Audio clip editing in timeline

I have seen some threads on this but they do not completely answer my question and are already marked answer.
I want to edit out small segments of audio only.  There is no sound track or anything.  For example I want to remove a phone ringing.  I know how to unlink and razor the audio although I can only do it if I more the audio to its own location on the timeline.  My main issue is that the razor does not seem to work if I spin down the waveform display.  I am using the waveform to find my exact edit point then spin up the display and cut.  Seems strange, am I missing something.  on a mac Premiere 5.1

This might work better.

I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE

You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline.  You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you  opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip.  You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect.  But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering.  One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.

  • When clicking an audio clip on the timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014, it duplicates it on a different track and makes it impossible to work.

I'm experiencing a disturbing issue as it actually prevents me to do the work in Premiere. I will put as much info as possible:
    1) Project started on a different computer (the editor), PC with Premiere Pro CC,
    2) Now opened on my Imac with Premiere Pro CC 2014,
    3) I am not editing, simply trying to move audio clips on different tracks to export audio tracks only,
    THE ISSUE:
    1) Here is my timeline:
    2) When I select an audio clip to highlight it, Premiere creates a duplicate on a different track:
Note that the clip highlighted in the previous screen cap is the duplicate and I didn't click it, Premiere highlights it as soon as it is duplicated.
    3) When I click out of the timeline or scroll up or down on the timeline, the duplicates disappear. However, when I try to move the original clips, it doesn't do anything, they are stuck in place.
    ANTICIPATED ANSWERS:
    1) You work on 2 different computers with 2 different versions of Premiere Pro CC, what do you expect? --> The amazing thing about Adobe CC is that it shouldn't be an issue and now I have to deal with it in this way,
    2) Try and save an updated version of your project from your computer. --> Already done that.
Thank you for your help. I usually use the customer support chat but I am on the other side of the globe and it is now closed. This issue prevents me to work so I need to solve it quickly.
    Kind regards,
    Aurelien

This sounds to me like it could be a graphics related problem are you on the latest driver. Something else you could try, start a new project and import the one from the PC into that rather than directly opening it in the MAC

  • Toggling between video clips (not audio clips) in the timeline

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a solution to this small inconvenience I am experiencing in FCP 5. When I have snapping enabled, and press the down arrow key, the playhead jumps to the next audio or video clip in the timeline. I am trying to find out if there is a way to jump between video clips only.
    Thank you
    -Peter

    Thanks,
Do you know if there is a way to make the up/down arrows snap to only the video cuts on the video clips in the highest video tracks in the timeline? Thanks.

  • Showing Multi clip editing in timeline (track by track)

I think I saw a tutorial where a person was showing how to multi edit and at the end he pressed a short cut to reveal all the separate camera tracks on the timeline.  How is this done?
Example ... of course when multi editing in the timeline, there is only 1 track of video even those your choosing multiple sources in the viewer.  How do you show all the clips in the timeline of you wanted to see all of them?

    Does my question make sense?
    Can this be done?

  • Curious - audio clips misbehave in timeline

    Anyone seen this before?
I was deleting cuts in clips on my timeline when this happened.
It resolved itself when I opened another item in the timeline and then went back to this one.

    Showing OK on my browser!

  • Pick only video and not audio to edit in timeline

How can I only move the video and not audio to the timeline when I pick a clip I want?
Everytime I drag it to the timeline it brings the audio and video and I have to unlink it and then delete the audio.

Disconnect the audio in the patch panel at the left end of the Timeline window. Click the a1 and a2 source tabs to disconnect them from their destination tracks (A1 and A2 by default).

  • Unable to add wav audio clips to Audio1 timeline

I am mystified as to why Encore is not letting me place specific .wav files into the Audio 1 timeline. Encore will let me put the files into the Audio 2 timeline, just not Audio 1. The wav files that cannot be placed in the Audio1 timeline have been rendered as together as dual audio/video streams. Other files that have been rendered as combined audio/video streams do allow the audio to go into Audio 1?Then, of course, I can only hear the audio from timeline 1 once I've rendered. Is there some obvious reason why these wavs will go into Audio 2 but not audio 1? Or is there a way to render out so that both Audio 1 and Audio 2 are both audible? Right now, it seems to be an either/or situation where I can hear audio1 or audio2, but not both.
I'm stumped and would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks once again with your help with the Audio Effect - Fill Right/Left, worked perfectly.
Just wondering weather I might be able to ask you another question about Adobe Premiere Pro V7. I'm in the final stages of finishing my cousins husbands funeral video which I'm putting together for her and the two kids. I'm trying to put Digital Hotcakes Film FX 9 over some overlay I'm inserting. I'm reading the manual on how to do this and it aint doing what it is supposed to do. When I put my video on the Video 1 timeline, and the effect on the Video 2 timeline directly above, and then into Video Effect - Keying - Screen Key - drag & drop onto effect in video 2, thereatically I should have my vision play with the effect. All that happens is the effect plays without my vision. Is there something I'm not doing right? I've played around for hours with this and found the Luma Key works ok for some effects, but placing my vision in a 3D projector animation using the screen key doesn't work as the manual says. Do you have any suggestions?????
    Cheers

  • How do I replace video/audio clips in a timeline?

In After Effects I can select Replace Footage in the File menu. How do I do this in Encore?  Looks like I could add a new clip to the existing timeline, then delete the old clip. Is there another/better way to achieve this?  Running CS5 on a MacPro.

Do you not have replace footage when you right click a clip?

  • Audio Clipping / Editing

I've been up most of the night with a problem that is driving me nuts - My audio feeds.
I have 2 spots on my audio that have a rather noticeable reverberation/echo sound. I think it from the lav mic. Either way, I've been trying to clip out, scrub or do something to just get the sound off the 2 spots.
My filters do not appear to be working well and I need to clip these out filter it out asap.
    Any suggestions?

I tried the Hum Remover, Vocal De Popper and the Compressor/Limiter
Echo and reverb are very hard to get rid of,
primarily since the echo/reverb frequencies are the
same as the those you want to keep. Its much easier
to filter out other noise that's on different
frequencies. Usually the only thing that helps would
be a gate, but I doubt you'd like the results.
What filters have you been trying?

  • Audio clips randomly missing in timeline

So i have a bit of a crisis and i'm not seeing any answers to this online. Hopefully someone can respons quickly. I have a premiere pro cc file thats been fine up to this point. The last time i opened it, several clips of audio suddenly are hashed and greyed out. The source audio file is in the bin and working correctly as the rest of the audio clips in the timeline pull from the from the same two audio files (see attached.) I did try copying everything into a new squence but it made no difference. I have no idea how to fix this and i'm praying that I dont have to re-edit. Any ideas? Let me know if I need to supply more information.
    Thank you in advance!
    Computer specs are:
    iMac (2010) 3.2 intel i3
    16gb 1333 DDR3 ram
    10.9.2
    Adobe CC
    editing to external 7200 lacie

Me too. Running 6.0.2, although slightly different than in the above posters case. Restarting PP usually encourges the audio to come back for a few minutes before disappearing again. It's doing my head. I think my problem is related to a wider issues as I'm also getting endless reconforms and tonnes of unusual little bugs when working on network material. I did intend to shift our facility to PP from FCP7 but the way this trial is going and the hours and hours we've sunk into chasing down the bugs it's not looking promising..

  • Can't Move Audio Clips in Timeline After Expanding to View Waveforms (Premiere Pro CC 2014.2)

So, this seems to be a bit of a weird one, and I'd be pretty stoked if it ended up being something silly that I'm doing wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that might be.
As the title suggests, I can't use the mouse to move some audio clips in a timeline once I expand the track to view the waveforms. This appears to only happen with independent audio clips (WAV. AIFF, MP3, etc), and not with clips attached to video. Also, it's worth noting that I don't have track keyframes turned on. I was hoping that was it, but it wasn't.
    So, what happens is this:
    1) I drag an audio clip down to the timeline (I can drag it onto an existing track, or drag to the bottom of the sequence and create a new track. Neither option seems to get a different result.).
    2) So long as the track isn't expanded and the waveform isn't visible, I can move the clip left, right, or up and down to a different track.
    3) As soon as I expand the track to view the waveform this functionality goes out the window. When this issue happens I can use the keyboard to nudge left and right, but that's about all the movement I have.
    4) It's almost as though the track becomes corrupt. The lanes for the track don't redraw properly, and the track is pretty much unusable. I can't put anything into it, and I can't take anything out. All I can do is delete the track and start again.
Complicating issues is that this doesn't always happen, but instead is one of those "vast majority of the time" issues. I can't see any rhyme or reason for why it works or doesn't. I seem to do the exact same thing, but occasionally get different results. It doesn't matter what type of file I'm using (WAV, AIFF, etc), and this only happens with independent audio clips.
Once again, I don't have track keyframing turned on when this happens. Believe me, I wish that was it.
I have already filed a couple of bug reports about this over the last month or so, but haven't heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue, and if so, whether they had any workarounds.
    Mandatory system info:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64-Bit)
    Intel i7-3820
    32GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 980 (350.12)
    Premiere Pro CC 2014.2

    Update:
I was just looking to post a screenshot of the timeline when I discovered something interesting. As soon as I use the vertical scroll bar to the right of the sequence, the tracks start to work again. Close off the waveform and the clip goes haywire. Move the scroll bar a tiny bit (or a lot), and suddenly the clip starts working.
    Pretty bizarre.
The good news is that for the time being that could be a workaround, though it would be great for this to not happen at all.

  • Moving Video & Audio Clips on Timeline

How can I move all video and audio clips on the timeline together? I can select and move all video clips, or all audio clips, but I can't find a way to move everything together. Moving separately will put audio and video out of sync.
    Thanks.

Lock the audio to the Playhead first (Advanced menu).
But you should be able to select both video and audio clips together using the usual shift key.

  • How can I move a clip on the timeline less than one frame?

I need to move an audio clip on the timeline to match the video but it snaps one frame at a time and I need to move it less than that.?

    I've just had a look.
    Try
    Edit
    Keyboard Shortcuts
    Panels
    Program Monitor Panel
    Program Monitor Panel Menu
    You should then find this:
You can then set up your preferred shortcut key.

  • Match Frame Audio clip to find Video?

    Hi
I have an audio clip in the timeline. Is there an easy way to find the original video that corresponds to it?
If I Match Frame to source it just brings up the audio clip to edit in the viewer. Doesnt give me the matching video.

In the Viewer, click on the VIDEO tab up on top.
