Audio clips randomly missing in timeline

So i have a bit of a crisis and i'm not seeing any answers to this online. Hopefully someone can respons quickly. I have a premiere pro cc file thats been fine up to this point. The last time i opened it, several clips of audio suddenly are hashed and greyed out. The source audio file is in the bin and working correctly as the rest of the audio clips in the timeline pull from the from the same two audio files (see attached.) I did try copying everything into a new squence but it made no difference. I have no idea how to fix this and i'm praying that I dont have to re-edit. Any ideas? Let me know if I need to supply more information.
Thank you in advance!
Computer specs are:
iMac (2010) 3.2 intel i3
16gb 1333 DDR3 ram
10.9.2
Adobe CC
editing to external 7200 lacie

Me too. Running 6.0.2, although slightly different than in the above posters case. Restarting PP usually encourges the audio to come back for a few minutes before disappearing again. It's doing my head. I think my problem is related to a wider issues as I'm also getting endless reconforms and tonnes of unusual little bugs when working on network material. I did intend to shift our facility to PP from FCP7 but the way this trial is going and the hours and hours we've sunk into chasing down the bugs it's not looking promising..

  • Cant move audio clips around in the timeline? Help?

When my clips are in the timeline in iMovie 11, after a few times of moving them around, it suddenly stops allowing me to move the clips around anymore. Any Ideas?

Well basically, I will import a .mp4 video file into the timeline and then I will import an audio file in from itunes. After a couple of trys to sync the imported audio file and the video up correctly, it just decides to not let me move the imported audio clip around anymore in the timeline. Any ideas? and thanks for the responce.

  • Why can you no longer see audio clip names in the timeline in CC?

This is very frustrating, so I'm hoping there's a solution. I need to be able to read audio file names within the timeline...especially music clips. Why would they remove this feature? Is there a way to get it back? And while I'm at it, why do you now have to expand the timeline tracks to be able to read the the track names? (I label all of my track names, but obviously don't want them all expanded just to be able to read what I labeled each track...that would be one fluster cluck of a timeline since I have a minimum of 10 audio tracks at all times!)
Thanks for any help on this issue! I just switched to CC v.8 yesterday and am trying to work out all the kinks.

Hit the wrench in the timeline and check Show Audio Names.

  • Can't Move Audio Clips in Timeline After Expanding to View Waveforms (Premiere Pro CC 2014.2)

So, this seems to be a bit of a weird one, and I'd be pretty stoked if it ended up being something silly that I'm doing wrong, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that might be.
As the title suggests, I can't use the mouse to move some audio clips in a timeline once I expand the track to view the waveforms. This appears to only happen with independent audio clips (WAV. AIFF, MP3, etc), and not with clips attached to video. Also, it's worth noting that I don't have track keyframes turned on. I was hoping that was it, but it wasn't.
    So, what happens is this:
    1) I drag an audio clip down to the timeline (I can drag it onto an existing track, or drag to the bottom of the sequence and create a new track. Neither option seems to get a different result.).
    2) So long as the track isn't expanded and the waveform isn't visible, I can move the clip left, right, or up and down to a different track.
    3) As soon as I expand the track to view the waveform this functionality goes out the window. When this issue happens I can use the keyboard to nudge left and right, but that's about all the movement I have.
    4) It's almost as though the track becomes corrupt. The lanes for the track don't redraw properly, and the track is pretty much unusable. I can't put anything into it, and I can't take anything out. All I can do is delete the track and start again.
Complicating issues is that this doesn't always happen, but instead is one of those "vast majority of the time" issues. I can't see any rhyme or reason for why it works or doesn't. I seem to do the exact same thing, but occasionally get different results. It doesn't matter what type of file I'm using (WAV, AIFF, etc), and this only happens with independent audio clips.
Once again, I don't have track keyframing turned on when this happens. Believe me, I wish that was it.
I have already filed a couple of bug reports about this over the last month or so, but haven't heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue, and if so, whether they had any workarounds.
    Mandatory system info:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 (64-Bit)
    Intel i7-3820
    32GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 980 (350.12)
    Premiere Pro CC 2014.2

    Update:
I was just looking to post a screenshot of the timeline when I discovered something interesting. As soon as I use the vertical scroll bar to the right of the sequence, the tracks start to work again. Close off the waveform and the clip goes haywire. Move the scroll bar a tiny bit (or a lot), and suddenly the clip starts working.
    Pretty bizarre.
The good news is that for the time being that could be a workaround, though it would be great for this to not happen at all.

  • Can't drag audio clips onto timeline in PPro CC

It doesn't seem to be possible to drag an audio clip directly onto the timeline any more without first importing it into the project.
In CS6, I could drag an audio file like a .wav, mp3 or similar directly on to the timeline.  CS6 would automatically add it to the project, it would be conformed, and its waveform would appear in the timeline.
In CC, it doesn't add it to the project, and instead it creates what appears to be just an empty placeholder in the timeline.  There's no waveform, and no audio is heard when the sequence is played.
With CC, it seems you have to import it into the project first, then drag it onto the timeline, creating an unncessary extra step.
Also, if after importing that audio file into the project you then delete it, it doesn't get removed from the timeline, it just stays there.

Feature is still there, has not changed.

  • Part of audio clip disappeared

This morning I exported the project and noticed that a major piece of the sound was gone. I opened fcp again and saw that the audio clip was missing. I thought that maybe I accidentally deleted it right before I exported so I began to do "restore project" to find where it disappeared. I kept backing up till I got back to yesterday evening when I was editing the sound. Still no audio clip! Make sense? Last night at 8:45pm I know for a fact I was editing the audio clip, but when I restore the project to that time, the clip is still missing. How is that possible? Sounds kinda like a glitch. I had to restore all the way back to yesterday morning, which was before I had done any edits on the audio clip.
What in the world? Anybody hear of such a thing?

No. It wasn't marked as "offline". it was just gone. the clip shows up in the finder, just not on the timeline. so i could just replace it, but it was a long clip w/ lots of edits...if for nothing more, i'd just like to figure out how this can happen. and how to keep it from happening again.

  • Red border around bottom of audio clip?

I added an .aif audio clip to a PR timeline (from a tutorial DVD). When I click on the clip, a thin red border appears across the bottom and left and right sides of the clip:
There were some clicks in the audio. So I rendered it as a .wav file but that didn't have any impact on the sound or the border.
    What does the border signify?

  • Video Clips get pushed by Audio Clips

When I add an audio clip to my CC timeline it always pushes my video clips down.  Why is this happening?  It even happens when I lock my video clips.  I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out.  Thanks.

shooternz, I shouldn't have been so presumptious to assume that you should just run to my flickr page and download it.  I hope you didn't take it that way.  I understand your limited time for all of these picky questions.  If there is a better way to get that large detailed screen cap to you, let me know.  I don't know if the Flickr route was appropriate or not.  I'm not sure I would like it if someone just told me to download a big pic from Flickr out of the blue so I applogize if I crossed an ettiquete line.  That wasn't my intention.  Thanks for even considering it.  I don't get the feelilng that my issue is a bug as it's so consistent across all of the targeting/untargeting and sync lock/sync unlock toggling.  It's probably something silly I'm doing and I thought I was fairly competent with Premiere CC.

  • Audio track missing on timeline when I insert clip from source monitor

I have the following problem with PP CS6: my media contains two alternate mono tracks (one with the signal boosted as an insurance) and I have PP set up to treat them as two mono tracks, rather than one stereo track. Everything works fine when I drag media directly to the timeline from the project panel. But when I use the source monitor to select in and out points, and then insert the chosen clip into the timeline, only one of the two audio tracks appears on the timeline. Can anyone please explain how to make sure I get both tracks on the timeline via this route?
    Thanks
    DM

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to my case. I've set PP's default behaviour to import as dual mono in Edit\Preferences\Audio. This allows me to drag media from the project panel to the timeline and get two sediscrete mono channels. My problem is that when I go the source monitor route, any clip that I insert does not display two audio tracks on the timeline, just one. I have discovered I can switch the source channel from left to right, which to all intents and purposes fixes my problem, but I would like to maintain the option of getting both channels displayed separately on the timeline if possible.
    Thanks

  • Audio Clip Mixer is missing dB range down the sides and sliders

My audio clip mixer is missing the dB range down the sides and sliders 90% of the time.  There isn't any rhyme or reason as to when they show up and when they don't.  I've attached a picture of what it looks like.  Can anyone recommend a solution?  Is there a preference I should be setting?

Okay, I guess it was a stupid question. But thanks for answering!
Just for not opening another thread... Do you maybe know why I can't select "customize" to put some more information in my timeline as shown in the screenshorts below?
Without being able to press customize I can't join this Button Editor...
Furthermore I can't join it via the settings button, where "customize video/audio header" is not selectable as well...

  • When clicking an audio clip on the timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014, it duplicates it on a different track and makes it impossible to work.

I'm experiencing a disturbing issue as it actually prevents me to do the work in Premiere. I will put as much info as possible:
    1) Project started on a different computer (the editor), PC with Premiere Pro CC,
    2) Now opened on my Imac with Premiere Pro CC 2014,
    3) I am not editing, simply trying to move audio clips on different tracks to export audio tracks only,
    THE ISSUE:
    1) Here is my timeline:
    2) When I select an audio clip to highlight it, Premiere creates a duplicate on a different track:
Note that the clip highlighted in the previous screen cap is the duplicate and I didn't click it, Premiere highlights it as soon as it is duplicated.
    3) When I click out of the timeline or scroll up or down on the timeline, the duplicates disappear. However, when I try to move the original clips, it doesn't do anything, they are stuck in place.
    ANTICIPATED ANSWERS:
    1) You work on 2 different computers with 2 different versions of Premiere Pro CC, what do you expect? --> The amazing thing about Adobe CC is that it shouldn't be an issue and now I have to deal with it in this way,
    2) Try and save an updated version of your project from your computer. --> Already done that.
Thank you for your help. I usually use the customer support chat but I am on the other side of the globe and it is now closed. This issue prevents me to work so I need to solve it quickly.
    Kind regards,
    Aurelien

This sounds to me like it could be a graphics related problem are you on the latest driver. Something else you could try, start a new project and import the one from the PC into that rather than directly opening it in the MAC

  • I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but can't it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE

I'm trying to reverb an audio clip in my timeline and I can't find the effect tab in the browser to drag to my audio clip to reverb. I can reverb the clip in the viewer but it won't drag to the timeline. I'm using FCE

You cannot drag the effects themselves to the timeline.  You add them to a clip in the Viewer, just as you have done.
If the clip was already in the timeline when you  opened it in the Viewer (by double-clicking it in the timeline to open it in the Viewer) and then added the reverb effect, there is nothing further to do, you have added the effect to the clip.  You don't drag it back to the timeline.
You only have to drag the clip to the timeline if the clip was not already in the timeline (for example, if you opened the clip from the FCE Browser; or set different In and Out points in a master clip to use a different portion of the master clip in a different location in your timeline).
Depending on the effect you add, you may have to render the timeline after adding the effect.  But I don't think reverb requires immediate rendering.  One other note, you said you were working with an audio clip ... audio clips need to be AIFF (not MP3 or something else) and preferably 16-bit stereo.

  • Video and audio clips not moving together on timeline

So every time I move my video clips in the timeline, the audio clips are not following.
I know "make a stereo pair" links up the audios, but is there any way to make the video and both the appropriate audio tracks move together?
    Thanks

Link them - select the video and audio tracks and press ⌘L.

  • Drag & drop audio clip from timeline to project window ?

i no longer can drag a clip from timeline to the project window & then breakout the clip to mono by selecting clip - audio options- breakout to mono - now when i drop an audio clip from timeline into the project window it does not show up anywhere in the project window - did an update get rid of this function ? it was much better than having to go back to the unedited original source & start from scratch ...

thanx for your time Jim - i understand that would be the preferred method but that was a quick fix until recently i have noticed that i can no longer do it by just grabbing the edited clip & drop it in project window so that i can modify just that portion of the original files properties - it still functions that way on a friends machine - was just kinda weird that i can't get it to work that way any more …

  • Linking audio clips in timeline

This must be as simple as I obviously am:
I would like to link some audio clips together (which currently run one after another) in the timeline in order that I can then drag them into the the viewer where I can then alter the levels and pans across the clips as a whole.
At the moment, when I select the clips and then drag them into the viewer, I just get the first clip as if taken from the browser, with the in / out points marked (i.e. what I originally dragged from the viewer into the timeline).
Have I explained this well enough? Can anyone help please?

as usual there a few ways you can do this .. just not the way you're trying to!
you can adjust pan for a selection of clips by choosing Modify menu > Audio > Pan Left/Center/Right
you can adjust the levels for a selection of clips by choosing Modify menu > Levels... which brings up the Gain Adjust window: in there you can make a releative or absolute adjustment to the selected clips
alternatively you could select those clips then choose Sequence meny > Nest Items which will create a new sequence containing those selected clips, replacing the selection in the current sequence with a single (nested sequence clip) ... then you can drag that one up into the viewer and adjust pan and levels as if it were a single merged clip
alternatively you can change your View menu > Playhead Sync to "Open"
then as you move your playhead in the timeline/canvas the clip under the playhead will be automatically loaded into the Viewer window where you can adjust pan/levels as required
