Audio Configuation?

i just bought my i pod nano and it said i needed to upgrade to version 7.1
well my brother has an older nano and i have a new one...well i downloaded the new itunes and it worked out for a while.
then someone restored our computer to a time before i made the update and now whenever i try to redownload itunes a window pops up that says:
"itunes will not open because it detected a problem with the audio configuration"
i have no idea what this means...can anyone help me?

that's typically caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (iTunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)

I just upgraded through the auto upgrade feature and, whilst iTunes was working perfectly before the upgrade it now refuses to start, displaying a dialog box with
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration".
Now, given iTunes was working perfectly beforehand what has caused this? I've tried restarting the PC, reinstalling the new iTunes from a fresh download, deinstalling and reinstalling the new version to no avail. I have now tried to reinstall the old version and I get the same error message.
System is a WinXP / AMD64 / 2Gb RAM with an Edirol FA-101 firewire audio interface (still replays sounds via Windows Media player so it's not that!)
Anyone got any ideas?

Itunes won't launch saying there is a audio configuation problem, this started all the sudden no new software added no updates, no configuration changes. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without improvement and all other audio programs work fine. any ideas?

Itunes will not open because of false error w/ audio

three days ago my itunes was working fine and then i go to update the most recent addition and whenever i try to open it a message just pops up that says "itunes cannot run because it has detected an error in your audio configuation'
there should be no error because i just put a new soundcard in my computer before that and everything worked fine w/ itunes and even before i installed the new soundcard when i had no audio at all itunes was still running smoothly.
if someone could help me to solve this problem it would be much appreciated.

I have reloaded and repaired ITunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Quicktime. Nothing works.

Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.

Multicam Clip Audio Channel config greyed out

I shot an interview with two cameras. One of those cameras had the audio (lav on left, boom on right). That audio was imported as a stereo track on import, the angles where multicamed, and the edit happened.
Now I have a timeline with all my audio playing in stereo (lav on left boom on right). I want to change from stereo to dual mono so I can audio mix properly, but when I select the multicam clip in the timeline, the channel configuation in the inspector lists it as stereo and the dual mono option is greyed out. (don't know why they won't let me change here)
I can go back to the event and select the multicam clip there and change it to dual mono and it will also change in the timeline. So that seems like a work around, but I can't select MULTIPLE multicam clips in the event and batch change the channel config to dual mono. Says "selected clips are from different multicam clips."
Am I going to have to select every single multicam clip individually in the event browswer and change the channel configuration on each one?

As far as I understand it, you cannot switch a "container" clip like the multicam to dual mono since it contains a clip which is stereo inside it. This makes sense, as per se it is not the multicam that is stereo or not.
You should make the change from stereo to dual mono in the actual AUDIO clip - either before creating the multicam, or after - in this case, after :-)
Open the multicam clip in Angle Editor (control-click the clip in the timeline and choose "Open in Angle Editor").
Now select the clip that contains the audio and make the change. Note that this WILL affect the relevant clip even outside the multicam.

Moving Clips - and how not to lose the audio? Help needed!

I have used Premiere Pro 6.0 quite extensively over the years and have recently moved to Premiere Pro CS5.
With Premiere Pro 6.0 I could move/drag clips on the time-line and their linked audio would move with them. If I moved the video clip to another video track, say, above an existing clip, the audio would also move to a free audio track and not automically write over any existing audio. This would allow me to easily reorder clips on the timeline by simply moving them around and using other video tracks as temporary storage locations... and not lose or write over any other existing audio.
However in Premiere Pro CS5 if I do the same thing, the video will move to the other video track I move it to, but the audio will stay in the say audio track and will write-over any existing audio when the mouse button is released. The only way around this I can find in the manual is to: (1) drag the video to the other video track, and (2) press and hold the <SHIFT> key, whilst, (3) draging the linked audio to another audio track to avoid existing audio from being over-written.
My question: Is there a configuation I can set in CS5 to allow moving/draging of clips to work like in Premiere Pro 6.0? I have already messed up multiple times in CS5 by inadvertently over-writing existing audio.
Your expert advice and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

This has been frustrating for me for the last three months and I thought I would come to this forum for some expert advice. So far I have been told that CS5 is designed to be like this (does not answer my question), and now you tell me to look up the manual (again does not answer my question).

Audio Interface: Mackie Onyx 1640 with Firewire - How good is it?

I was about to buy a RME Fireface 800 as my Audio Interface, but then checking the Mackie HR824 Monitors (first i wanted to buy the Genelec 8030) i discovered the Onyx 1640 with Firewire, which of course is not a new product.
So, the dealer told me that the PreAmps and quality overall of the Onyx1640 is almost the same to the RME Fireface800, being the Fireface slightly superior.
Now the great thing is that IF the Onyx is that good, i could shot 2 ducks with the same bullet because with that Mixer/AudioInterface, besides using it for recordings, I could rehearsal with my band as well in my "studio"... and even record some jam sessions.
BUT the question is, how good is the Onys 1640 really in comparison to the e.g. RME Fireface 800 ??
Has anybody experience with the Onyx ?
For recording I would set a MindPrint MKII between the AudioInterface and Mic for voices.

I cannot comment on the Onyx though I just wanted to let
you know that the FF800 can be used as a stand alone unit
and does not need a computer. You could set up a preset
to do any configuation you need for any situation. I have mine
in a mounted in a portable rack case. Of course paired with
MacBook Pro you would be a formidable portable solution.

Realtek Hi Def Audio has no sound for X540 5.1 rear two speakers

Hello-I have an Idea Centre K430 Desktop running Win8.1Update1-64bit,IE11,12 GB Memory and 1 TB HDD. I have X540 Logitech 5.1 speakers installed. I recently installed Realtek Hi Def Audio Driver 2.75. After installing this driver.I observed that my speaker system was reduced from a 5.1 system to a 3.1 system. I tried adjusting different settings in the Lenovo HD Audio Manager without correcting the rear two speakers' sound problem. I switched spear configurations.Quadaphonic produced sound on the two front and rear speakers and no sound on the front middle speaker. I swithed to th 7.1 configuration and received sound on the 5.1 configuation. I do not have the two other speakers required for a 7.1 configuration. I am convinced that my speakers are working and there is something wrong with my 2.75 driver download. I deleted my previous 2.75 driver and re-installed the 2.75 driver from Realtek's download site. Not all is lost, however. Your sound card *can* output surround sound (already encoded) from a DVD, by enabling pass-through. I'm looking at my drivers in entertainment mode, and you would enable "Dolby Digital Bitsream Out: On" on the Dolby Digital page. Same thing on the DTS page.
I know I had my Audigy 2 ZS hooked up to both the analog and digital ports on my receiver, and to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference. I'm sure the X-Fi would be give the same result. If your receiver does not have analog 5. inputs, then you are SOL. If they do, however, then there really is no degradation using the analog inputs. Really expensi've receivers ($000+) have top quality DACs, but the ones on the X-Fi (to the best of my knowledge) are as good if not better than the DACs on any standard receiver. The digital data needs to be converted to analog somewhere, and it doesn't really matter if its done by the card, or by the receiver. I would highly suggest doing what I said - hook up your X-Fi to both the analog and digital ports simultaneously, and switch between the two while playing some stereo music. If you are happy with the analog output's sound, then just go analog. Forget the myth that digital has to be better. Its only better if the DACs are better, and they probably aren't.
EDIT I just noticed you were talking about an Audigy 2 ZS, but all this still applies. Enabling pass-through may be a bit different, and I can't remember exactly how since I had already determined the analog outs sounded good and I didn't bother keeping the digital connected using my Aud2ZS.Message Edited by opozoid on 0-2-2005 06:40 AM

HP Stream 13 Audio

I've recently purschased the hp stream 13, and I haven't even had it for a week. The problem I'm having is, when I plug in headphones to the audio jack, I only get sound to the left bud, and I 've tried multiple headphones that work perfectly fine on other devices. If I don't plug the headphones in all the way, and tilt to a certain angle, sound comes through clearly to both buds, but when connected completely, same problem.
I've gone to Manage Audio Devices, and played around with the Realtek software, turned it off, tried balancing it, re-configuered it. I've tried using the Strereo Mix device in place of the speaker, which only distorted the sound, and now I'm hoping its a really simple solution that I've just stupidly overlooked.

I am having the same problem. This is my second stream. I exchanged it about a week and a half ago because the first one was having buzzing sounds and then the sound completely stopped working with headphones plugged in. Now I am getting sound only on one side and also the buzzing has started again. I assume in a few days it will stop altogether. Again. I have never regretted a purchase as much as this one.

Unable to capture audio

Hi,
Last week I updated the drivers for my Blackmagic Multibridge extreme. Now when I try to capture the material in FinalCutPro 5.1.4 I can see the picture, hear the sound on my monitors (they are connected directly to Multibridge), but the captured material doesn't have sound, because it takes the sound from the internal audio input. I tried to capture from Blackmagic Deck Control (an external application) and it works fine, it captures with sound. So I suspect I have to change the audio input in FCP, but dont know where. In audio/video settings in FCP everything is set to DeckLink (Multibrige extreme).
Where is the problem?

Unable to capture audio from BlackMagic HD Extreme via Voice Over tool

Hi !
I'm trying to capture audio via my BlackMagic HD Extrem card using the Voice Over tool in FCP6, but I can't, no audio is incoming.
I can ingest audio with video using log and capture, then I know my card and my cables are working.
I tried to set the BM card as audio input in my Audio's System Prefereces Pane, but it isn't working either.
I've been looking on the BM website, but I found nothing.

Unable to capture 2 audio tracks

FCP refuses to capture 2 audio channels?! I have one mic on channel 1 and another mic on channel 2 but FCP captures only 1 mono track eventhough in Clip Setting both channel 1 and 2 are selected. Does anybody know what could be wrong?
Another thing is that when I have captured a clip - it won´t appear automatically in the Browser as it always has done? Now I need to import the Clip from my Project folder. FCP going crazy.
