"Audio configuration problem" on one machine, not the other

I have a laptop and a desktop both with Vista Home Premium SP1. I have ITunes and Quicktime on both. I can run ITunes on the desktop without getting the "audio config problem" message, but on the laptop (Toshiba Satellite A215-S5837) I have tried the fix (uninstall and re-install QT) with no luck. At first I thought the problem was fixed, but after turning the machine off and back on, the problem is still there.

Unfortunately, the noir household Vista box is in a different hemisphere from my current location (it's in North Carolina), and I can't doublecheck the way that the Audio control panels are set up on Vista.
... but in XP, the first thing I would check on with a recalcitrant "audio configuration" error would be if the correct default device was showing up in the "Sound playback" area of the "Audio" tab of the "Sounds and audio devices" control panel.
Can you find such a location in your Vista control panel on the PC getting the "audio configuration" error?

    The amount of information makes it somewhat hard to give a specific answer. I could only recommend:
    * Can you log into the account using the webmail service from your provider?
    * Have you verified the settings for the account to be correct (protocol, port number, password encoding)?

    If you want Bridge CS6 to open when using Photoshop CS6, you must quit Bridge CC.
    Then File menu > Browse in Bridge will bring up Bridge CS6.
    If Bridge CC is already open, The File > Browse in Bridge for Photoshop CS6 will use Bridge CC and Bridge CS6 will not open.

    2. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    3. Make sure Time Zone is correct
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

I first connected the Touch to my desktop and it allows me to drag and drop mp3 files from my old Classic, which is backed up to a directory. Unfortunately, that computer has gone down before I got a chance to fill the Touch. I have the files on another computer but when I connect the Touch to it, it doesn't allow me to drag and drop the files. I have iCloud set on both systems and I have manual management check marked. I'm not understanding why it allows drag and drop on one PC and not the other when they are both set the same way. My question? What do I need to do to be able to drag and drop in iTunes 12? I didn't do anything special on the computer that allows it so I am at a loss.

    That's what I told a helper friend of mine, but he told me

  • 2 identical iPhones-Airprint works one, but not the other?!

    My husband and I both have iPhone 4S 32GB.  We're using an HP Photosmart 6510 which is both ePrint & Airprint ready.  Here's the problem:
    I can print via ePrint or Airprint, but my husband's phone will ONLY do ePrint.  I don't get it!  We have the printer and both iPhones on the same wireless network.  He even gets a message that his print job is sending/printing, but nothing prints.  I can Airprint the same file from the same e-mail and it works fine.  HP is useless...they just keep telling me to reboot the phone and/or reboot the printer.  This fixes the problem initially, but a day or two later, the same thing happens.  it's very frustrating and I'd really like a permanent fix for this.
    Can anyone help?!  Please?!

    Thanks for the feedback.  It's worth a try.  What's making me crazy is why would one phone work and not the other?  Rhetorical question, but still making me crazy. 

  • 2 Apple TV's; Mirroring to one but not the other

    Help me Apple Communities you're my only hope.*
    I have 2 Apple TV's on the local network, bothe with Airplay enabled. One labelled AppleTV, the other labelled TV Upstairs.While I can happily stream music and video to both devices from iOS or the MacBook Pro, Mirroring is another matter.
    On my iPad 2 when I select Airplay to the Apple TV it comes up with the option for Mirroring. However selecting the TV Upstairs Apple TV does not provide this option, and only  sound output only, with quite a delay. The iPad 2 is iOS5, and both Apple TV's are latest stable release. The Time Capsule is upstair with the Upstairs AppleTV.
    Any ideas for this?

    I think you may be suffering from the same issue as many others in that case.
    The situation over the current update seems a little unsure at the present time.
    4.4 was released, it was then replaced by 4.4.1, which itself was removed and then made available again, it seems from the number of related post that it may have been removed again.
    Some posters are still reporting success by updating via iTunes but I can't confirm that these posts weren't simply referring to other times when the updates were available.
    I'd be inclined to sit tight and try again at a later time.

  • Joystick problem. works for one comp not the other.

    I am trying to acquire data from my joystick. it's a simple vi with
    initializing joystick vi and acquire input data vi and it works
    perfectly flawlessly fine on my office computer windows xp, but once i
    try the same vi with the same joystick in my lab, it does not read out
    anything but the default values for axis info or direction info. the
    only difference i can see is that the lab computer uses windows
    2000...both have directX 9.0 installed since i saw that these vis
    require directx 8.0 or higher.
    from system panel's game controller, i can successfully test my
    joystick and it works fine for both computers...but the vi just don't
    seem to work in the windows 2000 one.
    both comp have labview 8.0.
    any suggestion in how i can fix this? what would be the reason to this?

    i have built a robot which with compactRIO-9022 onboard, and  i'm controlling it
    with joystick logitech attack 3. I haven't used it for a month or so, and now when i tried to use
    it with other computer my joystick doesn't work - tried couple of computers with the sam version of labview 2010. My vi
    doesnt see the joy - basic examples for joy neither. It even  started to work on my basic computer on one VI  and doesnt work on the other pograms.
    I simply don't get it.

  • File sharing works with one xp machine, not the other

    Hi folks, I just switched over to Mac! So far so good with my new macbook. I have two identical gateway xp machines. Strange thing is, the macbook connects perfectly to one of the gateways for file and print sharing, but cannot connect to the other. In finder the name of the computer appears under "shared", but when I click on it, after attempting to connect, it says "connection" failed. For the xp machine in question, I have run the home networking "wizard" and have used trouble shooter. The computer has a unique name on the network, and the directories have been set for sharing. I've tried removing the firewall--though the firewall is instructed to permit networking. So, what can I do? Thanks everybody.

    On the troublesome XP box, set the permissions for your shares are set that "everyone" can read the share. (No need to give write access).
    I am assuming that you are using XP Pro and staying away from "Simple File Sharing".

  • JDBC with CLOB abnomally - shows on one server, not the other

    Hi have a problem.
    I recently moved a web application to another server. I copied over all the same java libraries I had on the first server.
    The web application queries an Oracle table - the table contains one CLOB field.
    When I query the table on the first server, I can see the contents of the CLOB.
    When I query the table with the other server, the query is empty for the CLOB field.
    This is the code I use to query the table. I have connection pooling set up within Sun Web Server. If it works on the one server, why would it not work with the other server? This is driving me crazy!!

  • Two elxl ethernet cards - need to hardcode speed/duplex on one but not the other

    Hello,
    I am running Solaris 8 IA, and have two 3com Ethernet cards. One (elxl1) is a 10Base-T card that is used to connect to my cable modem, and the other (elxl0) is a 100Base-TX card that I use to connect to my internal network.
    I had been using a crossover cable to connect elxl0 to my Windows machine (my Solaris box is running ipfilter for firewalling and NAT), and it worked perfectly. I purchased a Linksys switch, and get about 90% packet loss when the two machines are connected to it.
    What I'm thinking is that I need to hardcode the speed and duplex settings of elxl0. Of course, I'd prefer to set it to 100/Full, but if I edit elxl.conf, the settings take effect for both cards, and causes elxl1 to not function, since it is not capable of running at 100/Full.
    Is there a way to tell the OS that I want to set elxl0 to 100/Full without affecting elxl1?
    A response here or via e-mail at [email protected] would be greatly appreciated.

    maybe a driver configuration bug? Does modinfo show two instances of the driver??

  • USB Headset Works in One Port, Not the Other

    When I got my headset (Logitech) it worked perfectly just after plugging it in and using it. It worked while plugged in to either of my USB ports on my laptop. Recently however, it has not worked at all while plugged in to the port on the left, while it still does work when plugged in to the port on the right.
    If I open iTunes while plugged in to the non-working left port and make sure to change my system prefs so that the input and output use the Logtech USB Headset, then I hear no sound of any kind. If I then simply plug the USB headset into the other side of the computer without changing any settings, it works fine. This is new behavior as it used to work in both ports.
    Another thing to note is that the volume control buttons on the headset still work even when plugged into the USB port that doesn't play sound. Also, I successfully plug in my printer, mouse and other devices to both ports and they all work fine.
    I've tried repairing permissions, repairing preferences, and restarting, but nothing has helped so far.
    Any ideas on why this would happen with any device?

    Which operating system are you running? I have similar problems in a configuration with and iMac and a Macbook, but haven't tried to switch the system around. see this thread:
