Audio continues to freeze, and drop over AirPlay

I have two recurring problems with iTunes, and I'm at a loss at how to solve them. Every bit of research and forum-scouring I've done has turned up nothing but the obvious trouble-shooting steps, all of which I've taken. I'm hoping perhaps there might be some others out there who have figured out some sort of a solution so this doesn't just end up as "Apple Needs to Fix It" (which seems to be the case more often these days )
Two Recurring Issues with iTunes
Problem 1 - AirPlay “drops” and completely stops working
Open iTunes
Play a song – already “connected” to 2 Speakers;my computer, and my AppleTV
On initial play, AppleTV NEVER plays. It just doesn’t “realize”, for lack of a better word, that it’s being expected to play.
Through iTunes or the Remote app on iPhone I have to un-select AppleTV as a Speaker, and then re-select it. Once I do this AirPlay starts working on AppleTV and audio is heard.
AirPlay will continue to intermittently “drop”and AppleTV will just randomly stop working. I have to do the same thing – open speakers, un-select and re-select AppleTV – to get it working again. Over, and over, and over again.
Problem 2 - iTunes Playback “freezes”
This happens just as frequently as problem 1.
This seems to be more of an iTunes issue, as it happens even when I am NOT using AirPlay, and only My Computer has beenselected as a Speaker.
iTunes will simply “freeze”. Playback stops. I can’t interact with iTunes at all – no stop, FF, Skip, new song, etc. Nothing.
It remains frozen for very random lengths of time. Maybe 5 seconds, maybe 60.
Eventually it “catches” up to itself and un-freezes, and playback resumes.
It seems that once it happens once, it continues to happen in regular succession so much so that iTunes becomes essentially worthless and I have to shut it down as I can’t listen to anything.
I get no problems with CPU being hosed when these issues crop up. My computer specs are more than sufficient to avoid such problems for appropriately coded programs.
iTunes 10.5.2.11
Core 2 2.4 GHz quadcore
8 GB Ram
7200rpm HDrive, nicelydefragged.
Linsys E3000, firmwareup to date.
Win 7 64bit

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

  • Problem using text boxes as the "image" to drag and drop over audio file

    I have been adding audio files to my page in iWeb (previous version, not '08), but I am having a problem giving them titles.
    When you first drag a file from iTunes into iWeb, it provides a space for you to drag and drop a picture. The online iWeb guide also says that you can drag a text box there instead of a picture.
    I created a text box with the text I would like to drop over the controller. However, it is no longer allowing me to drop the text box there. I used to be able to do this, and I don't know what I'm doing differently now. Any suggestions?

    foobar2000 with the ipod plugin will allow you to drag/drop FLAC files and when it syncs the ipod, it converts the FLAC files on the fly. MUCH better than dealing with the crappy iTunes interface and having to pre-convert the files. I absolutely loathe iTunes and it just gets worse and worse!

  • Very SLOW synching and freezing and dropping shared libraries

    I have had my APT for about 2-3 years now. Never had issues until about a month ago.
    In the past 3 days, i have spent a lot of time on the phone with tech support. My ATV would drop my shared library from my laptop, then it would appear again, drop it, appear again, etc ....
    I decided to wipe the hard drive and reinstall the entire OS on the ATV.
    But then we couldn't get the ATV to find the network. Considering my extreme station was in a different room, I bridged the network with another extreme I had on hand. My Wii and laptop in the living room pick up the signal with full strength. And the ATV shows full bars as well now.
    I then tried to download the software update 3 times, and FINALLY I got it installed before it froze.
    Now, I am streaming fine with my laptop, but I want to synch my Mac Pro with the Apple TV just like last time.
    Now only has it taken 2 hours to synch 25 photos, it has been freezing still during the synch.
    Tech support doesn't know what else to do.
    Any ideas?

    I don't think i have two stations streaming the same network, but my main extreme station is at one end of my condo, and the Apple TV had issues reaching that signal, so we took an Express and bridged, or extended, the network.
    Now that Apple TV sees the network, but the streaming, synching issues still continue.
    Oh, and when is ay we, I mean the tech support people at Apple advised me to use the express (i already owned it) to extend the network signal range.

  • How do I stop FaceTime on my MacBook Pro from freezing and dropping connection constantly?

    I only have this issue with FaceTime on my MacBook Pro; FaceTime works fine on my iPad Mini and iPhone 5S. I'll be talking with someone over FaceTime and it will randomly freeze and/or say it's lost the connection and I usually have to turn my Wifi off and on again and it reconnects. Every time I click on the Wifi icon in the top it says it's looking for networks. Why would it be looking for networks? It's almost always within 10-15 feet of my wireless router and nothing else in my house has an issue maintaining a connection with it. Is there some kind of unnecessary setting on my MacBook Pro that tells it to constantly search for other networks even though I've only set it up for one network?

    Were you able to download and save the DMG (disk image file) for Firefox?
    If there are problems with updating or permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (DMG) file to the desktop

  • Drag and drop over AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF in C# Winform

    Hi,
    I've embedded the AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF PDF Browser control from SDK 2 in a .Net C# Winform, and can load and display a PDF within it.
    I want to be able to drag and drop System.Windows.Forms.TextBox (s) over the control and when dropped based on mouse co-ordinates
    store the x,y coordinates of the text boxes in a database.
    But when I drag and drop text boxes, the cursor changes to No/Disabled and I am unable to drag onto the AxAcroPDF control.

    I've set AllowDrop to True, but to no obvious effect
    Is this possible ?.
    I've simulated the same affect with displaying other types of images such as gif displayed within a Systems.Windows.Form.PictureBox, but this control has Dragdrop events available, but no equivalent withAxAcroPDF?

    I have also tried using a System.Windows.Panel control as an "overlayed/same size/location" child of AxAcroPDF , which supports drag and drop events.
    The drag and drop works, but the PDF does not show through, even with the Panel.BackColor/Forecolor set to Transparent.

    I'm having the same problem with a Mac Pro desktop and it started after I upgraded to 10.7.5 . Exact same issue , Crashes for no reason ( very little running - mail,browser) then reboots. Sometimes it does multiple reboots.
    I hate to say it but it's tiumes like this that I envy the Microsoft's approach to updates, if it is bad (which is not unheard of) you can go into programs and remove the last update. It would be nice if Apple implemented this since their quality doesn't seem to be what it once was.

    I beleive they were synced with iCloud before I ran out of storage I then backup to my PC periodically.
    My contacts switch is off, I have now slid this across and no contacts have come back. Is there any other steps necessary for me to take? Switch my phone off or reset again?

  • Final Cut Pro 7 Frame freezing and dropping frames for 3 seconds...

    So, I'm creating a video which leads up to .png files being on screen for 00:00:00:20 and 00:00:00:10. When it hits that first frame of 00:00:00:20, it freezes for 3 seconds, misses out the rest of the frames before continues. What puzzles me is that in the playback window in FCP, it plays exactly how it should but when rendering out into "Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1920x1084 60i 48 kHz .mov" format, it plays like this...
    It leads me to believe that the frames per second need to be upped but not a cut how to do this on FCP. If this is not the reason for this problem, I'd love to hear from you!

    I feel that this is your problem. Editing from a network drive is not particularly ideal as there are quite a few overheads when it comes to data transfer. Bear in mind that in a properly set up network users have a restricted amount of bandwidth to 'play" with so as to minimise horrendous bottlenecks and complaints. Additionally having only 1.9 to 2 GB of free space is a recipe for disaster. The drive could fail miserably and as a result you could lose your work. One thing that is useful to know about conventional drives is that their speed drops dramatically as you fill them up, up to the point that they crawl. I suggest you move your work into a local drive, that is one connected to the computer you use, with ample space to space (filled way below 50% of its capacity). In fact, fcp capture scratch, render and media folders should be there.

  • IPad 2 Freezing and Dropping WiFi

    Over the last few days my iPad 2 continuously freezes whilst watching things through iPlayer / Sky Go / 4 OD etc. Sometimes the WiFi will go completely and I need to switch back on.
    I have checked our Internet and all is fine, tried using the apps via my iPhone 5 and had no problem whatsoever. The problem definitely lies with the iPad.
    I have closed all Apps and restarted iPad a number on times but it continues to carry on in the same way.
    iPad is fully charged, up to date with Software and has plenty of memory available.
    Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it?

    This is Apple's official WiFi trouble-shooting page. You should waalk through the list trying it all.
    In addition, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
    Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Audio out of sync and dropping out in video files

    I recent imported about 1000 clips (AVCHD and GoPro .MP4) into PP CC 2014 and all of the audio is out of sync. These clips all work and play perfectly fine in PP CC and directly from Finder on my Macbook Pro. I was also able to get them to play correctly on PP CC 2014 on an iMac with a different CC subscription. However, even after uninstalling, "cleaning up," and reinstalling PP CC 2014, the issue still persists. Any thoughts on how to fix it?
    I have a late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM,  a NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB graphics card, and the 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 processor. I use PP CC 2014 every day and have never had this issue before.

    seems like it could be a compatability problem between the camera and the deck. Either one might be out of spec and causing the problem. You might try capturing from the camera that the material was shot with and see if that helps.
    Also, in terms of synch, make sure "abort capture on dropped frames" and "make new clip on timecode break" are enabled in preferences. This will also insure that you will be able to recapture with frame accuracy.

  • Have restored ipod, and continues to freeze and get sad face!!

    HELP! I do not know what is wrong w/ my ipod. Listen to it at work constantly and it freezes, literally about 10 times a day. I have to press the middle button and top button and it resets. I have the current updated software, and have recently restored my ipod. I do not know what my next step is.....does anyone else out there have or had this same problem?????

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
