Audio corrupt in Captivate

I'm using audio for the first time in Captivate 2 and am
having a few problems.
The mp3 (bit rate 64) plays okay as an mp3, when i import the
mp3 into Captivate 2 it plays fine, i drag it onto the frame and
again if i right click the audio file it'll play okay
However when i run the file or preview on a single frame the
audio doesnt play and instead sounds corrupt, it sounds like a
tiger roaring !
Any ideas ?
Regards

Thanks so much for your reply. Here's the problem and I can't
seem to figure this out either (my Nerves). I have inserted my
Captivate swf file into a Breeze Presenter PowerPoint and it starts
prematurely, thereby overlapping the recording on the slide before
it. I've tried all kinds of timing but it seems to have a mind of
it's own. Can you help?
Thanks

  • Can't locate PowerPoint audio files in Captivate 5

I imported a PowerPoint presentation with audio narration into Captivate 5. The audio plays fine, but I don't know where to find the audio files. They don't appear in the timeline or anywhere else.

i know this is an old post, but i wonder if you might know how to solve this similar problem?
i rec'd a PowerPoint 2010 file and when i bring it into Captivate the audio plays, but i can't find the files.  The narration was done in PowerPoint.  Captivate has the Closed Captions greyed out...so i can't even cut and past the slide notes into closed captions if i want to do that as a low tech workaround.
    any ideas?

  • Audio problems preloaded Captivate swfs in custom player

I have a slideshow-like custom Flash player that uses
standard preloader code - it loads external swf movieclips into a
holder clip, and stores references to them in an array. Once all
external swfs are loaded, the first clip starts playing and
navigation buttons allow the user to go through the "slides" at
    will.
The problem: some Captivate-generated swf files have audio
that starts playing as the clips are preloading, and the audio does
not stop except with a stopAllSounds call. As needed, each loaded
swf is copied (so to speak) from the array to a clip on the stage,
loadedClip_mc, to be played and controlled. The player's pause
    button, which works as follows:
    loadedClip_mc.stop()
has no effect on the sound of the loaded Captivate clips.
Furthermore, the audio doubles-up when trying to play any
slide, and clicking play (loadedClip_mc.play() )
HERE IS THE MOST CONFUSING PART: this ONLY happens when the
player and the movies to be loaded are uncached - after the files
are visited for the first time, everything works great. Anytime you
revisit the player it is fine. However, if it is the first time
someone is visiting the custom player, or the browser cache is
cleared, once you visit the page the audio for all Captivates start
playing during preloading simultaneously and cannot be controlled.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi. I've experienced the same problem with audio and preload.
Sorry for my english, but - I dont know if I've understood the
matter- I think you are talking about to fix this problem using
actionscript code. Please, would you answer me one question? If I
can't change the code of the base clip generated by Captivate, is
it possible to add some code in my loaded clips to stop that audio
embedded in them when they are preloading? What would this code
    be?.
    I hope you understand me!
    Thank you.

  • Audio corruption on the device

I am working on an mp3 streaming app with CBR data. Using CBR (Constant Bitrate) makes setup of the audio buffers really easy, vs. VBR that requires setting up packet size data for each packet. Well, if I pretend that my streams are VBR, things generally "work" although the code is more complicated than it needs to be. If I use the CBR approach (read X bytes, shove X bytes to AudioQueueEnqueueBuffer(, magically play music..) it works great on the simulator. However, it fails on the device. I get audio corruption, little glitches ever second or two, typical of trying to play incomplete mp3 packets.
Has anyone else observed this and know if this is a known issue?

In your Code a important part is to set up the AudioStreamBasicDescription structure.
    Channels: Stereo = 2 or Mono = 1.
Format: MP3 [There is format setting that will set this value something like AudioStreamFormat ... ]
Sample Rate: What ever your sample rate is. If its wrong the mp3 will sound chipmunky
When reading the file from disk use AudioFileReadPackets to get the amount of packets. For the buffersize you'll need there is a function AudioQueueGetProperty which once the AudioQueue has been opened you can get the maximum size for the buffer.

  • I just loaded Audition, but when I try to edit an audio track from Captivate the "edit in adobe audi

I just loaded Audition, and already had Captivate on my computer. I'm trying to edit an audio track from Captivate, so I go to Audio>Edit>Slide. But, the window that comes up does not have the "Edit in Audition" button activated. The button is faint, thus doesn't work. How do I sync these two programs so I can edit a Captivate Audio file in Audition?

    From the captivate help file:
You can use Adobe Audition to edit audio when you want to go beyond the audio editing options available in Adobe Captivate. For example, to apply filters or remove noise, you need an advanced audio editor such as Adobe Audition. You can either edit the audio files from slides or batch process by opening multiple files in Adobe Audition using the Library panel.
The changes reflect in Adobe Captivate library and the associated slides where the audio files are being used. The saved files are reimported to Adobe Captivate with the slide associations intact.
Note:  This feature is available only in Adobe Captivate that is installed as a part of Adobe eLearning Suite.
I think that the last line probably answers your question....

  • Best way to break up audio files for Captivate?

Hi guys, I have a dilemma here. I am getting ready to record the audio clilps for Captivate and I'm wondering how I should break up the audio.  For example, the first slide has
    First textbox with title "Introduction"
Second textbox with title "Learning Objectives"
Third textbox with "In this lesson you will learn: a) how to do something b) how to define something"
Fourth textbox with "It will take you 5 minutes to complete this lesson"
So, how does Captivate play the audio? Do I record only one audio file for all the text on screen and add the audio to the slide? Or, do I record smaller chunks (for each textbox) and add the audio file to each of the textbox?  In which order will Captivate play the audio? I'm assuming if all the textboxes have separate pieces of audio, Captivate would play those at the same time.
    Thanks

Hi.  My recommendation would be to create one audio file for the slide, then use the timeline if necessary to time the text captions (and other objects) to appear/disappear to match the slide audio.  If you record audio for each text caption, the audio will begin to play as soon as the text caption becomes visable on the slide.  If you have more than one text caption appearing at the same time, both will play their audio at the same time.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio Issues in Captivate 4 on Vista

    Hi,
Just wondering if there is a fix out yet to deal with the audio issues in Captivate 4 - I'm running on regular Vista - editing audio in Soundbooth, importing MP3 files into Captivate - clicks and pops abound. Really frustrating and annoying. Is anyone working on improving this and other Captivate 4 annoyances?
    Thanks,
    Marianne

    Hi Chip
    Glad it worked for you.
For what it's worth, you will likely find it has nothing to do with Acrobat. I've seen it happen with RoboHelp and with Captivate and other software. Likely something failed during a recent software install of a different package. Unfortunately the symptom appears with a legitimate and soundly installed package.
Good luck in getting it sorted... Rick

  • Poor imported audio quality in Captivate 4

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having some serious audio quality issues with Captivate 4.  I'm recording my audio in Audacity and importing it into Captivate.   The audio sounds great in Audacity, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and everything else I've tested it in.  However, once I import it into Captivate and press play, it sounds horrible.  It's thin, tinny, and robotic.  The degradation in quality is considerable.  I've tried recording my audio as both .mp3s and .wavs, but they both sound bad once imported.  I've also downloaded all of the available patches, including the patch specifically designed to address poor audio quality in Captivate 4.  I've tinkered with every audio setting I can find.  No luck.  I have noticed that the shorter/smaller audio files are less garbled, and really short files are sometimes not garbled at all.  I would record directly into Captivate, but the audio sounds even worse when I do that.  Anyone have any idea how I can remedy this situation?  Just for background info, I'm running Captivate 4 on a macbook running XP via parallels.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I responded here in the forums because I figure other people might need this info as well.
    In Audacity, I go to:
Preferences -> Quality -> Default Sample Format and set it to 16 bit.
    Then click OK.
When you record new audio tracks, they should automatically be set to 16 bit.
    Does that help?

  • How do I fix bad Quality audio recording in Captivate 4

I am having trouble recording decent quality audio in Captivate 4.
What is happening is after I do the screen and audio recording when I play it back the audio is choppy.
It also kind of sounds like the audio is quickly echoed and then clipped.
Finally this clipping and choppiness seems random when it happens.
I tested this by recording 5 minutes of the demonstration (which recorded with only 1 glitch in the beginning).
When  I just recorded the second half when I played it back in Captivate it  was very choppy again throughout the audio making the complete session  unusable.
I am doing full motion recording of an application at 1024x768. I have tried all audio recording bitrates and have even gone up to 128kbps 16bit mp3.
I am using a high quality Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone.
I am running Windows Vista Service pack 2 fully updated with 4GB of memory on an Intel xeon W3503 2.4Ghz in 64 bit mode.
I have installed the latest patch update http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html 4.4.0.1 hoping that it waould solve the audio bugs to no avail.
Please let me know what else I may need to do to get Captivate 4 working like it should.
Are there any other settings or tests I should perform to get audio recording working.
Why would I even want to pay for Captivate 5 if Captivate 4 has worked so randomly for me.
Using 3rd party software like Audacity and even Adobe Soundbooth seems absurd when Captivate has audio recording built in.
For the time being I have gone back to Camtasia on another system because it actually seems to work but need to get Captivate working on my own system.

Try "Rapid Recorder" from store....it works well.

  • Stereo Audio recording in Captivate 6?

Hi, I am having problems with capturing stereo audio in sync with the video, in Captivate 6.  I am making training videos for music software and have looped back the audio from the programme into Captivate, in order to record it's output.  It monitors fine, but it looks as though Captivate is only recording the audio in mono - and there are no settings to change this.  Is this the case?  I really need stereo sound on the input, otherwise functions in the programme cannot be demonstrated correctly.  I have looked through the forums and it would seem that stereo recording was definitely included in earlier versions (as it caused some users the opposite problem of sound from a microphone only appearing on one side).  I am using Captivate version 6 on Windows 7.  Please can you help me?  Cheers, Mike

    Hi Michael,
There is no option to select the audio recording as stereo or mono at time of recording.
Can you tell me that have you installed captivate as a part of suite or it is a stand alone Product?
If you have installed Captivate as a part of E-learning suite there is a software called as Adobe Auditon which also gets installed as a part of suite , which can serve your Purpose , It can record as stereo as well as mono. and you can directly insert the audio generated from this software in Captivate.
And In Captivate also there is an option in Edit > Prefrences>Publish settings.
You can uncheck the Publish as Mono option while Publishing and check if it works for you.
    Please check the screenshot

  • How do you turn off Flash audio when using captivate Nav bar?

    Hi Guys and Girls
I have an imported flash file that plays an audio track,
I have no problem turning the audio off, when the user uses
the button within the flash file to go to the next slide in the
    captivate movie...
    on(release){
    stopAllSounds();
    _root.rdcmndNextSlide = 1;
BUT if the user decides to use the navigation bar within the
captivate movie it all goes pair shape.. The flash audio continues
to play into the next slide. Anyone have a know how to solve this
    problem?
How do you tell flash to stop playing the audio when using
    the captivate navigation bar?
(The flash file is a flip book and the audio NEEDS to stay
    within the flash file)
    Cheers

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This totally solved my issue. I had a Captivate 4 movie using an embeded animation that had audio. It would play the audio again when the next slide appeared. I have to use Captivate 4, because my audience still uses Flash 7 (yikes). However, if you have Captivate 5 and are having this problem there is a widget that solves this issue: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/11/animations-%E2%80%93-audio-sync-issue.html#commen t-3872

  • Multiple Audio Objects in Captivate 5...

    Hi,
I am looking to create a series of Captivate 5 slides that contain numerous audio objects, these objects will play the associated audio at a given time defined by mouse click, rollover, or a similar event.  The slide should remain persistent until the user clicks a button that will progress them to the next slide in which a similar format will be presented.
So the creation of the button to progress is a simple case, but the creation of the audio objects that will play due to various user events seems not so straight forward, and this may be because I am yet to find my Captivate timelines hat.
I have tried creating slidelets that I add audio to and then tried adding the On Rollover property of Execute Advanced Action.  I then created an expression in which I set a script to extract the current frame and add a value to this so that it would allow the slide to exceed the natural pause point that was created with the introduction of buttons.  However this had the undesirable effect of simply activating all audio at the same time.  When I staggered the slidelets in the time line after the pause of the button, only one of the slidelet was available, as the other were too staggered in the timeline and were not visible at the time of pausing.
I just wondered if I am on the right path here, or if there is a simple way of doing what I would like to do, which is to allow students to see text and rollover/click and hear audio of the text, or to have a button that will do this.  It may also be necessary to allow the students to see a question that when clicked on the answer will be spoken.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards.
    Captivate 5 - Version 5.0.0.596
On a 32 bit Windows XP System

Sorry to just now be writing back.  I've had a busy week (including a computer crash ).
I am wondering how you are inserting audio.  Is each audio file done separately?  Did you record one large audio file and then take clips from it?
I have found that if I try to use audio clips, it doesn't work.  I get all sorts of errors.  So I have had to splice one large audio file using another application (like audacity) and export them as a separate file with a unique file name.  Doing this solved all my problems with audio.  I used to have the same problem where I would hear the audio from the first slide over and over.
You might also want to make sure that you don't have audio set to the slide itself.  Or again, make sure it's NOT added to the rollover object, but to the caption.
I just did a test using multiple rollovers with different audio and it worked great for me with no hitches.
I think you mentioned that you have a button, too.  That's perfect because you need something that will pause the slide until the user has a chance to use all of the rollovers.
Hopefully you've had time to figure this out on your own, but if not, I hope this helps.  I think the problem has more to do with your audio than with the rollovers.

  • Audio corrupted while importing

    Hi,
I always used my Mac connected firewire with my videocamera Samsung VDP-something to import my DV tapes to iMovie. I never had problem.
Now, after 10-15 min. importing, audio results corrupted (sudden short silences interrupt speaking and sounds). I turn off everything, wait for the devices to cool down, then I turn everything on, rewind the tape and the problem disappeared: audio ok.
That makes me think that the problem is due to overheating of systems (Mac? Videocam? Both?). Is it true? Is there something I can do to avoid this problem and import the entire tape in one shot (like good-ole-days...) instead of 15min. at a time with long cooling pauses inbetween?
Has free space on disk (at the moment <10Gb) something to do with this problem?
    Thankz<br>
    PowerBook G4 15''   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Hi Fredrico
Yes I think You nailed the problem down. <10Gb free doesn't sound good.
Recomondation is to keep the hard disk with at least 10 % free space and
a full miniDV tape (about 62 min) will need more than 13 Gb.
In iMovie I haven't seen any recomondation about size of work-area (free
hard disk space) but with FinalCutExpress it's said to be about 4 to 5 times
    more than Captured.
This will rersult in about 50Gb free + 10% of hard disk space for everything to run
    smoothly.
    Sparce space will result in:
    - hard work for hard disk to download (choppy imports)
    - hard work for hard disk to manage virtual memory
    - + of course more heat and secondary heat problematics ???? may be
    - more wear and tear
    I agree with FCE-recomodation.

  • Audio problem with Captivate 7

    Hello All,
I’ve had an issue in the past that when I create an MP4 file in Captivate 7 using a windows PC, the volume is too low when the published mp4 file is played on a MAC.  I was able to use the Audio Processing setting under the Adjust Volume control on the Edit Audio screen (Edit Audio-> Adjust Volume -> Normalize (select the best volume) to get better audio on the PC.  However, when the published files are played on a MAC the audio settings are lost and have to be re-done and re-published using Captivate 7 on a MAC (so I need two versions of the software).  Is there a way I can create/publish the files on the PC and have them work the same way on a MAC with the audio settings intact?
    Thank you,
    Andre

    Hello Nathan,
Please Go to Edit > Prefrences > SWF size and quality and uncheck Advanced Project compression and Compress SWF file.
And then select All slides from Filmstrip and change the Slide Qulaity to be High(24 bit).
Then save your project and republish to a new location , see if this makes any difference or not.
    Thanks
