Audio Cremation Mode

I got a Fatality to play games and use in a home studio. The games sound nice.
(1) I thought that with a front panel I could chuck my old mixer out and use inputs at the back of the PC and the front panel too. I can't. They're either/or. This means I can't use two or more inputs simultaneously unless they're all mixed together.
(2) The effects on the Fatality are superb but as tracks record without them, repeatedly soloing tracks in playback and doing a submix would be necessary. Why on earth couldn't the effects just record in real time? You can hear them in real time.
(3) The helpfiles mention Cubase LE bundled with this card but mine only came with drivers and a demo cd. I might have made more of ASIO if I'd been able to implement it.
I'd be delighted to see the solution to any or all of these issues. My own solution otherwise will be to buy a Behringer 1204fx and Sonar 6.0. This is expensive so I'm all ears.
Thanks.
FlameDruid

I hear you brother....
I get this card, plug in my mic, grab my guitar and start laying tracks.
Then I spend countless hours drooling over the quality of effects I am applying to my tracks. Now I use Cooledit Pro so I wasn't too peeved about the POINTLESS recorder in audio creation mode....so i won't even get into that....
Then I leave the PC and come back, deciding to listen to the tracks I recorded and show my girlfriend those ever so sweet effects.........
Wha the...woah wait ehh.....
Where's the effects!?!?
I'm recording on line2mic2 and have the patch cord in the front in the right spot....what's going on!?
So I go on the forums and read some kid saying he had the same problem, and to just switch line2mic2 to "What you hear"
EXCELLENT!?
Yes for the first track. Then try laying vocals.....it's picking up the god**** last track because it's EXACTLY what you hear....
I have been spending hours and hours every single night trying to figure out how to simply record my **bleep** tracks with effects on them.
Can somone PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to either record with them on - OR i'll even settle with applying them later.....I cannot for the life of me get satifaction out of this dman thing no matter what I do....

  • Sound Blaster PCI Express - No option for AUDIO CREATION mode.

I need help. ?I purchased another computer from Dell, with a Sound Blaster board just as I have done with three other computers. ?This makes four.
I ordered it with the Sound Blaster board because of the THREE MODES, Entertainment Mode, Gaming Mode, and Audio Creation Mode. ?The Audio Creation mode is really what I want because it allows to add reverb.
So when I get this latest Dell with the Sound Blaster card it is a
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express
The Volume control does not show the three modes. GAMING, ENTERTAINMENT, and AUDIO Creation. ?It only shows the ENTERTAINMENT mode.
So I thought perhaps those were enhancements that had to be installed from the Creative Sound Blaster CD that Dell provides. ?I put the CD in the dri've, and it goes into install mode and then when you start the install it says do you want to add additional software to which I answer YES.
Then it says install your CD in the CD dri've, which of course it is already in there. ?The CD looks funky. ?No scratches, it is new, but it has an uncharacteristic distortion on the data side so it is probably bad.
I download the drivers off the Creative site and it says, you have a newer version already installed on your computer.
I have called Dell 5 times over the course of 2.5 hours being disconnected all 5 times after speaking to people with extremely thick accents that know as much about computers as I know about brain surgery.
    BOTTOM LINE
1.Does the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express have the ability to support the three modes: ?Entertainment, Gaming, and AUDIO CREATION.
If so, how do I get it to workHow do I get a new CD
    2. If this card does not support the three modes, what card doesThe Sound Blaster cards in my other three Dells all support these three modes.
    Thanks!
    Doc from Las Vegas

No the Xtreme Audio doesn't not support the three modes, it only has Entertainment mode. Any X-Fi card that is not a Xtreme Audio does support the three modes.

  • Best audio creation mode settings for monitoring?

I currently have the PCI-E X-Fi Titanium Fatality Professional and a new set of Klipsch ProMedia 2. speakers. I am a novice in music production and am looking to give myself the best driver settings in audio creation mode for the most accurate recording and monitoring possible. I realize that studio monitors are recommended for this sort of thing, but I am just getting my feet wet at this point and will be the only one listening to my mixes, so whether or not they sound good on other speakers is not that important right now.
What I am most concerned with is volume, I have read that higher volume levels in the control panel can cause distortion, but that lower volume levels cause you to lose some of the highs and lows. Is any of this true? Or does the volume make no difference? I have tried several settings, usually either leaving it at the default preset which sets the volume to 67%, or the RMAA 96 KHz preset which has it maxed at 00%. Honestly I really can't tell much of a difference, but if one setting is in fact better than another, I would like to hear it.
For right now I have been using the RMAA 96 KHz preset and turning on EAX as I do play some games from time to time. Which brings up another question, does EAX have any effect on music playback? Anyway I have messed with the EQs some, but I really want as flat a response as possible so I always have it either at Flat or disabled entirely. Klipsch recommends having the Wave volume at 70%, how can I access this from the Audio Creation mode?
Sorry, lots of questions here, hopefully someone can take a moment to help out a noob, thanks in advance.
Oh right, my specs (probably not important but whatever):
    Windows 7 Home Premium x64
PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro
    Klipsch ProMedia 2.
    Intel Q6600
    2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500
    Asus P5B-Deluxe Wi/Fi
    Nvidia 275GTX Superclocked
    Corsair 620W

Well gaming is an extremely low priority for me, I realize the game mode is best for gaming purposes but I am really interested in mixing/recording music with a MIDI controller in Ableton and finding settings that give me the most accurate monitoring, don't really care how games sound to be honest.

  • No sound in audio creation mode

I have a problem with my Soundblaster X-FI Titanium PCIe: after switching to audio creation mode, i don't hear any sound from my speaker, although the bars of the monitor in the console and the bar of the windows output devices window are showing there is a sound output. Game mode and entertainment mode are working without any problems, except the asio driver causing a system freeze when i want to use it in Traktor Pro, thatswhy i thought the asio driver might work better in audio creation mode. Does anyone have an idea why i'm not getting any sound in this mode?
    Thanks for any help
    Max

your problems are not isolated, but they do seem to be specific to all X-fi's and some other factor. There is another thread about other people experiencing crackling and popping problems. The xtreme music does have limitations in its flexibility due to no IO board, but you would have known that from a review.
Put simply, this is NOT how the card should sound - my own Xtreme music displays none of your symptoms.
As for the person talking about reviews - to what degree is this relevant? While a good review would tell you that the modes are pointless and the quality goes down in game mode, it would certainly NOT tell you that all X-Fi Xtreme music cards display crackling and popping - because they dont. This is buggy behaviour.
As for the poster talking about the X-Fi Xtreme music being a 'bridge' between the old audigies and X-Fi's, well you have no idea what you are talking about. The Xtreme music is identical to other X-Fi's except for these differences -
    no IO board
    no Xram
And these differences are definitely not the source of his problems.
The architecture is otherwise identical. It is foolish to talk of a 'bridge' and use the nvidia 6200 as a metaphor when that card has significantly poorer architecture and performance than other 6 series video cards, while the xtreme music does not.Message Edited by irR4tiOn4L on 05-26-2006 09:59 PMMessage Edited by irR4tiOn4L on 05-26-2006 0:0 PM

  • OpenAL in Audio Creation Mode with Windows 7 (Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic)

I have a problem with my X-Fi in Windows 7 64-bit. ?It's a well known issue, unfortunately -- my audio pops and crackles on and off again. ?I've tried Daniel_K's modified drivers, old and new, and the latest official drivers, but nothing has ever fixed it...
...except ONE workaround. ?For some reason, enabling Bit-Matched Playback in Audio Creation Mode removes the popping and crackling.
Which brings me to my question -- in Windows 7, does OpenAL in games basically work the same in Audio Creation Mode as it does in Game ModeThat is, are all the audio effects like the reverb, 3D positioning, etc. still in full effect in Windows 7's OpenAL, regardless of the 'mode' you have the Xi-Fi set to?
Now, I know that in Windows XP, this wasn't true... in Audio Creation Mode you lost support for EAX 4 and 5 in games, and hardware accelerated OpenAL lost audio effects like the reverb and such. ?If you wanted full-featured hardware accelerated OpenAL, you had to use Game Mode.
But as I understand it, Windows 7 is different, because hardware accelerated OpenAL has been removed from most current generation games, and everything is software-based now. ? Is that correct?
Thus, what it boils down to is that I'm hoping I can use the Bit-Matched Playback in Audio Creation Mode to work-around this pop and crackling sound issue without having to worry about losing OpenAL features in games.

QYou just reiterated what I already posted, without answering my question.
Again. ?In Windows 7, does OpenAL function the same in games regardless of what 'mode' you have the X-Fi set to ?I know that in Windows XP, hardware accelerated OpenAL lost some effects in Audio Creation Mode.... is that still true in Windows 7?

  • Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio & game mode

Hi all, I'm new here. Just recieve a present - this audio card http://shop.key.ru/shop/goods/37544/ , cant apply x-fi settings in battlefield 2.
my friends saying that this audio card doesn't support one thing called "game mode" can you tell me what is it and what should I do?
in one window (called console I think) there is "entertainment mode", but no "change mode" button
Message Edited by frostspb on 04-29-2009 2:4 PM

Yup, this card (xtreme audio) only has a single mode, Entertainment Mode that's all!
Also do note that unlike the rest X-Fi this particular model is not an X-Fi at all (despite bearing the same family name). It uses a non-X-Fi APU and does most effects processing in software!

  • Audio creation mode drive p

Hi,?Hoping someone has done this so will know the answer. I partitioned my 320gb dri've into three sections, the smaller one, for the operating system was limited to 34gig. When I record audio using my X-FI it seems to store it on my C Dri've (34gig) as some sort of temporary file until the recording stops, then i get the option of where to save it. Is there any way to change the dri've that it stores the temporary file on? Basically as it is I cant record for more than 20 min as it says I have ran out of space, but theres plenty of space left on my other dri'ves, it just seems to be using the smaller 34gig partition. If you can help or know how to do this please let me know ?Cheers

You should be using the console to adjust inputs effects and levels and a separate program for recording large files,?like the included WaveStudio or SmartRecorder,?there are also?free ones like [url="http://audacity.sourceforge.net/">Audacity[/url]. In those you can choose the path for temporary file. Otherwise you'll have to change the TEMP folder path for your Windows User Account, in System properties-> Advanced tab?-> Environment Variables. If you want help with BF and EAX, post more details of your system and your problems, (preferably in a new thread so other members with the same problems can spot it and share tips)

  • X-fi Xtreme Audio - Can't access/install mode switcher

I've been trying to access the touted 'Audio Creation Mode' for its bit-matched playback and sound quality, however I don't have any of the fancy creative driver programs - instead I have a standard Windows 7 menu, with 8 tabs. (I'll try to get screens if it comes to it).
I double checked my drivers, I am on V .04.0090, however upon attempting to install 'Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Pack .04.0079' , I recieve the error 'Driver Version is not found', preventing me from installing the mode switcher and audio console...
Stumped on how to fix this,? thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Well thanks, but in that case I'm confused by why the post the audio pack alongside the Xtreme Audio in the download section... surely it was meant to be compatible if placed there?

  • Play audio in background without background mode key as audio in info-plist

My application requires background audio in some conditions but not always, say when a particular screen is active in that case, i want to play audio in background and for that i have specified background key for Audio in info-plist. But my app is not getting approved having following reason:
While your app has declared support for audio in the UIBackgroundModes key in your Info.plist, no audio is played when users switch to another application. The audio background mode is meant for applications with audio streams, like radio applications. You'll need to provide audible content to the user while the app is in the background or remove the "audio" setting from the UIBackgroundModes key.
so , is there a way for playing audio in background without specifying background mode key ? or app getting approved with this key mentioned ?
    thanks in advance

  • X-Fi Elite Pro: Which mode for best audio output?

I need your help in determining the best audio output (level and clarity). Up until now, I use the Entertainment mode (6bit/44.KHz) and the Audio Creation mode (in 96KHz, not sure at what bit depth this modes works though...). I need to find the best mode and in-mode settings to achieve maximum audio output level (in terms of dynamic range and dB level)as well as optimal sound clarity. For the latter, I believe that the sound should be unadulterated, so additional enhancements such as EAX, Crystalizer, CMSS etc should not be used...
    Any help will be appreciated

    Hello Hyperion,
I can try to answer this.
My experience (and you know that listening to audio and the quality is objectionable), I listen through "Gaming Mode". This seems to be the best "playback sound quality" at least for my ears.
Additionally, I really don't care for digital output, its not my preference so I have the MAUDIO E66's connected through analog. Simple but seems to be effecti've in terms of listening and not tiring to the ears.
"the sound should be unadulterated, so additional enhancements such as EAX, Crystalizer, CMSS etc should not be used"... I absolutley agree, to an extent. I setup my elite pro with the basic very "vanilla", but in the end, I do use the Crystalizer (set to "2"). I don't beli've in eqalization or very little, but the reality is unless you have a perfectly designed room acoustically, you will probobly benefit from some form of oversampling such as I stated. I would like others to chime in and share what operating systems they use. For best playback quality, I have found 2008 Server serves me well. But, motherboard, cpu, memory of course plays out as major hardware for consideration.
Anyway, I'm getting a bit off topic here - would really like to hear from Creative on this. What do they use in testing (mode, software, motherboard, cpu, memory).

  • X-Fi Elite Pro - how to change from Entertainment mode to Audio Creation m

Upon installation of my X-Fi Elite Pro, I was asked to choose one of three options, namely Entertainment, Audio Creation, and Gaming.
I chose Entertainment, simply because I listen to vast amount of music. However, I am also a Digital Music Creation student, so the Audio Creation mode is also appealing. Apparently each of these modes uses different hardware on the X-Fi PCI card.
The trouble is this - is there any way to change the mode in the installed Creative software, or do I have to run the entire installation process every single time I want to change the settings? That's a 20-minute round-trip.

    atheos,
You can change mode whenever you wish, just go to Start> All Programs> Creative> Soundblaster X-Fi > Creative Mode Switcher. You can use that to select which mode you need, when you need it. For instance, if you are about to launch a game, switch to game mode first, or if you want to do some recording/audio creation, switch to the audio creation mode.

  • Exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody can help me out with exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere CS4 version 4.1.0?
I have a 3min long HD 5.1 clip that I need to cut down to 60seconds and add fade transitions to. The final clip will be used in a media player with very specific spec - the clip needs to remain HD 1080p with a frame rate of 29.97 and a maximum CBR of 38. The audio must be 5.1 aac. The format can be mpeg 2 or h.264. The overall quality loss needs to be minimal.
Up to now I have been cutting up footage that only needs to be stereo and I found the best way to to this while keeping quality was to use Prem Pro and export as mpeg 2 1080p 29.97, quality:5, bitratre: CBR 38, audio as mpeg layer 2 (as these clips were stereo only). These clips played back fine and looked great so I wanted to keep the 5.1 clip process as close to this as possible.
So far all I have been able to get from Premiere Pro is an audio codec called DVD_LPCM which the media player will not recognise. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to 5.1 audio so I may be doing something obviously wrong...
    - I have purchased the 5.1 surcode codec and its activated.
    - I have started a new AVCHD (I need 1920x1080) 1080p 29.97  project with a 5.1 audio master
    - The orignal file is an mpeg which I have pulled into PPro and selected Clip > Audio > Breakout to mono
    - I take the 6 mono channels in the project panel and put them into thier own mono tracks in the sequence.
    - the video I use is the original mpeg with the 5.1audio muted in the sequence.
    - When i select each track in the project panel and go to Clip > Audio > Source channel mappings, I see that track has already been allocated a source channel. So I go to the Audio Mixer panel and adjust the 5.1 panners for each tyrack according to what the Source Channel Mapping window has told me - Audio 1 is is L, audio 2 is R, audio 3 is LS, 4 -  Rs, 5- C and 6- LFE
    - I cut the video and all the mono track to the 60seconds I need and export using these settings:
    Video - exactly as before
    Audio -
Format - Dolby Digital, Codec - SurCode, Audio Coding Mode: 3/1 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs - 5.1 Surround), LFE: on.
The clip exports with DVD_LPCM 5.1 audio. Is it to do with the AVCHD preset? Could anyone help me get aac? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Using AME and the SurCode Plug-in, here's how the dialog screen looks for the Audio Tab in PrPro 2.0. It should be similar in CS4:
You do have the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, right?
Good luck, and hope that this is helpful.
    Hunt
PS - note that in the screen-cap, I have composited the dialog box, as though it fully displayed, with no need to scroll it. Depending on your display, you may need to scroll, and your scroll bars will look different from what you see here - just ignore that part of it.

  • Third Party X-Fi Mode Switching Softw

I recently ran across an issue which is documented in this thread:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=53809
What I found out raised an interesting possibility: it should fairly easy to make software to switch modes with X-Fi sound cards. The community only needs to work together to make some third party software to get the job done.
When modes are switched for the X-Fi, the following folder is utilized (on XP, at any rate):
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Creative\Spi\
    {00000005-00000000-00000007-000002-00000005-00202}\Modes
The files which are involved are named as such:
    CTXFICMu.ini
    CTXFICMu.rfx
    CTXFIEMu.ini
    CTXFIEMu.rfx
    CTXFIGMu.ini
    CTXFIGMu.rfx
The two 'CTXFICMu' files correspond to Audio Creation Mode, while the 'CTXFIEMu' files match Entertainment Mode and the 'CTXFIGMu' files match Game Mode.
The *.ini files are text files containing mixer information for each mode, and the *.rfx files are binary files. I suspect the *.rfx files may be related to the programmable nature of the audio chip, but I haven't messed around with them too much since it is outside the scope of my abilities.
The CTXFISPI.EXE process is making the reads and writes to these files, which seems to indicate that it does the dirty work when it comes to changing the modes of the card.
If the community can determine how to encourage CTXFISPI.EXE to switch modes (or if Creative decides to be forthcoming with the details), then third party apps can be developed to make the switch easier (tray app menu), faster (no animations), more efficient, and seamless (a scriptable method for changing modes would be great!).
Additionally, it shouldn't be too hard to make software which allows for per user mixer settings with the X-Fi. It is only a matter of switching in a particular user's *.ini and *.rfx files to the Modes directory before CTXFISPI.EXE loads them at log in, and then saving the same files again at log off.
So, I have a request for Creative: would you please release some documentation about how to switch modes programmatically or even from the command line?
I'm also throwing out this challenge to the community: if Creative is unable or unwilling to release the information needed, then let's get under the hood of the X-Fi and decode mode switching ourselves. If someone can expose how mode switching works, then I would be more than happy to whip up an interface for it.
    Drailex_Mauder

I have created a quick fix for the lack of mode switching options currently available. I would like to program something more feature rich in C, but for now VBScript is better than nothing. If we don't get a leg up from Creative, it may be a while as I will have to look into reverse engineering the software. This would require learning some new skills on my part.
These scripts work by loading the Creative Audio Console and pushing the appropriate keystrokes to change the mode. It is a dirty way to get the job done, but until more is known about how to change modes through CTXFISPI.EXE these scripts will have to do.
I am releasing these scripts under a BSD licence, which appears at the end of this message. Kinda silly for such small blocks of code, but it's there more to cover my assets with the legal disclaimer than anything else.
Copy each block of code into a separate text file and make sure that the file name ends in a VBS extension. Any up to date 2000 or XP machine should run these scripts no problem. I have placed shortcuts to the scripts in my Quick Launch Toolbar so that I can quickly change modes.
You could also add them to a script which switches to game mode, runs your game, and then switches back to entertainment mode.
VERY IMPORTANT: The Creative Audio Console must not be running when you run one of these scripts, otherwise the script will randomly change your settings.
And once again, if anyone can assist in determining how to coax CTXFISPI.EXE into switching modes, this will take things a long way to creating 3rd party mode switching software which meets the goals of my original post in this thread.
