Audio cuts out most of the way through an iDVD image

We created a Quicktime file using Final Cut Express HD 3.5, and imported the Quicktime fill into iDVD 6 (all patches have been applied to iDVD and to Quicktime, and Quicktime has been upgraded to Pro version). The iDVD preview shows that all audio is present all the way through the end of the video(about 1 hour and 5 minutes), which means that the Quicktime file has all the audio present.
However, after creating a DVD disk image with iDVD 6, the audio cuts out completely about 55 minutes into the video. The spot where the audio cuts out is not near any chapter marker nor near any transition of any kind in the Final Cut editor session.
By the way, I am creating the image on an external Firewire drive with 112 Gbyte free, although we also tried the internal hard drive which has about 20Gbyte free.
How can I figure out how to get all the audio onto the image created by iDVD?

I believe I've found the cause of the problem! Within Final Cut Express, I found a system setting for output buffer size, set by default to 2Gbyte. I also found that the default 'Convert to Quicktime' setting is for Internet Fast Start. I increased the buffer size from 2Gbyte to 3Gbyte and unchecked Internet Fast Start, and I have no more audio drop out!
I think that iDVD has a bug when multiple file segments are linked together in the Quicktime file (because of the smaller FCE output buffer size). Note that the iDVD preview did not experience the problem, so that part of the iDVD app seems to handle multiple file segments correctly, whereas the part that processes the file segments while creating the DVD image seems to have the bug. Increasing the buffer size masked the iDVD bug.
So if anybody from Apple is listening, please fix your iDVD bug please!
Concerning the ZR85, I do re-use tapes quite a lot and have never experienced problems. I do clean the ZR85 heads periodically. However, I shall consider using new tapes more often.

I am trying to crop a portrait photo into 6x4 portrait ready for printing.  I am using Iphoto on a Macbook Pro.  Everytime I try and crop the photo, it crops in Landscape which cuts out most of the photo.  Is there any way of resolving this?  I am new to Macs as I am currently switching from MS.  It is very easy to do this in MS photo editor so I can't believe it can't be easily done in Iphoto!

  • Apple TV audio cuts out when its the output device

    Guys,
I have a 2011 iMac and select AppleTV in my output devices, play some tunes from iTunes or Spotify, and it will play for a while but it will eventually start cutting out and eventually drop completely.  Instead of rebooting, I have to run the command
    sudo kill `ps -ax | grep 'coreaudiod' | grep 'sbin' |awk '{print $1}'`
to restart the core audio service.
Is this an AppleTV issue or a router issue?  My AppleTV is plugged into my Asus router via ethernet.  My iMac uses wireless as well as my iPhone and iPad.  The issue is still present when using airplay with my wireless devices.   The audio will start sounding glitch-y, then completely cut out.  Annoying when trying to enjoy music on the porch.
    Appreciate any input!

Also, I had never seen iTunes show this orange status color in iTunes...

  • Audio cuts out in the final minutes of a 1.5 hour movie

My burned DVD has great sound, EXCEPT that the audio cuts out completely for the last 5 minutes or so of the last chapter. My project is about 90 minutes long and contains camcorder footage, pictures and added background music (not protected). I've checked the movie file - it's fine, and everything previews fine in iDVD. The DVD was encoded with "Professional" quality.
Perhaps it's too long? but no errors were reported. Advice?

Possible Explanation and Solution: I had assembled my movie from two m4v files, the "large" exports produced by iMovie when you share projects to the media browser. I used QT Pro to simply copy and paste one onto the end of the other, and saved as a .mov. I thought this was a clever solution to the lack of a "Play All" problem in iDVD. All my chapters and everything worked beautifully in iDVD preview. But then the audio dropped out on the final output. Oh Well, it almost worked!
With no other solution in sight, I recreated my DVD project this time with the two separate .m4v movies from the Media Browser and everything works on the finished disk. I have the annoying return to the menus, but at least I finally have a complete disk.
Take home lesson: Bite the bullet and assemble your complete DVD movie in one iMovie '09 project. The convenience of dividing it into smaller projects is a trap - there's no good way to put them back together for the final DVD. What a pain.

  • Encore: Audio from imported mpeg goes missing 1/4 of the way through the video

I have an mpeg that I imported into Encore and the audio stops working part of the way through the video. There are no issues with the audio outside of Encore...it plays throughout the entire video. Any suggestions on what could be the issue?

    Rob,
Never used Elements, so not familiar with what the Export options are. However, H.264 is best used an a delivery format and not an "intermediate" codec. By first converting to H.264, then letting Encore transcode again, there is quality loss. If you must use an intermediate, an .avi would be a better choice, something high-quality with less compression. For instance the free Lagarith or UT codecs are great (just download/install) if Elements export options would let you configure something like that. Basically a lossless encode step (or as close to lossless as possible). Then bring that .avi into Encore.
To add to Stan's comment, IF Elements does have an "H.264 Blu-ray" export option available, that should result in .m4v and .wav clips, m2t is not part of the equation.
    Thanks
    Jeff

My streaming video audio will cut out for several seconds at a time then return to normal again.  I can, when the audio cuts out, turn up the manual volume on my surround sound to hear however when audio returns, I get blasted until I turn down the surround sound again.   High CPU utilization *may* be a contributor to this problem - currently averaging about 95%.
What can I do to correct this problem?

    Hi MDS,
Here are the possible HP products for a Touchsmart 9100. Both models do not list Win 7 Home Premium as an HP supported operating system. Did you upgrade from Vista to Win 7 or did you perform a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium?
Both models also reflect this updated driver version (6.0.1.5932) for Realtek High Def Audio. You have driver version (6.0.1.7076) installed on your PC.
You could try installing the version per the above link if you have Win 7 Pro 32 bit or 64 bit installed.
Try checking your file system by opening an administrative command prompt and entering the following: sfc /scannow
You may have to schedule this task to run at the next boot. Please reboot your system to run the task.
Do you know which process is consuming all of your PC's CPU time?
    Jaco

  • I have been watching a rental movie and the audio cut out half way through, tried restoring the apple TV now I've lost the rental.

I have just been watching (The  Adjustment Bureau) a rental movie and about half way through the audio cut out, I tried rerunning the chapter but still the same problem so I tried the restoring function and now I have lost the 48 hrs viewing of the movie. So how do I get the movie back without paying for it again and is this problem likely to reoccoure and if so how do I rest without loosing the movie?

    Hi David.
This must be a glitch in the movie file on the iTunes server because my husband and I just reached the same point in he film (The Adjustment Bureau) and no audio! Totally cuts out and doesn't come back in. We tried the same - turned off, signed out, and also couldn't see the rental in the menu... Sign out, sign back in and click 'Check for rentals' in the 'General' menu just under where you signed in.
It may come up with a negative 'no more rentals can be found' or similar but go back to the main screen and check anyway. It should be there.

  • Audio cuts out half way through video after conversion.

I just put together some video clips I've shot into a single video, then ran it through conversion. Half way through the completed video, the audio cuts out for the rest of the film. Yet in iMovie, it's still there. I've converted twice and it cuts out in the same spot. Could corruption in a single clip, kill the audio for the following clips? Since it takes hours to convert, I thought I'd ask before deleting the suspect clip and starting again.
I've spliced together clips before without problem, using the same camera source.
    Thanks.
    Cheers

I figured a work-around. From the clip where the audio cut out till the end, I dragged those clips to a new iMovie project. After converting, the sound was intact for that portion. Then I opened the complete version with audio cut-off in Quicktime Pro. Deleted the the half with audio loss. Then joined the new half I just created. Voila!
Only when I went to post the video on my vlog, did my Internet connection die (Comcast strikes again).

  • Audio cutting out at the end of my video

So I exported a AVCHD video into an uncompressed AVI and then re imported it. I brought it into the time line and edited it a bunch and also brought in another video and mixed that in. For about half of the video, I used the audio from the video itself... but in different sections, I brought in a separate wav file. I used this wav file towards the end of the video for about 1 minute of the video. After I was done, I exported the entire project into a normal avi file because what I'm going to do for now is upload these to YouTube and so I don't want the file sizes to be too huge.
So I opened up the final avi file in VLC player... and everything is great... except the last 30 seconds or so of the video doesn't have the audio. It plays the audio from the wav about halfway through... and then it stops. The video continues... but there is no sound.
I went back into the project and everything looks fine. The wav file extends to the end and the audio plays fine when I preview the video. So I exported again just to see if it was some sort of error the first time... but no... it did the same thing.
So why is the audio cutting out at the end? How do I fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok I figured out how to do a better quality MP4. However I had two problems. 1... the quality isn't near as good as the AVI. 2... now the audio cuts out in even more places instead of just the end. It seems that the .wav file I imported is causing the problems. In the AVI, the wav file cuts out at the end. In the MP4, the wav file cuts out in the middle AND at the end. I don't understand why this is happening. The wav file plays all the way through normaly, and it also sounds find when I preview the video... but when I encode it... it cuts out in places regardless of the format. Is there some step I'm missing in the process to make sure the audio is all in place?

  • Encoded FLV audio cuts out half way

I'm trying to encode a.mov file to .flv using Flash Video
Encoder CS3. Every time I encode, no matter what settings I use,
the audio just stops half way through when played back in Flash. If
I encode in Squeeze, it works.
    What's the deal?

I am having the same problem. I am outputting a video from
Final Cut Pro to QT, then checking my QT file to make sure the
audio is there, then I encode in Flash Video Encoder CS3, and like
the person below me, the audio cuts half way through the video.
I was using a 480x360 QT file and converting to 15 fps
480x360 flv, audio cuts out. Using a 320x240 QT file and converting
to 15 fps 320x240, audio is there.

    Hey robr72339266,
With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.
Please Contact | Adobe to seek help on the same.

  • Why, after three months of apple tv working perfectly fine, is it now cutting out constantly and the audio and video out of sinc?!@

Why, after three months of apple tv working perfectly fine, is it now cutting out constantly and the audio and video out of sinc?

Playing rentals, Netflix, from local iTunes, other?
Firstly restart router and AppleTv after unpowering to see if that helps - may or may not but quick and easy to try.
Connection via ethernet or wifi?  If wifi are there any new devices in the house which may be causing interference or new neighbouring networks?  If feasible try to eliminate wifi issues by using an ethernet connection.

    What version of FCP X?
Did you render? what are the project specs? do you use many compound clips? how much ram, hard drive space, how is the hard drive connected?
It looks like your mac can't keep up. Maybe the bottleneck is the hard drive, or something else.
Try exporting a master file and see if the video is ok.
Also, keep Activity Monitor open and see how much memory pressure you've got.

  • Audio and Video sound cuts out when adjusting the volume whilst playing powerpoint presentations

I have just bought a new hp laptop and when running power point presentations with embedded media (for my job) I cannot adjust the volume of the sound when the audio or video file is playing. It simply cuts out and stops the video or sound from playing. I thought at first that this might be an Office 2010 issue but now it seems more likely to be a setting on the laptop. If anyone has any answers they would be much appreciated!! Many Thanks

I hear you on this. I just tested out the 3GS video for a concert where band mixed electronica and guitars.. boom boom satellites and I noticed when close to the speaker side of the stage the sound cut in/out. But when I moved farther away sound remained consistant.
What I may suggest is lowering the volume to mid range when closer to your sound source then
correct (if needed) using outside software.. iMovie Final Cut, etc..
Yes, I wasn't to please about losing sound on a what I recorded.. ~A~
