Audio Devices Not Correctly Listed in Dropdown

I am using XP and using FMLE 3.2 and I uninstalled a program that had an audio device associated with it.
Well, that audio device still shows up in the audio dropdown. Even though it's not labeled as the correct audio device I actually have, I have to use it in order to output audio (otherwise, nothing gets outputted).
I've tried clearning the registry and doing a fresh install of FMLE, but it doesn't work.
How do I clean up this entry and have the actual audio device that I have, to be selected and show the audio output?

Try resetting PRAM and SMC.

+Audio device not detected in control panelsa I've been using my X-Fi Platinum with Windows 7 64-bit fine for around a month now. Recently I encountered a problem where I couldn't record any sound including talking on Teamspeak. I decided to reinstall the drivers, so I cleaned them out with a driver cleaner tool, and reinstalled. Everything works fine again, but none of the applications will work anymore. They all give an error message about not being able to detect the device. This includes AutoUpdate, Creative Audio Control Panel, and Creative Console Launcher. The card appears to be working correctly everywhere else: Device manager, teamspeak works fine now, windows recorder, guitar rig (guitar amp emulator), dx diag, all working well.
I also tried installing Daniel_K's driver pack to no avail.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In - h8-1070t

Seeing this message in control panel/display drivers for HDMI on my video card.
In short I will get sound occasionally out of my HDMI card which is plugged into my stereo. Randomly the sound wil cut out and I get this message: AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In
Occasionally when I restart my computer it works again, but only for a short time. I have reinstalled the drivers from AMD with no luck.
    Stats below:
    Model: h8-1070t
    Product: LP028AV#ABA
    Video Card: AMD Radeon 6850
    Much appreciated for any help!

I have the same problem and have just begun looking into it. I have my Radeon 7570 hooked up to a Panasonic TV with the HDMI connection. After a reboot of the computer and turning on the TV it works, but if I change the input on the TV to something else and then come back to the HDMI input the computer is connected to, the sound is lost. The computer then reports that the AMD device is not plugged in and it switches the default to the standard speakers.
Elsewhere I've seen it reported that updated AMD drivers have corrected the problem for some, but when I used AMD's automated driver detector and downloader it complained that it couldn't identify the 7570. So HP's version of the 7570 doesn't seem to match AMD's. So it's up to HP to provide an updated video driver to correct this problem.
    Let's hope they do.

  • M-audio device not detected

I keep getting this message no matter what I do. Every time I try to op the M-audio firewire software, PT m-powered 7, I always get that message. "m-audio device not detected on this mac". I can't figure it out.

Is the device turned on? The blue light should be solid blue (not flashing).
If it never goes solid blue, try a different cable, try using the adapter power (not bus power). Run System Profiler and check that your firewire bus does not say "No information found". Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. Is the audio device shown in the System Preferences -> Sound drivers? Is the audio device one of the few compatible ones with PT M-Powered?
Never hot plug the firewire cable, especially if any device is bus powered.
See where that lot gets you...

  • "ATI HDMI output: ATI High Definition Audio Device not plugged in"

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion p6210t PC running Windows 7. A few days ago, the sound stopped working, out of the blue. In Device Manager, it says ATI HDMI output / ATI High Definition Audio Device not plugged in." Computer is not connected with a TV, just a set of basic Logitech speakers.
I really have no idea how this might have happened. Any ideas on fixing this? I've rebooted and all that basic stuff, but nothing. Thanks!

Never mind, somehow the speakers were not set as default devices for sound. Fixed.

  • "AMD HDMI Output -AMD High Definition Audio Device not plugged in

i have an HP Pavilion dv6-6110us laptop. i have had this laptop for less than 1 month and the sound is not working at all. I checked to make sure nothing was muted, i uninstalled the soundcard and reinstalled it on Device Manager, and still, I cannot manage to get the sound back on. the audio settings says "AMD HDMI Output -AMD High Definition Audio Device not plugged in) ..but i have no clue how to "plug it in". Help!!!?

Hey! You essentially have two sound cards, including the HDMI. First, make sure you're using the ATI graphics card, and not the Intel, when you want to use the HDMI.
Next, go to Windows Control Panel\Sound
On the playback tab (which shows by default), WHEN YOUR HDMI IS PLUGGED IN AND WORKING, you should see two playback devices: Your internal sound card/speakers, and the AMD HDMI. All you need to do is switch between the playback device you want the sound to be channelled to. You can switch this at any time. I do this when watching in the other room via my projector, or in my comp. room. Just select the HDMI sound device and choose the button on bottom-middle "Set Default". This will change the "default device" tag to below the HDMI playback device. To reset, either unplug the HDMI, or switch it here. This is always the first place you should look when you have sound issues.
Because I switch quite often, I have a shortcut link on my desktop to this sound menu, for quick switching.
If this doesn't work, make sure you have drivers for your ATI video card installed. Check you exact model and make sure your bios is up to date. They have made for switchable graphics now, which is much preferable to the previous auto-detect switch. The drivers are updated, as well. The latest HP drivers for the ATI were released in November. You can install these, then install the latest AMD/ATI Mobility Video Driver package over the top to make sure you have the latest video drivers. Either of these packages includes the HDMI audio driver, which you may not have installed.

  • In-built Audio device not found

    Hi Guys,
My macbook pro suddenly finds no audio device inbuilt. And i can play no sound nor hear start up sound when switching on mac.
I get a 'no parking' like symbol beneath my audio options.
I've tried rebooting in safe mode, Resetting PRAM, Repairing permissions in disk utilities, use my ipod touch headsets, headphones.. NOthing worked.
And i'm feeling deaf whenever using Mac now.
Is there anyway to get the audio back ?
    Thanks,
    Raesh

Hmm.. Okay. Would give it a last try.
And I have a couple question before doing that..
    1. I did the hardware test and It gave me this error .. " 4SNS/1/C0000008 :TPCD--24 "
But When i looked up for this error, it tells me a sensor problem. Not as Audio device problem. Do you think this hardware error of 'sensor' has something to do with audio ?
    2. So in-built speaker isn't working, plugging in headphones cable isn't working. But i was wondering whether a bluetooth speaker would be recoganised in the system preferences > audio output device ? Will it work ?
Because i keep on reading that an " in-built audio device not found " problem is a huge one and it costs a lot to repair. They often provide solution of changing the whole logic board (Keeping fingers crossed). And with my warranty period over, I don't wish to go through that path.  So want to know if external bluetooth speaker has a chance to get recoganised as an audio device, Then I would buy JBL bluetooth speakers. It seems good and less pricey than changing the whole logic board.
Let me know which way i can go, Thanks in Advance Man.

  • 2.6.35.3 Hardware Audio devices not in Pulse/Alsa

I use Pulseaudio and up to this update it worked well. Now Pulse works with my USB Soundcard but it doesn't recognize (it's not even listed as a source in the manager) my HDA Intel card.
The card seems to get detected somehow as I can do "cat /dev/urandom > /dev/audio" and hear the expected white noise from the speaker plugged into the internal card. Is there some easy way to find out which devices alsa sees and test which work?
Btw. the USB audio works over Alsa so this ain't broken completely and I can also see HDA Intel in alsamixer when switching sound cards with F6

Sometimes when the driver for your specific card has changed (alsa-level) you'll need to reconfigure.

  • Yamaha XG-AC Audio device not working after SP2 for XP was installed

i'm new in this forum and maybe my question is a stupid one but i'm not able to solve this problem.
My Satellite 5200-801 doesn't make any sound after i've installed SP2 for XP. I tried to find a new driver for Yamaha XG-AC Audio Device( the one that doesn't work is 6.13.10.2152 (date 19/07/2002)but i was not able to find anything.
Please, could you help me ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I found another posting in this forum about this issue!
Your Satellite 5200-802 has a sound chip called Yamaha YMF753 and it is built in different notebooks! This chip does make problems with Service Pack 2 because MS regards the Yamaha AC-XG sound driver as being unstable. When Service Pack 2 is installed, Windows will disable the sound driver.
Here are some links which could help you!

  • AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In (HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa)

I have just booted up my HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa (running on Windows 7) laptop to find that the sound icon has a red cross next to it and it claims that 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in'. In the Control Panel it states that the AMD High Definition Audio Device is Not Plugged In. As far as I know, I've done nothing to cause this.I have already tried:System restore to yesterday at 10pm;Instalation of a TDI driver from the HP website, however I do not know how to edit/disable/delete the old driver. I'm completely clueless about these things. Please help, I'm at a complete loss.

This happened to me too. I own an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr (Windows Vista). The internal hard drive stopped working, I took it to a computer repair shop, they put in a new internal hard drive, asked Microsoft for a key code and jump started the laptop. I took it home with me yesterday, watched a few videos and wondered why the sound wasn't working. The volume light on the laptop base was indicated as red (which meant the volume was off, even when the volume on the laptop screen was on). The only way I was able to hear sounds from videos was when I put my ear phones on.
I read somebody say that this happened to them and they restarted/rebooted their computer. I did that and, expectedly, it didn't work.  I came across this page, opened up "Device Manager," opened up "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right-clicked the "IDT Device" and then uninstalled it. My laptop then restarted and thankfully the sound was back up. I didn't need to download anything or right click the "IDT Installer" or "Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button" or any of that. It thankfully came back without me having to do any of that. I restarted/rebooted my computer to see if it was a fluke, and thankfully it worked again.  Now I don't have to use my ear phones. My ears didn't like being pumped with sound, even when it was on low. My "Digital Display Audio" is still not checked green. It says that it's "not plugged in." But hopefully I won't run into this problem again in the future. Because if I'm a week or two or a month removed, the repair people I initially went to for my internal hard drive problem, will say that this was a separate issue caused by me and will charge me extra, when it was in fact caused by them (not maliciously of course, I guess this kind of thing happens when you replace a hard drive, as do a lot of other things which I'm not beginning to see). Thanks DavidPK.

  • Audio devices not working when upgraded to windows 7

    Dear Community members and Lenovo...
After uggrading my Lenovo N100 0768 54A from Windows Vista Home premium to Windows 7 Home premium, As some of our friends put up here, audio is not functioning. The mixer shows balancing in sound, the device driver shows, working, but the audio problem is still not resolved even after 3 weeks. I am really fedup with the audio driver installation over three weeks. The drivers tried, are both from lenovo site and realtek site. Still I could not solve the problem.
When upgarded from Win-XP to Windows Vista, realtek was not functioning, through our forum some of our friends suggested to install soundmax driver which was working well then. Now, Audio is the only problem. could Lenovo solve my problem. Some more community members could please help me out.

    Hi:
While trying to help you, I was looking along the same lines as you were (I assume).
I did a search by the IDT 92HD73E audio codec and all I could find were drivers for system boards with Intel processors such as the driver you tried unsuccessfully.
I have finally found a W8.1 driver for that codec from a desktop PC with an AMD processor and chipset.
    See if this one works...

The "Windows Audio Service" is automatically started.
Is there a way to check if the audio device has stopped working or if this problem is a software issue?  Should we do a fresh Vista Installation?

PROBLEM: A message pops up saying "The audio device supported by this application is not detected" when clicking on any Creative Utilities like EAX Console or the Speakers Control Panel.
SOLUTION: After 6 hours of trying out all solution advices/attempts for the problem above, I figured that there are only 2 ways to get rid of this issue.

  • Audio device not detected by Creative Audio Control Panel

I cannot get creative audio control panel to work, I keep getting an error message saying the audio device supported by this application is not detected. I have had this problem using xp, vista and now windows 7. It seems to work after a reformat and clean install but will eventuslly stop working again for some reason.
I have read a few posts with people having the same problem but cannot find a solution.
It is getting quite annoying having to reformat all the time just to temporarily?fix this so if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.

I also looked at the details of the driver and it shows a whole buch of driver, even two unsigned. Are all these neccesary? Maybe I have to many old drivers conflicting?

Also the volume mixer seems empty, although it shows the playback device when pointing over the square, I can't select it.

  • No sound and audio device not working properly, T61 vista

I unistalled the audio device SoundMax integrated HD audio because I had problems getting the mic of my new webcam (Logitech pro 9000) to work. But after reinstalling the SoundMax audio driver the audio device is no longer working.
Installing the SoundMax driver doesn't report any problems and the device manger also says that the SoundMax integrated digital hd audio device is working properly. But the speaker icon on the taskbar is crossed out. When hovering the mouse over the speaker icon it says Volume: 0 SoundMax integrated digital hd audio. When opening the Volume Mixer it says "No audio decivice is installed"...
I've completly removed all drivers and reinstalling several times but I cannot get it to work so I really need some help now.
All software + drivers regarging the webcam has been completly removed.
    System data:
    T61, Vista business
Audio chip seems to be a Analog Devices 1984
SoundMax driver version 6.10.1.5510 (latest available from lenovo)

Really silly bug, but there are times with the T series laptops, specifically the T61s that seem to not project the sound through the speakers and the way to fix it is to just keep hitting the silver volume buttons up by your power button on the actual laptop.  This may or may not work for you, but I literally just got done with this on a T61 running a fresh installation of XP.  The buttons on the lenovo itself control the direct signal input and do a very poor job with integrating with Windows Vista and XP.
Let me know if that works for you.
