Audio disabled in Skype when using Digital Camcorder

Hello guys,
I have a question regarding using DV Camcorder for Skype videochat. I have Mac Pro, OS X Leopard.
I am using digital Camcorder which is connected to Mac via FireWire connection. The problem is, that person I chat with is seeing my video fine, but cannot hear my audio. (I am using a standard external microphone connected to the camcorder via XLR, and camcorder shows that audio is received fine)
Is there any setting I have to change? Or anything else I have to adjust in order to fix this problem?

There must be some users out there who for some odd reason don't won't the digital output to be mutable. Are they the majority of digital output users? Seems unlikely.
Can't we get our mute key back as an option for digital out in the Sound prefs panel?

Disable print output when using bapi BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE

Hello,
I am using BAPI BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE to post material documents in our programs.
I wish to prevent the print output of the documents created by the BAPI.
Meaning - when the user post good movement using MIGO, there will be a printout of the movement, but if the movement is created using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE, no output will be printed.
I have tried sending blank values in fields VER_GR_GI_SLIP & VER_GR_GI_SLIPX in GOODSMVT_HEADER structure, but to no avail.
Is there a way to disable printing ONLY when using the BAPI?

Hi,
We cant restrict the print preview or print out of the material document. Once the condition record has maintianed for the material document, it ll applicable for all the material doc . It would be manual Gr or BAPI GR.
In your case Print is coming automatically or user is taking the print !!

Disable finger input when using stylus

Hi,
It would be really very useful for those of us with Galaxy Notes to have an option to disable finger input when using the device's stylus. It could be that finger input should still be usable for pinch/zoom etc., but not for drawing or erasing.
An on-screen toggle button for this would be ideal, as in the Galaxy S-Note app, but even an option in the app preferences would be excellent.
This would make a great mobile app even better.

I think this is a good idea, with the proviso (as you mentioned), that you could still use the two finger pan/zoom (and three finger 100% zoom toggle).
Why don't you stick this in the ideas section? Then people can vote on it.

Beginning of audio cut off when using digital optical out

Hi all,
This is my first post here since switching to Mac earlier this year.
I'm having problems with the first second or so of audio being cut off when commencing playback using the Mac's digital optical out. This happens with any source of audio in a variety of different applications (e.g. video, iTunes, even system sounds for notifications and the like). I have used a mini Toslink to Toslink optical cable to connect from the Mac's audio out jack to the receiver of my digital speakers (Logitech Z906). Once playback has commenced, audio plays fine; it's just the very first second or so which is usually clipped.
The problem does NOT happen when using the built-in speakers. I've also noticed that if I unplug the cable from the receiver end (leaving it connected at the Mac end) I can see the red LED light shining the optical signal down the cable, but this goes out exactly 30 seconds after audio stops playing. If I start another audio playback within 30 seconds, there is no loss of audio at the beginning, but if I wait longer than 30 seconds (i.e. after the LED has gone out) I encounter the problems with the initial audio being clipped. I therefore suspect that this is an OS issue which is shutting down the digital optical out when audio is not actually playing (presumably to save power or something). I wouldn't have a problem with this if it actually worked properly when audio playback recommences, but it seems that there is a slight delay whilst the optical out service 'wakes up' again and this is leading to the clipped audio.
I've done some searching of the internet (and these support communities) for this problem and there seems to be little information about it. It does seem to affect a few other people though and some have resorted to third party applications or scripts which play silent audio at regular intervals to keep the optical output running permanently (e.g. SoundStay (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/39833/soundstay) - no longer maintained and the download link is dead). However, these amount to a kludge at best which treat the symptoms rather than the underlying cause, which I would rather resolve.
I tried to log a support case with Apple in order to have them call me, only to have the system tell me that my support has already expired, despite having purchased the Mac only 4 months ago. It seems that my Apple One-Year Limited Warranty is actually only 90 days when it comes to telephone support. So here I am!
Does anyone else have this problem with optical out, and how can I resolve this? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Would it be possible for you to upload one of the files in
question so that I can take a look. In Captivate 1.01 there is an
intermittent problem where sometimes the audio is either cut off or
just doesn't play when you publish / preview. To get around this
simply moving the audio object back and forth along the timeline
and then positioning it back in it's original position works 9
times out of 10.

K3011w - How disable the touchpad when using USB mouse?

Is there a way to disable the touchpad on the docking keybd when using a USB mouse? It is a real pain typing along and be in the middle of sentence some where else on the page.

   The touchpad on the dock uses a Windows driver and does not have any special Software to Disable it via shortcut,
How I found to go around on what you need is
With the tablet on the dock with no USB mouse yet
                  Press (Windows key+x) and choose device manager on the list
                        On Device Manager window open mice and pointing device and rightclick disable
This should disable the dock touchpad and Now you can plu in your USB mouse,
Before you unplu your USB mouse after use, Go to device manager again and Enable the device you disabled.

Risks when using DV camcorder for ichat video conferencing..

I have a sony dcr pc350. Bought it January of this year and havent had problems with it until recently. For some reason, the video head was damaged. When i play my DV tapes on it, thick gray horizontal lines appear, or sometimes it refuses to play the tapes completely. I just recently read one of the topics in the ichat AV FAQ and it mentioned that there's a risk that using a DV camcorder for ichat AV video conferencing can actually damage the camcorder. Now i'm wondering if that's the reason why my dv cam is damaged now. I haven't been using it to shoot some video footage for a while now, but i have been using it to video conference very often for about over a month now. And then recently, when i had to use it to shoot some video, that's when i saw that the camera needed repairs. As i've mentioned, I havent been using it for anything else (not even to shoot video) and i havent dropped it or anything. I pretty much take good care of it. So i'm thinking that it was my constant use of it for video conferencing that did the damage.
So my question is:
Has anyone else experienced some camcorder damage that might be related to frequent video conferencing use? If it does indeed damage the camcorder, what specifically does it do to it (what does it damage, how exactly does it cause the damage, etc...)? I'd like to know so I can be more specific when I bring it to the service shop for repairs.

I do NOT think that using your Sony with iChat AV poses any greater risk than using it for other things.
I used my Sonys (DCR-TRV17 and DCR-TRV70) for a while, but I switched to iSight before I damaged them. (I am clumsy.)
The kinds of damage I contemplated in the iSight vs Camcorder or other web-cam FAQ were:
- dropping or tipping the camera or the tripod upon which it was mounted,
- contamination from dirt, body oils, or dust, etc.,
- wear on the heads and internal moving components, and
- wear on the camera's electrical connections.
Moreover, regular professional clean and adjust is required for my Sonys based on usage hours. Such is NOT required for iSight.
Some of those risks can be mitigated by careful placement and use and by keeping the tape out when using the camera, but some risk always exists when using the equipment. My thought was that, if I wore out or damaged a camera by using it for hundreds of hours of video chat, I would rather wear out or damage iSight, which is cheaper than my Sonys were.
Please post back what your Sony Service Tech finds. I will be eager to read whether your camera needed more than a professional clean and adjust.

No rear speakers or center channel when using Digital Co-Ax connection

I'm using the K8N Neo motherboard (so nForce 3 chipset) on-board sound and the Logitech Z-680 speaker system, which has a built in Dolby Digital Decoder.
When I use a coax cable to connect my speakers to the digital co-ax output on the motherboard, I only get sound from the two front speakers and the sub, but not from the center or rear channels.
When I try to use the MSI Sound Manager to enable the sound output, the "6 CH + S/PDIF (Coaxial)" option under the "Speaker Configuration" tab is grayed out, with only the "8 CH + S/PDIF (Optical && Coaxial)" and the "6 CH + S/PDIF (Optical && Coaxial)" are available.
The surround sound (all 6 channels) does work if I use the direct connectors (the green, orange and black plugs for front, center and rear channels), but I'd rather use the digital co-axial connection.
I also noticed that the sound coming out of the front 2 channels is much louder when using the Coaxial connection than when using the direct connection.
Is there any way to fix this problem so that I can use the coaxial digital connection?

You only get multi-speaker support digitally if surround encoding is suported. That was avaialble with the nforce2 soundstorm boards, not with the nforce3 or nforce4 baords. Without encoding all you get is the front stero pair.
This is not new as prior to the soundstorm SPDIF equipped cards had only ever produced stereo.

No System Sound when using Digital Out. What the?!

Hmmm. I've searched and read many of the posts regarding sound problems on the mac mini but none experiencing what i think(?) is my problem. That being that when I use a toslink to connect my mac mini to my an external 5.1 amp the following is disabled:
- Volume control in menu bar disabled (greyed out)
- Apple Remote no longer controls volume
- DVD Player volume does nothing
- System Sound Preferences show 'Digital Out' but no options
Can someone confirm that these should still be adjustable? I can't believe that the now I have to use my stereo remote to control my Mac ?! Kind of ruins the 'Mac as a home theatre' experience. Unless I can find a solurion I guess it's back to analogue for me :o(

I can't believe it! I'm not an audiophile I just wanted to have the clearest quality sound, so for Apple to allow fibre optic connection but disable the ability to change volume just flat out *****. There should at least be the option to treat the connection as stereo. Why should I have to switch back and forward to an analogue cable if i want to use the front row remote? Not very well thought out Apple!

No Audio for Remote User when using Thunderbolt Display

I have the latest 13" macbook pro with a thunderbolt display. For the most part everything works fine, but I have encountered a problem when I try using facetime with this setup. The remote user cannot her my voice.
I have gone to the sound setting in system preferences and I have made sure that the sound inpur device is set to Display Audio, and it appears that the microphone is working (the bars are fiickering when I talk), still, I cannot be heard by the remote.
I have tried to capture a movie with the display's camera and mic, and that works fine.
Unplugging the display an using the laptop only also works fine.
I used the same setup with Skype, and the sound worked fine.
The probem appears to be with FacetTime and the Thunderbolt Display
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I am having the same issue with my 13" MB Pro Retina and my 27" ThunderBolt display. So far I haven't been able to find a solution to the problem.

Keynote and Audio Idiosynchysies on iPad when using AirPlay

I have the latest version of Apple TV, iPad, and Keynote. We use it to project video via AirPlay on an Apple TV to projectors, and audio from the optical system of the apple TV to an external sound system.
My problem is that when I play video files through the included Photo app on the iPad, the volume is at one level. Perfectly set.
When I embed that same video in a Keynote presentation, it becomes super quiet (over half the volume). The QuickTime inscpector in keynote has it at volume level 10 (max), and I just can't figure out what is going on. Why the different levels?
The iPad volume level is not changed. The change occurs between the two ways of playing the video file.
Any ideas on what is going on and how I can fix this issue? I don't want to make two versions of the movie- one with normal sound, and one with super amplified sound just for keynote presentations.

How do I get audio to display from my HDTV when I'm using a hmdi cable and a mini-displayport adapter on a macbook late 2008??

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI.
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

Disable iDevice backup when using WLAN sync

Hi everyone,
when syncing an iPhone/iPad/iPod iTunes will automatically create a backup of the device which is nice. I usually sync via USB which is reasonably fast. But sometimes I use the option to sync wirelessly which is fast enough only if you skip the backup. I know that you could disable device backups using
defaults write com.apple.iTunes DeviceBackupsDisabled -bool true
but I would love to have the option to only disable backups while syncing via WLAN. Is there a way to do that?

I completely agree with you. The auto-backup is a horrible waste of time. I can understand doing it once a month, or maybe even once a week, but given the fact that EVERYTHING in iTunes is backed up in at least two ways without any user input (hard drive & iTunes purchasing record) this long and obnoxious step is several degrees past overkill.
I read the entire manual for the iPod Touch and all I found out was how to delete the backup. For some reason, there is no to turn off the auto-backup mentioned.
Are the iPod Touches really that unstable?

No Sound when using Digital out with Mac Mini

The Digital out on my mac mini has become seriously unreliable. The sound slider is all the way up but locked, no movement is possible. The Toslink cable shows light, and when plugged into another device the amplifier receives sound.
This is an intermittent problem, for awhile rebooting would make the sound come back, however this has stopped working.
unplug the toslink and the built in speaker plays fine. Sound slider becomes movable.
If you sent the sound slider to 50% then plug the toslink back in it jumps to 100% and all controls ar grayed out and 0 sound.
any troubleshooting tips would be most appreciated as this is my primary audio video device.

Not likely. Think about this: The output is simply a digital stream of bits. Volume does not apply to digital bits... The first place where you can adjust volume will be in an outboard DAC, a preamp or an integrated receiver.
For a great DAC, check out ps audio "digital link III", retails currently for around $695, B stock may be avail for around 550. There is a cheaper quality DAC available from Cambridge Audio "Digital Magic", but it is not in the same league as the PS Audio or other higher cost DACs (such as Benchmark Media's DAC1).
For a fantastic audio system that takes digital audio from a Mac Mini, I have a PS Audio DL III taking Toslink from the Mini and feeding RCA analog into a Zpre from Parasound with a couple of Zamp (zone amps) from Parasound going into very nice bookshelf speakers and in ceiling speakers.
The volume is controlled by the Zpre amp ...As it must be
