Audio Disappears with Dynamic Link to Premiere

Software: AE and PR CC 2014 (October 2014 Update)
Computer: Mac Pro, 2.7GHz 12-Core, 64GB Ram
Operating System: OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks
Project: 12 e-learning videos
Description: Photoshop, Illustrator, and Apple ProRes 422 1920 x 1080 Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
Problem:
Ever since the new update, dynamic link in AE affects the PR timelines. Some of the PR timelines lose audio completely.  I circumvent this by duplicating the troubled timelines in PR (Copy_01) and replace the current ones in AE. However, it randomly keeps dropping JUST the audio and I have to keep doing this and I am working on big projects and getting fed up.  What else can I do?
Thanks.

I’d like to help, but I haven't been able to replicate the issue you are encountering based on the problem description.
Please file a bug report against After Effects, with exact steps to consistently reproduce the problem.

  • Issue with Dynamic Link with Premiere CC and After Effects

I'm having a strange and annoying issue with Dynamic linked clips in Premiere CC:
When I render or export my timeline the progress will stall when it hits a dynamic linked clip.  It will stay stalled until I click the After Effects application and make it the active window.  Once that happens the render/export resumes at normal speed.
This is annoying as I can't start a render and walk away or work on different windows, I have to babysit all the renders to make sure they go through.
Has anybody experienced this and know of any solutions?
I'm running the latest version of Premiere (7.2.1) and After Effects 12.2.0.52 on Mavericks 10.9.1 with a GTX 770 Video Card.

Does it still pause if AE is closed completely? I often experience slower AME renders from Premiere over dynamic link material when AE is open. Closing AE speeds things up. Go figure.

  • Time Ramping with Dynamic Link

I tried to dynamic link to after effects and make a time ramp in AE however the audio is still not ramping with the footage. Is this possible or do I have to export out of AE to do a Time Ramp (which would be pointless in regards to dynamic linking).
    Thank you,

You have already been provided with step by step explanation:
    - when you replace a clip in PrPro timeline with dynamically linked AE composition, that dynamically linked composition appears as an asset in PrPro Project panel. If you have difficulties with understanding what Project panel is, start with Premiere Pro basics;
    - dynamically linked composition in the Project panel is an ordinary reusable asset like any other asset imported into the project, and it contains 2 channel stereo. If you drag this asset from the Project panel and drop it into the timeline, that 2 channel stereo, which represents the result of your manipulations with the audio inside dynamically linked composition in respective AE project, will also be brought into PrPro timeline.
If you still do not understand all the above, provide step by step description of what you are doing exactly, because I can't read your mind and have no the slightest idea what can be unclear and therefore cause any issue with bringing audio from dynamically linked composition into PrPro timeline.

  • After Effects scrambles image of dynamic link imported premiere sequence

I have an Late 2013 MAC PRO Graphics  AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB with Maverick 10.9.3 and CC. In the 2 last CC updates, imported sequences from Premiere Pro with dynamic link get scrambled after a while, not on every frame and not in a specific routine. After clearing the cache, it disappears. Sometimes it appears on some frames in a final render too. When I don't restart the MAC completely AE will block completely after while. Is this a known problem of CC and is there a solution ? Or is it possible that i.e.  i1 profiler software creates this problem.

    Update to Mac OSX v10.9.4.

  • Dynamic Linking a Premiere Sequence in SB

    Using CS4 Production Suite.
I open Soundbooth, start a new multitrack file, then go to dynamic link>import premiere sequence  Then, with the Premiere Project open in another window, I select the file, then the sequence, then ok, and SB looks like it tries to do something, but inevitably every time I get a "Not Responding" as it lingers there forever.  Sometimes I get a % import bar, and it never moves from 0% before failing.  I never get an error message, it just sits there and doesn't move for 20 minutes, before I shut it down.   The project I'm importing is pretty long, and it consists of 6 audio tracks, so I thought maybe it's too big.  So I tried a 40 second sequence with one audio track, and still it crashes.
So... what's up with that?  I was kind of hoping to be able to master the audio for this film using SB, since I am using Premiere and AE, and bought this stuff thinking it all worked great together.  Which it probably does, and I'm doing something wrong.
    Someone help me please.

I believe that what you want is the WAB (Work Area Bar), which will allow one to Export segments of the Timeline to discrete video files. For more info on the WAB, see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5170142#5170142 Just be sure to select Work Area, when you go to Export.

  • Problems with Dinamic Link between Premiere pro CC and After Effects CC

I'm having serious problems with dinamic link between premiere pro and after effects, really serious problems that have 2 big projects in trouble (a documentary and a video clip) and I had to redo all the work pipeline to the consumer.
The documentary for a spanish TV was made on CC 2014 and a video clip was made on CC. Both of them with a lot of after effects composition in the premiere pro timeline. Render freeze, a lot of playback issues, and many more problems... Until I decided to remove these links between premiere and after effects and render out all the after effects compositions one by one and insert as clips in premiere pro. 1 week working away with back and fourth.
    I've got a huge workstation:
    i7 4990
    32Gb ram
    GTX780 3gb
    256 gb system ssd
    2 Tb project storage
*All my hardware and software are update.
I know that a lot of folks are on the same huge problem and I want to ask everyone:
    How do you save this?
    What is your pipeline?
    Are there any solution?
Best practice to use dinamic link in a huge project?
    Thanks,
    Ruben Gimenez.

    Thank You, Jim -
Unfortunately that specifically did not work.
Based on another comment sent to me, here is what did.
    In PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > New After Effects Composition
    In AECC
From that composition created from PPro, I imported the project (aep) initially created in AECC from another team member. Saved the file.
    Back in PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition
    Magic.

  • Dynamic link between Premiere pro and After effects versions?

I was wondering if it was possible to use the dynamic link between different version of the products like preimere pro cs5.5 and after effects cs5.0, I downloaded the trial of premiere cs5.5 while I already have bought and installed after effects 5.0 a while ago. when I tried using dynamic link with premiere 5.5 with my current after effects cs5, the "replace with after effects composition" in premiere was greyed out. I didnt know if this was just a limitation of the trial, or if the two different versions (PR cs5.5 with AE cs5) were incompatable with dynamic link. hope you guys understand the question, and any answers would be helpful!

Ok so just to get this straight, in order to use dynamic link between adobe premiere pro and after effects you have to have the complete suite? or just the same version installed? all I want to be able to do is have a good workflow between premiere pro to after effects to get my vfx done, and then send them back to premiere seemlesly without spending $2000 dollars on the entire suite just to use those 2 programs and because the suite is way over my budget. is that the only possible way (other than cs6, because I dont have the $$ to update either)

  • After Effects won't close/Problems with dynamic links

When I quit After Effects the icon still shows up and it says that it is still open, even force quit will not work. Also having problems with dynamically linked files between after effects and Premiere pro. Rendering in Premiere doesn't work unless I go to AE, save the project, then go back to Premiere. I have OSX Mavericks 10.9.2, a late 2012 mac pro, and AE CC 12.2.1.5

Kevin: would appreciate further thoughts on this.
I am using Pr2014, version 8.0.0 I am using AE2014, version 13.0.2.3. When I was on earlier versions of each, I had no problem importing AE comps into Pr. I'd choose import in Pr, then select the AE project, then select the comp. But with my new and improved versions of AE and Pr, I keep getting "importer reported a generic error."
I also tried to go the other way. I selected in Pr the clips I wanted to work on in AE, and then tried "replace with AE comp" but got the "generic error" message again..
Finally, I attempted to create a Dynamic Link from Pr via the File menu, but with each of the options from there, I got "failed to connect to AE Dynamic Link"
Any advice you can share, would be most welcome.

  • Extremely slow PP Export with Dynamic Links

I have very slow exports from Premiere Pro that are entirely made with Dynamic Links to AE (green screen footage).
It's taking about 4+ hours to export a 12 minute video!
I'm on an iMac late 2012
    3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
    24 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB
    OS Yosemite
Footage is on an external HD
Project file is on main HD
Writing exported file to external HD
I've followed several troubleshooting tips including:
    Uninstall and re-install CC 2014
    Clean adobe media files
    Check permissions on all folders
Switch Open CL to Software Only
Unchecked "Display out of sync indicators for unlinked clips"
    Disabled "Show Duplicate Frame Markers"
    Disabled "Show FX Badges"
I've also tried changing the location of where the final file is written to.
I've also tried this on my MBP with 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM and AMD 6750M
    Same results.
Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious here?
    Thanks.

  • Dynamic link from Premiere to Speed grade is incredible slow.

Dynamic link from Premiere to Speed grade is incredible slow. About 10 minutes or so. I usually measure the time by hands of Solitaire, min 3 wins.  I've trashed prefs, OS and apps all updated, run system maintenance. I'm at a loss. This workflow isn't working for me. Please give me some troubleshooting ideas.

Or is the workflow save/Quit my project in Premiere. then open in Speedgrade. Then save/Quit my project in Speedgrade and re-open in Premiere?
yeah thats basically it, you could leave premiere open but save and close the project before opening it up in speedgrade. if you are going to be in speedgrade a while, its best to just close premiere so it doesn't tie up any system resources sitting in the background. the dynamic link buttons/commands in premiere and speedgrade just save, close, and open in other program. so once you do your work in speedgrade save the project, close, then open it back in premiere and it should all be there.

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere freezes at 50%

I have never used the dynamic link from Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 so I don't know if this feature has ever worked. I tried to send just a 25 minute unedited timeline to Encore to see if it worked.  Encore goes through it's features but freeze at 50% at transporting timeline.  Any ideas?

I may have answered my own question. I finually did get it to work, maybe by chance.  I msconfig and cleaned out my start up menue and that seems to have cured it.

  • No Audio with Dynamic Link

I've got a clip from After Effects CS3 that is dynamically linked to my Premiere Pro project. The clip has audio in After Effects and it's turned on, but the audio shows up blank in Premiere Pro. Just wondering if there is something special I need to do to get the clip's audio to work in Premiere Pro.
    Thanks

    >As a work around, you could always just overwrite the DL Comp's audio in the sequence with the original audio file.
I thought about that, but I was hoping to find an answer to the issue so I didn't have to do that every time.
    >Additionally, what is the audio file in AE? Does that file conform to
your project settings in Premiere? Or have you dropped an MP3 file on a
into the layer window in AE?
It's just an SD DV video clip of an interview that was captured into Premiere Pro from a miniDV tape and I took it into AE to cover up something in the background. The audio plays fine in the original clip. The audio works fine in AE when I do a RAM Preview or use the num pad "." to play it back.
Harm, what additional information did you want? I thought I explained my issue pretty well, but let me know what else I should have included so that I can make sure and include it next time.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5.5 Lagging Horribly with Dynamic Link

I just bought a brand new computer. It is a beast
    Windows 7 64-bit
Intel i7-980 6 cores with HT = 12 CPU cores
    Nvidia GTX 570HD 1280mb 328 bit
    120gb SSD sata 3
    600 gb Velociraptor drive 10000rpm
    8gb DDR3 1866MHZ ram
So you would think I would get no lag. But for some reason, when I edit in premier pro or after effects, especially when I use dynamic link with premiere and after effects. It lags realllllly badly. I am talking about 5fps and I have to pause and wait like 20 secs then hit play again to get 5 secs of smoothness and then the laggyness returns. I am not even using heavy footage. It is footage off of a Canon 5D Mark II h.264. I tried messing around with all the settings but I cannot get anywhere. Anyone know what the problem might be? I don't have any other programs running since I just installed these. This lag is really holding me back and I cannot edit properly because of it.

Your memory is ill configured, since you are using it in dual channel mode instead of triple channel mode and 8 MB is about bare minimum. You would be better off if you were to increase memory to 24 GB. Secondly, your disk configuration is the absolute minimum requirement, so adding a couple of disks will help performance as well.
I am not even using heavy footage. It is footage off of a Canon 5D Mark II h.264
Mistake. It is one of the most demanding codecs on the market. Look here: Adobe Forums: System requirements for CS5
You could try the PPBM5 Benchmark to see how well your setup performs.
