Audio doesn't work with Kanex iadapt 51 mini-displayport to HDMI adapter

i am trying to connect my 2009 macbook pro to my HDTV using this adapter: http://kanexlive.com/products/item-id-3495.html which routes the audio from the headphone jack through the HDMI cable. i need to do this since the 2009 macbook pro doesn't supply audio through the mini display port. the video works fine but the audio isn't getting through to the TV. the macbook detects the adapter when i plug it in to the headphone jack - in preferences/sound the audio output is automatically switched to digital output instead of built in speakers. a guy on the kanex forums told me this might be an issue with the recent software update to mac os x 10.6.4. any chance this is true, and if so can i do anything about it? anyone else had similar problems with this kanex adapter?

To revert to 10.6.3 or whatever you were using before 10.6.4, you'd need to reinstall the earliest Snow Leopard version you have (either the one that came preinstalled on your machine, or if the machine is older than SL, then the Snow Leopard version that you got on a DVD later). Then reapply the Combo Updater for the version you want to revert to (10.6.1, 10.6.2 or 10.6.3). Then run Software Update to get all the ancillary Apple updates that are compatible with that version of SL.
I presume from your interest in reverting that you had the Kanex adapter before you updated to 10.6.4, and it worked as expected then. Is that correct?
If it isn't, and you haven't had the Kanex adapter working correctly at any time in the past, then I urge you to hold off on downgrading the operating system at least until you've gotten some substantive feedback from Kanex tech support and other posters here.

if anyone is familar with successfully getting the older macbook pros that dont support audio out to stream and preform digital audio on a TV or has any helpful information that will get me familiar with trying to successfully stream audio and visual. and can PLEASE HELP ME in any way to understand what they know and teach me how to solve my problem id really appreciate it.
i want to connect my MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2009) to my Hisense LED LCD TV, ModelNumber:40H3E and getting digital audio sound from my TV as well as video, but have no clue on how or where to even start to successfully pairing the two and getting sound.

With a 2009 MacBook Pro, you need to use two connections to your TV: one for video and another one for audio. The miniDisplayPort on the 2009 models does not support audio, so you need a separate audio cable:
miniDisplayPort adapter for video - I use the Apple miniDisplayport-DVI adapter + a DVI-HDMI cable like this one
audio cable for audio - use a 3.5mm male stereo-to-2xRCA male cable like this one
Connect the miniDisplayport adapter + DVI/HDMI cable to your MacBook Pro's miniDisplayPort output and the HDMI input on your TV
Connect the audio cable to your MacBook Pro's audio out and your TV's audio in
The only potential gotcha is if your Hisense TV requires audio via the HDMI cable when you use an HDMI cable. The H3e user manual is unclear about this.

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter by Belkin for iMac 2009 failed to work

This is an SOS message. I have purchased another Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and I have iMac (27-inc, Late 2009) running OS X Yosemite (Version 10.10.1). I have carried out the connection of Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to LG Plasma TV Screen, but there is no sign of any of the equipment reading or aware of the connection. Is there anybody out there who can help me make it work? Also, why is that Yosemite - System Preference, click on Displays does not contain - Arrangement? I'll greatly appreciate any useful tips from the community or apple support team.

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter when connected to the external Plasma TV screen, nothing happens. The System Preferences was accessed -and the Displays monitor sign was clicked, but it only showed - Display/Colour, which according to the instructions / descriptions contain in the - Video Troubleshooting Internal and External Monitors literatures and video, there seems to be missing - Arrangement / or AirPlay from my OS X Yosemite version.
The above is the version of OS X Yosemite - showing on my *iMac when clicked on System Preferences, and as result I have not been able to make the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter to LG Plasma TV Screen to work.

When the above image is compared with the following image below, there is definitely something missing and it’s probably affecting the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter to work in my connection.
Questions:
How can I make my iMac 10,1 (27-in, late 2009, currently running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1) to have the above AirPlay mirroring or Arrangement to activate the connection?
Are there other ways I can make the connection to work?
Is there any body who has a similar iMac specs and OS X Yosemite who has overcome connecting to external Plasma TV Screen?

When I plug in the adapter (with or without a hdmi cable attatched to it) to my macbook, the screen blinks and then goes back to normal. When everything is properly connected the tv shows no input signal (I am on the correct input channel) and the screen doesnt appear in the displayas settings in my macbook pro. I tried to reboot the macbook, shut down and turn on the screen and nothing seemed to work. The detect display option in the system preferences didnt help. I appreciate any help I can get.

i just purchased a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter for my MacBook Pro 2012 and have connected to my TV. I have video, but no audio. Does anyone know how to get the audio to work?

I might be wrong but the MBP 2008 does not have audio supplied capability over MDP to HDMI.

No audio via Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter

I have a late 2008 model (MB470LL/A) 15" MacBook Pro running 10.6.7.
I purchased a Dynex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter that's not picking up the audio signal. The video plays fine via HDMI to our TV, but no audio.
In looking online I've seen this is a known issue. Has anyone discovered a work around other then running a separate audio cable from my computer to the TV?
I'm really surprised there is no audio this way. Someone dropped the ball on this one.

Ok I was told by someone at the Apple Store durring my one to one secession that I could get a mini to HDMI cable and the video and audio from my laptop would be displayed on the TV.

Apparently it's the current range of MBP's that's the issue. In theory, the displayport standard supports audio.

Rocketfish Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter doesn't work

I recently bought a Rocketfish adapter for my late 2010 Macbook Pro and it doesn't work on my TV. I'm going to try swapping it out tomorrow to see if that's the problem, but just in case it wasn't, I thought I'd come and ask someone who'd know the answer. The TV is an Insignia TV, the HDMI cable works - we use it for out BluRay player - the adapter just...doesn't work. When I turn the TV on, my screen briefly goes to a light blue, then back to my normal desktop. Mildly frustrating that this won't work. Anybody have any advice they can offer?

Last week I bought a miniDisplay to HDMI port. My macbookpro to SonyPlaystation 3D TV , it's work petty well on default setting. But when I set to Mirror setting, macbookpro screen turn to blue(more like computer is setting) then turn to normal and 1 second later turn to blue......that's a loop...never stop. only when I took out the miniDisplay to HDMI port, that stop...The TV doesn't have signal.

Disconnect the external monitor and any other third-party peripherals. Be sure to backup your files.
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc. Insert the disc into the
         optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the

         Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
         install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
         Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

It sounds like the external display you are using (projector) operates at a smaller resolution than your MacBook Pro. You may want to configure the display preferences in System Preferences for the external projector.

I bought the mini displayport to hdmi adapter with the cable

(the ethernet high speed one that connects to the mini displayport) to connect to my sony bravia...and all I see is the Apple purple sky....why won't it work?

What are you expecting to see? The same images you see on the notebook screen or something different?
Sounds like you have the external screen set to act as a secondary screen (extend the desktop), but want it to mirror the main screen. You can control that in System Preferences > Displays.

"Fit to Audio" doesn't work with Transitions?

It seems that iDVD doesn't account for the added transition times when it calculates the "fit to Audio" slide duration. If I set the transitions to "None", then the photos fit perfectly to the song. However if I choose a transition, the photos go well past the audio. Is there any way to compensate for this? Or am I missing something?

HP 620 Laptop - Audio doesn't work with win 8

After a recent upgrade to Win 8 pro 64 bits , i don't have any sound on my HP 620 and it concerns IDT Audio HD drivers.
It seems that a lot of people do have the same issue worldwide , i have checked all posts and read all blogs about this issue.
I have checked all solutions provided by HP as well ( the last one ( SP 59154 ) without success .

Did you purchase your notebook before or after October 1, 2011? If you purchased it prior to this date, HP will not be producing Windows 8 drivers for the notebook, but the hardware manufacturer may. If the product was purchased after that date you'll just need to watch the product's software and driver page for the drivers to be released.
