Audio Dolby and MPG2 showing up different lengths

Hello everyone!
I have been compressing my FCP project with compressor into a MPG2 file and a Dolby Audio file for use in DVD studio pro. Only problem is that the audio tracks and the video tracks are slightly different sizes in the timeline, like only a frame or two. What is happening? is there any way to exactly align just the start points? Anyone have any experience with these issues?
Hoping for some pro-advice!
P.S. thanks for all the help in here over the past few years!

I just posted a similar but slightly different question here.
This is fairly standard behavior - you can see this in play by opening an AIFF file in Quicktime, looking at the length, then dropping it into DVDSP and see the length reported differently. I've read a few possible explanations but I don't know exactly why. Something to do with Dolby and the way it interprets frames?
As the other person said, if the audio and video are in sync that is the bottom line. Watch clips at different parts of the video (definitely paying attention at the end). If it's in sync, you're all set. What your eyes and ears see are what other people will too, and that's way more important than what DVDSP tells you..
My problem is that the stereo AIFF files and 5.1 AC-3 files are WAY different lengths and the video/5.1 loses sync. A different dilemma altogether.

Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Group Items showing for different lengths of time

I have created a group of check and x-marks to indicate correct and incorrect answers.  The check mark and X-mark are both smart shapes.  In my advanced actions, I hide the group and then show either a check or X-mark after the answers have been submitted.  The advanced actions are written as, " show X-mark" and "Hide Check Mark" and vice versa.  But when I preview the slide the check mark only stays by the correct answers for 3 seconds, and the X-marks remain.
Any ideas as to why two items in a group would display for different lengths of time?

Lieve, was the timeline okay or did you need more?  One thing that was different about the check marks, I noticed, was that they were set as "Use as button".  I unchecked that box for each of the 72 check marks that are on my slides.  I think that I got them all.   However, they are still each linked to 24 Object style manager Smart Shapes which will help me position them three at a time.  I don't see anything in the Object style manager that has a setting that might affect the length that they stay visible.

  • Another computer of mine is running windows 7 64 bit and it shows 4 different realplayer or derivative of realplayer plug-ins which seems fishy to me. Are there that many availabe?

The hp laptop running windows 7 seems to me to be running very strange and many programs have appeared that I did not download as if someone else is actually using it as a server. I am constantly changing passwords, updating plug-ins, software, using a wired ethernet linksys router wrt54g for my lan and still have problems with settings getting changed, programs not working , developer programs appearing, having to reboot, ad infinitum and now I am looking at my Firefox Plug-Ins and see RealJukebox NS, RealNetworks RealPlayer Chrome Background Extension, RealPlayer G2 LiveConnect-Enabled, RealPlayer Browser Record, and RealPlayer HTML5VideoShim not to mention the non-RealPlayer Plug-Ins. My question is do all of these exist and why would I have them when I did not install them. Also, would I need them for Windows 7 64 bit. Any information provided will be most appreciated. I'm about to quit and look for another hobby.

    Hi,
Have you tried ping ip address of printer? and check if there exists any data lost in network connection. If your network connection is crowded, it can cause delay for printer.
Also, please attempt to disable all security software temporarily, such as antivirus, firewalls, etc and
    clear all printer cache.
Locate to task manager, check the state of spoolsv.exe, including cpu and memory. If it has high cpu or memory usage, it may be caused by malware. Thus, you'd better to make a full scan with the latest anti-virus.

  • I have a question about the calendar on the ipad2. I have multiple calendars in different colors. Some of the events are filled in with color. Others are just listed with a colored dot in front of the event. Any ideas why events ar showing up differently?

I have an ipad2 and my question is about the calendar. I set up multiple calendars with different colors. Some of the events show up in filled color. Others only show with a colored dot in front of the event. I can't figure out why some show up one way and others show up differently? Any thoughts?

On mine the ones that show on a coloured background are all-day events, the ones with dots and just timed events.

  • I want to snooze an event for a different length of time than the default. How do I select a different snooze length?

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and I can't see how to snooze an event alert for other than the preset 15 minutes. How do I snooze events and other alerts for different lengths of time than the default? Sometimes I want to snooze an event until the start time or maybe for a whole day.

SnoozeMaster is now avaiable from the Mac App Store, for MacOS X 10.8 and up.
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/snoozemaster/id614955483?mt=12
It addresses this exact issue. You'll be able to configure different pre-set snooze times, enter custom snooze times when an alarm triggers, etc. It's what snoozing should've been from the get go.

  • Transitions showing up differently after rendering

    Hello,
Sorry for the double post - I just wanted to make certain that I was making myself as clear as possible when stating my problem. It appears that when I put in a Cross Zoom to a clip, before rendering, it looks exactly as I want it. However, after it renders, it looks much different. Then, I undo the rendering, try it again, it looks fine. Render it, and it shows up different - is there anywhere I can search as to why this happening, and how I can fix it? It's really driving me sort of crazy, as I've never heard of this before -- ok, thank you!

can you force this transition problem?
Try starting a new project file> grab 2 clips (different than the ones you are using for the current problem)
put the cross-zom on there, see if it happens....
Then grab the original 2 clips you are having the issue with pull it in to this new project and do the same.
If the problem doesn't occur, you could possibly have a bad project file.
If the prblem occurs only on the original problem clips, then you may have bad media.
If the problem still exists on both old and new clips, then maybe its an app/system thing.

  • How to get two audio voice and how to identify its frequencies

    hello,,
i am new to javax.sound .. here anybody help me in my mini project
1.. i hv to get to audio voice from two different person same time...
2 next i hv to visualize their audio frequency.... so sure that both the audio voice vary in frequency..
3.. i hv to seggregate this two audio voice and store it in different file and hv to play it separately
is here any body to help me
i will be greatly thanxful 4 ur info

    1. How are you getting the voices at the same time? Are these signals
coming from the same line, e.g. microphone? Or are you just reading
    two audio files from disk?
    2. To get the frequency of a audio signal, you'll need to do Fast Fourier
Transform to that signal. You'll propably need a third party library for this,
    search for this with google.
    3. If your signals are coming from the same source, it's going to be very
hard to filter out one of these voices. If you don't know anything about the
voices in forehand, I don't think this will be possible.
Give some more information about what you're trying to achieve.

  • Video and Audio Files are different lengths when exporting

I'm just trying to get comforatable with a much faster Windows workstation on PPro and AE.
I just exported my first project from PPro to burn to Blu-ray like I've done dozens of times on our older Mac Pro w/o problems.
My Ppro file is 7:04:18 in length.  I export the video as an mp2 Blu-ray video and import it into Encore and it shows up at that same length.
I export the audio as an aif and import it into Encore and it shows up as 7:06:19 in length--2 seconds and 1 frame longer.
    Everything is CS6.  File is 1920 x 1080, sq pixels, 29.97.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Thanks for the feedback.  I exported to aif as I was going to burn the Blu-ray on our Mac Pro in Encore, since we don't yet have a Blu-ray burner installed in our new Windows workstation.
Upon seeing your note, I re-exported the project as you described and placed the wav and mp2 in Windows Encore and they are both the same time length.
It seems the aif should be the same too... but I assume wav is likely the preferred format on Windows so will be using that as the new workflow.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Show channels with own time channel and different length in one 3D graph

    Hi,
How can i show channels with own time channel and different length in one 3D graph?
My consideration looks like this, but i didn't found a solution with acceptable performance. ( i have many channels to merge and many data in them)
i have 4 Channels 2 with values and 2 with time.
    Example:
    Pair 1:
    1 - 3
    2 - 4
    3 - 5
    4 - 8
    5 - 9
    Pair 2:
    1.5 - 6
    2.3 - 7
    4.5 - 8
    I want than this result:
    1 - 3
    1.5 - null
    2 - 4
    2.3 - null
    3 - 5
    4 - 8
    4.5 - null
    5 - 9
    And
    1 - null
    1.5 - 6
    2 - null
    2.3 - 7
    3 - null
    4 - null
    4.5 - 8
    5 - null
    thanks a lot
    by
    Stefan

    Hi StefanF,
You need to first create the timebase that you want (in this case with a 0.5 increment) using the "Generate Numeric Channel" ANALYSIS function, then use the resulting time channel in the "Linear Mapping" ANALYSIS function for each of the original channel pairs.

  • Same clip, different lengths in CS3 and CS4?

I'm trying to fix a problem I'm having importing my CS3 project into CS4 and I noticed that the clip lengths in the properties windows do not match for my files. For example, if I open my clip in CS3 (where it was originally edited) it shows it this:
    File Path: F:TapesTape 24Scene 018 - Ally & Paul Coffee (9).m2t
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 365.4 MB
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 1440
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;01;54;14
Average Data Rate: 3.2 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.333
But in CS4 the properties show up as this:
    File Path: F:TapesTape 24Scene 018 - Ally & Paul Coffee (9).m2t
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 365.4 MB
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Depth: 32
    Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;01;53;08
Average Data Rate: 3.2 MB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
What would cause this discrepancy? I shot at 30f on a Canon XH-A1. My project settings in CS4 are HDV 1080p30. Do I have the wrong settings? How could the same clip be of two different lengths. I'm so confused!
Please respond only if you have a suggestion. I am not looking for comments about how I shouldn't switch programs midstream. I would like some honest help, however!
    Thanks!

    I've got a couple suggestions.
First would be to see if its a problem with the import or a just a difference in how CS3 and CS4 reads the files. If you import one of .m2t files directly into CS4 and not through importing the project, does it give you the same info as you listed above? (I'm assuming the file info above was derived from importing the project and then looking at the file's info.) If it is correct when independently brought into premiere, then the problem lies with importing a CS3 project and I would suggest trying to unlink then link your media. If there is no difference, then it's something else.
Second suggestion is to export an EDL out of CS3. Then, instead of importing your CS3 project into CS4, import the EDL and see if this resolves your edit points.
One note I've noticed with the EDL's in premiere, they don't import well when generated in framecount mode, but work fine in timecode mode (in CS3 this is just what your timeline time indicator mode is set at, right click the time indicator and set it to Timecode. in CS4 this doesn't work and you have to set the Display Format to Timecode under your Project Settings.)
    Good luck.

  • Video Different Length Than Audio

    Hi
I created a reference file in FCP and encoded through compressor. For some reason, the video length is a few frames longer than the audio. This is confusing my timeline in DVDSP.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks

I am shooting and capturing in DV-CAM, editing in Final Cut 5, and exporting using Compressor for DVD. I'm not doing any sample rate conversions or changes in frame rate.
The interesting thing was, after I investigated further, on some of the clips, Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro saw the compressed MPEG-2 video as being different lengths. Also, even though the audio and video showed as being up to 1 second different in length in DSP (on a 24-min. clip), when I put both on a timeline, they reconciled within a frame. There must be some kind of imbedded time code that is keeping them in sync.

  • Preview in Browser and Adobe Browser Lab show website differently? Please help

Hi...working on my first website and I have a question about the differences in viewing the site through
    choosing file...preview in browser....
from within Dreamweaver, and using the Adobe Browser Lab to view the website.
There seems to be a very significant difference between the two. When I preview firefox from within dreamweaver, my site is just how I want it.
When I go to browser lab, it is...well... a disaster.
I'm attaching screenshots of the two as well as my code, so it can show how different they are. Here is a screenshot of the website as it looks when I use the preview in browser function from within dreamweaver to view it in firefox. This is how I'd like it to look.
And here is a screenshot of what it looks like when I preview it in Adobe Browser Lab in Firefox.
The quote is underneath the logo, the left div text is flowing over the center div, the nav bar graphics are too narrow, the photo is hanging outside the div it should be contained in. Not what I want.
Does anyone have any insight into how I would fix this or which version is correct?
I'm stumped. This is my first website: shouldn't these two things be similar? And which one is correct?
    and here is my code:

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in the HTML source.

    Thanks for your help.

You are using % widths for your layout which means it will look different depending of the size of each users monitor. Although this is probably the better way to go these days, it is not one size fits all and will work more effectively if you include min and max widths, and also media queries that change your layout depending on the monitor size. This is more advanced coding and will take time if you want to do that. Alternatively, you could design using pixel widths and have it look consistent across all desktop browsers and throw a few media queries in for the mobile side.
