Audio driver not working on Macbook

I have sound issues!! Did a clean install of Windows 7, the OS worked fine, but installing the Mac drivers was painful!! The worst part is that the BC installer (the one in the MacOS disk and BC 3.1 update I downloaded) doesn´t work!! The one from the MacOS disk sends an "error 2225" -yes, that is the description it gives- and BC 3.1 updater doesn´t even launch (the only thing it launches is a process on task manager that closes itself after 1 or 2 minutes)... I manually installed the driver from the MacOS disk (Realtek), still no audio, and when I reboot, Windows installs again the "official" driver, thus no audio and the sound LED on... Is there a solution for this?
I have downloaded all the updates from software update on MacOS, and the EFI and other updates manually, still no audio. Also did everything on the installation guide and nothing seems to work for my problem!!

same situation here with mb990ch/a with win7 32bit and bootcamp 3.1 update from bootcamp 3.0
no sound too!!!
have tried installing realtek lastest driver r2.46 but failed
tried with cirrus logic driver from provided mac disc, also failed
also tried sigmatel driver from mac disc but still failed
anyone has any idea?
why is installing the sound driver so hard?

  • Thunderbolt 2 external hard drive not working with Macbook Pro (early 2011)

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I hope you guys can help me with this:
I've recently bought an external hard drive that works on Thunderbolt 2 (LaCie d2 3TB). When I connect the new drive to my Macbook Pro through the thunderbolt port, the drive isn't recognized. However, the drive works fine through a USB connection.
I thought that Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are compatible, however this doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe it's because the OS X / driver / firmware version that I'm working on that is not updated? I work on an early 2011 Macbook Pro: OS X Version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Thank you very much for your help!
    Daniel

    Hi danielsh6,
I recently bought the new Lacie Thunderbolt 2 D2 3TB and I had the same problem as you, i have a macbook pro early 2011, those support thunderbolt but many times there is a bug that doesn't let you connect any thunderbolt drives to your computer. The solution I found was installing this update:
    Thunderbolt Firmware Update v1.0
Before doing this I would recommend you updating to mountain lion (not yosemite yet as there is still some glitches and more on preview's macbook pro's).
    Hope this helped!

You can try one of the following (start at 1 first):
    1. Run in an elevated commnad prompt without the quotation "sfc /scannow & dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth"
    2. Restore to a date where you can remember that the dolby audio sound is working.
    3. Use OKR to restore everything to factory default. Note you need to backup all your personal files before doing this and might need to reinstall all third party programs after the restoration.

  • USB drives not working on Macbook Pro

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro and both USB drives are currently not working. All storage devices work in my other Mac, just not in this one. They do not show up in disk utility or anything. I've attached a screenshot of the system profiler information, because when compared to my other Mac it doesn't show as many USB ports. Please Help, Justin

Hi i'm also having the same problem (Macbook pro late 2011). I have a back-up hard drive that will not connect to my usb either. I have done a PRAM & SMC reboot and neither worked. I read another post that said to erase the usb & retry connecting, but that's not really an option for me as this is the back-up of my entire disk + extra materials (I'm a medical student). I need the data off my hard drive urgently! It was working this morning and now it's not.
Mine does show up in disk utility, but I can't access anything on it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Hitachi X500 external hard drive not working with MacBook Pro

I purchased a new Hitachi X500 500GB external USB hard drive today and when I plug it into my MacBook Pro the drive makes a clicking noise and never mounts. When I try it on my wives MacBook it boots up fine. I bought one early in the day and the same thing happened, so I returned it and got a new one and the same thing happens. Any thoughts?
Looks like it's formatted with Fat32 when I look at it on the MacBook.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does the external drive have it's own power brick? If not, it's bus-powered and may not be getting enough juice to run.
Also try all the USB ports on your MBP. Although they are "supposed" to be producing the same amount of power, posts around here suggest that's not always the case.
If the drive does not have a power brick, you can get an inexpensive powered USB hub (it has a power brick) like this one:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Belkin/F5U403P/
Adding a powered hub fixes problems with bus-powered USb external drives about 95% of the time.

  • Audio will not work through Macbook Speakers.

Hello I just bought a black macbook and it had the infamous audio problem w/the red light coming out the audio jack. It worked fine with headphones or speakers but once I unplugged them, then a red light would shine through the jack and then no sound output through the Macbook's speakers.
Initially I fixed the problem, but every time I plugged in my external speakers, and then unplugged them the red light would reappear.
Now I have no red light in the headphone jack and there is still no sound...my Macbook can still output sound through headphones or external speakers but it wont work through the built-in speakers and now there is NO red light shining through the headphone jack...any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • Built in Audio not working in MacBook Pro after update to 10.7.3

The Built In Audio is not working in My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) after update to 10.7.3; I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC but it didn't helped me out. I can get audio only if i reboot my mac from Safe Mode or reboot after Repairing Disk Permissions in disk utility using the Recovery Partition;. If i make a normal restart or just startup then the built in audio disappers (audio is displayed gray in the menu bar) . Everything was working well with the 10.7.2
    - Audio Works well with the Boot Camp Partition. and There is a sound during boot up.

I dont have any backups and i dont have time capsule or  an external hard drive ready to be used for backup.
My macbook is my the only one computer. The problem is that the animation is lagging when i change the window to dashboard or safari or mail or another window. Inspite of this my macbook works well.
But 5 minutes ago, I noticed that if i run autocad on my mac- the lags go away!!!!

  • Macbook pro to HDTV, video is working but audio is not working, how to make audio work as well

Macbook pro to HDTV, video is working but audio is not working, how to make audio work as well

If you use an HDMI cable, the audiostream will be integrated, so there will be sound when using an HDMI cable!
Not necessarily.  That only works as stated if you have one of the most recent MBP's that has a built-in HDMI port.
If the MBP only has a Thunderbolt or miniDisplayPort, you need an appropriate adapter cable and even if you use an HDMI adapter or cable to connect to your HDTV there is no guarantee it will carry audio.  You have to determine if your specific MBP model supports audio out through its miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt output, and whether the adapter does likewise.

  • X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!

<X-Fi Audio - Subwoofer NOT working in Vista 32-bit Ultimate!I I have WIndows Vista 32-bit Ultimate and Sound Blaster X-Fi Audio installed and with the factory drivers (I tried another set earlier and they did not work, so I reinstalled the original drivers which worked, at least partially). Until now I only listened to music using my headphones, but I tried today to plug-in my 5. Genius system (50W RMS) and everything works fine EXCEPT the subwoofer does not produce any sound at all!! The ONLY way to make it work is go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> press Configure and then click the Test button in the dialog that appears (or click the subwoofer icon to make it produce a very nice bass sound - which I absolutely love, but it's the only way to make my subwoofer work!!!). Please guys, help me find out what the problem is. All help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you my friend,I have done as you have mentioned (made sure the DLL did not stay there when I rebooted before I installed your version), and now I have the version which you have built. However, I am still unable to hear the subwoofer I am so sad... even my default on-board card supports the 5. just great, and I love the sound of that, but I was hoping for something better from Creative - instead, all I got was a soundcard I can only use with my headphones at the moment because of a faulty driver...
    Did you enable Bass Redirection?
Run Console Launcher, click on Speakers and Headphone -> choose 5. Speakers.
Then click on Bass (Bass Management) and enable Bass Redirection.
