Audio driver problem

I have what I think is an unusual symptom. My audio device comes and goes. When I have a device, it is a yellow Multimedia Audio Controller. Checking Device Manager tells me that I have no audio device installed. Why not? What happened to my audio device? I have not intentionally removed or disabled it, just one day it wasn't working. I visited Tech Guy and got advice from a few people and the prevailing theme seemed to be one of driver problems. So, I  downloaded  Realtek AC'97 Audio, attempted to install it but got a blue screen (not the BSOD) which said it was shutting me down to prevent damage to my computer and a full screen of info. It shuts down too quickly to read all of the info. Anyone out there got any ideas? I'm using a 6 year old factory refurb T43 with Win Pro.

@clairienz:
it looks, that mcq's T43 has flexing of the southbridge - that can happen to every notebook brand and model (my DELL Latitude had the same issue a couple of years ago). The USB 2.0 - message is an indicator for it.
The Lenovo audio driver in normal cases works fine with XP service pack 3, even it is an older driver.
One thing very often will be forgotten while installation:
Executing the downloaded package only extracts it to C:\DRIVERS\WIN\Audio. After that the setup.exe must be executed additionally.

  • 9.1.3 crashing whilst recording "error code 1" audio driver problem

I'm still smarting over a six hour location recording session that Logic ruined for me yesterday - came away with nothing because of this problem.
Was trying to record a full band - eighth channels simultaneously, using ART Tubefire audio interface into Logic 9.1.3 on my macbook pro.
It started out OK - no apparent problems when setting up, testing the mics, setting the levels, etc.
Then as soon as we started trying to record proper takes of the songs, Logic seized up, giving the reason as "error code 1" being returned by the audio driver. this would happen after about half a minute or so of recording apparently normally (sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter). It would also give me another error message about the disk being too slow sometimes as well.
I tried adjusting various settings and preferences (sample rate, buffer size, internal or external clocking, etc. etc.) but nothing worked.
I restarted the computer and the audio interface. No change.
Then I tried recording fewer tracks simultaneously (although the computer really should be able to cope with a pretty simple 8-track set-up, as indeed it has done quite happily in the past) but that made no difference either.
Then I disconnected the firewire connection and tried to see if I could at least record some audio straight into the computer, connecting the headphone out of the Tubefire to the macbook's built-in mic jack. Same problem.
I don't know how to fix this.
    Help please?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Everyone I know is having issues with Logic 9 and Snow Leopard. If you can, try using Logic 8 and OS 10.5.8 works well for me. 32 tracks for 2 hours. It absolutely will not work if I use a laptop with Snow Leopard.

  • IDT Audio Driver Problems on Windows 7

For the past few weeks, I have been dealing with the same audio swings and speaker problems that many other people here have complained of.  I am aware of the Driver update for those who have Windows 8 computers, but I have a Windows 7.  This computer was bought in last June after my previous HP laptop (which consequently had no issues) needed to be replaced.  Restarting the computer fixes it for a few minutes but it always has issues until it inevitably makes it so I am unable to hear anything or play any videos.  I have uninstalled, deleted, and reinstalled the IDT driver several times including downloadling directly from the HP website. I have sat and watched as the Beats Audio Settings swing back and forth and watched as Windows Explorer crashes because I attempted to change the volume settings on my keyboard.  Most of the time, I can't even restart or shut down my computer anymore, it just stays at a black screen with the power light on until I manually turn it off or the battery dies.
I'm so frustrated with this and even more so at the fact that a fix has been pushed through for Windows 8 users but you're leaving those of us with Windows 7 stuck with unusable laptops.  Please tell me how I can resolve this issue or point me to someone who can help me replace my laptop.  Thank you.
P.S. I'm not mad at you, just at the situation, I'm sorry for sounding like a jerk.

    Hi,
Please try one of the following methods:
    1. Uninstall Audio driver, reboot the machine and install the following driver:
         http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64501-65000/sp64958.exe
    2. Uninstall audio driver, reboot the machine during connect to the internet. Wait for around 10mins and check. Install the above driver if it does not come back automatically.
    Regards.

I am wanting to update my computers' drivers and complete the windows updates which it is telling me that I need to complete. For a couple of years now, I have been trying to find a way to sucessfully update my IDT Audio Driver. Whenever the update finishes, I restart my computer and it seems that the driver and/or my hardware has been disconnected. The small speaker icon in the lower right hand corner has a red "x" and it acts as if there are no speakers. I have to complete the system restore and restore my computer to an earlier time (before the "configure IDT Audio" update. Please help! TL;DRIDT Audio Update basically uninstalls the driver or speakers. What is the correct driver/what is the problem?

    Hi Pastypete,
I’m sorry to hear that the “System Restore” is not working as expected in the computer, the available option to resolve this issue is to install the Audio driver in “Compatibility Mode”. Below are the images to help the installation of driver in compatibility mode, right click on the downloaded file select “Properties” then click on “Compatibility” tab, now below are the images in which the options are selected. Please follow the same and at the end select Apply>OK. Now right click on the file again and select “Run as administrator” option:
NOTE: As per the 2nd image select Windows 8 in "Run this program in compatibility mode for" option.

  • Audio Driver Problems on G710

    Hello.
I've been having a problem with a very quiet microphone for some time now, I even had an issue of having to open up the IDT control panel and restart the boost microphone option for it to even work. I followed this thread, however, I got stuck on one particular step. After I click on update driver on microphone, stereo mix or speakers, I can't seem to select the new 6.10.6490.0 from C:/Drivers/IDT Audio Driver folder, Windows just says that it determined that the driver is correct and writes up something about AudioEndpoint.inf that it's set up as the driver. I'm looking for the file now, hoping to manage to temporarily disable it. I also can't see any other options when I pick from a list of installed drivers on driver update tab, other than AudioEndpoint and Generic Software Driver. Running Win 8.1 64bit on Lenovo G710.
Would you please enlighten what could be the problem for me? Thank you very much
EDIT: Now I have an even bigger problem. I experimented with different IDT driver versions (newer ones), but now when I try to install the recommended 6.10.6490.0 from the support website, it says my hardware is not compatible with that package. I've been trying to look for what it could have changed when I installed the different versions but no luck. Is anyone able to help me with this?

More than one way to do this.  What works for me is to use "Update Driver" path, then when prompted choose file to update from and broswe to the file or driver that was downloaded to update it.
Also - you can reboot in "safe mode", uninstall  the driver from the control panel app, then install the correct drivers from download.
    Good luck.
PS>  Driver Cleaner may be the only other option to try, but it is not freeware, you will need to purchase to use.

  • Audio driver problem for xp

    hi,
iv downgraded frm vista to xp and the audio wnt work
iv tried all sorts of sites from lenovo to ms to fix
the problem but still no solution.everytime i try and
install audio driver it keeps giving the message
"HDA driver not installed" .......anysolutions anyone...
    my model is thincentrek200.

I can give one answer to you problem ( the easiest way)
    1. Go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/ and find the drivers you need, almost all Lenovo products use RealTek
    2. Burn those drivers to a CD\DVD
    3. Delete all video and sound driver
    4. Reboot
    5. When the system ask if you have the drivers, answer yes
    6. Then give them the path where you downloaded the drivers
That's the easy way, if that does not work for you let me know and I will guide you through the hard way. Let's hope the easy way works for you!

Have you install MS-UAA before Audio driver?
Please make sure MS-UAA has been installed properly
    How?
Go to Device Manager under System Devices to see if MS UAA installed properly.
There should be a listing for Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio.
If not, you should have a PCI with yellow!
Install MS-UAA, find it in XP downgrade guide, here
Try IDT driver from your mode page, here

  • IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver problem after windows 8.1 update 1.

Hello. I have HP Probook 4730s. After I installed Windows 8.1 update 1 the sound driver stopped working properly. When I want to play some music, video or even system sounds, sound appears after 1-2 minutes. At that time HDD usage is 100% cause of windows audio device graph isolation. I’ve installed that IDT High Definition (HD) Audio Driver from HP’s driver support site, but that’s not working. As I see in device manager driver’s release date is 24.10.2012. I think, it’s too old for Windows 8.1. Can you help me? Is there any other newer version of that sound driver? Also I’m sending two pictures where are HDD usage and driver release date.

  • Satellite A100-920 - Audio driver problem - Win XP Pro

    Hello all,
I am having an issue with an audio driver. I can't seem to find one that works anywhere, I have looked at multiple forums and the Toshiba website for suitable drivers with no success. I've basically hit a wall, so hopefully someone can provide a working solution. :)
    Audio device:
Device: 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
    Manufacturer: Intel
(Details retrieved using a Ubuntu 9.04 Live CD)
Although a windows system labels it as "Realtek High Definition Audio Controller"? (I'm no expert with drivers, so maybe thats a stupid question...) :)
The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A100-920 (PSAA9E) running Windows XP Professional.
I have spent hours trying to solve this so I'm hoping this is the last mile. :) Thanks to anyone with any suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Alan

    Hi
The sound driver is designed by Realtek!!!! So its a Realtek sound chip!
You need the Realtek sound driver and you can find it on the Toshiba European driver page as well!
    You need also the SP3!
But the point is that SP3 has to be installed before sound driver!!!
If you have already installed the sound driver then remove it (uninstall).
You should also access the device manger and should remove the sound card from the device list!
Then reboot the notebook and after that install the Realtek sound driver again!!!

  • Audio crashing - IDT HD audio driver problem?

Audio crashes when in use (basically just goes silent), even after re-install of driver (IDT HD Audio Driver). Upon reboot of the PC, audio will work temporarily, and then crash very quickly if there are multiple Chrome tabs with audio, and has also crashed using just a single media player (Spotify). I have not received any error messages.  When this happens, I am also unable to change the volume level using both point-and-click and hotkeys.  I'm running an HP Envy notebook with Windows 8.1 64 bit
