Audio dropout, movie sync, transition problems IDVD9

I created a 55 minute DVD slideshow. Looks great on computer, but when I burn it the following errors occur:
Audio drops out for about 5 seconds intermittently
Placed two avi movies. Didn't duck audio, but movie audio starts playing before clip airs
Cross fade transitions: When when one picture transitions to the next, the first picture ghosts in the background of current picture.
Working on brand new mac mini, IDVD9 1gb memory. Any advise would be appreciated.

in fact from the apple specs for G4:
Sound
-Minijacks for 16-bit stereo audio input and output; 44.1-kHz sampling rate
-Built-in speaker

  • Batch Audio "Overwrite All With Transition" problems

I posted this thread a while back, and it was answered.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1295905&tstart=0
I returned back to the thread because I'm doing the same thing months later, and I needed a reminder.
But now when I do the exact same thing which helped before it does not work. All I keep getting is the message "Insufficient Content For Edit."
That's when I try dragging all video and audio together.
When I lock off video and just drag the audio I get a much longer message which says:
"Edit operation had no effect. Check the target tracks. You may need to open the source clip into the viewer in order to see all of the target tracks"
But that doesn't work either. When I highlight the entire time line and try dragging it into the viewer , the only clip that shows up is the first clip out of the time line of multiple clips.
    Thanks for any new help

Final Cut creates transitions by extended the edited shot to create an overlap with the adjust shot. These extensions are called handles. If there isn't enough room to create handles in your shot the handles may inadvertently extend into the adjacent shot, creating flash frames that appear during the transition.

  • HELP PLZ....HD 6 into "08 Audio out of sync

I put together a bunch of still pics added a song in HD 6 all is working great. The audio is in sync, transitions work. Ready to put it on Youtube. I am exporting it to IMovie 08 and as I watch the final movie in that program towards the last 1/4 of the movie the audio is out of sync with with the video. It's as if that part of the video has sped up slightly. I even exported it directly to my desktop and it still did the same thing. I have followed both books (HD 6 and 08) on exporting...using Quicktime...Apple codec, etc....the video is good except for that issue. Any ideas on what would cause this problem? Compression, etc. Thank you in advance...I really appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks,

Was any of your music purchased from iTunes? If you are using music purchased from iTunes, you must take these preliminary steps.
    1. Burn the music in question to a CD.
    2. Reimport the music as an AIFF file. iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Import using: (drop down menu) AIFF encoder
    3. Import this new imported music into your project.
    I hope this helps.

  • Serious M-Audio Profire 610 sync and dropout problem

After an, over a month, waiting for a solution to the problem from m-audio, I have to post the problem to the community:
I m using an early 2009 8-core MAC PRO with M-Audio Profire 610, using it for video editing with Final Cut Pro (and sound design with Pro Tools).
The problem is that since I've  updated the machine to 10.6.7,  I m experiencing VIDEO dropouts in Final Cut, the very first playback seconds of EVERY video track (on every codec) that I try to preview and at any point of it.
Also, occasionally, the audio-video sync is lost and I have to pause-play in order to gain the sync back on..
When I switch the audio output to Built in audio or Display audio, the dropout and sync problem disappears. When I switch back to Profire 610 the dropout starts again.
The video and audio settings and the tracks encoding are the same for at least 2 years now, since I m working ALLWAYS with my P2 panasonic DCVPROHD camera, with which I have shot and edit in my MAC PRO multiple videos, including a feature film..
I have tested the problem on two Macbook pros (early 2007) that I use for the shootings and the problem is there also !(when I plug the Profire 610)
The last think that I 've tried on my main unit, was:
-do a zero data format to my vertex 2 ssd boot drive,
-do a clean install of Snow Leopard (10.6.0)
-restore the system from a time machine backup (the os still remains 10.6.0)
    -run 10.6.6 combo update
    -uninstall the profire driver
    -repair permissions
-install the profire driver (for 32 bit 10.6.6)
    -repair permissions.
    The problem's still here.
I m stuck with my projects here… Is there a solution out there?
Thank you very much for the attention

So, to be clear, it happens when the FirePro 610 in connected, and does not happen when it's diconnected?
That is obviously directly related to the FirePRo 610 having some hardware latency issues on an OS level.  That's up to M-Audio to fix.  There was never anything wrong with your Mac, there's something wrong with the M-Audio unit, obviously.
Do you have a FW hard drive plugged in?  If so, will it work correctly without any other FW devices connected?
    It could be defective.

  • Audio Dropouts on H.264 Quicktime movies playing from CD ROM or DVD ROM

I've been consistently having trouble getting H.264 .mov files saved on a CD-Rom or DVD-ROM to play back smoothly on Windows computers. The files will open, but there always seems to be sporadic audio dropouts, every 5-10 seconds the audio will drop out for half a second or so. This doesn't appear to be affecting the video. When the files are copied to the hard drive, the problem goes away, and the problem isn't present at all when playing back on Macs (regardless of whether the file is on a disc or on the HD).
I've read elsewhere on this forums that this is perhaps a data-rate problem, but this really doesn't make any sense to me, seeing as these are highly compressed, very small files (5 fps on the video, audio is AAC mono, 32kbps). Unless my understanding of data rate is completely backwards, a DVD Video or Audio CD would have a much higher data-rate. Seeing as Macs have no problem with this, I'm inclined to think it's some sort of problem with Windows' ability to handle AAC audio. If anyone has any experience with this, and/or ideas for a solution, I would greatly appreciate some feeback.
    Thanks!

If the problem goes away when the file is copied to the hard drive, then the problem is almost certainly with the data transfer rate from the CD/DVD drive. If the problem were with Windows decoding H.264 and/or AAC, the problem would also appear for files copies to the hard drive. H.264 is a pretty data-intensive format, so it could easily exceed the available data rate of a CD or DVD. (note that file size will make no difference; it's the data rate, which comes from a combination o the image size of the video and the compression of the video and audio tracks) that's the only factor).
Run QuickTime Player, open one of the videos, and open the Movie Inspector for the movie (Window -> Show Movie Inspector). Then take a look at the data rate and compare that to the data rate of your CD/DVD drive. If the drive's rate is lower, you have your answer. If it shows that it should be able to handle the data rate, you may need to update or replace the drivers for your CD/DVD drive and/or update the drive's firmware.
    Hope this helps.

  • Export Audio to Movie - NOT IN SYNC ANYMORE in 9.1??

This is either a major, major bug or I am completely out of it.
When I do an export audio to movie command, the resulting Quicktime movie has the audio and video not synced as they were in Logic.
I have just upgraded to 9.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 this week. I am having this problem with the 32-bit version of Logic.
Most of my sessions have the movie start time pushed forward or back to suit the start of the audio. I had NO problem in 9.0.2 with this feature.
ALSO.... what's the deal with the the 64-bit Audio bridge plug-in windows? Do we always have to do a double-click to open the actual GUI now-on? Totally s**ks.
    Thanks.

Are the movie start times and sequence start times the same? For example, do both the music and the audio start at beat 1, bar 1?
I've found that Logic 9 doesn't maintain the same sync that your project has. In other words, if your video doesn't have a 'pre-roll', but your audio has a one bar count in, then the "bounce to movie" feature will have audio that is out by 1 bar. It's kinda dumb, because Logic should be smart enough to know you want to export the same audio/video sync as you have in your project. But alas it doesn't work that way...
Other possible culprits are latency-inducing plugs on the master bus, like limiters and 3rd party DSP plugins (UAD, Duende, etc).
One workaround I've started using is to bounce my audio mix first, then bring it back on a clean track and trim it to start on the exact same frame as the movie. Then solo the 'mix' audio track and "export to movie" (being sure to bypass any master buss plugins first, so the mix doesn't get processed a 2nd time). this usually works, and also makes it easier to keep track of revised mixes as you go ahead (just make copies of your 'mix' track and mute earlier versions).
    good luck.

  • Audio out of sync after importing .MOV

Experiencing audio out-of-sync issues after importing a .mov clip into Premiere Pro.
The .mov clip causing the problem does not have a problem when played with quicktime or vlc: The audio matches the video perfectly.
Adobe Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1 (4) on OSX 10.9.1

  • Editing-- Insert video and move audio over preserving sync

I really love iM6. I do have FCExp, but I've gotten so comefortable with iM6 that I hate to change. But I am frustrated by one thing.
I may be trying to do something too advanced for iMovie (6HD) but almost everything else with this product is so amazing, I can't imagine that they didn't build this in. I must be overlooking something.
I am making dvds from a VHS conversion of some 60-70s 8mm home movies. A labor of love for an aging parent. The amateur filmmaker used to project them with records playing, and at some point he collected all his chosen LP music onto a cassette (not on the video cassette, a music only cassette). So, I play the VHS and the music at the same time and use an analog to Firewire converter and load all into iM6. So far so good. Then, because I need to seriously mess with the music to put it more or less in sync with the video segments, I extract the audio so it now shows up as a second track. Still no problem. Now in editing I clip or split the audio into separate pieces and checkerboard them, alternating between the two audio tracks in the timeline so I can adjust volumes, cross fade, etc.
The first volume I did took a lot of twiddling and tweaking to keep all the clips in their proper places. I'd work at the end of the piece, then at the beginning then back to the end with the result that the audio clips were always sliding out of position. I can't quite figure out how to keep two audio tracks in sync with the video. BUT I did finally finish and when I started the next one, I swore that I'd always finish a segment and then move on to the next, always left to right, never tweaking the finished stuff to the left (earlier on the time line). This has made the job much easier but I have one big problem now. I did not think to put some black at the head of the project to put the titles on!
You'd think I could just put the cursor at 0:00 and insert a 6 second title over black and it would move all the video and audio to the right by six seconds. But what happens is only the video slides over. The two audio tracks don't move and are now six seconds early. Sure, I could go ahead and re-adjust all the 30 or 40 audio clips, but I can't help thinking that "Apple wouldn't make me do this..."
Has anyone any idea how to lock all the edited material together so I could insert some space to the left without losing sync?
PS does anyone share my frustration on THIS: when I copy a little piece of sound from one of those tracks and then paste the copy, there's no telling where it will land... It never goes to the cursor position. If I'm lucky it lands somewhere on the timeline after the project end and I can drag it back to where I want it. But on an hour project this is annoying.

Hmmm. this was supposed to go to the iM6HD group. I wonder if there's a way to move it.

  • TS1718 Movie audio does not sync with movie

    Hi,
The movies I have bought through iTunes store does not work properly. I bought two last week and when trying to play them back over the weekend, the audio is not sync'd with the movie playback. I have a Winodws 8 laptop and enough space for the films to be played. The software is all up to date and can therefore see no problem as to why this should not be working. Does anybody know of any way to resolve this to allow me to watch the films?
    Thanks,

  • Random audio dropouts from FCP 4 to Quicktime Movie

Never experienced this headache before, until today...
I've built my project as per usual in FCP4 - no problem. Then I exported project as Quicktime Movie for iDVD4 but I noticed that audio disappeared in two different sections - each portion of silence lasting a minute or so.
I went back to FCP and exported a new Quicktime Movie - almost the same result only audio disappeared in a different section for three minutes or so. Back to FCP and I built my project on a new timeline (Sequence) - same result when I exported to Quicktime but again, dropouts occur in different sections.
At present, I'm exporting each of the 10 Sequences that make up my project as separate Quicktime Movies and so far, I've completed 2 with no audio dropouts.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

  • I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync.  They work fine when played in Quicktime.

    Hello,
I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync as soon as I load it into the program.  It appears to work fine in Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. This is the plan.
Open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace.
In the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
In the Change Settings area, select the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p30
OK out of there. In the New Project dialog that appears, note that it has your new project preset named.
Be sure to put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". And, then OK out of there.
Back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders to bring your video
into Project Assets. From Project Assets drag your video to the Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1.
Is there an orange line over the content in the Timeline. See screenshot for orange line to which I am referring.
There should be no colored line over the content if the project preset matches the video properties. But, if you do see
that orange line, then render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or press
the Render button above the Timeline.
Do your video/audio now play back in the Edit area monitor in sync?
Please let us know the result, and then we will decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • "Export Audio To Movie" is out of sync - please help.

    Hi
I recently upgraded to LP8.01 and am trying to put audio (sound design) to a piece of animation.
Despite the audio being perfectly sync'ed in Logic, when I bounce to Quicktime, the audio is anything from 0.5 to 1 seconds late in the resulting movie. The pice has lots of really quick edits and sound FX, so it can't work unless it's perfectly locked.
Does anybody have any tips or advice on how to get this working correctly? I've tried bouncing in chunks, starting before the movie file, after the movie file start, just the middle bit - none of the resulting movies are in time.
    Many thanks for any help.

  • Weird audio out of sync problem after export

This is the second time I've run into this problem. My video and audio are in sync in my timeline, but upon export to QT, one of the clips (but ONLY one of the clips) is out of sync. I tried exporting two different times: same result.
Doesn't make sense to me. All the clips were imported from the same DV tape from my Canon HV30.
Can anyone give me some advice here?? Thanks.

How are you exporting? The first quicktime export option or quicktime conversion? What are your settings for the export?
Did you capture with device control with abort capture on dropped frames and create new clip on timecode break enabled?
