Audio drops out while video continues to play just after making a cut!

I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro for a few months now and I use it to edit my YouTube gameplay videos. Here is everything I am doing in Adobe Pr:
1. Create new project
2. import my raw gameplay video (m2ts file)
3. import my wave sound file (my commentary)
4. Put them on the time line and play the video (it works then)
5. make a cut somewhere and the GAMEPLAY audio drops out not the video or my commentary.
The same thing happens in Adobe Premiere Elements as well. Should I convert my m2ts files to MP4 or AVI or something??? Please help

Last week, this song played fine on the burned copy.
Is this problem now showing up in the iDVD preview mode? Or is it with subsequent burned DVD's?
Go back to your project in iDVD. Go to File>Save as disk image. This will create a file that can be viewed on your computer's DVD player. The disk image will show you how your project will appear when played on a standard DVD player. See if this problem is repeated. If everything is fine, go ahead and burn the DVD using Disk Utility.
I hope this helps.

  • Audio drop out while playing DVD

I import a quick time file from Final Cut Pro into DVD Studio Pro. I burn my DVD and it plays just fine in my MacPro. However, when I play it in my home DVD player (and other people's home DVD player), the audio drops real low when there are not two channels of audio playing.
For example . . . At the start of the piece when just music is playing, the audio levels are real low. But when the voice track comes in, all audio channels come up to their normal level.
I would love any assistance with this problem. Thanks!

I too have been experiencing this problem recently. It does sound like my hard drive is falling a sleep and then has to start up again every few minutes. I'm running the latest version of iTunes and have a 300GB internal hardrive in my G4 Tower running the latest 10.4 OS. I though it was an energy saver issue and turned off "put hard disk to sleep" as well as turned off the screen save and everything else. Not ideal but am in the process of testing it to see if it's related.
    Strange this would happen.

  • Audio dropping out on videos

my daughters toshiba laptop will play videos but the sound keeps dropping out and the only remedy she has is to refresh the page, whereupon the audio resumes exactly where it left off. This doesn't solve the problem, however, and she is getting heartily sick of spending hours watching a dislocated short video.Any help would be appreciated. This has been happening for months...she is a patient person.

Moved to the Using Flash Player forum as this is not specific to the latest Flash Player beta.  Someone here will be able to help you, but I'll get you started.
We'll need some additional information in order to figure out what is going on.  There are a lot of possible reasons that this might be happening.  Complete answers to the questions and troubleshooting steps below will allow us to isloate the root-cause (and there's a good chance you'll end up fixing it as you work through the steps).
    Basic Troubleshooting Info
To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    - Operating system
    - Browser
    - Flash Player version - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
The first step is to work through the video troubleshooting guide for your operating system, here:
    - Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
    - Mac - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.htm
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    - Windows - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Windows_users
    - Mac - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_For_Mac_OS_users
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify this by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the menu.

  • Audio dropping out, but video fine. Please help!

For the past week or so i've been having this issue where after so many minutes of watching tv the audio will cut out from that channel, but the video will remain the same.  If I change the channel the audio is fine, but eventually it will cut out.  I then can go to a THIRD channel and, sure enough, sound will drop eventually.  It's not the TV because I was watching DVDs all day and it was perfectly fine.  I don't have surround sound, it's not hooked through a receiver or anything else fancy.  It's just a straight connection from the box to the TV via an HDMI cable.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That might be fixed by doing the following
There is a special setup menu that you can enter, that is NOT part of the regular set to box menu settings. To get there:
Power off the Set top box -> Select -> Menu.
On STB's with no select or menu buttons, on the remote press STB Power OFF -> OK -> Menu.
You will see a white screen and an all text menu called USER SETTINGS. Use the arrow keys to move around.
Scroll down to a line that says "ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS" and hit a right arrow to get into the next level of the menu
There is a sound setting called AUDIO OUTPUT It says AUTO Scroll to it and change it to L-PCM.
Exit out of the menus, power the unit off and power it on again

  • Audio Drop Out/Popping sound Problem

    Hi,
For the last few weeks (since i installed snow leopard i think), i have been getting a lot of audio drop outs, where all of a sudden the sound goes dead and i get a popping sound coming from my speakers.
I am using a pre sonus fire studio project audio interface, with its firmware updated to the latest (the latest update was a beta snow leopard update).
I am running logic pro 8 with snow leopard 10.6.2.
I think i have narrowed the problem down to my presonus fire studio because i totally disconnected it and used logics built in audio soundcard and i didn't get any audio drop out at all.
I was just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences or ideas and suggestions on what is best to do?
thanks in advance for any help.
    Tom

It depends, are you running off battery when this happens? If so then morethan likely it is the audio hardware coming back online. In an effort to conserve power, what Mac OS X does is when you are on battery is that it turns off your audio hardware when it has not been used for a certian amount of time. This popping sound is typical of the audio hardware being powered up.

  • Audio drops out when following video to external monitor

When I play a sequence to an external monitor, the audio drops out for 2 to 3 seconds after changes on the video track, and then pops back in with no interuption in video output. It doesn't happen at every cut, but it's consistent in the places it does. I thought it might be caused by the size the project has become. So I exported the sequence as a quicktime file, closed the lage project, opened a new one and exported the new file and played it and it happened again, even though there were no edits. It doesn't occur at all when I turn off external video, and play it on the computer. I connected a new firewire from the computer to my DV deck, restarted the computer, but it keeps happening.
Is it that the dramatic change in color, light and compostion crowding out the audios ability to follow the video through the wire?
I'm completely stumped. The next step will be to open the computer and try to blow any excess dust out. I do this periodically anyway, and my last time was two months ago, so I'd be surprised if it works.
Maybe the G4 with 2G processing power can no longer handle the program, but it shows no sign of stuggle in any other way.
My clients are starting to grow restless.

Thank you so much X & Paul, for your suggestions. Although they didn't solve the problem, they kept me hopeful enough to continue my quest for an answer. After exhausting all effort to find the problem in the audio, I decided to focus on the video. So, I tried correcting the excess luma on the consolidated QT movie, and suddenly the problem was fixed. Because of the different levels of correction I'd need for each and every cut in the original sequence, and the precious time it would take, I'd planned to save it for the color correction stage, a mere 2 weeks away. I remembered how illegal white would often cause the image on some monitors, specifically consumer TVs, to waver for a second. But this was happening all the way back to the DV deck's audio meter, so I never expected it to be a luma issue.
I assume that the outdating capacity of my G4 played a part, but I wanted to write back with my thanks, and to impart my illuminated wisdom to the next perplexed soul.
    Thanks again,
    jesterhead

  • Audio drop outs and continuing problems- Apple Support informed again.

    Hi All,
Have had various audio problems with iMovie transfer to iDVD 6. iMovie had the problems initially but a weird trick seems to be helping me.
Copy a random new audio track into my film, paste it, then cut it out then empty trash..... all of a sudden my audio is clean again and perfectly in time with the video. I have informed the iMovies people in Ireland and they are at a loss to explain why this is now ok.
BACK to the plot and iDVD 6.
When I try to export this project from iMovie in iDVD 6 it either becomes an audio garbled nightmare or if I try and import into iDVD 6 I get audio that gradually becomes out of sync with the video visual. I know that this project was recorded in 16 bit audio so no joy there.
I've told Apple in Ireland that there are major audio issues with iDVD 6's audio set up + something they were apparently unaware of. I was assured that the tech dept's would investigate and solve. I am really surprised that they hadn't seen this problem in this forum!!
In the meantime any advice is very gratefully received. I'm on an Intel G5 Imac with 1.83ghz 1Gb sdram and 250 GB HD. So Software is currently limited!! I desperately need to get this project to DVD!!!!
    Many thanks,
    GUY

SAME EXACT THING HERE. This is what I posted in a diff thread:
    2013 iMac 1TB Flash Drive
    OS 10.8.5
Constant audio drop outs using Apogee Duet. I have to unplug and replug several times to get the system to recognize it. Sometimes when it is connected, Audio Prefs doesn't even recognize it and it shows up as "Unknown". When I click Audio Prefs before I get in, I get the spinning beachball and it takes a while for it to open. I have been in touch with Apogee but to no avail. It seems to work on my 2013 Macbook Pro, but I haven't tested extensively. It seems to get tripped up if I'm working in Ableton and get a Facetime call or if I try to use Youtube / Soundcloud. The system gets noticebly slower. When I switch back to Ableton, Duet is recognized (sometimes not recognized at all) but I cannot play anything inside the project window.
Not sure what to do at this point

  • Video & Audio Drop Outs on Macbook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro with Version 10.7.3, 6 months old. Just recently when I play video, regardless of whether it's in iTunes, iMovie, or embedded in Keynote the video sticks, audio drops out for 1 -2 seconds or the shot freezes. What causes this and how is it fixed.

I apologize for the audio drop outs. I have sent you a private message to get account information from you so we can reprogram your boxes.

  • Video playback slow and audio drop out after render

    Hi
I have downloaded a trial version of After Effects from the cc,
Problem is everytime I render ou,t the video playback is slow and the audio drops out
This happens with AVI or Quicktime files.
Using a Intel i5 quad core, 8 gig of ram 250 gig ssd.laptop
Render/export in Premire pro is fine.
    Can any one help.
    Regards Phil Green

It sounds like you might be hitting the space bar in hopes of getting real time playback.  Sorry, but AE doesn't work like that, because it does totally different things from an editing application like Premiere.
And if you've downloaded the tryout version, you really ought to learn how AE works... and a short description is "it doesn't work intuitively".  You can frustrate yourself in a hurry.
    But this can really help;

  • Audio Drops Out at End of Imported Clips

    Hi, Guys,
I have read everything and tried everything, but I can't find a solution to something which seems like it should be obvious:
I am in the process of uploading some TV programs to YouTube. I am using iMovie '11 to cut them into chunks of less than 15 minutes each. When I import the material into iMovie from a file, iMovie automatically breaks the source material into ~5 minute clips. For some reason, the sound for the last half-second or so at the end of each clip is automatically muted by the import process. Needless to say when I cut the clips back together in an attempt to recreate the video stream as it originally was, there is a half-second of audio drop-out marking the spot where the clips are welded together.
How can I get this to stop???
I notice that the advertising makes a big point of 'iMovie HD' allowing the user to adjust the length of the clips that it cuts source material into during import. Please tell me this is not a work-around for this problem 10 years after-the-fact!
    Thank you.

I used to have a saying which I applied to John Cage's compositions:
"He's got nothing to say, and he's saying it. And that's BS."
Faceless capricious corporate censorship is good HOW?
As regards iMovie '11 muting a short bit of audio from the ends of clips, it turns out to be the beginnings of the clips:
My prior post uncovered a very different problem in my process. (At the time, a virtually non-existent process!)
    Now I have learned my up the learning curve to the point where I am beginning to actually use some of the functionality in iMovie '11. Unfortunately my original observation of "a bit of sound" (50 to 100 milliseconds) disappearing between clips is still a problem. Here are 3 minimalist examples in the form of short test vids: {Just click "Play all". Titles projected over the vid list what you are hearing. The "about box" (YouTube "Description:" field) contains even more detail.}
    http://www.youtube.com/viewplaylist?p=7E219251FC3C5FEC
I can now characterize this problem in more detail than I could previously:
The first 50 - 100 milliseconds of sound are squelched in the beginning of a clip when it is uploaded to YouTube from iMovie. This is NOT a YouTube transcoder issue. Reloading multiple copies of the same clip into iMovie yield the same result there: Dead sound between clips.
This demonstrates that iMovie chops the first ~50 milliseconds of audio off of the beginning of a vid when it "shares" (exports) it. Apparently the missing audio in some way becomes an "attribute"of the clip (like a crossfade transition that you can't remove from the beginning!), because attempts to trim the squelched audio off of the beginning of the clip meet with failure; the "bad leading edge" stays with the clip, even after the apparently offending segment has intentionally been discarded.
I checked the audio gaps with Audition, and, while I was guessing 50 - 100 ms, it turns out to be exactly 52 milliseconds of audio is squelched at the beginning of a clip. (I tried to display the image of the spectral & time-domain response here, but I can't figure out how to upload TIFFs into this forum.)
I am sure this must be the result of some simple default setting in iMovie which automatically adds a "style" or something to my vid clips upon export, but I have tried everything I can find, and, if it is, I haven't managed to reliably turn if off yet.
N.B. if I remain inside an iMovie editing session, and paste pieces together into clips without exporting the clip, or interrupting the session (as I did to produce the test vids), everything is fine. But as soon as I save a clip, the first 52 ms of audio seems to irrecoverably disappear. That continues to hold true no matter which frame in the clip subsequently becomes the new beginning.
Please forgive my iMovie newbie ignorance, but: How do I get it to STOP???
    Thank you.

  • Audio Drops Out on Long Clip: Win 7 - AVCHD - CS4 (PP4.1)

I've just brought up a cranking new Win 7 64-bit machine today and thus far almost everything has flowed swimmingly. I can work with AVCHD files easily, can run to AE and PS, etc. All great.
Then this evening I tried a clip that was significantly longer than the otehrs I'd been trying. It's about 10 minutes in a single take. After a couple of minutes, the audio just stops playing. The timeline display shows audio information there -- but it just stops playing any sound, even as the picture continues.
I thought: maybe it's building a preview. So I let it sit for a couple of minutes, then hit play -- same behavior, audio vanishes at the same point in the clip.
Next, I broke out NeoScene and copied the same clip to Cineform. Loaded up the copied file in PP CS4 and found that it played without any issues. All picture, all audio.
Any suggestions, other than converting everything to Cineform (I bought this machine so I wouldn''t have to!!)?
I shot that clip on a Canon HF S11 @ "PF30" -- which is still stored at 60i in the AVCHD file. Could this be the culprit? (And if so, what to do about it?)
    Thanks,
    kb

    My setup is as follows:
Premiere: Pro CS4 updated to current.
Computer: Quad core (HPM9060N tricked out with 8G RAM, 1.5T primary disc, Win7 Ultimate 64-bit)
Cameras: Sony HDR-SR5 (Hard-drive early AVCHD c. 2007. This camera is basically retired but I am still doing post on some files created with this camera - the new one just came out Mar. 7...)
Sony HDR-CX550V (absolute jewel of a camera; top-of-the-line consumer; 64G flash memory, somewhat tweaked and updated; allows saving of sound as 2-track instead of forcing 5.1).
I produce videos for small opera companies in New York City. My standard product is a one-camera shoot of the opera divided by acts, so I will have files approaching 1-1 1/2 hours. I have found Premiere support to be clueless and/or in denial about some of the problems with these files which almost exclusively have to do with audio (the video editing window looks horrible but the final product is excellent; I think this is being remedied in CS5...)
The usual problem is that the audio drops out at some point. I'm sure that I should put a "do not open til Xmas" sign on the thing and not mess with it while it's conforming and that MAYBE that would stop the "silent-movie" effect at the end of the files.
I have found an effective work-around: CLOSE Premiere, LOCATE AND DELETE the .cfa and .pek files associated with the offending clip, OPEN the .m2ts file in Soundbooth. Save the file as a .wav; re-open PPro, unlink and delete the original soundtrack and replace with the .wav. Hope you haven't edited the video first! Since the application has the same hooks as PPro but uses WAY less resources (and it won't LET you try to mess with the file while it's conforming!) it invariably finishes out the result.
This adds significant time to the workflow. Shame on Adobe for not having fixed this (and other anomalies surrounding AVCHD) during the reign of CS4; let's hope they get it right NEXT version!

  • Audio dropping out during playback in timeline

    Hey everyone,
I've dug through these forums and unless I just completely overlooked it I have not found a solution to this issue. I've listed my setup below and then have stated the issue I'm experiencing.
    27-inch, Mid 2011 iMac
    3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon HD 6970 1024MB
    Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
    Currently working off of a portable 1TB G-Technology G-DRIVE via FW800.
Working in Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.2
Editing in a sequence with settings:
    1920 x 1080 23.976fps (also tried in a 29.97fps timeline with same issue)
Working with footage that is 23.98fps
Working with a combination of ProRes 422 (LT) and native H.264 Quicktime files strait from a 5D Mark 3.
The issue I'm having is during playback the audio will competely drop out. The video will continue playing on just fine but the audio drops completely out. All audio levels drop as well in the audio mixer meters so it truly is losing all communication with my audio layers in the timeline.
I read in other forums to go into Finder and delete out the .caf files, re open Premiere Pro, wait for them to be recreated then carry on. I tried this approach with no luck. Deleting the .caf did not change anything. Audio is still dropping out as I try to play through my timeline. The only way to get the audio back is to pause then press play again. I have 5 total channels of audio with only 2 of those channel active.
Any ideas on what is happening would be greatly appreciated. This is incredibly frustrating have to export out a video just to be able to watch it through.

Having this annoying problem also.  Using the Space Bar to play timeline it takes pressing and holding to a count of three or trying press play three time in a row using the space bar to get ungarbled audio, or any audio at all in a normal uncomplicated sequence on the timeline.
Really annoying.  Audio used to be so simple and untaxing to a sequence.

  • Audio drops out randomly in FCP5

    Hello,
I'm running FCP 5.0.4 on a G5 OSX 10.3.9 and a AJA io LA with current firmware v1.1 and driver v2.1.
When playing a sequence, audio will be fine. Going from AJA through mixer, to speakers and decks. Then the audio will cut ot completely, but video will continue to play. The meters in FCP show the audio is there, but nothing is getting to the mixer, and therefore nothing is getting onto tape, or coming out of my speakers. This problem occurs in every project we've worked with, and doesn't happen at the same point in the sequence. Any ideas? I'm not sure what other info might be useful, so please request more if you have any ideas. Thank you for your time.
    Ben Slocum
    KCOY-TV/KKFX-TV

Hi all -- I've experienced this problem on a number of projects, one tonight prompted me to check the forum. I used one of the work-arounds and want to report on it, in case it works for someone else or someone with the FCP development team is reading.
My timeline would drop the audio at a repeatable point each time. If I nested the sequence in another sequence, the audio would play but would have a nasty discontinuity right at the frame where the audio drops out in the original sequence.
I used the transparent video slug work-around and it worked (create a slug, set its transparency to zero and place it over the spot where the audio drops out). This occured twice in my timeline. Both times I had used a certain video clip. I had to stretch the slug to exactly match the duration of the offending video clip in order to keep the audio from dropping out.
This sounds like a bug that should be repeatable and fixed. If anyone with FCP development team wants my project, I would be glad to send it to them on a DVD for investigation. I'm running FCP 5.0.3 on a G5 dual 2.7GHz with an internal SATA drive, so it probably isn't a machine speed issue. (I tried the re-render trick and that didn't work and if I remove the slug or change its duration to anything less than the duration of the offending video clip, the audio drops out again.)

  • Audio drops out when scrolling playlists after upgrading new version of 9.2

    Hi Folks,
Has anyone noticed an issue when scrolling the playlists in Itunes now that the audio drops out for a second.
I use an external USB audio device by Native Instruments called the Audio Kontrol 1.
I have watched the processes on my PC and when I scroll up and down on the playlist. Something spikes causing audio to not play for a second.
I am hoping to fix this somehow as I do not want to roll back (not even sure if you can). I also have heard with dual core processors that occasionally audio can get stopped as other processes take over where in single core processors everything cued up (any truth to that).
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
