Audio during menu

Hi, I've been using iDVD for a while and have never had a problem, however, I just put together a slideshow and am trying to add audio to the menu (which I've done multiple times without an issue), for some reason on this project there is no sound on the menu...has anyone else experienced this problem. Once I select "play" the audio from the show plays...but nothing during the menu.
Any advice?

Hi suzannebarr
Welcome. Check the motion button (the 2 arrows that point at each other at the bottom center of iDvd's viewer). Should be activate if you wish to see motion as well as listening to audio on that particular theme (assuming this is an option for the theme in use at the time).
If that's not the issue then, quit iDvd. Then dispose of iDvd's plist located in your Home folder (the one that looks like a house) > Libaray > Preferences >
com.apple.iDvd.plist
Restart iDvd and try the theme again? .... any luck?
If not, tell us which theme you are using. Might wish to try going into the audio file for that particular theme (click the "i" / inspector on the bottom left of the viewer) after launching iDvd. Is there an existing audio file in the audio drop well? If so, drag and drop it outside the well and onto your desktop. Now you'll be able to adjust /access / increase the volume in the drop well. Now add that audio file back in the well and adjust your volume as needed.
If all the above fails then just come on back for further troubleshooting advice.
Btw, the format for the Travel theme's audio reads mpeg4 on my own mac as opposed to aiff. I'm wondering if this might make a significant difference here or not?
Good luck!

  • Continuous audio during menu navigation

Is there a way to have an audio track play continuously from one menu to the next? I'd like to have a song begin when the DVD is loaded and then continue playing as the user navigates through various menus. Once a video/chapter is selected, the music would stop and the audio would switch to the video... that sounds kind of odd, but I think you know what I mean.

Unfortuataly thats impossible on dvds alltogether. the reason for that is that each menu is actully a separate video file which has its own audio track. DVDs cant have a single audio track run and then switch menues with that one track playing. just look at commercial dvds. None of them do that.

  • No audio during fast playback.

FCP stopped playing audio during fast playback. The audio plays fine while playback is at normal speed, but once I speed it up the playback is silent. Other people use this computer, so they might have changed a setting that I am unaware of. Help is appreciated.

  • Unable to monitor audio during capture

I'm using FCP6 to capture footage shot with a JVC GY-HD100U at HDV 720p24. I'm using a JVC BR-HD50 deck to capture from, connected to my MacPro 3 GHz quad via firewire.
In the Audio/Video Setting dialog box, the Sequence Preset is "HDV 720P24". My Capture Preset is "HDV", Device Control Preset "HDV FireWire". Video Playback shows "[Missing] Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)" and offers only the options of None and Digital Cinema Desktop Preview–Main as alternate choices. Both HDV options are greyed out. The Audio Playback option is set to Default.
With this setup, controlling the deck remotely from the capture window, I get video but no audio. The only audio I get is when the deck is connected to my video monitor and I use it to monitor the output of the deck. The audio is there when I play back the clips after capture but I cannot monitor the sound with the computer's speakers. If I go to the A/V Devices tab, under Video, it shows the same "[Missing] Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480) with the same choices described above, and the Options button next to it doesn't do anything.
Can anyone think of anything I've missed in the initial setup?

    Keith,
For whatever reason (perhaps the intense processor needs) HDV does not allow you to monitor your audio during capture. The computer just will not do it. What I have done, if I really want to hear what's happening durning capture, is plug my speakers into the headphone jack of my XL H1. Due to the processing that's going on, the audio "lags" behind the video by a couple of seconds.
I'm pretty sure this is not a setup problem, but just a limitation due to the nature of your format.
    Hope that helps!

  • No Audio during Log and Capture

Hello, I have FCP 6.0 and am unable to hear my audio during log and capture. I have this problem on all 5 G5 Macs that I have, and have tried different editing docks and cables. I have used FCP for more than 5 years and have never had this problem. iMovie has audio during capture, so I am convinced that there is a pre-set in FCP that I don't have checked properly, but I've been over them many times and still have no answer. I searched past forums and didn't really find anything helpful to me.
My pre-sets are set to DV NTSC 48kHz and the playback pre-sets are set to default. I can hear audio of my clips after I log and capture, but I still need to hear audio during importing. I'm more confused than anything. If anybody has had this problem before or any suggestions for me, I'm all ears.
    Thanks.
    John

    ... as Bogie says.
However... this is a non-feature that dates back to slower CPU days... yet, still with all the different formats and such I (ME!!) I believe it's still good practice to leave it off.
Devoting as much CPU work to the capture process lessens the chance for something to go wrong. You can easily monitor the audio directly out of the deck as needed.
Sure -- octo cores need 30 apps open just to get your money's worth and I'm sure you won't have any issues using an 8th of one to send audio thru itself while the other 7 and 7/8ths are used for capture... but who wants to risk it?
Not me... I'm to old to change my ways.
Blast you FCP v1.2.5 on a beige G3 with 7gig and 15gig hard drive -- you taught me well.

  • Photoshop CC video: Where is the audio flyout menu? I want to set the audio level of a clip but when I click the little triangle the flyout only offers Motion options, no audio.

I created a video clip by ripping from a (non-protected) DVD & brought it into Photoshop CC for editing. I want the audio to fade in & out but cannot find any audio controls!
The info I've found online says to click the little triangle at the right end of the clip & I should get the audio flyout menu, but all I get is a menu with "Motion" options.
Please help!! Where are the audio options I see on the tutorials?
    Thanks ...

The audio was indeed in there; I could hear it! But I found the fix:
Some Googling revealed that the timeline video sprites should appear *blue*, not purple as in my screenshot. I'm not sure how that happened, but I scrapped the project & restarted from scratch - and though I can't say what I did differently, this time the video sprite in the timeline was blue, and the audio flyout was there! So it's all good, thanks!

  • Adobe Premiere CC 2014 - droping audio during multicam

    Hello all,
I have an issue with Premiere CC's multicam and it seems to be dropping audio during switching of cameras in mutlicam. I have not figured out what causes this since it only happens about 4 times per one hour clip, totally random. Now I don't see any wrong settings, but with expanded view I also see that the waveform is missing:
Any ideas on how to get the audio back, not sure what happened but any ideas are appreciated. I have already re-rendered the audio so I'm guessing it's not a cache problem. The audio is a direct input from the mixing table and is full with no breaks through the video.

OK I have finally figured it out. Apparently the bug occurs if you "refix" the multicam. Example I was not happy with the selected camera went back and reedited it. Premiere then becomes a 62yo cafeteria lady, whom is 1 month away from being retired and a kid says he doesn't eat a certain food and she just fixed everything up and serves him.
What happens is the 1st time around I used example camera 1, did not like what I was seeing went back switched to camera 3, Premiere switched the audio to Camera 2. It always chose the third audio that wasn't the video (Example nr. 2: I used camera 3 switched to camera 1 Premiere selected the audio of camera 2). I've set the multicam to use only Audio Track 1 and the rest are all nonexisting, since I wanted to use only the audio that was a direct input from the mixing board not from the mics on cameras, that is why the drop happened. Now why Premiere does this is anybody's guess, but the way to fix this is to simply go to the parts where there is no audio clicking on the audio while holding ALT, going to Multi-camera and choosing the right audio source, as you can see from the screenshots below.
Of course there is one problem left unsolved and that is how to prevent this from choosing a random reedited multicam clip when you turn off or restart your computer, simply put you cannot. So my advice for anyone looking to solve this is 1st find the clips that are problematic then change the audio sources, and just make the encode. Other than that it can be solved with a little fix, just replacing the audio in the original sequence with the one you want for every camera, but then a 1-2ms buzzing noise comes in whenever you change cameras in my case working on a rock concert where mostly the camera changes every 3 sec it starts to sound like a bee hive in a matter of minutes, and I have no fix for that at the moment.

  • NO AUDIO DURING PLAYBACK ON TIMELINE

Ever since I tried using the Narration tool in Premiere Elements 12, I have had nothing but problems with audio.  The narration tool itself cause Premiere to crash.  I decided not to use it again, but I continue to have problems.  I can hear audio in the clips when i play them through the source monitor, but if I drop it on the timeline, then there is no audio during playback.  I've already checked my audio output settings and I've already tried restarting Elements and my Macbook.  I've even tried to change the audio output devices just to make sure I didn't screw it up when trying to activate the microphone for narration.  Please help!
*NOTE - this is only a problem in the current project.  When I made a new project, it played back fine.  The problem is that I have hundreds of assets that I've renamed with descriptive file names, as opposed to the formatted file name the camera gave them.

    Good morning Steve.
Yes, there is a waveform on the clips.  However, when I open Audio Mixer, I do not see any audio registering.
Also, I do not have a USB microphone plugged into my computer.
Finally, I have done the Audio Hardware check.  I have tried using both "Built in Output" and "System Default Input/Output" but neither works.
Not sure if it helps to know this, but I have also tried to add music files to both Audio 1 track and also Soundtrack track.  Neither one will play back audio on the timeline, even though I can clearly see the waveform on the file.  It also does not register on the audio mixer.  This tells me that it;s definitely an issue with this specific timeline.  Is there any setting or mute button I may have accidentally changed?  None of the mute buttons are checked off in the audio mixer.

  • NO AUDIO during playback after converting the VIDEO using Creative Video Conver

    I have a ZEN 2GB/4GB/8GB/6GB/32GB.
I tried to convert video from a dvd using Creative Video Converter.
The video is fine but there is no audio during playback.
    What am I doing wrong?

"If this is the case, the original video file may be in a format that contains muxed (multiplexed) audio and video, and cannot be exported with audio."..."If the format is "MPEG1 Muxed" or "MPEG2 Muxed," the audio portion of the file may not be retained with QuickTime Pro or iMovie."
I have read that article and I thought it ment that the sound will work after you convert to the MPEG4 format, which I did.
Are you saying that if it starts out as "Muxed audio" then there is no way to convert it?
If that is the case then in what situation would you need to use the Videora Converter?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • I am trying to locate the 'Audio Tools Menu' in Premier elements 9.

I want to add a narration using Premier Elements 9.  I am told to choose "Add Narration" from the "Audio Tools Menu", but have been unable to locate anything like that.  Just how is that done?

    HowardLouis
Premiere Elements 9 workspace and the speaker icon below the monitor and above the Timeline.
After you click on Add Narration
What microphone do you have? Typically, problems with the USB type.
Check out the Adobe Document for Narration
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiereelements/using/WSED45334D-D309-445e-AF34-2AB3E3CCAA8D. html
It is labelled for Premiere Elements 11, but the principles are the same.
Any questions or clarifications needed, please let me know.
    Thanks.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • No audio during playback

Hello all, I am extremely consfused as to what is wrong with the premiere pro settings. I have a blackmagic intensity pro installed. I can use it just fine to capture video. No matter what audio files or Videos I use, the audio meters show audio during playback, but my speakers are not playing anything. I have searched for a solution. My only guess is that the program is pointing audio to the blackmagic intensity pro and not to my audio card. Any suggestions?

I talked to Blackmagic about this problem and was told that they could only guarantee audio/video sync if their output was used so their presets only let you do this. With the Decklink studio this is a bit of a pain if you are working in 5.1 as there are only 4 analogue outs, I had to build a rack of D to As to get my monitoring working.

  • Audio during calls

Hi, For the last few days (thinking about it, since I updated to iOS 6.0.1) I have been having a problem with the audio during calls. The sound keeps cutting out intermittently, so it sounds like I only hear every other word from the person I'm talking to. It only seems to happen when I call someone, not when I receive calls. Any advice would be helpful, thank you x

just did hard restart still no fix
