Audio echo during capture CS3

During capture I get this terrible audio echo.  If I go into the Windows mixer panel and set a slider called Premiere down to zero that will stop it.  But if I then wish to hear the audio (from Premiere) after the capture I have to turn it up again.  Sureley this is not the correct way to do it.
It seems as though the input audio is being monitored and the delayed Premiere output at the same time.  This will only happen when the capture screen is open.
Anyone any idea how to stop this without constantly playing with the mixer?
Very annoying.

Problem is only while the capture screen is being used. The delay is very pronounced.
So, your Captured footage does not exhibit this echo. Is that correct? Obviously, you have a latency issue. What are your Audio playback settings? I would also wonder about the Matrox card, as these have caused all sorts of Audio issues, though I do not recall any with Capture.
If the first statement is true, then your footage is clean and good, and all you have to do is adjust the necessary settings during Capture.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • How can I turn OFF audio monitoring during capture from tape?

FCP has a very useful check box that allows you to turn off audio monitoring during capture, so you can listen to other things whilst the batch captures.  Is there any way to do this in PP?  If not, how can I make a feature request?
    I'm using PP CS6.
    Thanks for any help.
    Dominic

The only other solution I can offer is to go to "edit" "preferences" then select "playback". Under playback set the default audio device to your capturing device instead of the adobe desktop audio. This will allow you capture but not have to listen to whats being captured. However once it's done capturing you'll have to set it back to adobe desktop audio otherwise you can't hear what you're editing in your timeline.
Other than that I'm out of ideas sorry.

  • Multibridge Pro no audio monitoring during capture

I cannot get audio monitoring during capture, from betacam (component) or dv, I tried everything I can think of, does anybody else is running to the same problem?
(running mac pro, plenty of ram, Os version 10.5.2, decklink software 6.6.2, FCP 6.0.2)
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I tried to reboot the multibridge many but to no avail. Regarding the monitoring, I do not really care about monitoring the upload, but I want to be able to log the clip via final cut, and it should work, however it does not.
Also I wanted to know if users of the multibridge have issues with the video levels? I just switch from a HD Decklink card and the difference in level is not right, the multibridge is much to bright. Any suggestions?

  • Video preview during capture CS3

Video preview during capture is not working even though settings are at preview video and audio during capture.
The work around seems to be to go ahead record anyway (red button) then it works after I paste the captured audio onto the timeline.
When pasting it to the timeline the video appears. The video appears during subsequent captures. It seems like a bug in CS3. This was not a problem with PP 1.5
    Thanks

these details will help us help you.

  • Turning OFF Audio Playback during capture?

When capturing a tape from my video camera in Premiere Pro, How do I turn off the audio playback while recording?
I want to record the audio and the video, but I don't want to hear the tape's audio playing back through my computer speakers while recording. The technician I spoke to over the phone was extremely unhelpful and suggested I simply mute my computer speakers if I don't want to hear it. What if I want to listen to music or am trying to watch another video file in a different program without having to hear the premiere pro audio blaring over it. Please someone tell me the rude technician I spoke to did not understand clearly what I was asking and if anyone knows how to accomplish this or can shed anymore light on the topic.
I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with an adobe tech support rep who took 40 minutes to correctly understand the issue I was calling for and then informed me that the functionality does not exist within the premiere pro software. Sorry if this comes off as a little edgy, but my tech "support" call was extremely frustrating and now to find that premiere pro wont let you listen to anything in any other program while recording seems a little rediculous.
    Thanks,

It is risky to run other applications while capturing footage.  May lead to dropped frames.  I have found that Premiere is a resource hog and more likely to have this problem than other capture programs.  Not that Premiere is a bad program for capture, but you might find an alternative that provides a better solution for your specific need.
It has been a few years since using Scenalyzer, but I always found that program to be extremely reliable and flexible.  And it has the capability of silencing the audio during capture.  Since you didn't say what format you are capturing I can't say whether Scenalyzer will work for you.  Check it out.
I don't think Harm was being condesending at all.  He is simply warning you about the potential problems your system may face by attempting to multi-task in the manner you describe.  It's up to you to decide if you want to follow the advice you seek here.
    Good luck

  • Audio Monitoring During Capture

I have a Mac Mini (2.66GHz; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD) with FCE installed. I can capture with no problem and have audio, too. The problem is that I can't hear the audio when I capture. I have done it before but I can not remember how/what to select to get this "turned on." Help!
    Thanks y'all!

    Tully,
You really couldn't have heard the audio +from FCE+ during capture. FCE has never done it. You may have heard the audio from the speaker in your camcorder, but not through FCE.
In your last post, however, you indicated that after capturing the clip you can't hear the audio. Is that the problem?

  • Audio preview during capture

    Hi
How do I get audiopreview during capture?
When I playback audio output works fine, during capture its off.
When I look in the Audio/Video Settings in the tab Capture Settings I can read in the right summary field that the speaker is off, how do I get this on?

HDV does not allow monitoring audio during capture.
If you are working with DV, there is a checkbox to turn it on. The location of the box varies with the version of FCP.
The simpler solution is to just to route the analog audio out from your deck or camera to a pair of speakers. This has the beauty of not adding to the processing overhead during capture.

  • Selecting audio channels during capturing

I am in the process of capturing a interview style documentary that was shot with a Panasonic AG-DVX100B. The interviews that were shot on location used a handheld wireless microphone connected to line 1. Normally, I would set the capture setup to only capture line 1 of the audio so that the built-in camera mic on line 2 would not be captured and create an echo. I would then capture the entire day's shoot into one clip. The shoot is about 45 minutes in total.
During this particular day's shoot we shot some footage in the car using only the built-in camera mic. The camera was still set to use the wireless receiver on line 1, so only line 2 has audio (from the camera mic). So as you can figure, when I captured my normal way with only line 1, there was no audio for the car scenes.
The audio from the car scene was recorded fine on line 2 so now I need to come up with a different process for capturing this show... and maybe reconsider the way way I capture all together. I have not started editing so it's okay to recapture at this point.
    My question is:
    1. Should I capture each of the three locations seperatly with different audio settings and do a batch capture? ie; Location 1 (line 1 for handheld mic) Car (line 2 for camera mic) and Location 2 (line 1 for handheld mic).
    2. Do I capture both line 1 and 2 into one 45 minute clip and select the audio channel that I want from within FCP?
    3. If answer 2 is the recommendation, how do I do that without having to deselect an audio channel in each edit in the timeline.
Thanks in advance for the assistance!

    go for option 2,
you can de-select the errant audio track from the source side when you create your sequence so you don't have to do it to all edits. thats one of the joys of editing!
you may find you have some good sound on the other mike though don't just throw it away
    best regards
    andy

  • CS4 Audio echoes while capturing

Hello, The audio sounds like an echo while I am capturing, the second voice is heard about 1 -  2 seconds later.  How can I get rid of this problem?  The recorded material does not have this problem.  Please help me get rid of the duplicate sound.  Thanks

There have been reports of a lot of issues with Audio and Matrox. Often, getting the latest Matrox driver will clear these up, but sometimes, that is not good enough.
    Good luck,

  • Audio low during Capture

Hi this may be a dumb or easy question, but I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out a fix. I capture video with good audio levels but when it is captured into FCP the levels are really low. Using gain to +12 does not help. Any suggestions? Thank you!

How do you know the audio was recorded with good levels to begin with? From the meters on your camcorder or through headphones?<</div>
I used both to determine the levels are good.
And how do you know the audio level is too low in FCP? How are you monitoring the audio out of FCP? What's the average level showing on FCP's audio meters?<</div>
I played the video back and listen through the computers speakers, I also look at the audio levels in FCP.
When playing back the tape in your deck or camcorder, do the meters show the same levels as FCP's meters when you play back the clip in the viewer or Timeline? If not, how did you capture the clip?<</div>
No the levels are higher on the deck. I used a DV deck directly into the Mac.

  • Audio pausing during capturing

I just posted this question, but posted it in the wrong topic...sorry.
    Here's my problem:
I will be capturing a clip and in the capture window, it will be playing and then the video will just pause for a second and then keep capturing. Usually I don't even notice it because I am watching my monitor and nothing happens there.
When I put the clip in my timeline and play, it comes to the spot where the video paused and then the audio will be off from that point on and get progressively worse. even if I put a clip I captured without the pause, the audio is still off.
For example, I have a two hour timeline with many different sequences from different projects. Sequence A, B, C, D, and, E were all captured at different times and only sequence B was the one that had the video pause. If I place the sequences in alphabetical order, A will be fine, but B (at the point of pause), C, D, and E will all have audio out of sync.
I am thinking this might be a quicktime conflict? I am running OSX 10.3.9, and use FCO 4.5 and have Quicktime 7 downloaded. I was told that I should have QT 6.6 for FCP 4.5.
Now, I have been trying to reinstall Quicktime 6.5.2, but once the installer program asks me where I want to put it, it won't let me click on my hard drive. It says I don't have an appropriate version on Quicktime on the drive. So I went and downloaded 7 again and it still won't let me reinstall 6.5.
So I guess my question(s) are, why is my capture pausing or stuttering, and then why can't I reinstall QT 6.5.2?
Thanks for your time and help!!

    jim,
thanks for the reply. I will check out the QT info...
as far as my hiccup, I use a Panasonic AG-DV2000 deck and a Panasonic AG-DVC200 camera. My scratch disk is set to my third hard drive designated to just my projects and it had 40 gb left. It isn't a timecode break in the tape or dust/glitch on the tape or deck. The tape plays fine, it is in the computer that this happens.
This hasn't always happend to me. Could it be that I have QT 7 instead of 6.5? This is so frustrating because it doesn't happen every time (but most of the time).
    thanks for your time,

  • Missing Audio Playback During Capture?

I'd really like to know why the audio won't play while I'm trying to capture.

There are several things you need to check before capturing. You need to change setting from capture window. Go to capture window Setting Tab and click edit. Popup window will appear, Choose DV if you are Capturing DV Tape, Choose HDV if you are Capturing HDV Tape. If you are capturing through video editing card like BlackMagic, Matrox & AJA select that one. Remember if you are capturing using one of these cards you won't listen audio through PC speakers, you need to connect external breakout cable audio to speaker. If no audio, go to premiere edit menu and then audio hardware and select default audio device to built-in audio driver or video capture Card driver. I hope this may help you.

  • Audio playthrough via capture window

How to set Audio playthrough during capture previewing? I want to hear the audio as I preview etc.
It doesn't appear to be in any of the Preferences settings I can find...
    FCP HD 3.0
    Thanks

    William,
Can't be done. And as odd as that sounds (since iMovie can) it's to do with the way FCE captures material. It captures the audio separately where as iMovie captures it all in one muxed file (hence why you can monitor it in iMovie).
It makes the audio easier to work with in FCE as it's already on a separate track, whereas in iMovie you have to extract audio to do any processing to it.
The only way to monitor during capture is by plugging some headphones into your camera.

  • Unable to monitor audio during capture

I'm using FCP6 to capture footage shot with a JVC GY-HD100U at HDV 720p24. I'm using a JVC BR-HD50 deck to capture from, connected to my MacPro 3 GHz quad via firewire.
In the Audio/Video Setting dialog box, the Sequence Preset is "HDV 720P24". My Capture Preset is "HDV", Device Control Preset "HDV FireWire". Video Playback shows "[Missing] Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)" and offers only the options of None and Digital Cinema Desktop Preview–Main as alternate choices. Both HDV options are greyed out. The Audio Playback option is set to Default.
With this setup, controlling the deck remotely from the capture window, I get video but no audio. The only audio I get is when the deck is connected to my video monitor and I use it to monitor the output of the deck. The audio is there when I play back the clips after capture but I cannot monitor the sound with the computer's speakers. If I go to the A/V Devices tab, under Video, it shows the same "[Missing] Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480) with the same choices described above, and the Options button next to it doesn't do anything.
Can anyone think of anything I've missed in the initial setup?

    Keith,
For whatever reason (perhaps the intense processor needs) HDV does not allow you to monitor your audio during capture. The computer just will not do it. What I have done, if I really want to hear what's happening durning capture, is plug my speakers into the headphone jack of my XL H1. Due to the processing that's going on, the audio "lags" behind the video by a couple of seconds.
I'm pretty sure this is not a setup problem, but just a limitation due to the nature of your format.
    Hope that helps!
