Audio Editor

Is there an audio editor on the Mac like Wave Lab or Sound Forge? There only seems to be some free editors that don't seem to have all of the "bells and whistles" of the two big editors.
Thanks

Hi Jamie,
You could try Bias Peak.
Version 6 will be released soon!
I use 5.2 and I love it.
BTW It is Intel and Leopard compatible

  • Logic Pro X help: Track/File menu not showing up in audio editor. How to fix?

    Hello,
I am a amature musician that has been using logic pro for a little while now. I recently tried to use the time and pitch machine to stretch a sample to my project length. I open up the audio editor and behold! No file menu. I have looked through all the mues and I cant seem to find it anywhere.
Has anyone experienced this problem and do they know how to fix it?
    Thank you

You are in Track view, where you need to be in File view. Those tabs are just outside of your screenshot, it seems. You must have either an enormous screen or a big screen resolution.
As KC said, flex is a more versatile tool, but if you have a set workflow, then the T&P machine is still there.

  • Audio Editor does not open in Captivate 6

Unfortunately when I try to open the Audio Editor nothing opens but I have to use the Esc key to move on (as if it's open but it's really not open).  I've tried opening from the Timeline (double clicking audio or right-click Edit...) and from the Advanced Audio Management screen, the window is just not there.  I looked up this topic and it seems there was this same issue with Captivate 4 and the solution was to find the Application Data folder and remove a .dat file.  I am not a system admin on this computer so I cannot access this file.  Please help me to find another solution community.  Thanks

    Hello There,
    Please try this:
    Close Captivate First.
    For Windows 7
Please go to C:> users> current User>  App data (hidden Folder) > Adobe> Captivate 6.0 > rename this folder to oldCaptivate 6.0
    For Windows XP
    Please go to C:>
    C:\Documents and Settings>Current User>Local Settings>Application Data>Adobe>Captivate 6.0 rename this folder to oldCaptivate 6.0
    Then launch Captivate
Note: make sure that Captivate 6.0 folder shold not be empty
Accessing this folder and renaming, does not require Admin Rights.
    Thanks.

  • Disconneting Audio editor bug

If you try to open Audio editor as separate window, by dragging its title-you  newer know, what will be opened. Sometimes right, sometimes nothing, sometimes previous track.

He.. that really depends on what you like to do!
1: It's Better  that Avid Media Composer (as of FCPX 10.0.7 / MC 6.5.2)
2: It's Not as good as Logic Studio or Pro Tools .. ;-)
3: it does have a few great audio tools/effects, and you can do pretty much on the timeline with each track.
One example: Working with MultiCam content
In FCPX, you can simply enable all the audio tracks from each camera in your MC clip, and mix those.
In Avid MC, it's a manual Sync to get more than one Cams audio at any given time...

  • Captivate 4 audio editor not functioning

I've noticed lots of audio issues for Captivate 4 on the user
forums (many of which I've also had), but here's one I haven't seen
yet. I've managed to get the audio import and text-to-speech
features functioning correctly on my Vista 64-bit machine, but now
when I try to edit any of the audio files in my library using
Right-click > Edit in Captivate or the Edit button in the Slide
Properties > Audio dialog, the audio editor doesn't appear.
I am running Captivate 4 in administrator mode.
Another issue that I'm sure is related is I can't manipulate
the timing of the Closed Captioning. If I have four separate notes
on a slide, the last note displays in the Closed Caption window
during playback for the duration of the slide. Using the Closed
Captioning dialog doesn't help ... I can't preview the audio file,
and therefore I can't manually add captions at different points
during audio playback. This applies to both text-to-speech audio
files and imported audio files. Haven't tried yet with recorded
    audio.
A little background: in order to import or generate audio at
all, I had to run the regsvr32 NSAudio.dll fix mentioned elsewhere
in the forum. This worked on my Vista machine (though not on my XP
    machine after repeated tries).
In the forums and in my communications with Adobe staff I
haven't been able to find any rhyme or reason for the different
audio issues, and why the NSAudio.dll fix works in some cases and
not in others. Adobe Captivate team, can we get a patch or a
knowledge base article that addresses these issues??
    Please???

    Hi there
While the blog title mentions Windows XP, others have reported success by following what is outlined on Vista machines. Please give that a try.

  • Audio Editor for the Mac?

I'm looking for an audio editing program for Leopard. Something like Adobe Audition or Adobe Soundbooth only not as expensive. I want to be able to edit radio station recordings to take out certain songs and put each song in a separate MP3 file. What would posters here recommend or should I be posting this on a different forum?

  • Audio editor won't open in Captivate 4

I can't get my audio editor to open up in Captivate 4.  I imported some audio on the first slide, with the intention of having it play over the next four slides.  When I imported it into the presentation, I did get a prompt asking me if I wanted to break it up over several slides, I choose that option and then nothing.  I tried then to open up the Audio editor on its own and nothing.  It wouldn't open.  Could this be another Vista 64 bit issue?  Please advise, I'm really pulling my hair out over here.

    MY SOLUTION!!
I was having the exact problem and I promised that if I found a solution to my problem I would come back and share my solution.  Unfortunately I can't tell you if all of these things that I did were needed.  But I can tell you the order that I did them in and after doing which one that the problem went away.  The truth is after each one some functionality was returned.  The first thing I did was to install the "New" captivate 4 update patch. located here http://www.adobe.com/support/captivate/downloads.html
After doing that my audio sound quality improved greatly and I was able to use the audio <play> and <stop> buttons on the slides and in the properties tab.  Before this when I press them I could not hear the audio I had recorded.  I could only hear it during project preview. But, I still could not launch the audio editor.  I could record and hear the play back but I could not launch the editor to do edits.  When I clicked on audio edit Nothing happened.
The next thing I did was try the fix that was suggested for those running XP even though I am running Vista.  It is a registry fix so I figured if there was a registry problem with Vista it would work just as well on Vista. This fix is located here: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/adobe_captivate_4_installation.html
But while that did allow he to feel comfortable knowing my registry wasn't the problem it "Didn't" fix the audio editor not launching problem.  In short I still couldn't get the editor to come up.  Pressing the edit botton had no effect at all. (NOTE:  Make sure you do this all as the Admin)
FINALLY!!   I came across a post from a user "commando dhruv"  who wrote:
    Hi,
Try  to delete this file :-
    C:\Documents and  Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe  Captivate\captivate_v30.dat
This will clear all the UI location/size  preferences. Now when you start captivate it start afresh.
    Might  do the trick.
And since my OS is Vista not XP and I using Captivate 4 not 3  I went to c:\user\<username>\appdata\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Captivate and deleted the cativate_v40.dat file and WOW!!!!!! it WORKED.
(besure to unhidden the hidden files and folders or you won't be able to see the appdata folder.  Hope you have the luck that I did.

  • How can I close the audio editor

It is W - but you must have at least one audio region selected to open it, otherwise nothing happens. But it ALWAYS closes it (which is what you asked).

  • Audio editor not working in Cap 4

Until recently, everything was working fine.  A few days ago, the audio editor started getting flakey - stopping the playback before the end, Now it doesn't play back at all.  The audio plays fine in the preview and published version.  It seems to a specific project, but the others are still flakey as well.
Needless to say, I'm on an urgent deadline - that's when these things happen.  I'm trying to avoid exporting to Audacity to edit, because it's a pain to import it again.
Should I reinstall Captivate 4?  Any other suggestions?

    Hi there,
I would recommend that you start by making sure you have Captivate 4.0.1 installed (Build 1658) You can check this by carrying out the following steps:
    1. Open Adobe Captivate
    2. Choose Help > Updates...
If that doesn't solve the problem and you are using Windows XP then you might also want to take a look at the web address I have included below. It is possible that your Windows Registry is corrupt or has incorrect permissions.

  • No keyframes menu in audio editor ?

    Hi,
Is it normal that i have no dashes near audio file opened in audio editor in the timeline ? I see the audio file in timeline, can move it, reduce, modifying speed, but totally unable to place a keyframe ! I tried with mp3 and wav files.
Is it a bug ? Or an option to activate ? Or some restrictions ?
    Thx
    Z.

You need to double-click on the line to add keyframes.

  • Presenter 6.0 Audio Editor Problem

It appears that the new version of Breeze - Presenter 6.0 has
restricted the audio editor window to a fixed size. You can't grab
a corner of the window and expand it as was possible in the
    previous version.
When doing a great deal of audio editting, having the window
confined to such a small size is a real pain.
    Why was this necessary?
Had I known of this restriction I doubt I would have executed
    the upgrade.

    Thanks guys for your input
I finally realised the update did something to my TV when I tried to switch back to a normal DTV channel. Turning the TV on and off wasn't enough - it needed to be turned off at the power point and have the hdmi cables reconnected one by one.
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

  • Cut audio from a video file and edit in an audio editor?

Using Pre 9 and a Nikon D7000 video file: Is it possible to cut the audio portion of a movie clip (where the audio was recorded in the camera and is part of the import), edit in an audio editor (I like Sony Sound Forge Studio), then paste it back into the clip?

I use Steve's method all of the time, and edit the Audio output in Adobe Audition. You will want to Export/Share to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and keep that format both going and coming back into PrE. Remember that you will be working with an Audio file, that is the full (or almost) Duration of the Timeline. When you Import that edited Audio file, give the program a few moments to Conform that newly Imported PCM/WAV for editing. I suggest not touching the computer, until Conforming has completed 100%, and the little progress bar in the lower-right of the GUI has disappeared. If the Imported Audio file is short, and your computer is fast, you might not even see that progress bar, but the Conforming has taken place, just the same.
I like to keep the original Audio on its Audio Track(s), and just use Window>Audio Mixer to Mute that/those Track(s), leaving only my edited Audio on its own Track un-Muted. This is a "fail-safe," just in case I change my mind along the way, and wish to revert to the original Audio for some reason. It is much easier to Mute-Unmute, than to gather up all of that original Audio again.
    Good luck, and happy editing,
    Hunt

  • What audio editor lets you select a type of sound to remove (e.g. hiss)?

Hi all, I'm new here and am just in the process of abandoning Windows in favour of a Mac. (I grew up on an Apple ][e and the first Mac FWIW!)
I am used to Sony Sound Forge and other PC audio editors, and need to choose my program of choice on the Macbook Pro.
There is one killer feature I need. It's kinda hard to describe, but basically it lets you select a region of audio that you want to 'memorise', and it will then remove any audio that fits its frequency, from the rest of the track. E.g. you can select hiss from a blank part of a track you recorded from an old cassette, and it will remove that hiss from the entire track.
Is there a (preferably freeware) audio editor that has this specific feature?
    Many thanks!

    Hi //eBoy,
I've never heard of any program that could memorize a sound and then remove that sound from another recording. Sound is too variable to be able to exactly match the frequency, amplitude, phase and harmonics of a "noise" to invert it and cancel that same "sounding" noise somewhere else.
Searching here for "remove hiss" the best suggestion appears to be lowering the undesired frequency with a band-stop filter (band equalizer), but of course, if there were any desired sounds with that same frequency, they would be attenuated too.

  • Audio editor plugin for logic 9?

    Hi,
I've started to use Logic's audio editor and after alot of use finding it slow and cumbersome. Its good for engineers but not musicians. It seems tedious just to cut and slice a track around and move add effects. Like say you want to up the gain of a section you highlight it go to gain but can't seem to listen to the track and hear the difference you make as you up the gain. You have to change the gain process it then listen to it if your not happy undo and do it again.
You can do all the above very easy in Cubase, Cakewalk sonar and adobe sound booth. I'm wondering if I've missed something? If not is there a plugin you can get that will make this easy to do etc or is it to maybe start looking at another program?
    Cheers
    Joe

I know the Waveform editor leaves a bit to be desired, and I personally tend to use it as little as possible.
But you can raise and lower the gain of a region very simply in the arrange window, select the region you wish to alter and go to the inspector on the top left of the arrange window. You will see a "Gain" entry there, click on the number and drag up or down to raise or lower the gain of that region.
    Just thought this might help.
