Audio effects and transitions reference

The help file says:
"Exponential Fade transition
Exponential Fade fades out the first clip over a smooth logarithmic curve while fading up the second clip, also over a smooth logarithmic curve."
Three comments:
1) The description is nearly identical to the Constant Power transition description.
2) When Iistening to the Exponential Fade transition, the audio drops to near silence at the edit point. Then climbs back up. Sort of like a Dip to Black video transition.
3) The thumbnail in the Effect Controls Panel shows a Constant Gain transition.

Can someone help me with one of these questions?

1. Dont know excactly what you want.
2. Filmflash transition is not default in Premiere. BCC has it for AE.

Anyone suggest a good package for effects and add-ons? I love iMovie's usability but it doesn't stack up against Pinnacle Studio with effects, etc.
I know Slick Transitions is out there...but any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Blurry Ken Burns effect and transitions problem in IPhoto6

I've never seen an answer for these problems, so i'm hoping someone can help. Whenever I use the Ken Burns effect (both the auto and when i do it manually) the photos are very blurry. I have tried large hig resolution photo's as well as lower es. Same result. I thought it might be proessing power or a graphics card issue, but even if i export it to Quicktime or IDVD it's the same blurriness. Is there a setting I need to change? Is my current set up just not capable of utilizing this?
Second problem is transitions. If I do different transitions between slide they frequently will be wrong. Mostly they default to dissolve. If I begin with say Mosiaic, it will work fine until i switch to dissolve, and then it will stay on dissolve, no matter what I change it to. Any help?
Sorry for two seemingly different issues, but I'm trying to do both at once.

Excellent. The generator suggestions worked like a charm. Just curious. What did you mean by adjustment layer. Surely it's something simple, but forgive me for not knowing.

There are a number of companies out there that make plugins - just do a Google search for them.
In the meantime how does a hundred FREE effects, transitions and generators sound?

Though it says FCPro they all work with FCE. Each site has at least one free plugin amongst numerous commercial ones and some sites have ten or more.

IMovie 09 Effects and Transitions

I have version 9 (or so it says, but when I look at the actual version number, it says 8 - SO confusing!) and I am wondering if there are any more transitions and effects that can be downloaded. Does anyone know?
I am also wondering if there is a good web site where I can go to learn how to use the transitions and effects that already exist?
I have experimented with what they can in their "canned" state but I am sure there are other things. Just a few days ago I learned about green screen and I am presently reading about cutaway.
It seems iMovie doesn't allow you to do too much until you learn to use these features - but I can't find anywhere for learning Of course, there are many videos on YouTube but filtering out the good ones takes an eternity!
Any advice much appreciated

Keep iMovie HD if you get iMovie 09.
They are very different, some good features with both.
iMovie 09 has no 3rd party plugins only what it comes with.

Premiere 2014.1: glitches in effects and transitions

It's been a while since i used effects like Twixtor, Sapphire's transitions, NewBlue ColorFast, Boris FX and Neatvideo Reduce Noise.
But all of them work improperly in 2014.1 version of Premiere. After short period of usage, some of them start to produce blue, sort of inverted glitches (like s_FilmRoll transition by Sapphire and NewBlue ColorFast). Also Twixtor 6.1 effect fails most of renders returning "Error Compiling movie: unknown error". Also Boris FX Pixel Fixer returns Bfx Error 25 very often.
There is something terribly wrong with 2014.1 version. Checked on 3 completely different Windows 8 machines, and all of them share the same problems. Tried to install CC (non 2014) version - same plugins work OK there.
Glitches happen more likely if you switch playback/paused resolution with applied effects

We open a new project for example, When we click on effects we get the
message that Premier needs to close.
I found a work around which is even more baffling. When I logged in as
administrator the program worked fine. I created a new identity for this
user and it works fine. But when we log in as the old user the problem
exists.
I reloaded everything this morning and so far today everything is OK.
Mystifying.

Media offline and loss of effects and transitions

I have been using Premier Pro CS3 for a couple of years with an XP operating system. Most of the time I haven't had to many unusual things happening. But recently I have done some major projects and after I rendered them and then closed Premiere Pro and opened it the next day, nothing is rendered and the tranistions and any effects I may have added are no longer there and in some cases I see the "media offline" screen. I did find a work around thru the internet and some forums and that was to select all the files and move them a few frames then move them back. Everything works fine then except now I have to render everything again. My question is I recently started capturing using the detect scenes and I end up with quite a few clips whereas before I would just make one clip and cut out the sections I need. All the files are on my harddrive on the computer nothing external. Is it because I'm using detect scenes and I have so many short clips and that's the reason I have to move all the files and re-render. I called Adobe and they wouldn't give me any answers as I'm using CS3 they kept telling me to upgrade to CS5. Anyone have this type of problem and if so is there something I can do other than move all the clips and re-render? It makes me very nervous to be moving all the clips and put them back even if it's only a couple of frames. Any help would be appreciated. I do plan to upgrade to CS4 but want to know if I should quit using the detect scenes option when capturing. The only thing I do, do is to put all the clips into seperate bins in the project window. something in the original project you created and the media you imported is saying, " The stuff is located HERE...and it's not finding the stuff THERE...." or you actually chose to use the media offline ( unlikely ).
You did SOMETHING somewhere along the way to confuse the program about where the stuff is located....
I don't use CS3 to capture stuff but use ScLive ( for sd work , not hd ) , and it is set up to make a clip for every time it sees the timecode indicate the camera was shut off and turned on ( scene detect on )....
That gives me a lot of clips in the folder I selected to capture to.
When I import those clips to a project ( usually in the same folder structure so I dont get confused where things are )..I then LEAVE the assets there and dont move them ....or the program won't be able to find them properly ( the link is lost if you move the stuff )...and it then is either prompting me where it is or it is seen as offline ( If I choose to ignore prompt to find it )...

Almost all of my effects and transitions are not working on my fcpx trial

i don't know what happened or how to fix it, its getting extremely annoying now. it has happened before then i fixed it and i down really know how i just turned off my computer and it worked then a few days later i turned it off and turned it on it wasn't working and i tried that a few times to see if i could get it working its not doing the trick! it would be GREATLY appreciated if someone would help me!

I have a full version with several 3rd party plugins (like FxFactory) installed. None of the 3rd party plug-ins are affected and not all of the standard effects are affected. A search of the problem has revealed others have had this same issue in the past but no remedies other than a full drive wipe and reinstall have come back as effective. I am preparing to do this but I'd rather not as I'm in the middle of 2 large projects.

Copy Audio Filters and animation

I'm laying a music clip over a section of my movie. While sections of the clip may be revised by my composer from time to time, the audio effects I'm applying, and their timing, will NOT be.
Is there a way to either
a) replace the audio in a clip, maintaining the effects and audio animation, or...
b) copy and paste audio effects and animation from one clip to another.
I'm working in FCPX on a canister tower running Yosemite.

Copy the audio clip that's in the timeline. Use the replace function to replace it, and then select the new clip and use Paste Attributes (Shift-Cmd-V) and select the items you want to put them back onto the clip.

Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. I have FCE 4.0.1 and running OS x 10.7.5 when i burn my movie the audio from my movie clips don't come through . My Sound effects and music can be heard. I export to Quicktime movie, make it self contained then open IDVD for an intro and burn it.

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

Copy and paste audio clip and maintain effects and tweaks?

I created a track on the iPad and transferred successfully to the desktop.
I then used Melodyne to clean up the vocal track. Some of the vocal timing was off so i used flex time editing to straighten it out. It's a piece I'd like to loop throughout.
When I copy and paste the pasted clip loses all the effects and edits and is back to the raw vocal track.
Is there a way to copy and paste and maintain all of those tweaks?

I did a complicated mix on one long background music track and was not looking forward to doing that remix because of various minor music changes made by the musician scattered throughout that long track.
Your Alt (for replace solution) worked perfectly and saved me a ton of time.
The fact that Copy attributes for Audio doesn't work for copying audio keyframes is another reason do do audio mixes using the Mixer instead of using keyframes to adjust volume.

Keynote 3.02 audio and transitions

Hello,
I have read about audio problems in Keynote when exporting to QT, but I have not seen anyone write about the problem I experienced.
In my presentation, I have several slides that play audio files of varying lengths - 30 sec, 45 sec, etc. I have the slides set to delay the transition to the next slide until the audio file is done playing. For example, on the slide with the 30 sec AIF, I set the slide to delay the transition for 32 seconds. Everything works great in Keynote. The timings are perfect. But when I export the presentation as a QT .mov, extra time is placed on those slides - a lot of extra time! I think it may be playing the 30 sec audio file, and then starting the 32 second delay, so the slide sits there on the screen for an extra 32 seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a bug, or am I supposed to know that there are different "rules" when exporting to QT? I can't find anything about this in the manual.

This is a known problem with Keynote. Version 3.0.2 is not able to hold a transition until the end of a movie when presenting live, so the workaround is to place a build approximately equivalent in length to the audio or video.
As you've seen, the problem comes when you export to QuickTime as that delay is in ADDITION to the content. The only workaround is to build two presentations, one with the delay built in for live presentations and another with no delays that's intended for QuickTime export. If you keep these two in sync, then you always have a presentation ready whether you're doing it live or needing to export it to QuickTime.

Soundbooth CS5: Effects and/or rack presets for 5.1 audio?

Are there any Soundbooth CS5 effects and/or rack presets (either Adobe or third-party) for working with 5.1 audio? I have effects and presets for both mono and stereo, but none show up for 5.1 files.

I understand, but at least with stereo files I can add an EQ, compressor, etc. that applies to all (both) channels. Is there not a similar capability for 5.1 files? I don't so much need per-channel editing (I can always split the channels out to separate files in that case), but basic EQ/compression is really what I'm looking for.
