Audio Effects Noise Reducer

I am trying to apply the audio effects noise reducer to the selected audio. I want the roise reduction to be "more". When I select the audio and click "preview" at the highest setting, all sounds good. When I click "apply", the indicator jumps back to the middle setting (between "less" and "more"). Can't get it to apply at the setting I want. I really need noise reduction as the original audio was inputted into the microphone jack rather than the audio jack and overloaded the circuitry and caused severe distortion.

the poor-man's-Soap is Audacity, which is here, for free: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
which offers a 'learn and erase' mode for reducing hummmzzz and bzzzz too ...
aside, in the early 80ies, we produced simple no-vocal-versions of popular music, by simply switching the polarity of one stereo channel... the singer is mostly in the middle, so 'interference' of the two identical signals from both channles 'erased' the singer.. ehm, his voice... ehm, the recording of the voice..

  • How to remove unwanted audio using audio effects?

The audio effects in question: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7d80a .html
I've been meaning to learn how to do this for a while so I thought I'd get started.
I want to learn how to clean up my audio. I don't have very professional audio gear, I'm using a Rode videomic pro on a canon 60D so the quality isn't the best but it's ok for now. There is a lot I want to learn but right now there are 2 things on my mind:
    1. I have a deadcat wind muff on my rode but still when the wind hits it I get this unwanted wind sound on my soundtrack. I know there has to be a way to remove or reduce this somehow using the audio effects.
    2. Slight white noise over my audio. I know this is a result of recording directly from my camera but there has to be a way to reduce the white noise in order to get clearer audio. I've seen people recording right out of their camera and they have way better results than me.

I know there has to be a way to remove [wind noise]
    There is.  It's called ADR.
there has to be a way to reduce the white noise
    There is.  Better equipment.
Sorry but, I think you may be expecting to much of your post production tools.

  • Newblue Noise Reducer Offline in Premiere Elements 12

I've been using the Newblue Noise Reducer in Premiere Elements 12, but it's all the sudden gone offline. Does anyone know how I get it back? When I open a new project, the effect won't even show up under audio effects anymore, and when I open a project that I previously used it in, it says it's "Offline (filter unavailable)."

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running?
    For now, I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Do you have Premiere Elements 12 installed to the default Local Disk C location?
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Can you find the NewBlue Noise Reducer AB.dll at the end of the path in the scrubbers Folder?
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12
    Plug-ins
    Common
    VST Plugins
    NewBlue FX
    scrubbers
    Let us start with
    1. Delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file found
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not resolve the problem, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can see the complete path cited.
Please let us know the outcome from that. Then we can decide what next which might include an program uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts), and then the reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled. Please confirm if any other fx Effect is also missing.

  • Audio Effects delay kicking in after each clip

    Hello,
I am using DeNoiser and NewBlue Noise Reducer to eliminate some hiss I have on my audio. Though the effects work to improve the sound, it takes about 2 seconds for the effects to kick in, and this happens with each clip. In other words, the hiss is present for about 2 seconds into each new clip before it fades away. I normally use Transition effects too, of course, but I even tested some clips without the Transitions and it still happened.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I was just about to call it a day when I saw your post. I will comment about it further tomorrow, but for now.
I wanted to get a handle on the properties of what you were importing into Premiere Elements, such as, video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, file extension, audio channels (2 or 5.1 channel), etc.
The project preset can have its impact on results so best we rule that factor in or out. What is the origin of this hiss noise? At first I thought that you might be recording to tape. What are they, just miscellaneous noises from the use of the external microphone?
Audacity Noise Removal might be worthwhile after all. Worth a try.
The only thing going into Audacity is the audio portion of the file. You can right click the file on the Premiere Elements Timeline and select Delete Video and then export the file (Publish+Share/Computer/Audio) for import into Audacity. From Audacity you can export it out as mp3 or wav for import back into Premiere Elements.
    More on that tomorrow.
We will be watching for your progress.

  • Ability to noise reduce/export & edit the rawaudio.stream0 file

I love VC3. Here is something I would like to have more control over.
I have a noticable buzz in the audio recorded on VC3. It may be something in my evironment or my mic or whatever. The point is that I need to get rid of it. There are also times when I need to fix/adjust something in the recorded audio (not just a re-record of a section). We use Audition 1.5 to fix the audio in Premier before output. How can I edit the rawaudio in VC3 before publishing? I need a workflow.
Workaround: I can publish an .avi and open it in Audition and noise reduce it and then export it again as .avi, but this is alot of work and causes other complications. example - If I need flash video I have to re-import it into VC3 and then publish it again. If I want to use the web page generator, I have to jump throuh hoops to set te links up again. If I want to.... (I need to be able to edit the audio file before publishing).
Quick Fix - How about a standalone audio converter that will let me convert the rawaudio.stream0 file into .wav and back again after editing it? Is this file a proprietary format, or can I change the extension to something that Audition can read?
Again - I love the product. Thanks for considering this request.

  • Noise reducing headphones

Any recommendations for noise reducing headphones to use on BART train? Not surprising I have noted a wide-range in prices $35 up to $200+ for Bose or Etymotics. I think I should be able to find a suitable pair for under $80, but maybe not. Any first-hand experience will be appreciated. Thanks!

If you want noise isolation then you could try investigating canal earphones. For isolation, I have found them the most effective. The only problem is discomfort from having them inserted. Some people can't handle what are basically earplugs. I wear earplugs at work so I am used to plugs.
I am using Shure E2 earphones. In store they were $99, should be cheaper online.

You can do that in FCPX too, as all the things you cited are listed separately in the inspector.
Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. You select the other clips and paste effects. What do you think happens? The effect is applied, but the color correction is applied as well, only it's switched off as it was in the first clip, so all the color correction on the other clips is lost. Fun, eh?
I'll try to replicate your gotcha - but no, that doesn't sound like fun at all!

  • How do I make a 'favorite' folder for audio effects ?

In the effects browser, the list of effects is very long, and the classification is not at all user-friendly. How could I group the effects I use often in a folder ?

If you stay with JUST the Logic effects, MOST (if not all) have a Preset drop down menu (I haven't used them all, so I can't say for 100% sure). At the very bottom of the drop down menu is an option to Save Preset. This is a feature I wish was on ALL effects in FCPX... it's been suggested to Apple a couple of times by me... apparently it's not a reasonable enough request... but that's how it is.
    Anyway...
When you go into Audio effects, for each type of effect (distortion, echo, eq, etc...) when you highlight the type, in the right column the effects for that category appear. There are THREE sections (usually... unless you have other 3rd party Logic effects or AU plugins and you'll have others like Native Instruments or Blue Cat Audio, etc., and that will also depend on the categories the 3rd party effects fall in): the top section is usually "Final Cut". If you scan down the list there is a gray line and a label for the next section of effects, usually "Logic".  And scanning further down the list you get to "Mac OS X". The Final Cut and Mac OS X effects are the typical kind of cr*p you find in Garageband: hard to understand and harder to use if you wander far from the presets - that and no graphical interfaces.  The Logic effects on the other hand chew bubble gum and kick *** -- and they're fresh out of bubble gum. All of them sport a graphical interface (if you click on the little "eq icon"). Once you set your parameters to your liking, you can save your preset. It will show up in the Preset drop down menu any time you add that effect to any clip in the future.
We seriously NEED this feature for ALL effects Apple!!!!!!! All you readers, please send in a request/feedback.

  • Premiere CS4 Audio Effects Only Work On Latter Half Of Each Audio Clip

I'm currently working with Premiere CS4 on a Windows 7 PC and running into some audio issues when exporting the video. In the timeline when I playback the preview the audio sounds fine but when I export it the audio effects I applied in Premiere only work half the time. Each audio clip will play in it's raw form for a few seconds and then halfway through playing the Premiere audio effects will turn on. I have two audio tracks in my timeline, one for music and the other for narration. There are 10 video tracks in total for various masks, overlays, title, etc.
The sequence has 18 audio clips in total and each one has a separate EQ, Highpass, Volume, and Denoiser effect on it (most are similar but are fine tuned for each clip). So far I've tried exporting as an AVI, MP4, and WMV but each has the same issue. I've also tried exporting with and without the "Use Preview Files" option on the Adobe Media Encoder to no avail.
Has anyone else ever encountered this type of issue before or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Posting for anyone else who comes across this issue:
I was able to fix this by taking all of my audio clips and nesting them in a new sequence, which was then moved to the main sequence. I kept all the effects on their individual clips.

  • What audio effect is used in this video?

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to achieve the audio effect used at the 9:00 mark in this video without recording it. I don't debate that I should be figuring this out myself, but I thought someone might be able to save me a bit of time.

If you think you know how to do it, I would appreciate you letting me know.
    Thanks

sounds like the same audio effect in most of the video. Try a really meaty analog wave and run it through some grungy effects. They are also applying some kind of wah wah to it....almost.

    ?HELP!?

Hmmm. You seem to have tried, without success, most if not all of the methods of resolving a Ken Burns black screen issue.
Some thoughts that have occurred to me:
    1. Perhaps your G4 500mhz Mac is not fast enough. I think that the minimum spec for iLife '06 is 733mhz. Might have nothing to do with this problem, but I just mention it.
    2. Are the sizes of your images too large, as can happen with some of these new high def cameras? iMovie has trouble working with very large images.
    3. Do you have any 3rd pary plug-ins, particularly in Quick Time, that could be causing a conflict?
    4. Do you have enough disk space for the project to operate?
    5. Have you done a recent Quick Time update? Some users have reported a problem with that.
    6. From your post, it appears that you have continuously worked within the same iMovie file that exhibits the Ken Burns problem. If this is true, try creating a new iMovie project and experimenting with a few clips to see if the problem persists in the new project.
Ken Burns issues can be very frustrating. I think that you will need to keep trying things until something works. Wish I could be more help, but perhaps some of the tech experts on this forum will have some workable suggestions.
There is an application called Photo to Movie that reputedly has a far better Ken Burns type of effect. If you can't resolve your problem, you might try downloading that app. I believe that it offers a demo download.
    Good luck.

  • Any way to remove "reverb" in recorded audio using audio effects?

I taped an interview using a lapel mic. On playback on camcorder as well as playing it in PE7, it sounds okay. When I take the file and played it in our church over our sound system (which is state of the art) The audio of the people speaking sounds as if they're in a barrel. I have a soundtrack playing in the background and it sounds great, it's just the audio of the speaker that sounds so awful. Our sound tech says it sounds that way because of the small area I recorded in and the echoing is in the original footage, and that it's magnified when played over a good sound system. Is there a way to fix this or at least minimize the echoing "reverb" sound using the audio effects? Thanks!

One of the suggestions via Ozpeter's links was to model the impulse response from speaker to microphone in the reverberant environment. This is roughly what Gloftis would have to do:
Put the speaker back in exactly the same position in the original room with the same lapel mic in exactly the same position. Add a small high quality microphone close to the lips of the speaker. It would have to be so close that the reverberation was negligible and positioned so that breath pops didn't occur. Then get the speaker to say or read a few minutes of speech, and record the output of both microphones simultaneously. From this, the room acoustic and lapel microphone response as a whole could be computed (a black box filter response). The inverse response then needs to be computed, and you hope that such a filter is stable (not guaranteed). Then pass the reverberant speech through this inverse filter and voilà!
Another solution suggested was expanding the low levels downwards. That is essentially what I suggested in my first post. Expansion should be less obtrusive than gating (hard on/off).
Finally, the most straight forward method, if practicable, is to re-record the voice material in a non-reverberant environment. He/she could listen to the original speech and read out the material in synchronism, with the same mannerisms, to preserve lip-synch.

  • Loudness Radar not an option in Audio Effects

I'm running the current version of Premiere Pro 6 and need to start monitoring loudness. I was under the impression from what I've been researching that Loudness Radar is
standard with Premiere Pro. But I don't see it as an option in my audio effects folder. Do I need to download, install or activate something to make it work?
Here is a screen grab of my Audio Effects.  Am I missing something?

    Thanks again JIm,
Last question on this. Should I be running a higher Mac OS to use CC. I update my laptop to MT Lion recently and just notice that the Application manager has the CC logo
and a different interface than my MacPro which is still running Snow Leopard. That interface still looks like the old version and I see no options to download CC (which I'm currently doing on my laptop).  Or do I just need to download an updated version of Application Manager?

  • Audio Effects not working in Premiere Elements 7

I am trying to apply some audio effects (DeNoiser, etc.) to the audio clips in my project, but when I select a clip and select and audio effect, I can't apply the effect.  They "apply" button is greyed out, and if I try to drag and drop the effect onto the clip I get the universal "no" symbol on the mouse cursor.
The audio clips are linked to video clips (footage from an HD camcorder that was imported into the project).  However, I also tried this with the audio and video unlinked, and the effects won't apply then, either.
    Can anyone help?

I have been reading your thread and its responses with interest.
What is the brand and model of the camcorder that you are using? And, what is the file extension for the video with this 5.1 channel sound. Is your video AVCHD or HDV?
    Some thoughts:
    1. Premiere Elements 7 File Menu/Export/Audio will not export the Timeline video as 5.1 channel sound to Audacity, rather Stereo (2 channel).
    2. I do not have an AVCHD file (or any file) with 5.1 channel sound. I have those that list 6 channel. I have found problems when I tried to export the audio from Premiere Elements when the file extension of the Timeline content was .m2ts versus .mts. For the audio derived from the .mts saved to Desktop..no problem for Audacity importing the export as .wav....for the audio derived from the .m2ts saved to Desktop, Audacity shutdown. In the latter case, Audacity seems to import the audio from the .m2ts saved to Desktop, IF the export from Premiere Elements is "Audio Interchange File Format" rather than .wav.
Also, if you have not found out already, regarding MP3 encoding Audacity, when you go to export as MP3 from Audacity, you may get the message "Audacity does not export MP3 files directly, but instead uses the freely available LAME library to handle MP3 fiel encoding."
I am looking forward to your results.
