Audio fading

I've loaded the audio into my dvd slideshow using my itunes library. Is there any way to make the songs fade into each other so that there's not silence between the tracks? I know how to do that on itunes, but it doesn't translate into idvd when I use my playlist there. Please help!

Ok Update
Just started new project. Small test one, added sample music track, faded it out by 3 secs at the end. Works fine.
Now my other project that I have been working two days on is 30 minutes long, with loads of clips that have been meticulously edited by way of video, but not audio, does not work.
I have no music added to it yet, but when I try, I add the itunes track, and Inspector it, choose manual Fade out by 3 seconds or something longer, and click done.
Then go to preview the end of that clip near the end of the music, and the music stops abruptly as if nothing has been changed.
Whats different about this project to the new one just created????
NOTHING
Someone must have some answers please, as its getting tedious and unless someone can tell me how to start a new project, and transfer ALL the above clips to it to start afresh, then I am going to have to wait for your guys help....
I thank you...

  • Disabling audio fading in iMovie '09

Whenever you drag in or split up a clip in iMovie '09, it automatically applies to a half-second fade-in and fade-out on the ends of the clip to the audio. I do editing that relies a lot on finesse, word splicing, etc. and it is annoying to have to ctrl-click each video or audio clip, go to audio settings, and click off the fading. Is there a way to make it default to having NO fading? (0.0 seconds). The lowest I seem to be able to make it as a default is 0.5.

If you have to do this to a lot of clips, you may be able to do this with copy/paste. I haven't tried it for the audio fade so you will have to test it. Try this:
    1) Select a clip. Open the inspector to the Audio Tab. Set to Manual and 0.00 fade.
    2) Select the same clip. Select EDIT/COPY (or right-click/COPY)
    3) Select EDIT/SELECT ALL
    4) Select EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS/AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS
    Worth a try.

  • Audio fading in on each slide - how do I stop this? HELP!

    Running CP8 on a windows 8 machine.
Audio sounds FINE in cp,  but then I preview or publish and view and suddenly the audio sounds like it is ramping up/ fading in on some slides.  I don't get what's going on.  There is no slide fade in, just the audio.  HELP!
The client is so not going to accept this and I don't have any idea how to fix it.
    Thanks.

  • Audio fading up and down

When I am playing track through Itunes my audio is fading up and down while playing it through my house amp. It use to work perfect before but don't know what's up. I did a upgrade that that my computer alerted me to do. Really need my music.

Are you sure you are posting in the right Forum? This is the Soundtrack Forum. It sounds like an iTunes problem you're having… in which case, you will get more & better answers posting over there.
(For what it's worth, this sounds like a problem with your audio system rather than iTunes. Does it affect other applications or devices, e.g., CD players?)

  • Audio fading in when course is on LMS

The audio for a course fades in at the beginning of each slide when course is mounted on an LMS.  When Previewing the course on my computer, the audio plays normally and there is no fade.
The course is a Cp 8 Responsive Project.
    Anyone ever seen/heard this before?
    Thanks in advance.

Solved it.  I was testing the course and clicking on the next button before the audio had finished playing.  When I let it play all the way through, the fading problem went away.

  • SoundStudio audio faded file not fading in exported QT file.

Since Keynote has no ability to manipulate audio very well, I went into Sound Studio and created the audio clip I needed with a 5 second end fade out. Saved the file and dropped it onto the audio holder area in Inspector. The file fades perfectly in SS, but when when exported to QT, the file just cuts abruptly with no fade.
I also noticed that when dragging a sound file off the audio holder box to the trash, then dragging a new file onto it, when exporting to QT I will frequently get two sound files, one over the other. Keynote doesn't seem to "trash" the file when it is dragged off the Inspector properly.
    Any ideas? TIA.

Jody, are the files being exported from Sound Studio regular MP3 or AIFF files? And do they fade properly in other applications (for example, if you use the preview pane in the Finder to play them, or drag them into iTunes)?
This issue seems to me more likely to be a Sound Studio problem than one involving Keynote. You might try using an application like the free Audacity to fade a test file, and see if that works in Keynote.
Although I don't know the application, my guess is that Sound Studio is somehow overlaying volume information on top of the raw sound files, information that is not getting exported to the final MP3/AIFF file.

  • Audio fading for small portions of movie

Hi. I'm brand new to iMovie08 and loved the previous version. I'm putting together a movie of multiple clips with a couple songs over the clips. Most of the sound on the movie clips is turned off so that only the song plays. Some parts though, I'd like to fade the song out, then back in so I can hear the clip sound well. I'm finding this hard to do as I'm used to the old iMovie where you can just drag the song in and out to fade it. How do I do this on the IMovie08? Seems more complicated...
    Thank you!

how do you turn off the actual sound from the video (iMovie 08). I would like only my background music to be heard.
Select the video clip in question, open the audio tool, and adjust the volume to zero.

  • ISight audio fading in Skype

Reading several posts on iSight audio in combination with Skype, I recognise my own problem.
I followed the systematic problem solving approach by EZJim ... but ... to no avail.
When several minutes into a Skype call with any user on any platform, my audio on the receiver side starts to sound metalic, fades in volume, and finally breaks up in pieces. This only happens on the receiver side, I scan still hear my buddy uninterrupted.
Hanging up en re-dialing "resets" the connection and we can talk for another cycle.
    I've tested:
    1) iSight performance: Ok
    2) OS maintenance: Ok
    3) Latest version Skype: Ok
    4) DSL connection: more than Ok
    5) Use iSight with iChat: fully functional
    6) use iSight as sound recorder: Ok
So I can only come to the conclusion it has to do with Skype.
In all other environments my AV capabilities work flawless.
But it has to be something on My Mac because my Skype buddies do not have the audio problems amongst them.
    Q: What next?
ps. I did post a support request at Skype ...

  • Audio fading out automatically

ipad 4 wifi/cellular iOS 8.2 audio fades automatically out on streaming facebook videos. Sound level drops to low level and can only be increased a little with manual control button (located near headphone Jack).

What you are seeing is not something that you are doing wrong.
Final Cut Pro displays audio fades logarithmically.
This is actually correct as audio fades are normally not linear.
Some editing packages dumb it down and display the fade as linear, even when that is not what is happening.
Adding the +3dB fade transition will force it to be linear by adding an "equal power ramp" to the fade.

  • Please Help! My transitions are fading too much audio out!

    Hello all,
I am still using the old iMovie 08. I am just making a simple video, but in certain trasitions btwn clips, the transition is cutting off too much of the audio at the end of the clip right b4 the transition begins. I have tried playing with the "set duration" function on the transition, but it is not working out properly, and doesnt chop exactly where you want it to b/c its trying to blend all the 3 pieces together so it looks like it averages them out, chopping out whatever amounts it wants from each of the 3 pieces. It basically makes it so you can't hear the last couple words from the speaker right as the transition is starting.
-Is there anyway to edit the transition properties and either turn off audio fading right b4 the transition -OR- to at least adjust down the amount of audio it cuts into at the end of my clip prior to the transition?
-Or is the only thing that u can edit on transitions is the "set duration"?    THANKS!!

It's regrettable that you deleted files without having backed them up first. The first thing you need to do is back up what's left of your data. You can do that with Time Machine or by other means, but you need an external hard drive to hold the data.
Whatever you did delete without backups is most likely gone forever. You could send your hard drive to a data-recovery firm, but the service will be very expensive and may not recover anything. The less you do with the computer before then, the better the chance of success.
The iPhoto library is corrupted and you won't be able to open it. You may be able to extract what's left of the images, but first you have to back up.

  • PCI-E Audio Sounds Terrible?

For years I have been using an X-Fi Platinum PCI card and have been very happy with it. This past August it died and I decided to replace it, and do away with my SLI rig. I purchased an EVGA GTX 760 4G FTW video card and a Recon 3D Fatality Champion sound card.
I installed both with no problems. When I went to listen to music with the new card, it sounded terrible. I opened up the included software to change some settings and it took forever to load. Once the software loaded, after making a few setting changes, it froze. After multiple uninstalls and reinstalls I still had the same problem. I contacted Creative Support, and after a few emails, and sending them info on my machine, I was told to try the Recon in a different slot. I tried every slot on my MOBO, and still had issues with audio fading in and out. Music and games both. The software was less buggy in the last slot I used, but the audio was not right. Also, when using my Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 speakers, the rear speakers were virtually non-existent. The last thing I tried with the card was to disable the onboard audio in my son's machine and install it in his machine. The software worked pretty good in his machine, but the audio sounded terrible, and was fading in and out like my machine even though his machine only has a 2.1 speaker setup.
At this point Creative created an RMA, and I sent the card back to them. While I was waiting to hear back from them, I found a used X-Fi Platinum on Ebay and purchased it. Sounds so much better than the Recon. I also purchased a new X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCIE card to install in my work computer.
Here's where the frustration set in. Before taking the Xtreme Audio card to work, I went through the same process on my son's machine to try out the card. Lo and behold, the audio was fading in and out, just like the Recon did. I took the Xtreme Audio card in to work and installed in my work computer. Guess what? Same audio issue. I have tried using Windows Media Player and WinAmp. Both had issues with the audio. I even installed Virtual XP and tried Music Match. Same problem. At work it is a 2.1 speaker setup using Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speakers.
At work, along with the company supplied PC, I also have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop with a X-Fi notebook card. It is my personal laptop, and it amazing how good the notebook card sounds. My ultimate goal is to get the sound on the company PC to be as good or better than the laptop, and to be able to bring the laptop home. So far, that hasn't happened.
Meanwhile Creative did replace the Recon, but I have not opened it at this point. It is sitting at work while I decide to either try it in the work PC, or just sell it on Ebay without opening it.
Is it possible that I just ended up buying 2 defective sound cards? I am really afraid to open up the new Recon and have the same issues. Is this an inherent problem with Win 7 and PCIE sound cards?
At this point I have no plans to install a PCIE sound card in my home machine because of the issues of 2 different sound cards between 3 different computers. I even bought another used X-Fi Platinum to have as a spare.
I thought maybe that since the Recon is a gaming card, that might explain why music sounds so bad. But why does the Xtreme Audio card do the same thing?

Any thoughts or help with this would be greatly appreciated.

The Recon3D cards are pretty terrible. Not sure why you didn't go with the Z or older X-Fi.
I switched from Audigy 2 to Recon3D and it was beyond meh. I actually thought onboard sounded better. I then grabbed a regular Z (not Zx or ZxR) after a couple of years of using onboard junk, and it was like having an Audigy 2 back in my rig - Just without all the problems such as pops and cracks during heavy load (such as recording gameplay with Fraps) which was the reason I got rid of it in the first place.
I'm more than happy with the Z, as long as I use the .16 drivers because the new ones are really messed up. I use pretty much the same EQ settings that I used with Audigy 2 and it sounds phenomenal.

  • IMovie moving audio clips when transitions are added

iMovie moving audio clips when transitions are addedI have some video clips that need simple fades to black added at the end. However, whenever I add the fade out transition, iMovie does something insane. Instead of the last two seconds of video fading to black and the last two seconds of audio fading out, it seems that a random two seconds of audio from elsewhere in the clip is tacked onto the end and faded. This problem is nuts and I am having no luck finding a solution. Does anyone have one? This has happened with other transitions, but I’d settle for just getting a fade to black to work properly. Is this only a problem with Intel machines?

The problem that you describe has come up frequently on this forum. There are lots of things people have tried, but no solution has been found, other than the workaround of extracting the audio, as Klaus 1 mentions, and manually adjusting the fade out. Some feel that it is an intel machine problem, but that is not clear.
For more information on this issue, try using the search function of this forum, typing in "audio echo with transitions", or some other appropriate search words. You might find of interest the information contained in the following post:

  • Audio distorted during fade in/fade out transitions

I'm using iMovie HD to edit an MP4 file. I've put fade in/fade out transitions at the beginning and end of the movie, but I notice that it either garbles the audio during these transitions or adds a loud clicking noise in place of the audio that should be there (i.e., the original audio fading in or out.)
Has anyone experienced this? Any idea how to work around the problem?
    Thanks.

    Maybe it is this?

  • Transition fade outs are picking up audio

Whenever I want to add a fade out to a movie clip, rather than the audio fading out with the picture, the audio for the duration of the transition is often a clip of the audio from that particular movie clip. I have tried trashing the p-list, and I have also tried erasing some of the problem footage and re-capturing it, but to no avail. This happens to at least I'd say 75% of my movie clips, and I can't seem to solve it. Sometimes the audio in the transition is audio from the very end of the clip I am fading out of (i.e. it loops it), and sometimes it's just from a random point somewhere in that particular clip, but then on a couple of occasions, the fade out is actually audio from a totally different clip.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in anticipation....

    Hi C
Just one thought: I do like this
    • select clip or clips before applying a transition so that they are selected
    • Up on Advance Menu - down to Extract audio
    • Now apply the transition after or between the clips
    • Now fix the audio by letting it fade out or as You like it

  • Bad sound if I watching movies

Hello, for last 2 weeks I have a problem with audio. For example:
I'm watching some movie or TV serie from my harddisk or from online website. Audio is OK but after 10-15 minutes audio faded out and it continues very silent.
    For vision:
If you plug some headphones into macbook, you set volume to higher and if you put headphones on the table, you hear sound very quietly. I hear movie/tv serie same after 10-15 minutes and I don't have connected any headphones.
Can anybody help me please? I tried to format disk and clean install mountain lion but it didn't help me.
BTW I'm using Logic Pro with external audio device Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 but if I watching movies I don't have connected audio device into my macbook.

bump. I think, there is problem with "equalizer". Sounds like sound without basses (only high frequencies)
