Audio Fails in Games since update to Lion

I'm running the most recent version of Lion to date on my iMac. Whenever I log into games, the audio fails either immediately or after a few moments. Specific games are Fallen Earth and Heroes of Newerth. Sound is fine elsewhere. I read on one of the game forums something about updated API with Lion being the issue, but I am clueless. Is there any help out there?

I did not notice the inter-channel level difference you speak of, but clearly something is not right
so who knows what the various impacts might be and how they might manifest themselves
in different setups ...

Hi all,
since updating to Lion my macbook has had the issue that when you play any kind of sound or video whether it be itunes or streaming online, the sound cuts in and out and video cuts in and out. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone have any suggestion to fix this problem?

Okay, so I've tried it while unplugging my laptop and using VLC Media Player instead and that seems to work. The only hangup I have while plugging it back in to charge is that I get tiling like what you see on a cable box.
Surely there has to be a way to where I can watch movies feasibly on my laptop without having to unplug it.

Since updating to Lion I can no longer screen share on Snow Leopard

I'm hoping someone might have some insight to the problem I'm experiencing with Screen Sharing. I have two macs that I use - one is a Mac Mini 2010 Server model running Snow Leopard. The other is a MacBook that is running Lion.
Since updating to Lion on the notebook, I can no longer access screen sharing through the Mac mini to the MacBook (Can't see the Lion screen through the computer with snow leopard). I AM able to screen share the other way (see the snow leopard screen through the macbook running Lion).
It's aggrivating, in as much as these computers are on two different floors of my company, and being able to see the screen makes life easier.
I should also point out that I am able to successfully share the hard drives / files between both computers going back and forth (Snow Leopard to Lion and Lion to Snow Leopard) - it's just the screen sharing that no longer functions. When I attempt to access the other computer screen it will act like it is signing in but just hangs and does nothing.
I know there is probably much more information that someone will need to help me solve this, but I don't know where to look. But I'm hoping that with at least this much information you might be able to tell me where to look to get this corrected.

Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard? If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone. It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea. See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it. That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.

Hi All, Since updating to Lion, my imac won't recognise the ext HDD (Maxtor) when waking from sleep mode, I have tried another port, diisc utility (Ext HDD not listed in here) but nothing works. I now find that I have to restart the imac to get the drive recognised..which is fine until the imac goes into sleep mode then I lose the drive and have to restart etc etc.....anyone suffering same issue. The Ext Drive worked perfectly until the upgrade..

Thanks for this, and apologies for delay in replying...in between seeing your post I backed up the ext hdd to another mac and used the disc utility to erase and repair and then re mounted the ext hdd. OK. I have then tested the ext hdd being recognised when waking from sleep mode a few times and everything appears to be fine. If this doesn't work (long term) I will follow the instructions as you have suggested....
I now have a new problem with my HP printer (Photosmart Plus) which is not being recognised by a new wireless router..Ok whilst the router is switch on and I have reconfigured the printer..but when the router is switched off overnight and then switched back on...I get a 'printer is not connected' message and have to go through the re configure routine all over. I am minded to think this is a router problem as the same issue is happening to my wifes Mac Book Pro (which is only a few weeks old)...any suggestions..

I just had the same problem, after working on a project for a couple of hours and thinking it was saved, I go back to work on it some more and all the work I had done was not there. This is totally frustrating. I posted here as well and haven't had any responses. Good luck to you.

Several ways to force quit when you can't quit an app normally.
Go to your Apple menu (top left in your screen) then from the drop down menu select Force Quit.
You can also force quit an app using the Activity Monitor app located in /Applications/Utilities.
You should be able to shut down your Mac by holiding down the power button until the screen goes black. Then restart as usual.

Close it before quitting the programs or turn that option off from the General pane of System Preferences.

Cannot backup since updating to Lion: sparsebundle can't be accessed

Since I updated to Lion, I can no longer back up to my TimeCapsule. All I get is this message
"Time Machine could not complete the backup.
The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/xxxxx’s iMac.sparsebundle” could not be accessed (error -1)."
And the Time Machine indicates latest backup as "Delayed" citing a "Time Machine error", and the same detail as above, "error-1".
I have another Mac that I have NOT upgraded to Lion, and it continues to backup to the same TimeCapsule drive unimpeded. I can't find a solution for this problem in Lion. I hope somone has an answer. I'd really like to re-access my old backups, but I'll be happy enough if I can just make a new backup.
Lion seemed great but this is a pretty serious problem. If my iMac crashes without a working backup - I'm completely hosed.

I found out that this particular error has nothing to do with Lion 10.7.1. My TimeMachine is simply trying to access a backup sparsbundle from a different account on this computer that is no longer used and it can't do it (I suspect because the data and user doesn't match up). I deleted that one. TimeMachine then tried to "inherit" the sparsebundle backup from another computer which I migrated to this computer (its all the same data, just from a different Mac), which also failed. So, I had to try to transfer the sparsebundle to save it, but it's too big to put anywhere (if I had an extra 900 GB drive laying around I could do it...), so I simply deleted it (which took all night to process) and am running a new backup now (which is supposed to take "about 7 hours"! - and by the way, the large sparsebundle is still in the process of deleting after 8 hours, so if you do this too, be very patient). Success!

Sudden demise of iPad since update to Lion/iTunes/firmware

Original iPad, has worked flawlessly for last year. No crashes, several updates with no problem. Updated to Lion, updated iTunes (10.4) and went to sync - backed up and iTunes identified new firmware available(4.3). Failed to update, tried restore, failed half way, succeded on third attempt by setting up as new iPad and starting again, crashes a few minutes into every sync. Managed to get some applications across. Frequent crashes in Safari, Mail etc. Frequent needs for hard reset (both buttons pressed for 10 s)
Is anyone else seeing this?

I also have just reset it, and it shows a file folder
with exclamation point.
I did all of the "r's" and just finished up 10 min ago "restoring" my ipod. It said it was now restored but keep plugged in to finalize restoration. When completed, will show up in sources of itunes. I'm still waiting...it is now showing the red circle and looks more normal. I'm afraid to unplug for fear that it will go back to the file folder with question mark..Any ideas anyone?

Missing Vertical Line symbol since updated to Lion

Hi everyone,
     Since i have beed updated to MAC OS Lion (10.8.2), Vertical line symbol (Unicode: U+007C, UTF-8: 7C) is not working anymore.
     Hiting Shift + \ give me no any symbol.
     Strangest is, that it is shown in Keyboards viewer, but does not outputs while typing.
     I am using Apple Wireless Keyboard.

Double check that this character has not been set as a trigger for something involving speech in system preferences/speech or dictation, etc.

Internal Audio does not Work after Update to Lion 10.7.2

I have updated my computer to Lion 10.7.2 and the internal spakers of my monitor do not work anymore. Sytem settings show that sound is off. No chance to switch it on again. Any idea? Kind regards

My internal iSight on my MacBook Pro (mid 2010) is also nog recognized after Lion install.
It does not show up in System Profiler and resetting the SMC does not help.
Anyone can help besides resetting the SMC?

Safari 5.1.2 crashing on bank's site since updated to Lion

I'm desperate!
Safari crashes (hangs) qhen I try to log on my banks site: www.bancon.hn
I can enter homepage, bot can't do online banking (https://bancon.hn), I can enter user but site just hangs there and never asks for password, (this site uses sitekey). Never had that issue before (Snow Leopard and Safari 5.0), until I upgraded a month ago to Lion and to Safari 5.1.2. I'm an accounter and administrator at our family business so I and really need to be able to do online banking. Already did Software update, uninstalled java, installed again, same for flash and no improvements at all. HELP!!!!!
Any ideas or comments will be really really appreciatted.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

The option to stream Bluetooth audio no longer exists since updating to IOS 5.0.1. What can I do?

Please help me get this Bluetooth stream problem fixed. I miss being able to listen to tunes! Yes, I can plug it in, but the Bluetooth is so nice. My Bluetooth headset and Bluetooth to Sync in my Ford works too. But no audio. The option used to be on Pandora, iPod, etc.... But the option no longer exists.

Yea, Its quite strange.
It has been working perfectly fine for me for about 6 months that I have had my car.
Now suddenly I cant connect and the only thing that changed, is that my iphone automatically updated to 5.01..
My Kias bluetooth firmware has not changed. And it surely cannot be changed over air.
When it works its quite the feature.. Its amazing for connecting iphones to cars.
switching tracks with the wheel, volume.. all worked great before this update for me..
I'll try and reset everything tonight and see, but I have tried deleting and re-pair the 2 devices together, to the same result.
Once... I did get a phone call, which then the voice did stream through the car, and then suddenly,

But clicking any of these doesn't do a thing. Nor can I open "force quit" to close the offendng app. Like Mont Pythn's fabled dead parrot, my 10.7.4 is deceased, lives no more, 'rung down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible' singing the Lion sleeps tonght.
Anybody out there know how to wake up a Lion safely?
