Audio falling out of sync during playback of videos

I now have Windows 8 on a brand new laptop, and new TV dls fall out of sync between audio and video within minutes.  Skipping to the beginning and dragging back to my last place in the timeline corrects this for a minute or so, and then falls out of sync again.
Also, other new purchases skip/pause every few minutes.  I tested previous dls (that are still in the cloud) and had no playback problems.  I don't want to delete everything and redownload until I know for sure that is the solution.

  • Audio falls out of sync with FCP sequence after export from STP

    Hey all,
editing sound on a short film. sent FCP sequence to sweeten the dialog and add effects, according to the timeline it is the same length as sequence length in
FCP, but when exporting from STP to FCP to complete movie, the sound ends up being about 10 frames longer than the video and starts in sync and falls out of sync over the duration of the film.
Have tried changing preference settings in STP, exported about 5 ways to breakfast and all have same result.
Anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Much thanks,
    Holly

I just experienced this same thing, and as Christof says, it had to do with 'Easy Setup' and 'all formats'. I've been editing a picture shot on RED in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) at 2K (2048 x 1152) and 24fps...FCS 3 (FCP 7 latest version). Whenever you trash preferences or start up FCP new, you get the 'easy setup' menu. Previously, I could just hit 'okay' and go ahead into FCP and change the settings/resolutions within the project...even if the 'easy setup' default was, say, DV/NTSC 29.97. Also, when opening up an active project after trashing prefs, the project itself would still have the same editing/playback settings/resolutions, even if the 'easy setup' window had its default DV/NTSC setting. Plus, if you create a new timeline and its default is one format, once you drop a different format into it, it asks you if it should adjust to that format anyway, and of course, you say yes and everything is fine.
Well....in this most recent FCP update, whenever I'd export an AIFF from the timeline and reimport....or if I'd just import an AIFF...it would do something to the playback rate of that newly imported/reimported sound file and suddenly its sync has drifted all over the place within just a minute or so. But strangely, it wouldn't do it to audio that's attached to picture (.mov/MP4/etc.)....only isolated audio files (AIFF/WAV). So naturally, I wondered if something was going on during the export process or the like.
The solution is to make sure that when you open FCP (newly, or after trashing prefs), make sure you pick the settings/format/framerate in that 'Easy Setup' window that matches what you intend to edit as closely as possible. In my case, the format is Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), 2048 x 1152 @ 24fps, and I use a Blackmagic Multibridge so I have settings for it. Hence......*Format; HD, Frame Rate: 24, Use: Blackmagic HDTV 1080P 24 - 10 bit.* Whereas the default upon startup is....Format: (all formats), Frame Rate: 29.97, Use: DV/NTSC 48KHz.
You can also set these in the 'Audio Video Settings' menu. Now, whenever I export and reimport an AIFF, or just import an AIFF (like the soundmix prepared by our sound designer), sync stays and there's no drift. So make sure you've picked the right settings when starting or reopening a project, again as Christof pointed out.

  • Final cut pro - editing music video audio falls out of sync

filmed with canon 7D- i play the music in the background for th artist to perform. upon loading up the footage into final cut, i sync the start of the video audio with the record, as they both play it falls out of sync. i did not have this problem when i edited with premiere. any ideas

Sync issues are *usually* going to be mismatched sample rates, for instance, you imported 44.1kHz audio into a 48kHz project.
This happened to me awhile back, and unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it. But what I *think* I did was click on the imported audio and went to the Retime menu and selected Conform Speed. If that doesn't work, right click on the audio in the event browser and select Transcode (if there's an option to do so in the dialog).
It is also possible to manually resync audio by Retiming it. Turn on snapping (N), select the clip, type Command-R and drag the audio clip's retiming handle until the end of the audio snaps with the end of the video clip (this is actually amazingly accurate.) [If your recorded audio is not the same length of the audio on the video, then set markers on the video and audio tracks and retime until the markers snap.] You should do this before any other edits.

  • Video and audio fall out of sync in Captivate 6

I made a great little video demo in which I added audio while I recorded it in Captivate 6. However when I play it back the audio and video fall out of sync. How can I fix my problem and how can I prevent it from happening again?
    JJ

Douglas, I found that even the SWF files have started to get out of synch as well (although not as badly as the MP4), so with Adobe's blessing, I installed Captivate 7 on my 2009 model MacBook Pro (with Windows 7 running in Bootcamp) and now when I publish both SWF and MP4 projects, they are in perfect synch.
The strange thing is that my MacBook Pro probably has less grunt than my work PC (Dell Lattitude) and I would also have thought that running in a Bootcamp based Windows 7, that would detract even further from Captivate's performance.
I am happy that this solves the synch issue, I am not happy that I must continually move projects between my office PC and my home based MacBook Pro in order to do this and I am still none the wiser as to what is actually causing the problem; although I do wonder whether it is in some way related to the reporting to base issue that was causing Captivate 7 to go into a not responding state every few minutes (that was resolved with a patch provided by Adobe support)..

  • Audio falling out of Sync after importing into PP

    Hello there,
I'm relatively new to this, so please when you're helping me, dummy it down as much as you possibly can.
I've been using Xsplit to record games while I play. I recorded a ~2 hour video and toward the beginning of the video  it seems to be pretty a-okay but later in the video when I play it in premier pro, the audio starts falling out of sync.
I have no idea why it does this or what to do. When I play the original raw video the audio and video are both on time.
After googling this issue for about 40 minutes (and i'm not 100% sure what this means but I have a general idea) I read somewhere that the reason why the audio was out of sync was because xsplit uses a "variable framerate".
Not sure if this is true or not, but regardless, I tried exporting numerous times and the audio STILL falls out of whack.
I looked on xsplit and there was a setting that i could enable to force constant frame rate.... is this a solution to that problem?
    Please, help me.
    Thank you.

If your current video file DOES use a Variable Frame Rate, it will not edit properly in any version of Premiere
Force your software to create a Constant Frame Rate file and try again
Go to http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere and, in the area just under Ask a Question, type in
    variable frame rate
    or
    VFR

  • Audio falls out of Sync after a few hours

Here's my problem... After weeks of trying to get FME and FMS
to work correctly, I finally got everything talking to each other
once I installed FMS on a different server than FME and Apache, it
    now works great.
What I doing is capturing our stations live feed from an ATI
PCIE TV-Tuner, Encoding it with FME which is feeding it to a
Windows 2003 Enterprise Server running FMS Ineteractive, then feed
to an Apache server on the same machine the FME is running from.
After 2-3 hours of encoding it falls out of sync, the longer
it encodes the more if falls out of sync. How can I resolve this
    problem?
And one last thing... I'm using a modified version of the "
    LIVE" example application.
    The Encoding Machines Specs are:
    Windows Vista Enterprise
    AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core
    8 gigs Memory
    The FMS Specs are
    Pentium HT 3.8ghz
    6 gigs memory,
    Windows 2003 Server Enterprise

Which version of FME are you using? is it the latest version
    (2.5) ?

  • Audio moves out of sync or alignment with video after moving clip

I have a video clip with it's detached audio on the secondary timeline.  The audio has been broken apart so that I can edit each individual audio track.  But I still want to keep the audio linked and synced with the video.  When I select the audio and video and move the clip, the audio moves out of sync(by a frame or two), and isn't locked directly under the video the way it should be, or the way it was before I moved the clip.  I notice this when I zoom in really close and the audio tracks are a frame or two off.  In some cases, the audio tracks get increasingly out of sync the more I move the clip.  This shouldn't happen when I select everything together.  Has anyone ever experienced this or is there a solution to avoid the audio getting out of perfect alignment with the video?  Thanks

Yes, it would probably be best to just turn it into a compound clip.  I'm relatively new to FCP X, and I'm coming from FCP 7.  In FCP 7, I like being able to see both channels of audio under each clip.  So, what I do is adjust the audio levels for each channel separately.  I might add keyframes to one channel and leave the other channel alone.  In FCP X, it seems like the only way to edit or adjust the separate channels is by breaking apart the audio.  Then I can see both channels of audio and I can add key frames, etc.  So, I just need to be able to see and edit both audio channels, independently.

  • DVCPro50 Captured as DV50 audio falling out of sync

    Hi All,
I am working on a rush project right now and have a curious problem.
    I have a 2 1:30 shows, with 4 cams each.
I have captured all the footage using the DV50 codec over firewire, and some is beautiful and fine. About 1 out of every 4 tapes, the audio falls terribly out of sync with the video.
It was shot in DVCPro50, 30P. I've changed my sequence settings to match, and the issue still occurs.
Any ideas, answers or suggestions? Any and all help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

I do have those features enabled. Thanks though! The only things I think it could be are either, a.) the cameras were in time sync, so perhaps it is an error in the time code there, or b.) since they were in shooting 30P, I am not using the proper pulldown cadence. Any suggestions?

  • Converting to m4v falls out of sync?

I am trying to convert a bunch of .avi files to .m4v so that I can watch them on apple tv. For all of the clips i have that are under 30 minutes, everything is fine. But, for the movies I have that last for longer than a half hour, the audio falls out of sync. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I am using quicktime pro's export to apple TV option.

I just came across this link which describes the exact same issues I've been having.
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/streaming-server-users/2006/Jan/msg00184.html
    In the post, he mentions:
+"Stripping the hint tracks that Compressor makes in QT Player Pro, and re-exporting Movie to Hinted Movie (using QuickTime packetizer instead of Native) fixes it. "+
My system is busy with another task at the moment, but I will have to give this a try. I wonder if compressing a video as a download version and then exporting for hinted will work just as well as deleting the hinted tracks....

  • Why does the audio go out of sync on my Apple TV?

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the audio goes out of sync with any streaming video on my Apple TV (3rd gen) after about 20 minutes of usage.  I have never had this experience in the past and am not sure why it is happening, but one theory is that it has something to do with AirPlay.  I'm pretty sure that this problem only happens after I use AirPlay to connect my Mac to the Apple TV.  I'm not sure if this is the exact source of the issue and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what solutions may be available.  Thanks.

  • Audio / video fall out of sync

I'm working on an interview project which needs better audio than my built-in camera mic provides.
So, I recorded my audio separately during the shoot using Logic. I bounced an AIFF (48KHz - to match the video), and I thought it would line up perfectly with my video file in Final Cut Express.
I lined up the beginning - perfect sync. However, several minutes into the clip, the audio and video start falling out of sync - more and more as it moves down the timeline.
Does anyone know a possible solution for this problem? I searched, but I think I'm asking the wrong questions.
    Thanks!

Make sure the sequence settings match the media. If that's not the problem, it sometimes works to modify the speed of either the audio or video if you can figure out by what percentage they're out of sync.

I too have the same problem.  The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video.  Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   its a joke,  my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well.  at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues.  Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!,  there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

  • Slow loss of audio sync during playback

When watching video podcasts. I nptice that the audio slowing falls out of sync with the video. I am running quicktime that comes with iTunes 10.1. Any ideas?
    Regards

I nave updated Quicktime which did not work and then iTunes with Quicktime and I still get the out of sync problem.
One other issue is that when a video or video podcast ends iTunes freezez and appears in task manager as "No Responding".

  • Audio Tracks Out of Sync?!

I opened up one of my projects today and started playback and everything was all over the place, out of sync.
the project consists of acoustic guitar, electric guitar and two vocal audio tracks plus a b4 organ track and an ultrabeat drum track.
i shuffled things around to get them back to normal, moving my audio regions around a bit until it sounded right. i ended up messing pretty much everything up so i used the command to move all audio regions to original location.
the drums were still out of sync and off tempo, even. i wondered if i had messed with the tempo and not remembered so i started playing with it trying to get it to match.
i quickly discovered that if i adjust the tempo at all, my audio tracks/ regions fall out of sync again. this makes no sense to me whatsoever, and i'm kind of worried i may have a corrupt project or something.
does anyone know what this may be and how to fix it????? thanks.

X-man is correct. This behavior isn't unique to Logic either.
Let's say your sequence is at 60 BPM. That's 1 beat every second. You record 4 tracks, each with an individual hit of a drum and nothing else:
Track 1: Kick on beat 1 - heard at zero seconds
Track 2: Snare on beat 2 - heard at 1 second
Track 3: Kick on beat 3 - heard at 2 seconds
Track 4: Snare on beat 4 - heard at 3 seconds
Now you change the tempo to 120 BPM. That's 1 beat every 1/2 second. Because you've got these individual sounds recorded on separate tracks, their playback will occur more quickly. In fact, twice as fast:
Track 1: Kick on beat 1 - heard at zero seconds
Track 2: Snare on beat 2 - heard at 1/2 second
Track 3: Kick on beat 3 - heard at 1 second
    Track 4: Snare on beat 4 - heard at 1 1/2 seconds
This is not time compression. Changing the tempo from 60 to 120 simply causes the individual recordings to play back sooner relative to bar 1/beat1. In this case, half as much time elapses between the playback of each sound.
IT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY if this kick/snare pattern is contained in a single audio recording, because the spacing of the kicks and snares is frozen in time within the recording.
Let's say you record kick/snare/kick/snare as a single piece of audio at 60 BPM...
    a) if the recording is made at bar 1/beat 1, no matter what the tempo of the sequence is changed to at a later time, this recording will be always be 'anchored' at bar 1 beat 1.
    b) if the recording was made at bar 4/beat 1 (that's 4 seconds in from bar 1, beat 1) and then you change the tempo to 120 BPM, the timing of the drum sounds in the recording won't move relative to one another, but what will move is WHEN IN TIME that recording is triggered to play back. In this case, doubling the tempo is going to make that region trigger still play back on bar 4, but you get to bar 4 twice as fast at 120 BPM than you do at 60 BPM!! So the region will play back after 2 seconds have elapsed (from bar 1).
    HOW TO GET AROUND THIS:
There's a key command called "Lock Regions to SMPTE Postion" (do a search for "SMPTE" or "Lock" in the key commands window). When you select regions and apply this command they'll be locked at the time of their original recording. This way you could record tracks that don't all start together, like this:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
                YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
          ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
...then change the tempo at a later time but NOT have the tempo change affect the position of the regions relative to one another.

  • Why does my audio slip out of sync when exporting?

I am exporting an HD edited video. I shot 1280x720 & editing in FCP 6.0.5. I am using APPLE PRO RES 422 1280x720 30fps 48kz . Should it be (HQ)?? - I do not select re-compress all frames or make self-contained. I just want a QT reference file to view and then burn a DVD. My clip is 43 minutes long. HOWEVER, the audio drifts out of sync BIG TIME. Why is that??
    Here are my sequence settings:
    1280x720 Aspect Ratio HDTV 720p (16:9)
    Square Pixels
    H.264
    Audio at 48kHz

That's what I thought, however, when I play back the .mov file after exporting using "current settings", that's when I experience OUT OF SYNC audio. Do I ignore that and drag and drop that file into iDVD and let iDVD crunch it??? Is it just the playback of that .mov file that is out of sync?
