Audio file conversion into ARB of device

Hi ,
I would like to convert a set of *wav file (I & Q data) into a binary or text file so I can transfer it to an Arbetary Waveform generator. Furthermore I will need to build an *.dll out of this application.
Do you have any program examples?

We have examples of reading in .wav files in LabVIEW and playing them over the computer's built-in audio - these examples ship with LabVIEW. We also have examples as part of the Sound & Vibration Toolkit that can take measurements on an analog input channel and save this measurement as a .wav file among other operations. These Sound & Vibration examples do not come with the standard LabVIEW package, as they are part of an add-on toolkit that is purchased separately. You can, however, view the descriptions of all of these examples by opening the NI Example Finder from LabVIEW and navigating to Toolkits and Modules Not Installed»Sound and Vibration.
If you have the Application Builder activated in your LabVIEW package, you can easily build a DLL out of your VI's. Depending on what version of LabVIEW you are using, the process will be different. What version do you have installed?
I'm curious to know, however, what the end goal of this is application is. If the idea is to send the audio data to the arb and have it output the stored sound file, why not just play the .wav file on the computer and use the audio out jacks to serve the same purpose? Also, what format do you need this binary/text file to be in? WAV files are already stored in a binary format on your computer, so being more specific as to what you're looking for will make it that much easier for us to help you.

I have never tried an MP3 file but have done images.

As you know, iTunes for Mac is not capable of processing WMA files. The two best choices are:
Get access (even temporarily) to iTunes for Windows. It can convert your WMA files to the format indicated in import preferences. Use a USB flash drive to copy the files back to your Mac.
Use a 3rd party conversion program. The one most preferred by Mac users is EasyWMA.
In either case, once you have the converted files, add them to your iTunes library. Then delete the WMA originals.

I downloaded a series of podcasts recently. They were imported into my "music" directory instead, making it more difficult for me to recall where I left off with the last podcast I listened to before having to stop it for whatever reason. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do it, though the result isn't ideal. Import your episode, then select it in the Music list and hit command-i to bring up the info panel:
However each episode you do this with will turn up as a 'podcast' with no name - and it doesn't seem possible to give it one - containing the one episode:

Audio files turned into white noise

I just opened a couple of session I kept on my firewire audio drive and for some reason some of the audio files have been turned into white noise and obviously rendered unusable. Has this ever happened to anyone? If so can you do anything to sort it out?
Some of those where really important so I would really appreciate if someone had a solution.

Can't import any audio file types into my project files in AECS5

I'm trying to add sound effects to a titles animation for the first time. When I tried to import a .wav file i got this error:
after effects error. Can't import file (filename.wav) unsupported filetype or extension
So I converted the file to .mp3. Still didn't work. I converted the file to .aiff, wma and none worked.
Whats the problem? Better to just animate in AE and input sound effects in Premiere?

That's the first thing to tend to if you haven't done it yet.
You have other issues going on as well.
Issue #1 is that you only have 4GB RAM, and for AE 10, that's absolutely NOTHING. You need to get more memory, you need to get it right away, and you have to turn off multiprocessing and leave it off until you get more memory. Think about bringing your machine up to 12 GB minimum to use multiprocessing. You should tend to that next.
Issue #2 -- you have your media files on the same drive as your OS and applications. This is very bad indeed. You need to get an additional hard drive for your project files and media files. A 1 TB internal hard drive costs what.... about $100 US? That's the third thing to do.
Once you do all that, you ought to stand a fighting chance at getting your audio work done in AE. And you should use either AIFF or WAV files. Do NOT use any kind of compressed audio. AE has NEVER worked well with compressed audio.
Can't afford to do all that hardware upgrading? Got a video editing application? Import your AE animation -- VIDEO ONLY, no audio -- and any audio files you need, including sound effects. Do the work in the video editor. Not only will it be faster, but easier.

How to insert a streaming audio file/link into a basic HTML page?

I am a novice webmaster managing the website for our arts organization. I am trying to build a simple table on a page of our site that will have about 30 streaming MP3 audio clips for our members to review. I'm using Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3 to host and stream these files (using an embedded JW Player?). Can someone explain to me how to insert these media files into my Dreamweaver page in the most simple way?
Up until now, I've been just inserting downloadable MP3 files as quicktime plugins (also hosted at Amazon S3) but with 30 files that gets pretty cumbersome because they all begin to progressive download at the same time.

MOD file conversion into imovie

Dear all;
I bought an GZ-MG20 JVC Harddisk Camcorder and am now struggeling to import those .mod files into imovie to create a new projec/movie.
screening the discussions i have found some suggestions on freeware to download which would enable the conversion. however, those suggestions date back to October 2006. Is there in the meantime a more userfriendly solution to my problem?

ffmpegX or Mpeg Streamclip should be able to transcode from mpeg2 MOD files to DV streams that iMovie uses.

MPEG Streamclip may require you to have the proprietary mpeg2 package installed. However, ffmpegX uses open source codecs (may have to download manually, but instructions are included).

Can someone explain how I can convert a garageband file (voice speech) into a text? My Mac is a Mac OS X 10.5.8 version, so I don't have programs such as mountain Lion. I thought to use googlevoice. Is this option available? If yes, how can I use it?

My requirement is that i am to upload a file into DMS. So i am to pass the file as a XSTRING to a RFC.
How can we achieve that??

Well after a lot of searching I found a solution to the Real Audio part of the problem. I downloaded the 'Real 10 Export Plug-in for Mac OS X' which is not supposed to work on 10.4. Which it doesn't for the most part. But it will however encode from MP3 or whatever Quicktime will play to Real Media under the 'Modem - Audio Only' setting. Even after it encodes it says that it's 'failed' but the encoded track is there to be used. It's other functions don't work but I only wanted this one aspect anyway. Strange they haven't updated it for 10.4.

would you be so kind to give me some advice on these 2 questions I have.
1. how can you put a selection (and not the whole file) of an audio file directly into the multitrack. Under the windows version this was control + M. But I can't find this in the C5.5. Although copiing small parts and putting them afterwards into multitrack is an option I would prefer putting it directly into multitrack. (and continue working on the audiofile-screen)
2. as a fresh Mac-user I can't find the option where to put audio from the web directly into the audiofile. I can only record from my internal mic. This could be a question for a Mac-forum but you guys are pretty smart so I've heard.

To insert a selection into multitrack, right-click the selection and choose Insert into Multitrack and select the destination session. On Mac, the shortcut key for this operation is SHIFT+CMD+I though you can modify it as you like under Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.
To record streaming audio to a virtual input (in order to record it to a file) you'll want to install an application such as SoundFlower which allows you to create a virtual audio device and route outputs and from various devices to these virtual input channel. Audition can then be configured to use this as its default input and capture those streams. (Note: This is becoming more and more difficult on all platforms as content providers pressure Microsoft and Apple to remove these features in an attempt to protect their content. The "What you Hear" or "Wave Mix" option that's been available in Windows audio mixer for so long can really depend on the version of Windows and the manufacturer of your audio device anymore.)

Sample editor doesn't open selected audio file in 8.0.2

I've just upgraded to Logic pro 8.0.2 from 8.0. When i drag an audio file (a) into the arrange page and then double click on it, it says "nothing to display". It then randomly displays the file (a) but when i double click on another audio file (b) it opens up audio file (a).
Very strange behaviour that surprisingly didn't occur in Logic pro 8.0.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Recording Audio from additional sources: Why doesn't the "Audio File" show

Hi, when recording audio from another source and saving: where does logic store the file? Shouldn't it be in the "audio' folder or the set path you set it to>?
For some reason after we record the "Audio File" we recorded is not to be found in the "Audio" folder we created within our project?

Can you define "from another source". I'll assume for now, you mean, from an external live source, like a vocal, or guitar.
Yes, if you had saved the song using the "Save As Project" command, the audio path to that songs audio folder should have been set. and all audio files recorded into that song would reside in that location.
The only thing that you might want to check, is hit "A" with the song open, and make sure "choose path" is set to "Song Recording Path" and not "Global Recording Path".
