Audio file converted to MP3

I am using FCP 10.7.5. I recorded some sound bites and then converted them to MP3. They sound great on FCP but like a robot on MP3 or Aiff. Why are they converting so badly? They sound terrible.

Thanks Tom. This was not for a video project. It is for an audio TBT. They requested the file be in MP3. It sounds great in Final Cut and Final Cut Pro 10.7.5 allows you to share these files as an MP3 but once it is converted the file soundslike a robot. Not natural at all. Any idea why? What can i do about it?  I tried having Final Cut save them as an aiff with the same result. I took the aiff  into Itunes hoping it would convert it better. its did not.
I would appreciate any insight.

Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please? I will be doing this on an imac 2008 model. thank you for help!

Since this is the Logic forum and you may be working in Logic, you dont even need iTunes. To convert Aiff to MP3:
    1 - Go to the Bin>Audio Files
2 - Select the Audio File you want to convert ( and not a region or edit of it)
3 - Go to Audio File next to the Link icon ( Audio - Edit - View ) and down the menu to Copy/Convert.. gives lots of options

  • How to Convert iTunes Songs (Apple lossless audio file) to a MP3 for E-mail

How to Convert iTunes Songs (Apple lossless audio file) to a MP3 for E-mail?
My computer is Windows 7 and my Itunes software version is 1.0.2
    Many thanks in advance...

iTunes 1.0.2 is +at least+ eight years old.
The current version is 9.2, and it's free.
If that was a typo, and you're using something more current:
In the iTunes preferences, change the import settings to mp3.
Then select the songs you wish to convert.
From the "Advanced" menu, choose "Create mp3 version".
When done, change the import settings back to Apple Lossless.
    That's it.
BTW, this is the Logic Pro forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes.

  • Converting MPEG-4 Audio File (Protected) to MP3

New user purchasing tunes for my Lyrica MP3 player using daughters setup for IPod. Tunes downloaded in MPEG-4 audio file format and are 'protected'. When trying to convert to MP3 it won't because of its protected status. How can I convert them? If I already purchased the songs, can I go back and download them again in the MP3 format? Did I just waste my gift card and need to purchase them all again downloading them in MP3 format? Thanks

I too am interested in this answer. I am trying to copy files from my son's Itunes library to his PSP and it will not play protected files.

  • Published with audio files, AAC Okay, MP3 'No Go'

    Hello all.
I've put a couple of music, excerpts on my iWeb website; I discovered something after I published, one audio file is AAC and it loads properly on Safari on all my 3 macs (iMac at home, Office G5 via office intranet and MacBook in office with cable modem), but the audio file with MP3 has just the 'QuickTime' logo on it, you can't even play the music.
Which is "funny" because I thought with Safari and QuickTime, should be able to play all formats of music? At least AAC and MP3? The music files are all encoded or re-encoded respectively via iTunes.
I decided to use MP3 instead is I am afraid some browsers or computers (older maybe?) will not be able to play AAC files?
    Thanks and cheers

iWeb writes page code to use the QuickTime browser plug-in so it wouldn't matter what audio format was used (as long as QuickTime supports it).
The trouble is a "Fast Start" problem with your .mp3 files.
Most exports from iTunes uses the newer .m4v or .m4a file extension and they should fast start (play as the file continues to download). You should consider exporting your .mp3 files to AAC (using the same settings currently used in them).
Your page visitors would need to have QuickTime installed no matter what format you used so trying to "help" them by using .mp3 files is lost in the iWeb page coding.
You'll also realize a file size savings on most of your AAC conversions versus using MPEG-1 Layer 3 format. These smaller file sizes help speed up your download.

  • Transter of wav files, converted to mp3, to iPod

I have transfered vinyl to my computer, as a wav file. I have encoded this wav file to mp3 format. I attempt to transfer to iPod mini, and the message reads:
"the target can not handle this type of document"
What does this mean? Can iPod accept such converted files?
    What am I doing wrong?
    thanks
    david

the file does not play in iTunes. I click 'file', 'send' to iPod. It appears as though a file is being sent, yet at the completion of such, the screen reads:
"the target can not handle this type of document"
    Any ideas?
    thanks

  • Changing from MPEG-4 audio file (protected) to MP3 audio format?

i dont know if its a stupid question, if its possible or if they are the same thing.
its just to tranfer songs to my phone they need to be in mp3 format.
any info...even to say its not possible would be good.
    legal too.
    sami.

You can burn the protected file to an audio CD which you can then use as you would any other audio CD.

  • 24-bit audio files converted to 16-bit in Logic Pro 7

    Hello,
I'm working on producing my band's demo and this is my first project in Logic Pro 7. The tracks were originally recorded into a Fostex D2424LV hard disc recorder as 24-bit wave files, then imported into Logic. At this point, I've done the editing and effects processing in Logic and exported the tracks as individual wave files, with the intent to put the tracks back on the Fostex and run them through a Yamaha 24-channel analog board for the final mixdown.
Everything has gone smooth until now. When I play the exported tracks back on the Fostex, most of them are peaking on the meters, while the same tracks played back in Logic don't even come close to peaking. I've tried re-exporting the tracks with reduced fader levels and still get peaks on the Fostex.
Given that the reduced levels still cause tracks to peak on the Fostex, I'm suspecting a bit-depth issue. I didn't realize at the time that the files were converted to 16-bit when they were imported into Logic. The Fostex only works with 24-bit files and I'm wondering if exporting the 16-bit tracks in Logic as 24-bit wave files might be causing the problem.
If this turns out to be the cause of the peaking tracks, is it possible to re-import or replace the converted 16-bit files with the original 24-bit files and apply the editing and efx processing that I've done to the 24-bit files?
I'll greatly appreciate any help you folks can give me on this one.

Dual 2.0 Ghz G5 Powermac   Mac OS X (10.4.1)   RME Multiface

i am very surprised that the fostex doesn't work with 24-bit files.
your peaking is not likely to be due to bit depth, although i can see why you might think so. maybe you're right.
logic has inbuilt -6db of head room you should know.
your suggestion of reimporting the original tracks from the fostex is exactly the thing you should do. remove the 16-bit files from the system and re-import the fostex files. open the logic project and it will look for the old files. for greatest ease make sure your fostex imported files have the same names as the ones you are removing. when it finds the files with the same name it should come up with an error message. select use anyway.
what's happening is logic stores information about the file, its length, bit-depth and so forth. so just get logic to use anyway and the files "should" playback alright.

  • Can't Import audio files into Garageband (MP3's, Aiff's). Lion OS. PLEASE HELP!!

Everything is lower case. I dragged a file from the finder, it shows the plus sign, and say's it's converting, and it adds a new track, but nothing shows up... Dragging from itunes does even less -doesn't even show a plus sign or convert at all... I recently upgraded to Lion, and also upgraded to Garageband 11, though I never tried this with Garageband in the past.  Please help. It's sorta urgent.
    THANKS!!!!

When you open GarageBand the image on the far right is selected to the "i" button.
Select the Media Button on the right
Select iTunes it should open your entire music library.  Dang and drop any song into GarageBand.  Kinda lame that Lion wont let you drang and drop from iTunes anymore, but this seems to work just as well.

  • Still want all audio files to remain .MP3's

Is this possible? I just bought this thing (Ipod 60 gb)and have been told Itunes will change all your .MP3's to a format that only Itunes recognizes. I have several other (older MP3) playing devices.
Also I have an extensive library at work and I cant install Itunes (high security) but I can listen to and store/remove any music I want. I also have a computer in the garage that I only use for music and I am not interested in installing Itunes on it (to old no USB port).
    Thanks for any help

Tell iTunes you want to manage your collection manually. It will put the songs in the library, but will not touch the files themselves.

  • MP3 audio files in iBooks EPUB3

    hi !
Can I use .mp3 audio files with muy EPUB3 for iBooks, or is it mandatory to convert everything to .m4a audio files?
If MP3 are allowed, which media type may be used in the OPF declaration?
    Thanks a lot!

Assuming you have legal rights to use these tracks on the web, a single player that supports playlists would be the cleanest solution.
Pickle Player supports MP3 files in all web devices (including smartphones):

Flash MP3 Players (NOT supported by all web devices)

  • Can't import audio files into Logic Pro

I have some original compositions previously recorded on a Windows PC that I want to work on in Logic Pro. However, despite converting them to .raw, mp3, apple tiff and having the original file as. Wav, Logic Pro doesn’t recognise them; they’re all greyed out when I try to import or open, even though they play ok in I-tunes? How can I resolve this?

.raw is not recognized by Apple. What format is this? Is this an audio file format?
.mp3... well, if you like that kind of degraded sound...
.tiff is an IMAGE file format. Whatever made you think this would work?
I think you have renamed the file extensions one too many times...and the Apple machine is confused. Try starting over.
Also, try to look at the info pane for each file, and make SURE it is seen as a .wav file AND that the file is set to read / write, not locked.

  • Convert to MP3 for Samsung A-900 phone

I'm trying to put some tunes on my Samsung SPH-A900 phone. It won't accept them unless they're in MP3 format. I've used the
ADVANCED>CONVERT SELECTION TO MP3, but when I Get Info on the converted file, it shows that it's an MPEG Audio File.
How can I convert songs into MP3 format?

MPEG is a series of media protocols--I think there are four.
In any case, the third protocol--or 'layer'--is for audio playback. Its file extension is .mp3. Ergo, an MPEG Audio file IS an MP3 file.

  • How to merge music from a My Music (Windows media audio files)  and iTunes?

Sorry but no, there isn't. Tracks from the iTunes Music Store (as they are with any other legal download store with major-label content) are copy protected and so can't be directly converted. The only way to get them into another format is to burn them to an audio CD, so if your computer doesn't have a CD burner, then you're stuck, I'm afraid.
