Audio files currently Mobile.me hosted - how to move to iCloud?

We need to transfer hundreds of spoken word audio files (aac and mp3), from mobile.me hosting. Here is an example of where one of these files resides –-
http://web.me.com/mehermontessori/MandaliHallTalks/eruchtalks/Eruch_August1_1987 /MP3Aug1_1987/JalSamadhiBaba.mp3
We want to move to iCloud hosting.  What is the procedure for copying the files from mobile.me to iCloud and what is iCloud’s hosting prefix url?

iCloud does not provide any equivalent hosting service: you will need to find a third-party provider. Any web hosting service should be OK, and there's plenty of choice.
Hopefully you have local copies of these files as well as the ones on the iDisk; if not you need to be copying them down as soon as possible or you will lose them at the end of June.

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Displayed icon for audio files changed with snow install - how to I restore

After installing 10.6, the icons displayed on audio files (aiff, mp3, etc.) became a black square with a music symbol in it when it should be the default application icon or quicktime icon. The icon in the upper left corner of the info window is correct, but the hideous square displays. How do I restore to the correct icon?

I have the same problem. I produce a daily podcast ("Mister Ron's Basement") and I have almost 1500 episodes on my hard drives in both the original recordings (aiff files done with Sound Studio) and mp3 versions. They used to have different icons, and even though the aiff files will still open in Sound Studio automatically, they all have the same black square icon. Used to be, at least you'd get an icon that had the word with the file type on it, but no more. I have changed many of the back ones with Candy Bar, after sorting them by file type, but every new file I create, I have to go to get info and change the icon by hand. Not very professional, and a waste of my time. Can I expect sound icon differentiation to be returned to the Macintosh Operating System at some time in the near future?

  • How to move an icloud backup to my computer?

I have two old phone backups on icloud, taking up too much space.
    1) can i move old backup files to a computer to increase available space on icloud?  how?
    2) once I move old backup file elsewhere, is there any way to access the old photos without restoring to a device?  my old phones are gone but i want to access the photos...
    thanks very much!

Hmmm, so in other words, if i'm not in a position to use the backup to restore back to the original device (i gave it away), i can only delete the files from iCloud to reduce the footprint, or keep them and buy more storage?
if i have a new device (though with its own set of new files), could I restore only the old photos from the backup to that new device?
...and if i can't do anything with the old backup files, is there any reason to keep it at all?
    thx :>

  • HT204053 my mac book pro does not have icloud .  It has mobile me.  How do i get icloud so that i can link up my new iphone?

    Hello community,
I cannot find the icloud on my macbook pro and I have anew iphone 5.  how do i get the icloud on the macbook pro?

If your mac book pro still has mobileme in System Preferences but no icloud icon, then you need to upgrade the OSX to 10.7.2 or higher (Mountain Lion is 10.8.x).
By the way, if you never migrated from mobileme to icloud, then it's now way too late to do that.  All your mobileme data has been deleted and you'll need to set up a new icloud account.

By upgrading to 10.7.5 or later.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Can I send an audio file by text?

Someone sent me an audio file via text message.
How can I copy this or resend it?

The only audio files that can be sent by MMS using an iPhone are those created by the voice memo app, unless there is an app in the app store that provides this functionality.

  • Echos in QuickTime audio file when I play a page in Keynote.

I have a project that was created in Excel, placed into a PC Powerpoint program, and then sent to me, whereupon I placed it into my new Keynote program. I had earlier trouble getting the screen to stay open until the video was finished, so I decided to just get by with audio clips.
I made one audio clip with QuickTime as practice. I saved the QuickTime movie. I placed that icon onto the Keynote page. Then I heard echoes of about 2, maybe 3 voices speaking and music which I thought I had deleted I swept the page for invisible audio files but found nothing.
How can I take away the echo?

  • Saving audio files on a Palm Pre

I just got my palm and don't know how to save audio files onto my phone. How do i do that. I have some ringtones on my old phone that i want to send to my new phone but unable to save. PLZ HELP.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
One of the easiest ways to put music onto your Pre is by connecting to your PC via the USB cable and putting the device into USB mode. Your PC will see it just like a USB thumb drive, and you can then drag and drop music and video files straight to the device. If you want an mp3 as your ringtone, just put the song (or clip) into the /Ringtones folder.
Just make sure that you're transferring compatible file types for the Pre:
Audio Formats: MP3, AAC, AAC+, AMR, QCELP, WAV
    Video Formats: MPEG-4, H.263, H.264
Image Formats: GIF, JPEG, PNG, BMP
    Hope this helps,

  • Quicktime audio file to CD for playing on a CD Player can you help

I have a quicktime audio file (which seems to show as a movie?) which I have on my desktop.  I want to burn it to a CD so that my uni tutor can listen to it on a CD player.  Can you help.  I get all the way to the burn thing in disk utilities, but it won't burn.  I'm thinking it needs to be saved in another format?

Oh, thank you Martin.  I've cracked it right the way to burning the file, but it doesn't play on a CD player.  I definitely brought it through iTunes, but it shows on the CD as a Quicktime file.  I think this may be the problem.  Liz

  • How to move a rented movie from IPAD to Macbook Itunes?

    Hi,
I've rented a movie and downloaded it on my IPAD4. I didn't watch it yet and I prefer to move the movie to my Macbook pro Itunes.
I've connected the IPAD4 to the Macbook using the USB cable provided with the IPAD power supplier but I cannot find a way to transfer the file.
Does anybody know how to move the file from the IPAD to the Macbook/Itunes?
    Thanks,
    Flavio

You can't. Movies rented on an iPad 4 can't be transferred to any other device or any computer.

  • How do make sure the only audio files in my "Audio Files" folder are what are currently used in my project?

I noticed my hard drive space was getting suspiciously low...
After doing a little digging I realized that every single audio file (even the ones i have deleted segments for in my projects' arrange windows) are being saved in every one of my projects' "Audio Files" folders.
One 4 minute song (comprised of 3 guitars, 1 bass, Midi drums, and a syth) has a cooresponding "Audio Files" folder containing over 1,600 Wav files and is consuming 3.0 + Gigs of hard drive space FROM THAT SONG ALONE!
It seems as if every take i have ever recorded (even If it is no longer represented in my projects's arrange windows) remains saved in these "Audio Files" folders.
Is there a setting/method to ensure what STAYS on my hard drive is only what is being used in the projects? There seems to be no logical reason for keeping every mistake that is otherwise deleted in the overall projects.
there must be... because hand-weeding out every file it too daunting a task to be feasible.....
    THANKS!

    Hi
When you delete a recorded region from the Arrange, Logic gives you an option to 'delete' or 'keep' the underlying audio file. You must've chosen to keep, or you have only been deleting regions which only refer to part of the file, so the whole audio file is still being 'used'.
One method of cleaning up is to go to the Audio Bin, choose Edit:Select Unused, and then Delete.
If you (really) want to tidy up further, you could use the Optimise Files function Audio Bin:Audio Files (but I'd suggest that you read up on that function in the manual to fully understand what it will do).

  • HT3775 How can I play an audio file in 3GP format?

    Hi,
I have an audio file in 3GP format, which was recorded in a mobile phone and transferred to me.
I am not able to play it using QuickTim and VLC Player.
Can someone please help me how to play this?

Is that file played in a tab in the current window or in a separate pop-up window?
Are you allowing pop-up to modify the window size (dom.disable_window_move_resize = false)?
