Audio files: How to post so readers can download?

Hi all,
Is it possible to include audio files on your site in such a way that readers of the site can download the files, instead of just listening to them on the site via Quicktime? I want the readers to be able to download and keep the files, burn CDs, etc.
Thanks,
Jenn

Have a look here for various ways of using music files in iWeb ......

Anybody who is into music or movies will have QuickTime player installed.
Here's an example of a web page with the QuickTime download link ...

  • I have an audio file that plays automatically and I can't control it other than reduce the volume.  How do I turn it off?

    I have picked up an audio file that I can't control other than reduce the volume.  I don't know how to turn it off and it plays over any other audio.

    Is this an Apple installed audio clip?
    Have you checked to see if all of your browsers doesn't have a web page that is opened that has the audio? (Best thing is to quit all of your browsers to get that out of the way.) If it goes away, then find out which browser (if multiple), and then figure out what page or just close it if you wish.
    Once you get the browsers out of the way and the audio is still playing. Then quit other programs.

  • ITunes Match is deleting my Audio Files, How do I stop this?

    I have asked this question before, but have not had time to get into it.
    I use Radioshift(A Rogue Amoeba program) to record a few hours of radio everyday.  It sends the audio files to iTunes in a folder named radioshift and into sub-playlists matching each radio station name.  iTunes match will intermittently delete all of these audio files when it goes through its process of upload/download.  It is strange because it won't occur all of the time, but periodically it will wipe all of the files out and this continues for a period of time and then a few days later it leaves them alone.  I have tried moving the files to other playlists and it doesn't help.  I've emailed Apple on the issue and not gotten a response.  Does anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve it?

    Hello @adam100 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    Uninstalling HP Connected Music should do the trick. If it is uninstalled, then you files cannot be displayed as HP Connected Music files.
    You can always install it later if you want it

  • Import audio file - how?

    How do I import an aiff, mp3, wave (etc) file into Garageband 3.0.1(73)?
    I want to audio edit a previously recorded (not from Garageband) standard audio file. Maybe I will even add tracks after I get this import problem solved.
    I'm new to the program, and could not find anything in the help menu about doing this.
    Thanks.

    It'll drop where ever you click, so if you want it at measure one, and that's not exactly where you were when you dragged it, you may have to move it where you really want it. Many of us like to start a song or project at measure 2 to leave some space at the beginning in case we need it for some reason.
    A nice perk would be if you could "assign" the 1st measure where ever you want, to be able to better know where you are in a song. Just a thought. As far as I know, that is not possible in Logic, either. But having a measure -1 or more would be real handy if you use the measure count to navigate, yes? That way you wouldn't have to think in terms of measure 2= measure 1.

  • Audio Files Saved as "Podcast" in iTunes - can no longer listen to them on iOS 7!

    Just set up my wife's new iPhone 5, and the way podcasts are handled on this new iOS 7 is terrible!  This "Podcast App" system Apple has going on won't even see my podcast audio files like the older 4th gen devices did.
    Remind me NEVER to upgrade my iphone 4 or my Touch to iOs 7 - where Podcasts resided as a subsection of Music.

    Sorry: Meant: Upgrade to iO7 FROM ios 6 or earlier, where Podcasts resided within Music.

    Fabio ~ This article may help: Add music and Popup windows to an iWeb created website. Note what chapter 7 there says about iTunes music.
    In general, you can hyperlink a file by setting it up in iWeb Inspector's Link tab as "Link To: *+A File+*". The following video tutorial shows an example of a PDF document being linked for downloading, but it can alternatively be an MP3 file:

  • Converting Audio files into a format Final Cut can recognize

    Final Cut Express 4
    Ladies and Gentlemen,
    In a previous discussion I noted that Final cut would not allow me to hear imported mp3's and mp4a's in the editing timeline, therefore, my question is:
    What are some programs that will offer me the ability to convert mp3 or mp4a files into a AIFF 48k?
    thanks,

    I would recommend Audacity, a free recorder and transcoder, available here:
    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.

  • When I am downloading a file, how do I confirm that the download is active? The library does not do this, nor does the status indicator tab.

    Firefox does not show me if a download has been interrupted. On the downloads tab it just shows an estimated time; in the library it shows a more detailed status bar, but it doesn't show when a download has been interrupted, it just shows how much has been downloaded, and a transfer rate that seems to be the last recorded, rather than the current rate of zero. (I have a separate bandwidth monitor which shows total upload and download rates on my computer, this is how I know the download has stopped)

    All runing dwnlding shows in library in any wat !! If this is not wotkng thn u hv to reinstall FF thn try to do itt !! I hope u wont get this problm again

  • Slideshow, how to make clip the same length as audio file?

    Hi
    I've got several PowerPoint presentations and need to make an MP4 video file for each of them. I know how to export the slides as still images, and I also have the audio files broken up into individual mp3 files that match each slide.
    I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way of getting the slides and audio files synced in Premiere Elements.
    Yesterday I imported all of the png images and mp3 audio files into my project. But I had to individually add each image, followed by the mp3, and then in the timeline manually stretch the image to make it last the same length of time as the audio file. It was rather tedious and I have a lot of presentations with many slides to work with. I'm sure there must be some better way to make all of this happen, right?
    Can anyone help me out here?
    1. Is there a way to make the image clip match the time of the audio clip?
    2. Is there a way to import all of the audio and image files at once (given they have the same names) and have PE automatically associate the image clip with the audio file?
    Thanks, Derek

    1. You can place the audio file in the Audio 1 track of the timeline first (Timeline, not sceneline)
    2. Next drop the image to where the audio file starts. Now press "\" key
    3. Drag the end of the clip to exactly where the audio ends. Whe you are near the end of the audio with the drag it should simply stick to it.
    4. Group the audio and image file together (Right click and select group after selecting both these together)
    5. Select the clip and do a right click and use the Fade-In and out option. You can fade in the video and let the audio simply continue. This makes it look and sound good.
    6. Place the next audio file and go on doing the same till all of them are done. The grouping step is not needed but when you keep working with PRE, you might just thank me for it!
    I tried all these steps just as I was typing this post, so I can tell you for sure that PrE10 works as if it is designed JUST for this use case. So hoping you get to complete the project on time and with good quality!

  • How to delete unused audio files in a project?

    Hi guys,
    The question is fairly simple:
    How to delete unused audio files in a project?
    I can't manage to find the answer in the manual,... all I could find is how to delete audio outside used regions!
    But in the projects I use, I have loads of outtakes which I don't use in the project anymore, and now, I would like to delete them of the audio folder to save space on the HD.
    Can Logic select automatically the takes in the audio files folder which are not used in the project and delete them??
    Because there is hundreds of audio files per project, and +/- 50 projects, I just can't do it manually.
    Thanks,
    Fred

    Whoops! Yes, I knew that but a cow flew by... Sorry!
    The procedure I follow is to do what I described then Save as Project, creating a project folder. That way only the required audio is saved to the folder and I delete all temporary stuff. However, if you have folders with shared material, it's much harder and would require you to go through all your projects doing Save as Project before you could delete your old working folder.
    When doing day to day work, best practice is to create a new folder and only use Save as Project when you're working on stuff. Shared material (eg sample libraries etc) can go elsewhere and you can get Logic to copy those to the project folder automatically.
    Otherwise, Shift-Backspace in the Audio window, as you rightly say
    Pete

  • How do you change a music file from quicktime to a mp3 audio file

    i dont know how to change my current music file from quicktime to a mp3 audio file, how do you do it?

    i dont know how to change my current music file from quicktime to a mp3 audio file, how do you do it?
    If you are using a "basic" Mac OS X v10.8.4 install/codec configuration then you can use iTunes to convert to MP3 audio. It has a built in MP3 encoder which you can set up as your default audio import/conversion compression format. Otherwise it depends on how you system's codec components are configured and/or what media applications you have installed.

  • How do you make MP3 audio files?

    I'm running for public office, and a local newspaper invited candidates to submit statements, along with MP3 audio files for display on its website.
    So how does one make an MP3 audio file? Is this something I can do with my MacBook Pro and Leopard alone, or do I need to obtain a special software program?
    Thanks.

    Hi David!
    As Francine mentioned, you will want to use the audio production software that came with your Mac, called Garageband. This will let you record speech, and even layer in music, etc. And when everything is set as you like it, the sound file can be exported in a variety of formats. It will provide a great basic audio recording solution for strictly voice and talking, but you can take things one step further and layer in a music track as an intro or outro if desired for a little more flair, edit out mistakes, etc. A great program that comes right with your Mac. There are nice basic tutorials on the Apple website which give an introduction to Garageband. Good luck David!

  • How do I loop external audio files?

    I would like to have an external file (actually, one of several randomly selected files, but I can handle that) play and loop but I have yet to understand how to do the latter.  My code works great for playing the file through one time, but when playback completes, it's done.  How do I loop the audio?  Is there perhaps a listener that can wait for the file to finish playing, then call a function to play the sound again?

    I sincerely thank you for the helpful advice.  It answers the question I asked, and I'll mark it as such, but it leaves me hanging (I think) with regard to what I wanted to ask.
    I will rephrase the question and put the emphasis where I should have put it to begin with:
    Is there an event that fires when an audio file finishes playing so that I can select another audio file to begin the process of loading and streaming again?  The loop solution seems to fall short of accomplishing that goal since it will only loop the same file.
    Also, I'm actually using a SoundChannel object, and don't know how to use the number-of-loops argument in this context.  Here is the code I use:
    var mysound:URLRequest = new URLRequest('../_RefFiles/bkgdmusic.mp3');
    var sound:Sound = new Sound();
    var controller:SoundChannel;
    var play_mc:StartPlayer = new StartPlayer(); //gif image
    var stop_mc:StopPlayer = new StopPlayer(); //gif image
    var context:SoundLoaderContext = new SoundLoaderContext(5000, true);
    //sound.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, soundLoaded);
    sound.load(mysound, context);
    //function soundLoaded(evt:Event):void
            controller = sound.play(0,200); //Doesn't work...
            controller.stop();
            gotoAndPlay("Play");
    stop();
    ["Play" frame]
    controller = sound.play();
    addChild(stop_mc);
    stop_mc.y=-7;
    stop_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopSound);
    function playSound(evt:MouseEvent):void
        controller = sound.play();
        removeChild(play_mc);
        addChild(stop_mc);
        stop_mc.y = -7;
        stop_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopSound);
        play_mc.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSound);
    function stopSound(evt:MouseEvent):void
        controller.stop();
        removeChild(stop_mc);
        addChild(play_mc);
        play_mc.y = -7;
        play_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playSound);
        stop_mc.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopSound);
    stop();

  • Logic 8 can't find my audio files

    I recently upgraded to Logic 8 from Logic 7. When I did this, I almost completely maxed out the memory on my MacBook Pro. To make enough room for the upgrade, I moved many of my old files to an external hard drive.
    When I try to open old Logic files, both those on my MacBook Pro and those from the external hard drive, Logic gives me a message that it cannot find the "_____" audio file, and prompts me to skip it or search for it manually. I'm something of a Logic novice, so I'm hoping that someone can tell me where Logic typically "stores" the audio files. Doing a search by date (trying to find the files by comparing the date of the Logic project and assuming that the audio files would be the same) turned up nothing. However, I didn't delete anything that I didn't move to the external drive. Those audio files have to be somewhere.
    Can anyone tell me the file saving protocol for the audio files? I'm sure that I can find them if I can figure out where to look.
    Thanks a bunch for your help (you Logic Rock Stars!)

    When you originally recorded the songs, had you saved them as a Project? Because if you had, an audio folder for the song would have been created within the songs main folder, and that's where the audio files that are missing will be.
    Because you simply dragged the Logic files over to the external drive, and then tried to open the songs, the original audio pathway is still intact, and the Logic file is looking for the audio in it's original location, which, of course, it is not now.
    When you get the first message "Cannot find lead vocal 1 (or whatever it is), choose "manually", and navigate to the audio file folder of that song. Once you locate that first missing audio file, Logic will look there for the rest of the missing files, and finish loading the song correctly on it's own.
    So... let me ask you... are the Logic song files themselves found with a song folder of the same name? If they are, you should also see a folder within that song folder, labeled "audio files". If that's the case, the audio for that song is stored within that audio files folder.
    If you hadn't gotten into the habit of saving songs as projects from back in Logic 7, then this could be a very long, and tedious process, of locating those files.
