Audio files sound wobbly in my 7.1.6

Anyone else experience this --
My audio files (aac,mp3) are sounding a bit "off" when played in Quicktime Pro 7.1.6 They sound ever-so-slightly wobbly, with some faint clicking here and there. The same songs when played in my Itunes (up to date) on same computer sound absoultely fine.
Any reports of this? Remedies?

okay. i don't usually associate Norton with this sort
of thing (i associate it many other iTunes
issues, but not with this one.)
let us know if disabling Norton helps ... if not,
we'll try working through some other possibilities.
Hi,
Disabling the Norton did not help, however I found another solution. I ended up deleting the new iTunes and installing the older, but latest of version 6 which I remember having worked well and viola... success! It works great! Thanks again for you help and time b noir. Nice to have the player working again.

  • Audio file sounds like Donald Duck on helium

I made a jingle in GarageBand. Then I dictated an audio file on my iPod with iTalk which hot-synced into iTunes. I then dragged the dictated audio file from iTunes to GB to try to mix the jingle and the audio together, but after my audio file is imported, it runs way too fast. I looked here for an answer: http://thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#toofast - but it didn't work.
What do I do? GB 2.0.1 iTunes 4.9 iPod 4th gen.
    TIA
    JV

    Try this:
    1. Download Sound Studio at this link: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/soundstudio.html
    2. Once you've installed it, open the program, and under the FILE menu select IMPORT WITH QUICKTIME to load your vocal audio file.
    3. Once it has loaded properly, pull down the FILE menu and select SAVE AS
    4. Rename the file, and under the FORMAT pull-down menu, select WINDOWS WAVE
    5. Take the file from your desktop and drag it into Garageband. This should eliminate the "sped-up" effect and it should play at normal speed and pitch.
Let me know if that works.

  • Exs problems. Audio files sound strange when spread across keyboard

I just bought a sample pack from the fantom g series and started to import the sounds. When I played them they sounded good in two octaves, but when i ventured farther than that on either side the sound became .. . . well , different. I guess the pitch was changing, but when i went low it sounded like there was a deep filter on it and coming from the depts of ****. On the high side, It sounded very xiolophony ( this is the acoustic grand piano 1 btw ) This would happen if fruity loops too. I set the range to max but it sounds way different if you were playing the fantom, or any instrument for that matter. Is this just " the way it goes " as far as sampling on the exs? or am i missing something.
    Thank you,

I think you should ask this question to the manufacturer of that sample pack.
It is certainly NOT a limitation of the EXS24. For instance, any seriously sampled piano will cover the full eight octaves, each key sampled on multiple velocity levels, and EXS24 will not limit that in any way, in fact, its range is C-2 up to G8, 10 and-a-fifth octaves. So it is the manufacturer (Roland?) that built the instrument that has limited the range of 'm, for whatever reason.

  • Skipped audio files when burning disc in iDVD.

I burned a DVD using iDVD version 7.0. The audio files sound perfect on the computer but on the disc there are skipped areas noted in three different audio files. I did try different discs and burned discs on both my laptop and my desktop. I have used this program before but never encountered this problem.  Any tips? Thanks

    Hi
    My notes on this.
    No audio on DVD disc.
    Most common origin.
    1. Imported audio from iTunes.
    • In iTunes copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff (Same as played on standard Stereo CD - no .mp3)
    • Use this in Your movie project
    2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser
    (iM’08 & 09)
    3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provoking it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.
    Minuscular - - 176x144
    Mobile - - - - - 480x360
    Medium - - - - 640x480
    Large - - - - - - 720x540    960x540
    HD - - - - - - - - 1280x720
    4. Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
    • Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
    5. Main audio is set to off in System Preferences - Does this by it self - Don’t know why
    Cheque Audio-Out resp. Audio-In

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies — except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format — that I have noticed.
    7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
    Before burning the DVD.
    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
    • Double click on the .img file
    • Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
    • In iDVD 08 - or - 09
    • Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application
    • OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

  • Importing HDV files (.m2t) no audio in timeline (or sound gaps in audio file) ONLY IN CS6 !

After importing HDV files, wait for conforming, and drop the files to sequence, on some files there is no audio at all or partial audio.
All files played OK in any mediaplayer.
I have no such problems in CS5 or 5.5 using the same files in the same project and sequence type. HDV 1080i/25
I reinstall PR CS6 and I delete all ".cfa" and ".pek" files, but no success.

All right so what I just discover so far in order to resolve this non sense bug thing, I've exported the faulted sequence in EDL, track by track.
On the original sequence, I had a Prores 422 video clip name "Clip 497" that was manually sync with an audio file call "Audio 10".
At another timecode in the original timeline, I had a h264 clip name "MVI_0050" that was synced with an audio file call "Tascam_0455".
I said that when I select only an audio file in the timeline and I make reveal in the project, it links me to the correct audio file in the bin but when I make match frame or reveal in the finder, it links the audio to a video file. The
Well the EDL just confirmed that, in the timeline created by the EDL, I have to relink manually all the files (wich is a pain in...) and my mysterious audio file "Audio 10" appears with the name "MVI_0050", I can still link it to the original "Audio 10" but I don't understand HOW an audio get to be linked to a video file......
The audio file coming from the Tascam still have their original names in the timeline.
Very weird and not very cool.
Oh  and guess what, after closing Premiere and re open it, my sequence coming from the EDL where I spent 1 hours to manually relink the media....does not have sound anymore.......................

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. • Sound VIs with audio files

I've been stuck with this VI that's supposed let the user set the frecuency and volume of an audio file, and play it.
I managed to get the frecuency part working with Play Waveform, but that doesn't let the volume be modified (or the playback to be stopped before it finishes, as far as I know). So I tried writing it directly into the sound card with the other Sound VIs, but I've only managed distortion with continuous samples, or silence and crashes with finite ones, which are what I understand I should be using.
I've been trying to figure this out for hours, and I think most of my problems come from my lack of understanding of how the Sound VIs work, despite reading their help and support pages several times.
I've attached my latest VI. The playback doesn't work at all and it may crash your computer if it's anything like mine, but as long as you don't try to play anything it should be safe.

Hi. I'm sorry for the late reply.
In the end, I managed to get the VI working by mofifying the program entirely. I'm still no sure what kept causing the crashes, but I'll try to figure it out at a later time using your advice.
I'm very thankful for your reply, it made me realize there's a lot of tools in LabView that I've been ignoring because I never received proper instruction on the program.

  • Audio files and voice recordings have no sound in iMovie after a while, help?

I was editing and I was putting audio files and recording my voice fine then all of a sudden, audio files and voice recordings I were adding had no sound. The ones already put on had sound but when I tried to drag more audio files or record my voice, nothing. No sound. I tried restarting my Mac, didn't work. I changed the MP3 name to AIFF, didn't work. I'm using iMovie '11.

Hi PK - welcome to the forum!
Increasingly, people with digital still cameras want to import their short movie clips created with that camera. BUT the catch is that these movies are NOT in .dv format. They are MPEGs, and if they are MPEG1 or MPEG2 then they must be converted to DV before they will import into iMovie with the audio able to play.
This conversion usually can be done with a free app. called MPEG StreamClip, but may also need another piece of software called the Apple MPEG2 Playback Component (which costs about $20)..
A search in this forum for those, will give you several threads on the issue!
Look here, for example, for more about the method required:
    http://www.sjoki.uta.fi/%7Eshmhav/SVCDon_a_Macintosh.html#edit_convertMPEG
NOTE that iMovie was designed for DV use (a high-quality editing format), not the much lower quality MPEG footage.

  • Program to remove sound from video and join video with audio file?

With which program can I remove the sound of a video and join/sync the video file with another audio file?
    Thank you

Can I suggest using something that will allow audio capture from the external mic. to start with. Then you will have a video with audio in sync, in a format that you can re encode into whatever format you wish.
But, if you must do that. Dump the video from the handycam file, then put the mics audio file with it. ffmpeg -i video ffmpeg -i audio into whatever container and codecs that you want. You may have to adjust audio-video sync
    ffmpeg -i audio -itsoffset 0.1 -i video
Search this forum and the web. There are hundreds of ffmpeg examples. And the ffmpeg man
    https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html
ffmpeg will do just about anything, but is a little daunting. Ask specific questions and you'll get specific answers. Or find a front end for it. I never use them.

  • Audio files are there, but there is no sound.  Final Cut v1.0.1

I have been working on a project in Final cut express v1.0.1 for a few days. At first, there were no problems with audio, then I tried to open the file on a friends machine using final cut 2 (my final cut program and scratch disc are on an external drive). I was prompted to update my project so it would be FC2 compatible and I chose not to. We were not able to view the project on my friend's machine. When I try to play the project now, there is no sound even though all audio files are in place.
It might be worthwhile to note that before trying to view the project on my friend's machine I created a "final cut movie file" which will play with audio on either machine in Quicktime but not in Final cut.
Any help or advice about what I should do to fix this would be much apreciated, Thanks.

Thank you for the response but unfortunately it did not resolve my problem, View>Video is set to real time and not firewire (the options are greyed out and cant be selected but there is a check by "Real Time" regardless)
Still unable to get sound, thanks for the attempt.

    #include "stdafx.h"
    #include <dsound.h>
    class AudioPlayer
    private:
    unsigned long long start_point,
    playback_point,
    break_point;

    int speed;
//and any data that stores an audio (can be either sound or music)

void Play_or_Resume(); //Either starts playing or resumes the audio stored in private (Runs a thread that either increments or decrements the playback_point by the speed member and sets the now_playing member to true).
void Pause(); //Stops playing the audio stored in private until Play_or_Resume method is called (Just suspends the thread that was mentioned above and sets the now_playing member to false).
    void Play(unsigned long long from = 0, unsigned long long length = -1, bool move_start_point_too = true);

//If move_start_point_too parameter is true, then also start point is pushed where playback point is pushed too (to the value of the 'from' parameter).
//Also the value of the 'from' parameter is an absolute position, but otherwise (if move_start_point_too parameter is false) it ('from' parameter) is relative to start point's position until it (start point) is ignored.

void ToggleRepeatMode(); //If loop was true before calling this function, so after it is false. Otherwrise it is true.

//If the function succeeds, then it returns "succeed". Otherwise (if the function fails) then it returns an error string that describes the problem (the reason it failed). It can be sent to output, so it can be read, by either call to MessageBox, printf, std::cout, TextOut, DrawText functions and etc.

I want to implement all methods of the AudioPlayer class and the LoadAudioFromComputer function by myself using DirectSound (the <dsound.h>) and all functions, interfaces, methods, structures, etc... that this header provides, but I don't know how! I
need your help! This is difficult for me to find in the internet the information I need to do this. MSDN is teaching all this stuff, but this is too difficult! I need you to implement all these methods of the AudioPlayer class and the LoadAudioFromComputer
function for me using DirectSound and the <dsound.h> and the explanations I wrote in comments, and then post the code. I will copy it to mine and read it all to learn. Please use comments so I can understand. I will thank and appreciate anyone who will
donate his time to help me and do this for me! :D

Microsoft pulled the plug on DirectSound HAL in Vista due to lack of hardware support. The SAL exists for
software compatibility, good intention but bad performance as there is no longer a direct path from
    DirectSound to audio drivers.
People choose DirectSound for its Direct-ness
but there is no reason to choose it now.
    DirectX SDK was integrated
with WIndows SDK which ships with Visual Studio 2012 so you don't need additional downloads for
    WASAPI and XAudio 2.
Just look up the documentation for headers/librarieslike every other Windows API you use. If you have a hard time to find the documentation then you need to go to search engines and find search engine tutorials.
There are plenty of samples for both WASAPI and XAudio 2, both in the Windows SDK and online. The DirectX team has some suggestions on which to use on their team blog.
You can find experts for those APIs at the Windows Desktop Pro-Audio Application Development forum and the
Audio/XACT forum on MSDN (link left out for you to practice your search skills). Again, it is fine to ask for hints but don't ask the whole
solution. You are competing with others who just need a hint to finish work here. The time spent on working on your assignment would be better spent on helping on giving hints to others.

  • Combining and matching the sound of 2 audio files

I have an audio file, speech only, that was recorded in 3 different sessions.  the 3 segments don't match in tone.  Is there a tool that will sample all 3 pieces and smooth the whole file out, so it sounds the same?  If not, where can I go to find out how to manually adjust the pieces of the file?

I think I'm going to have to make an FAQ about this, as it comes up quite often.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but basically, you can't do it. At all. Whatever you do.
The human voice is something that we are all very finely attuned to, and we are used to detecting every minute variation there is in it. This is why we don't let VO artistes anywhere near the pub at lunchtime, and generally only let them drink clear liquids. Even if a voice moves across a room, it tends to sound different. You even have to be careful with comfort breaks, and make sure that the reading position is the same afterwards. Change the day, and have your reader catch even the start of a cold - and they'll sound different again. And I could go on - there are plenty more things that can change a voice too. Just the mood the reader is in can do it!
A lot of people spend absolutely ages trying to rectify these problems, and just end up doing what I do in the first place now - re-record. Ideally get the whole thing in one session without any breaks, if you can - that minimises the issues.

  • 5.1 audio files and movies no sound!!!

I did a test already. The 5.1 audio still play through ATV 1 but do not play on ATV 2. anyone else have these problems. These are 5.1 Dts audio files. They have always worked on the ATV 1. Also, certain movies that have Dolby digital have no sound on ATV 2 but they play fine on ATV 1. I have turned the audio setting on ATV 2 to Dolby digital "on" it's not set to auto. Anyone have any fixes?

Well on my yamaha receiver it says DTS when playing these audio files. I know it's not officially supported but DTS does work...these are 5.1 audio DVD files I believe. I got them from a friend. But anyway they still work on old apple tv but not new one. I have no idea why that is. They must have changed something in that little black box. Thanks for the response hope we can figure this out....

It started today where I have no volume and am unable to play any audio files, including the system set ringtones.  My phone is not in silent mode and the volume is on full.  When I attempt to play a music file it automatically skips to the next until it has reached the end of the playlist with out playing anything.  Anyone have ideas on this one?

Are the ones with the problems saying that movies with ONLY Dolby Digital (AC3) don't play audio? movies that have Dolby Digital + Stereo tracks work?
Officially.. Apple's video format must have at least one stereo track (allows playing anywhere). and then after that you can add more audio of whatever sort you want..
this sounds like it might be a little bit of history repeating itself... initially when they added Dolby Digital support they allowed for videos with DD as the only audio track.. then they defined the format, as needing at least one stereo audio track and then appleTV (gen.1) stopped playing videos with DD only.. then i guess there was an outcry and appleTV was updated to play these files again.. sounds like the same thing might be happening again as appleTV gen 2. software gets refined..
all my videos have both DD and stereo track and they work fine... i haven't tried a DD only one to see if it doesn't work..
if you have a video from iTunes (should have DD + a stereo tracks) or your own videos that have stereo and DD, it should definitely play fine.. that's another issue.. i'd try the toggling DD in setting off and on in that case.. that has worked for me in the past in 4.1..
