Instead of recording audio for video purposes at 48 KHz, how about recording at 44.1 instead and upsampling afterward? Would it work? Would it have disadvantages?
It may depend on whether you are recording separate audio to be laid onto video or sync sound recorded along with the video. Simplistically 48K is chosen because there is an integral number of audio samples per video frame, 1920 for PAL and 1600 for NTSC interlaced video and, of course, 2000 for film 24fps. So if you want to accurately lock your audio sample rate to video sync then it must be 48K.

Many years ago, I bought a Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH. I loved the camera as it not only took good pictures, but the sound quality of videos I took of live metal and rock concerts was outstanding.
Then, the camera broke after many years of good use.
Since then, I have purchased several new PowerShot cameras only to find that the sound quality of the videos from live shows is awful. The sound is severely distorted by procession instruments (bass and drums).
Can anyone recommend an HD PowerShot camera whose audio for video of rock concerts is decent? I don’t want a dedicated video camera.

How do I turn on audio for video received in an email? My audio works in other situations, just not with an emailed clip.
These documents are opening in a window, correct? Along the top of it, assuming you are on Windows, there should be a bar with a title in it, just like most apps.
It sounds to me as if you are being send PDF files, not Word documents. Why are you sure they are Word documents. IGNORE THE WORD ICON, that would be part of the problem. -
Baffled - routing audio for videos.
Hello folks, could not deceide the right forum for this, so here it is.
I want to record videos of myself playing guitar, along with a Song playing in iTunes/Guitar Pro (midi program). Now. I want a program/way of recording from my isight the video, but for the audio get the input(my guitar) and what is coming out of my speakers (the song). doing this would stop me from having to record the video, then sync it with the midi backing etc etc - very tedious. I am connecting using a MOTU device, to which my guitar is plugged in, and my speakers are plugged into the MOTU. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I can get a video with the audio just being the guitar, but no luck with both.....

No audio for video files in lightroom 4 ?
i have been importing video files from my canon 7d into both lightroom 3 and lightroom 4 beta. the video works great in both, but there is no audio in 4 beta. Audio works fine in lightroom 3.
Odd. I get audio with mine.

NO AUDIO FOR VIDEOS WHEN USING INTERNAL CAMERA
My Iphone 5 stopped recording sound when I switch cameras. Well, there is sound..an intense hissing and if I listen really hard I can make out a whisper of the recorded audio. Also no one can hear me when I use speaker phone during calls.
Music plays fine on speakers.
Videos recorded on normal camera have perfectly clear audio.
There is no water or physical damaged. (checked water damage indicator and I take great care of my phone)
Ive tried factory reset and Turning off my phone.
Can someone please provide me with some insights?!I am not blocking the microphones. I am well aware where the 3 microphones are located, and the sound isnt low..It's loud hissing feedback.

Based on its biling, I expected it to deal a fair amount with dialog editing, but it just touched on the subject and most of that was about trying to fix dialog from a Skype connection -- something of little interest to the vast majority of videographers.
The structure was just a ramble; it seemed to me that Kenan did little to prepare. It was more an ad for Kenan and his show than it was useful for videographers trying to learn how to use Audition. But maybe that was just me; YMMV.
I should add that I've watched several other Abobe webinars. Most were good solid useful information. The bar is set fairly high, which is probably why I was dissapointed in this one. -
Lumia 920 WP8.1 upgrade issues: no audio on video ...

I installed the Cyan/WP8.1 update on my Lumia 920 when it was made available to US AT&T customers last week.
After installing the update I've lost the ability to record audio with my video recordings and Cortana can't hear anything I say.
Details:
OS Version: 8.10.12393.890
Firmware revision number: 3051.50009.1425.2001
Radio software version: 1.0.202184.3
Chip SOC version: 8960
Audio for phone calls works fine. Audio for video recordings was working right up until I upgraded.
I've performed a hard reset and used Nokia's Software Recovery Tool. Neither restored audio functions.
Does anyone have any advice?

Can no longer connect for audio or video chat : Error -8 drama
I've been video and audio chatting to Europe for quite some time with no problem. After installing a new modem (Motorola Surfboard SB5101) I'm now getting the dreaded Error -8 and can not connect for either audio or video. Text works fine.
I've poked around the forums and see some similarities with problems other users are having, but I have to assume my issues have something to do with the new modem, since I've been using audio/video chat for so long without a hassle.
I went through all the usual steps as mentioned in other threads: Firewall is off, Quicktime streaming changed to T1, tried changing the port to 443... Nothing works.
I'm using OSX 10.4.10
iChat AV 3.1.8(v445)
Modem goes to an Airport Express which is wired to my desktop computer.
I get the same results from my MacBook Pro as I do with my desktop so it's not a computer issue.
Upon inviting or being invited the wheels spin a moment and then I get a message saying I left the chat.

I am not sure the Surfboard routes either.
It is not in this list http://portforward.com/routers.htm which is where we start for most people.
A little of what we are talking about.
DHCP is a way that so called server in routing devices hands out IP addresses.
You Mac will be getting one from the Airport.
You can look it up on your Mac in System Preferences > Network.
Pick the connection method from the second drop down and then the TCP/IP tab in the next section.
The IP is listed, Whether is asking for a DHCP given IP, A Subnet Mask, DSN servers (if your lucky) and the "router" IP
With an Airport Router you are likely to get an IP that starts 10.0.1.x and the "Router" is at 10.0.1.1
If connected direct to the modem the the "router" is the modem. In the case of some cable connections it will pass through the Public IP given to you by the ISP
On the whole Cable modems do not route but it is not exclusive.
IF it does not route and you connect directly to it then the IP will show may be you Public IP seen here http://myip.dk/
Next bit.
Now all ports below the number 1024 are normally open in all routers and modems that route.
Web browsing and Mail apps tend to use ports below this figure which is why any routing device will work and get you on the Net no matter how they are set up.
Applications like IM ones like iChat and On-line games use ports above this 1024 threshold and as a consequence need ports to be allowed or opened.
Next Bit.
Certain apps like iChat like the LAN and the ports open to be very Linear. In fact iChat is fussy about how many times it has to go through devices that all do NAT Based methods of opening the ports.
These methods are Port Forwarding, Port Triggering and DMZ (which is an extreme form of Port Forwarding).
Because of the way routers allow the routing and Addressing info through even from another routing device then the computer can have two IP address (one from the modem and one from the Router).
See the Second pic This means the computer sits in two subnets on your LAN.
The normal way of telling this in an iChat log is to look for the change in ports that showed up in your Log.
SO far the above infers what you can do using System Preferences > Network to find out if both device are routing.
I am not sure that the surfboard is.
I think the idea that the ISP is doing something to the packets is the problem.

Embedding video and audio for internet flipbook
Dear All,
first of all, sorry if it's been asked before but I could not find direct answer.
My company, small translation agency in Poland, plans on to buy InDesign to improve quality of our output documents, but we have one more feature in mind and we don't know if InDesign CS6 supports this.
In a movie http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs55-design-standard-feature-tour/create-more-compelling-ebooks- with-indesign-cs55/ Terry White presents how to make an eBook with embedded video. We need a solution to create a similar effect, but the final document would be accessible from WWW (eg. http://essentialabsurdities.com/dance/ - there is no video in the example) - we want people to be able to browse content like in a book (flipbook?) and access video and audio (embedded or stored on a serwer along the document) when needed.
Does InDesign support this? What should be the final format of such a document? Interactive PDF? SWF? Everybody says Flash is going to be retired soon (Apple does not support it, Android devices are soon to follow, the same for PCs in the nearest future probably) so we do not want to use this.

Michal KornackiI have no incoming video for my Jabber account. I was doing some testing for one of my customers who had this issue. Here is what I found. I have a EX90 registered to VCS on a corporate network. I have my Jabber Express client I downloaded and installed. When I call to or from either I don't receive video on Jabber Express but I get audio from the EX90. I get Audio and video on the EX90 from Jabber. What I found when I was troubleshooting is that if you leave the call up for 30 seconds I finally start recieving video on Jabber from the EX90. After testing a few calls this happened every time. I then checked the call settings on both sides during the call. Both endpoints are experiencing 50% or so packet loss until the video started being sent to Jabber and then the packet loss dropped to 0. So I would assume there is something wrong on the Jabber Express end that is causing a 30 second or so delay when the video is being sent through the proxy. Has anyone else had this exact issue?

I have a all Latest, Macbook pro, Macbook Retina and Imac 21.5" i brought a samsung smarttv, and its model number is UN55F7100AFXZA and i need to connect any of my product to the Tv, i need the video and audio coming from the Tv so how can i do this?????? budget is no limit, for a costly tv like that i dont mind so i need you mac geniuses to help me connect any of my products to the Smart tv perfectly so the Audio and Video comes out of the TV, this is my first discussion and juust got my products 3 days ago so i did not try anything i will go with your opinions so at the end i would like to say is i want my Apple Product ( listed above ) to connect to Samsung Smart tv and Get audio and vdeo from the TV.

Audio and video out of synchronization in iTune for Windows 8.1
When playing back a downloaded iTunes file, the audio and video are out of synchronization a lot of the time. The audio can be several seconds behind the video.
How can this be corrected/fixed?

Ever since I got a new MacBook (5 months ago), I've never been able to use iChat video or audio. My G5 w/ iSight works fine, and can video with my remote G4, but not with the MacBook. All systems are running latest X.4, and on routers/ISPs that do work for video--but not the MacBook. Have repaired permissions/Cocktail, rebooted. I'm wondering if there's a glitch with the model...

However, i cannot even get the picture to show up on my tv. i have my input on the tv to the correct hdmi port and the adapter plugged into what i think is the right firewire port but nothing is showing up on my tv screen.
before i even worry about the sound, i want to make sure the video picture even works, but i keep getting "no signal." any suggestions?
