Audio from imported video doesn't sync with mp3 audio imported

I thought I had a neat way to easily "back up" my audio of an event by using an mp3 recorder on the podium to capture speaker and just recording with on-cam mic at the camcorder, so not to have to mess with wireless mics and jack connections on the camcorder. My thought was that since these are both "digital" recordings of the same event, they would stay in sync. Yet when I put them both in the time line of iMovie, the mp3 sound file does not stay in sync, falling behind. Every sentence or so I have to cut some of the file out to shorten it and bring it back into sync. Any guess why these don't stay in sync?
PV-GS500 DV tape camcorder, sansa m250 mp3
Cutting the sound file to keep it in sync worked, and I needed in for an event I just recently did, where the first speaker, who spoke briefly, did not turn on the room mic, and couldn't be heard well by the camera mic. So we now hear perfectly what that first speaker said, but I was disappointed that I had to trim after every sentence to keep the mp3 audio in sync.
Thanks, Dale

I'm assuming that you are using the Sound class to control
the MP3 sounds? If that is the case then they will not be sync with
your timeline and if your animations are too much for the SWF to
stay at the 30fps rate then it will slow down to complete the
animations.
One way to sync them up would be to place them in a layer in
your timeline and then in the Parameters box at the bottom set the
Sync dropdown to Stream.
Then if your movie slows the audio and animations will still
be together.
This is not as flexible as you may currently have it but it
might work for you.

  • Video is not sync with its audio and imported material is degraded

    I'm new to Adobe Premiere.
Problem #1: Whenever i import videos (the one i captured using windows movie maker), and i play it in the program view, the video is degraded. [I've set the program view to high].
Problem #2: The other videos I import is not in sync with its audio, the audio is super fast (sounded like chipmunks) but the video speed is normal.
The files I imported are AVI.
    I have a 1.73 Ghz processor, 20% free diskpace, i have a 1.5GB RAM, i use a laptop so i have a Mobile Intel Graphics.
What seems to be the problem? I really need help.

    1. Don't capture with WMM or convert the captured files to DV AVI type2.
    2. What codecs are used? AVI is not a codec, just a wrapper.
20% free diskspace on a laptop with limited memory and a meager CPU is asking for trouble. Invest in a good editing machine.

  • My imported HD video is not synced with the audio.

This is a new full HD camcorder and I have never used iMovie to import video.  My other two camcorders (a flip and a little RCA) would import directly to the hard drive.  The iMovie import is very jerky and about 5 seconds behind the audio.  Any suggestions?

The solution that will ABSOLUTELY solve your problem is to run that AVI through MovieMaker. The file output from MovieMaker will be a DV-AVI and you won't have any delay problem.
Here's now to do it, from the FAQs to the right of this forum.
To convert a video into a DV-AVI with MovieMaker, simply import it into MovieMaker and drag it to the MovieMaker timeline. Then:
From the Main Menu select File/Save Movie File
A dialog will open - Select ‘My Computer’ and press the Next button.
On the next screen you can name the new file and select/browse to a folder to put the file in (remember where you put it because you will need to browse to the file in Premiere Elements to import to you project). When you have named the file and selected the location press the Next button.
On the next screen, click the link that says Show More Choices. There will be three radio buttons to choose from. Select No. 3, Other Settings and, from the drop-down menu, select DV-AVI.

  • Video doesn't sync with audio on network

Hey all, I'm somewhat of a newbie at using audio with Flash,
so hopefully someone can figure out what's happening:
I have a Flash movie that's about 2530 frames long, that
includes narration (which is broken out into 6 separate mp3 files),
each mp3 file begins playing where the previous one ends. The
entire movie is set for 30 fps.
The video syncs up to the narration perfectly when it is run
from my C:\ drive, but as soon as I copy it over to the network
(where everyone will have to access it from), the animations begin
to lag behind the narration. By the end of the 84 second movie, the
audio has ended at least 15 seconds before the last animation ends.
    Any ideas?

  • Cut audio from a video file and edit in an audio editor?

Using Pre 9 and a Nikon D7000 video file: Is it possible to cut the audio portion of a movie clip (where the audio was recorded in the camera and is part of the import), edit in an audio editor (I like Sony Sound Forge Studio), then paste it back into the clip?

I use Steve's method all of the time, and edit the Audio output in Adobe Audition. You will want to Export/Share to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, and keep that format both going and coming back into PrE. Remember that you will be working with an Audio file, that is the full (or almost) Duration of the Timeline. When you Import that edited Audio file, give the program a few moments to Conform that newly Imported PCM/WAV for editing. I suggest not touching the computer, until Conforming has completed 100%, and the little progress bar in the lower-right of the GUI has disappeared. If the Imported Audio file is short, and your computer is fast, you might not even see that progress bar, but the Conforming has taken place, just the same.
I like to keep the original Audio on its Audio Track(s), and just use Window>Audio Mixer to Mute that/those Track(s), leaving only my edited Audio on its own Track un-Muted. This is a "fail-safe," just in case I change my mind along the way, and wish to revert to the original Audio for some reason. It is much easier to Mute-Unmute, than to gather up all of that original Audio again.
    Good luck, and happy editing,

  • Imported Video not in sync with sound. Video in slow motion...

    Hello,
I am fairly new to Premiere and I wanted to spend some time playing around with it. When I import my videos, the playback is out of sync. The sound is normal but the video is in slow motion so it doesnt sync together. Am I missing something? Using Premiere Pro CS4 and filmed it on a Sony Xacti with MPEG4 AVC sequence.
    Thanks in advance.
    Steve
Oh by the way, it seems to open and play just fine in any other media player

    Steve,
Glad that you got some material to practice with. That was your goal here.
Now, file conversions from compressed source material will usually not yield great quality. Unfortunately, the conversion process, unlike what some would love to believe, does not restore quality to the compressed material. It only changes some of the characteristics, but imporved quality is not one of them. Also, depending on the actual conversion program used, the quality can suffer even more. This is a fact of life in Video.
Now, when you go to get your camera, there are many great threads on many camera makes and models already posted. If you cannot find info on your considerations, post to get recommendations, based on your budget and what you wish to use the camera for. I'm not positive, but I think that the new Equipment sub-forum would be a good place to ask. Previous posts will not be there yet, but will be in the general forum. Many, but obviously not all, cameras have been discussed in length, and their pluses and minuses have been debated.
    Good luck,

  • HT2729 Why is are my itunes podcasts videos not in sync with the audio?

    Hi,
My itunes videos and audio used to work fine together. Using the same Windows 7 and same computer now my downloaded podcasts are not in sync. Can someone please help me get these in sync?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Video not in sync with audio or vice-versa

This is a last ditch effort to try to find some definitive help.  Everyone has a sad story when things go awry with video capture.  Here's mine:  I recommended the Apple platform and iMovie for my wife for documenting a how-to for a particular hair style transition.  Something she can't recapture.  We used a MacBook Pro's built-in camera. All went well until she noticed from the beginning of the daily captures that the audio and video would fall out of sync within clips shortly after she started.  After she was done and mentioned it, I discovered that the six or so clips that make up the project varied in their frame rates (project is set to 30).  One clip with a frame rate of 28 is fine, but the rest have slower frame rates.  The total project length is approximately 15-20 min....
Detaching the audio from the video and exporting to QuickTime (as suggested by most) makes no difference. I've also seen suggestions about moving the content to MPEG Steamclip and doing "something" with it but I'm not video editing savvy so exactly "what" nyone is supposed to do via that solution is an unknown..
I've been all ofver the web searching for a way to change all of the clip's frame rates to 30 fps since the one clip at 28 frames is acceptable.  A foregone conclusion.  However, I can't seem to find a way to do this anywhere.
Would really like to rescue the two weeks worth of work my wife put into this effort.
    Any/all help appreciated thanks.

The basic problem you are facing is the use of the internal camera. It is designed for simple web cam usage rather than movie making. If you are making a Face Time call, the variable frame rate helps you, because when there is not a lot of movement, it will slow down the frames and give you better performance at a lower bandwidth. If the audio is a little off you do not care.
Long term, you can solve this by using a camcorder that shoots at a constant framerate.
For your immediate problem, I think that the suggestion to use MPEG Streamclip was a good one.
Basically, you would be dragging in this file with the variable frame rate and using MPEG Streamclip to save it out as a file with a constant framerate. You should now have a file at 30 fps with audio to match, within reason.
Try dragging your clip into MPEG Streamclip. Click the PLAY button so you can see that it plays. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. For Compression, choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Leave the sound setting as Uncompressed. In the Frame Rate box, type 30. Click the check box for Frame Blending. Deselect the box that says Interlaced Scaling.
Finally, click the MAKE MOVIE button, and give at a name. Save it to a location where you can find it. You can then import this into iMovie if you want, but using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE in iMovie.

  • IChat video not in sync with audio

    Hi Everyone,
For the past six months I have been trying to resolve issues with the video chat. It all started with me updating my brother-in-law's iMac G5 from Tiger to Leopard. Before the update we were able to video chat with no problems. Since the update the video has been out of sync with the audio. We tried all the remedies that have been posted (setting Quicktime Streaming to 1.5Mbps, limiting iChat bandwith to 500kbps, deleting the plist files in the preference folder) with no luck.
In the interim we have been using Skype to do our video chats, and that has been working just fine. However it has been bugging me that we can use iChat. We were hoping that the recent updates from Apple (10.5.5 and the Quicktime patch update) would have fixed the issue.
Now with all the updates we are partially fixed. The video feed that I get now is fine and looks like it is in sync with the audio. However, my brother-in-law sees me out of sync with the audio (the video is at least 10 sec behind the audio, and gets worse the longer we are connected)
We have tried all that we could think of including using the MobleMe and the .Mac accounts to log in but so far no luck. I'm wondering at this point if it is his modem (about 3 year old) that is causing him to get a delay? We tried connecting the modem directly to the iMac without the router, but it made no difference for the video sync issue.
The other issue we have been dealing with is his Linksys router (don't remember the model but, it's the one without the wireless capability) causing screen sharing not to work. He has tried disabling the firewall on the router but that has not worked. It will only work if we pull the router off and connect directly
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Some modem features such as a SPI filter which checks the Incoming data stream for any app has the potential to get in the way.
It is not uncommon for the amount of data to arrive faster than the SPI part can deal with it.
If his router has an SPI filter/firewall then he should turn it off.
It may pay to Power down all items such as the routers and computer and potentially the modem and restart them all.
Also try Restarting his Mac with holding down AppleALT+PR until he hears three Start Up Bongs.
If this does not work get him to access the Linksys and on the front "Set Up" screen he will have an MTU settings. Get his to set this at 1492 (the default is 1500 and should be reduced by 8 each time if changed - it changes the packet size and may help).

  • IPod Video out of sync with audio.

    Hey guys.
I recently purchased a video ipod and was looking for ways to convert my videos & DVD's to work on my ipod.
    So far I've done
    cucusoft
    psp9
    videora
    pqdvd
    pocketdvix
quicktime (freezes up on my pc, and takes ages to convert)
and i've yet to find any way of stopping the audio and video from being out of sync (by anything from half a second to about 7 seconds) with one an other...
is there a program or technique I could use that will enable me to watch video that is in sync with the audio?
on a footnote, the quicktime does work but regulalarly shuts down on my computer and takes WAY too long to convert.
Please help me out here guys as I am reaching the end of my tether.
    Thanks.
    /\Ben/\

hi -- i've tried nearly all the programs you have, and have finally gotten the pq dvd to ipod video converter to work out of all of them. btw, the xilisoft one does NOT work, and i'm trying to get my money back from them, so buyer beware!
anyway, i found the issue to be the frame rate -- on movies, i was able to use 30fps successfully (worked for star wars, for example), but on native tv show dvd's (such as sex and the city) i had to use 24fps.
see if that works for you.

  • Rendering causes video to de-sync with audio

So, I'm a fan of making lets play videos. I got everything all recorded with my face cam and a separate audio track to put over that. I synced up the tracks so that they both match up and I have the better audio for my voice instead of what my camera picked up. So, the audio is perfectly synced up with the video. However, If I use any of the render settings like Render In to Out, it causes the video clip (just from my camera, game play footage is just fine) to become de-synced with both audio files. The original clip and the one recorded with my mic. Even stranger. Both audio tracks line up perfectly with each other, the video clip just seems to have moved and I cannot figure out why. I also think that rendering during export works perfectly fine without any kind of distortion (not that I have tested it to make sure). Any theories as to why the program is acting like this?

glad that got to the bottom of it, yeah, you can copy a clip and then paste attributes like the last commenter said to fix the distort issue. you might also try removing the distort and basic motion attributes if you're going to your native codec and haven't animated or blown anything up. but just for future reference, there is no special default final cut sequence setting. whenever you start out on a new one, you should double check to see what kind of sequence you've created. three ways to go about that (there are more):
    1) the most basic way is in the Final Cut Pro -> Easy Setups... menu option, or if you want more options, then Final Cut Pro -> Audio/Video Settings... option. those both control the same things, but in different ways. play around in that if you're not familiar with it. but what you set there will be the "default" for new sequences that you create.
    2) if you've already got a sequence in your project that you know is correct, you can duplicate that then delete all the stuff in there and start with that.
    3) if you fire up a sequence, then drop a clip in that matches the native codec you want to work with, Final Cut will ask if you want to change the sequence settings to match the clip (unless you've turned that warning off). that'll ensure that you're working in the native codec of your footage, if that's what's desired.
you might want to start fresh with a new sequence after having done that and then pasting everything you've done into that as opposed to changing the sequence settings on the other one. it might work fine, but it also could have some glitchiness if you don't start with a fresh sequence. final cut is badass, but sometimes a little tempermental when you start tweaking the technical settings (even if you get it right).

  • HT2729 video isn't syncing with audio on rented movie

I have now tried renting three movies using iTunes on my laptop. Unfortunately, none of the movies have worked properly. The audio is about 10 seconds ahead of the film, so the  sound doesn't sync with the movie.  What can I do? I did get refunds for the other two movies, and will ask for one for this movie as well, but I am trying to figure out why this is happening.
Netflix and other video services work just fine on my laptop.

  • How do I get audio from mp4 video to stop playing on other slides? URGENT

I have imported an mp4 video into my Captivate file, and it plays well. But when I get to slides after that one, the audio from the video file repeats on several other slides. How do I get this ugly behavior to stop?
I don't want to unsync the audio and video because it could get out of sync on playback.
Please advise ASAP. I am supposed to be handing this in tomorrow and have spent countless hours doing workarounds on this project already...
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

    Hello Ellen,
What is your Captivate version and what option did you choose to insert the video?
If it is Captivate 6, Can you use the Multi Slide Synchonize video. If it is a Previous version, can you select the Video and from properties choose to synchronize with project?
Does the audio play on other slides when you jump from an incomplete video to other slides or when you view the complete video and then move to rest of the slides.
    Thanks,
