Audio glitch when transitions added

Hello,
When I add transitions such as cross dissolve or fade out, there is a split second of audio noise between the clips and the transitions, even with the audio level turned down to zero.
I tried to fix this by extracting the audio from the clips where I wanted it and turning off the embedded audio track, but this seemed to make the whole file too large for imovie to handle! The movie is about an hour and twenty minutes, and I really don't want to shorten it if I don't have to because it's somebody's wedding and reception.
Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I tried extracting the audio, and it was working fine, but it seems like the program could only handle so much extracted audio, because the more clips I did this to, the slower the program would run, and this problem was corrected when I deleted the extracted audio tracks.
Any suggestions?
I'm stumped!
Thanks.

  • IMovie moving audio clips when transitions are added

iMovie moving audio clips when transitions are addedI have some video clips that need simple fades to black added at the end. However, whenever I add the fade out transition, iMovie does something insane. Instead of the last two seconds of video fading to black and the last two seconds of audio fading out, it seems that a random two seconds of audio from elsewhere in the clip is tacked onto the end and faded. This problem is nuts and I am having no luck finding a solution. Does anyone have one? This has happened with other transitions, but I’d settle for just getting a fade to black to work properly. Is this only a problem with Intel machines?

The problem that you describe has come up frequently on this forum. There are lots of things people have tried, but no solution has been found, other than the workaround of extracting the audio, as Klaus 1 mentions, and manually adjusting the fade out. Some feel that it is an intel machine problem, but that is not clear.

  • Audio Glitch When Exporting Movie Files in iMovie

I've split ambient audio from my footage and restriped a music track over. When I playback within iMovie, it's fine. But when I export the movie out, the are still remnants of the original audio in the playback. How do I get rid of this glitch?

Is it possible that you are running iMovie 09 (which is Version 8.0.6)?
There is a glitch in iMovie 09 where if you use sped changes (fast motion and slow motion) and choose custom percentages like 38%, 59%, 133%, it will cause unpredictable audio artifacts when you share.
THe solution is to change all your speed changes to one of the presets, like 25%, 50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, 400%, etc. These are the tick marks on the slider.

  • Audio Glitches when Fading or using Keyframes

Long story short: audio problems when using keyframes or fades (Constant Power). Annoying glitchy noise occurs instead of fade. Here's what it sounds like:
    Here's the timeline:
The problem still happened when the green audio track's gain was set to 0db and one of the two constant powers was deleted.
My colleague says that she can avoid the problem by using Export directly within Premiere, instead of using AME. So this may be an AME issue.
It's wasting a lot of company time and I'd like to see this problem solved ASAP!
Is anyone else having this problem? I wasn't able to find any other theads upon searching.

  • Audio glitch when seeking in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (Mac)

Don't have enough data yet for a full report but wanted to flag this to see if others are experiencing something similar.
    Here's my process:
    1. I have a couple tracks of audio. At some points in the timeline, there is no audio at all (e.g. after the end of my timeline).
    2. Using "End" or "Down", I navigate to a cut that has silence after it (no audio clips)
    3. I then use "Left" to navigate 1 frame back in time, to where there *is* an audio clip.
    4. My headphones give me a staticky snap, and I think the glitch registers on the audio meters as a peak
    Notes:
    - The audio clip is not loud, and doesn't peak when playing normally
    - Once it happens once on a particular cut, some kind of caching seems to happen so that the glitch doesn't repeat itself if I try immediately after.
I'll update this as I encounter more data.

This sounds to me like it could be a graphics related problem are you on the latest driver. Something else you could try, start a new project and import the one from the PC into that rather than directly opening it in the MAC

  • FCP/AJA IoLA audio glitches when printing 4 channel audio to Digibeta

Hi...trying to troubleshoot my wife's machine at here office.
    G5 DP2.7GHz
    8GB RAM
    FCP Studio
    AJA IoLA
Sony DVW A500 Digital Betacam Deck
    DVCPro 50 footage (SDX900)
DVCPro 50 sequence for editing the show
10bit NTSC sequence for graphics & printing to tape
Have updated all drivers & firmware. This is the 2nd different DigiBeta deck we've tried, as well.
Sending TV show episodes to tape, network requires 4-channel: 2 stereo, 2 discreet.
When the sound on the music channel drops completely away, we can see and hear pops hitting on the audio meter. It seems to be little glitches from other channels popping in and out of channel 4. Sometimes it's a voice. Sometimes it's nat sound.
Probably happening all the time, but it's only visible/audible when it's isolated. It doesn't seem to do it on any other channel.
These audio files are mastered in ProTools and brought into the timeline as one long file for each segment, so there are no parts of the sequence that have nothing there.
The pops do not show up on the Final Cut mixer.
The pops only show up when either viewing on external monitor or printing to tape.
    Audio is 48K.
All we can do to get rid of them is keyframe the mixer to pull all sound out of that track once the music fades down. Sure, no big process, but our sound mixer is already doing that in ProTools. It's doing the same thing twice. There's nothing there, so why should we have to bring it down on every show?

    Tried this today.
Contacted AJA tech support yesterday and he had me revert from driver v2.1 back to 2.0. Wouldn't print at all, then, so we moved back to 2.1.
We can print now, but still having the pop issue.

  • Audio glitches when music stops

    Hi there,
I'm the happy owner of a Lumia 800.
The only point that ennoys me is an issue I have with audio. I checked the long thread dedicated to the poor audio in this forum, but I don't think it is the same issue.
Actually, audio is good when music is playing, but when music stops (eg pausing a song on spotify), I hear some "glitches" for 1 second, then silence comes.
I'm running 07.10.08107.03 (latest fw available in Belgium).
    Thanks for any feedback.

  • Audio glitch when importing files

I have only recently started using elements 10 and already I have encountered a problem I can't understand. Using my friends handheld camera i made a series of videos that import fine. A canon, but i don't know the model. I have then used another canon, a pc1589 from the uk to record the rest of my video for my movie. However when i import ANY videos from this camera, the audio sounds like it is jumping forward, and skipping bits and is finished by half way through my imported scene. I thought it maybe had something to do with one of the cameras being from the uk and one from the us, so i tried importing the files in a new project with the settings adjusted for the uk camera it still didnt work. I can play the files fine though media player etc but I cannot get the audio working properly in elements and don't have the first idea on how to fix this problem. Please help!

  • Audio Glitches on Timeline, but not when played in QT?

I had a client send me his project on a harddrive.
They exported a .mov file from FCP and it has no audio glitches when played with Quicktime.
But if i drag that file to a timeline and watch it through my DSR-25 to a NTSC monitor, it has audio glitches in certain spots.
Always at that spot though and if i watch the file in Quicktime, it plays fine.
All audio was exported originally out of FCP using Quicktime Movie with 48khz, 16 bit stereo so nothing needed to be rendered.
Seems like it has something to do with it going over via firewire through my DSR-25.
Has anyone else had this problem.
I can't make a Master DVCam tape for this master because of these audio glitches.
    Thanks for any help,
    Brian

I read a post about a user having this same sort of issue.
He said when he turns off his video layer, in my case just V1, the audio played fine.
    Same with mine.
So it seems to be an issue with the video track playing with the audio track.
If i export it and bring it back in, will it just create that same audio glitch?
Guess i will have to try.
Anyone have this issue or similiar?
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Unexpected Audio Glitches

I'm using a firewire interface (Mackie onyx satellite) into an ~2 year old 13" MacBook Pro and I've recently been getting some audio glitches when recording in Garageband.
I've recently started using a line out from an attenuator for my guitar recording and a DI out from my bass amp for my bass recording. With the exception of the cab sim on the guitar recordings, I'm not running any plugins.
I was previously recording direct, using either the built-in Garageband amp sims or Amplitube 3 (which is supposedly quite CPU intensive) to record both bass and guitar.
Using the plugin method I had no glitches, but somehow when I record direct I get glitches (particularly on the bass recordings). Admittedly, I don't know a great deal about computers, however my experience seems counter-intuitive to me. I thought using plugins placed a greater load on the CPU versus going direct but for some reason I'm getting more problems going direct.
I'm only recording two instrument tracks and adding a drum loop too so I don't know why this is. Can anyone suggest why I could be experiencing these glitches?

    funkywrench wrote:
The drivers are current as far as I know.
So you have checked the manufacturers website/forum etc?
The glitches are pops and crackles which I was led to believe are caused by the CPU not keeping up, though its quite possible I'm wrong!
Something you can do is check this via the activity monitor Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor. You can check CPU use % and System memory %. I had to do this the other day because of freezing while playback. In the list Called Process Name you will see GB. You can have this window open while GB is active. Just check what numbers you are getting with GB.

Hi I have Windows 7 and a PCI X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card. (Not PCI-E). My problem is I get random audio glitches when listening to music or playing a game. • Audio Distorts when I add subtitle or transition

    Hi
    "Rubberband":
When You selected the TimeLine to show three audio tracks one can
turn on "Adjust audio levels" then in each of the track ther will be a line (rubberband)
where You can set dotts and adjust audio to increas (to 150%) or decrease to zero.
This enables You to silence out disturbing noices (somewhat)(eg door slam, snees etc).
To increase the sound to more than 150%. Extract audio if it is a part of the audio clip
Select this new audio clip on the track under the video clip.
Goto Edit and Copy then Paste one or several times = increased audio
Update: *(Sorry - Didn't see that You had 6.0.3. You are in the iM HD v5 forum)*
To iMovie HD v5 there is a more modern version iMovie HD v6 (6.0.3) for iLife06 owners
and 6.0.4 if You can't get this and has to buy iLife08. This is most often a great way
even that iMovie'08 most often is a disappointment. But when done this You can
    download iM06 (6.0.4)

  • Audio Glitch in Apple DVD player when at the end of a story

Hi Could anyone shine a light on why when I build and open up my dvd project in Apple dvd player there is an audio glitch. But on the original mpeg there is no audio glitch there. I have chapter markered my project in fcp. I have ten storys and one chapter in each story.
when played on a dvd player the glitches are not heard
Any help on this matter would be great.
    sam

in Apple dvd player there is an audio glitch. But on the original mpeg there is no audio glitch there.
when played on a dvd player the glitches are not heard
Have you played the DVD with more than one player without hearing glitches? What, exactly is the glitch? A click? In any case what you report suggests that there is a problem with Apple's DVD Player.
Do you hear the glitch when you play the DVD (the physical disk) with Apple's DVD Player?
I seem to be having a similar problem, but I haven't burned a disk and used a DVD player to play it. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1863240&tstart=0
DVDSP shows my soundtrack file to be longer than what it actually is. Is that the case in your situation?

  • Audio Blips in transitions, Part VIII ... continuing

Driving me crazy, practically ALL of my transitions have the sound click or blip at the beginning and end of a transition. I've got music on the second track- so all I want is silence - everying set to zero, nevertheless... So, I've deleted the transition, extracted the audio from both sides, added a new transition (between two clips with zero audio... and Viola'!! Sound blips are there again. (and I tried deleting the audio clips... this combo is not working. Here's the apple advice:
    (new input WELCOME...thanks)
You hear a pop or gap during a title or transition in iMovie
After applying a title or transition, you may sometimes hear a pop or brief period of silence between the transition and the next clip.
This can happen when using iMovie versions 3, 4, and 5.
If you experience this, try extracting the audio from your video clip to a separate track before applying the title or transition. Follow these steps:
    Select the affected clip.
To undo the title or transition you have added: From the Edit menu select Undo, or from the Advanced menu select Restore Clip.
Select the video clip in the timeline.
From the Advanced menu, select Extract audio. The audio for the selected clip will be moved to its own audio track in the timeline.
    Add your transition or effect.
This document will be updated as more information becomes available.

I have noticed a lot of users are having problems with the audio noise that sometimes arises when you insert transitions. The Apple workaround is to extract the necessary audio and then uncheck the video sound box in the video/audio timeline viewer as this is where the static is caused.
However, this tends to be annoying if you want to either edit or perhaps add further transitions that cut through video where you have already extracted the audio.
I think another option for iMovie HD 5.02 is a workaround that I had used constantly back in iMovie 3.03. That is to add a title transition (with nothing in it) that floats over the transition where the sound glitch occurs!
    For example
    1. In iMovie HD 5.02, cut the clip before the sound glitch using command-T.
    2. Add a title effect - I tend to use a subtitle as it is usually what I'm working with, but other effects (like centred) work just as well. CLEAR the contents of the title boxes. Make it long enough to cover the audio problems and apply...
    3. You will either get a magnificant solution to your problem (which is especially good as it is an undoable feature by pressing backspace after the clip is highlighted) OR you will get one more sound glitch at the end of the title effect. BUT IF YOU REPEAT THIS PROCESS by adding (and you might as well make the effect as long as possible) title effects throughout the whole project, the amazing thing is that when these effects run together - You get no noise!!!!
Ok, you might get noise if you were unfortunate enough to finish the title effect right on a transition and in this case you obviously need to ensure that you don't do this by varying the length of the transition.
    IN SHORT....
    1. Ignore the problem until you have finished your project.
    2. (Worst case) Add long blank title effects starting at the beginning and continue adding them until you reach the end.
An added advantage is that this beats the endless audio extraction that some of you will otherwise have to do to "fix" this annoying problem.
Anyway I hope this works as well for you as it has done so for me.
