Audio goes away

Question

Hey guys. Another simple question. When importing and working on a project in premiere, the audio is fine. But once I close the project and reopen it, the audio isn't there. Where once you could see the audio, now all I see is straight blue lines where it should be. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Prelude has occasional burps, though generally it does what it was designed to do. Which actually was to log in tons of footage for say TV news stations & such. A job done typically by junior assistants. They by design would be sitting at a computer, viewing clips in Prelude, marking & ingesting with metadata comments the pieces that seem worthwhile & dumping the rest. They'd have presets for where different types of stories say would go, with everything getting transcoded in the subclipping & immediately put onto say three different storage systems for backing up on ingestion.
Rough-cutting a timeline is an additional bonus, used by a more experienced "handler" to actually start a bit for the final "show" team to whittle down. Or used to prep from the original ingestion again, to send to the teams that put together the nightly show. In some TV sitcom/drama/reality-show use, this is the way all "cards" & drives of a day's shoot get logged & loaded for pruning later, and again, may be by varying levels of low to middle staffers.
Somehow you'd think that sending stuff like rough-cuts directly to PrPro would be a snap ... but whilst I was still trying to utilize it in my shop, and over at the Prelude forum daily ... the two most common complaints were that rough-cuts were oft too rough-cut to work as a sequence/timeline in PrPro, and that the lovely ability to make custom metadata fields went splat when you got to PrPro as getting PrPro to do anything other than simply show such fields was problematic at best. Sorting or searching by custom fields can be difficult, though I understand that has been improved. How much I do not know.
Personally, I wish that Prelude had some kind of database capability, so that it was closer to Lightroom than Bridge. Adobe doesn't share my dream on this, however ...
