Audio goes off on videos

When watching or listening to videos on any website, the audio randomly cuts off, and I have to pause then unpause the video for it to resume the audio. This only just started happening today, I had never had problems with the audio at all ever before this.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Audio cuts off then video moments later for Jabber users when content is shared during a multipoint VC

If a presentation* is being shown from a VC end point/or by Jabber, the audio cuts off, then the video of the Jabber user freezes. The call has not ended on our end we can still hear and see them. A few moments later their video on our end freezes and the audio is lost. The call is finally terminated a few moments after.
When this happens to the Jabber participant they either have to restart Jabber or in some case have to reboot their PC
The Jabber participant can be cut off from their class 2 to 3 times  throughout the duration of the class
This happens over all the MCU\blades, so doesn’t  appear to be blade specific
Only appears to happen in multi –point conferences not in point to point calls
*Presentation: This can be anything from a word document, to a PowerPoint presentation to a web browser
    The warning they receive says:
The application has encountered a terminal problem.
    Location:
    Message: assertion failed. (link_ret = = GST_PAD_LINK_OK)
    Domain: <no domain>

Is this problem specific to Jabber clients, or Jabber Guest? If the former, you'll have better luck over on the Jabber client forum:

  • Audio goes off when iPad goes sleep (youtube)

Is it possible to listen music from youtube (safari) so that the music doesn't stop when iPad shuts off its screen? I'm using youtube to play music to my computer through Airplay and it ***** that I have to keep the iPad on all the time because if the screen goes black the music stops too.

Try Chrome it works better for me.
If that doesn't work start your video, close the ipad, then double click the home button and press play on the music controls.
Should start playing whatever was loaded in the browser.

I have the feeling there isn't a real solution for many of us who are having this problem.
I just gave up and exported to the desktop, and then used YouTube's uploader, which works fine.
Sorry, I don't have a fix, but wanted to add my voice as someone who has tried a lot of ways with his iMac, and figured it wasn't worth all the hassle. YouTube's uploader lets me upload many clips at once, add commentary, and then go do something else, sure that it will go ok. I had the iMovie-YouTube link working for a bit, but then it went all haywire again.

  • Is there a way to fade video to black and keep audio going?

I'm using iMovie 09. What I'm attempting to do is have a long fade to black transition at the end of the project that will obscure the last couple of seconds of video, yet keep the audio going during the fade till it ends.
To put it another way, I'm trying to ditch the last 2 or 3 seconds of picture, yet still keep the music that is going on underneath it.
Is there a way to do that?

Sorry, Karsten, I'm having trouble explaining this clearly. Here's what I'm attempting to do: I want to make a short example clip from a silent film to upload. Below is a link showing how this clip ends.
The thing I want the viewer to see last is the boy and girl sitting on the bank, not the litter of pigs.
However, I don't want to chop the music off to get rid of the pigs. So is there a way to fade the video to dark around :11 or so, and then have the music finish up in the dark a few seconds later?
In other words, how do I get rid of the pigs without chopping the end of the music off?

  • During editing on MacBook Pro 2.2GHz i7, audio goes out of sinc with video

I have been having a lot of trouble with audio going out of sinc after I have edited a 30 minute program.  When I make a second cut, I find that the audio has jumped under the first cut about half an inch back, and this happens with every progressive cut.  Then after "sharing" to dvd the audio is out of sinc with video throughout.  I then have moved each one of these overlaps back into position and still have a problem with audio out of sinc.
    HELP.

I was using a different laptop for post since the macbook was busy "sharing" to dvd, which, since I closely examined each cut at highest magnification to fix them ended up making video watchable.  Not every cut came out of sinc, but several do.
It is both sides of the cut which come out of sinc, the right side laps over the left and then I noticed when I corrected them with greater magnification that the left side was moved left to cause a gap.  I guess I just have to closely examine each cut when done with the whole video since also these overlaps are caused when I zoom out to view the whole length of the timeline, most of the cuts will overlap at that moment.  Really strange.  I had trouble fixing these but less trouble whe I turned off the snap in option.

  • TS2289 Ever since the new update in iMovie all my audio seems to be there ,but when I get in the middle of the video the audio is off. Help?

Ever since the new update in iMovie all my audio seems to be there ,but when I get in the middle of the video the audio is off. Help?

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • Video playback audio cuts off after few second

Pictures are fine but audio cuts off sometime around 5-10 seconds for the entire duration of the video unless you skip the video further a few seconds where the sound cuts off, audio are back but only for maybe 1 or 2 minutes then if you repeat the same step audio are back but again for only a few minutes, only occurs when not using headphones, but when I am using headphones video and the audio plays fine for the entire duration of the video. It annoys me as I don't usually use earphone.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all videos and resync/redownload
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Video playback stops while audio goes on

After several month of not making any movies, I am trying a new project. Right of the start something is wrong, freshly imported unedited line of clips is not being played correctly in iMovie preview window - video stops in about 30sec or so, while audio goes on. If I switch to full screen, it gives me another 10sec of video, then it stops there, too, and nothing brings frozen video back to life. After restarting the app, everything repeats.
Needless to say it's impossible to edit.
It also does it with the older projects, which used to work just fine.
Here is what I've done so far:
    1. Repaired permissions on startup disk and checked it for errors.
    2. Repaired external disk, where the project resides (even tried to move the project to internal disk with no avail - same results), and where I have 80GB of free space.
    3. Replaced external disk's directory, using DiskWarrior.
    4. Deleted iMovie preferences file.
    5. Removed all third-party plug-ins I had.
    Nothing works.
QuickTime Player seems to play imported clips fine, so I am guessing, it's an iMovie bug. Any practical suggestions would be highly aprecciated (by practical I mean, not "reformat your hard drive and reinstall everything" or "buy a faster computer" or "invest in FinalCut instead")
I've been a loyal iLife user since the very beginning, and I swear, iMovie in it's buginnes is only challenged by iDVD.

It is a common problem for G4 800 machines and I've been told Apple is investigating the issue.
Try putting your Mac to "sleep" for a minute and then try the file again.

  • Gets hot while taking video and screen goes off so many times

gets hot while taking video and screen goes off so many times

Sounds like something is obstructing the proximity sensor on your phone. It is usually at the top of the display next to the ear speaker. You didn't say what you have. Usual suspects are a screen protector or dust.

  • Video and audio goes out of sync when imported into Premiere

I have some videos ripped from some DVD that an acquaintance made, with an open source program called HandBrake, with the default "high profile" settings. When I play it both in VLC and in Quicktime, it plays just fine, but when I import it either in Premiere or in After effects, the video and audio goes out of sync (the video ran faster than the audio and when the video stops, the missing audio is trimmed).
Video info according to Premiere (in Spanish but you may get the meaning).

"HandBrake, these days, is almost entirely about H.264 video, aka MPEG-4 Part 10.  HandBrake is migrating to quality-based encoding."
Hmmm.  I use HC Encoder to make my DVDs because it's the only free encoder I've found with the much more professional Constant Q encoding option.  But HC Encoder doesn't do HD sources for Blu-ray, so I've been wondering if I'd be stuck with the lame-*** consumer CBR and VBR options most encoders provide (including Adobe - hint, hint) when I eventually start working in HD.  This is a very interesting program, Handbrake.  I will have to check it out.

  • Weird video/audio going missing problem...

    Hello,
Here is one for the iMovie experts then...
I've edited a 30 minute movie together of footage from my hols. Whilst everything initially worked fine and exported OK, now when I'm scrubbing through the clips, I get some that either show no video and no audio (I just get black, or the auto transitions pause halfway through) or... if I reboot sometimes I get the audio but not the video... Same happens when I export it, regardless of format chosen.
It's driving me proper up the wall.
The source video was shot on a Kodak Zi8, it's 720p AVCHD imported at 'Full' settings. It get's optimised when imported, and the intermediate files all play fine (indeed, if I scrub through them in the event library the sound and video is there!) so I'm rather confused! I am using the image stabilisation quite a lot, but I'm not changing the speed of any of the clips.
I've tried clearing the cache, thumbnails, deleting the preferences, re-importing the source. Nothing seems to make a difference. Which makes me think I've hit a bug, or I'm doing something silly...
    Any suggestions?
    Steve

OK, I've not figured out what went wrong.. exactly but I do have my suspicions...
I've fixed it by replacing any video that wasn't playing by re-importing the original source video. This took me quite a long time...!
The only thing I remember doing that may have caused issues, is running the 'Space Saver' option to delete unused clips. Now... I'm not saying this was the cause, but if you're still tweaking and tidying up, unless you're really low on drive space, I suspect leaving this option be is a good idea. Ditto goes for the consolidate option, I ran that afterwards, again it might well be blame free, but one of these two options did something bad...!
I've now got a video I'm happy with, and believe me, Time Machine is backing up my drive as I speak. Hopefully no-one else has this same hiccup, but veer away from any Space Saver, or Consolidate till you're completely done, and hopefully you won't share the same fate as me...
And if anyone at Apple is reading... AVCHD DVD export would be a lovely feature for an update on iMovie. HD playback on any Blu-ray player, but burnt to an ordinary DVD-R... Make it happen please, then I can retire my PC for good :P

  • When I drag a synchonised clip to timeline, can I turn off the video's audio track only without breaking apart clips?

I have preparred many clips by synchonising them with audio recorded on H4N - and have these in keywords.
When I drag them to the timeline, do I have to break apart each clip item to turn off the video's audio track or is there a shortcut to doing this?

For each clip you can go to the audio portion of inspector and uncheck/disable the tracks you don't desire. That would take longer than Tom's method, but I think the audio won't show up as a blank later on.

  • PPC G5 dual 2.0 Ghz go sleep and video goes off. funs run fast

    Hi,
    I have a PPC G5 2.0 dual model June 2004 (8 giga RAM)
    My problem is as follows:
    - I boot machine, I hear the "bong" sound and after few seconds (after gray screen with logo inside) funs begin to run fast and it goes in a kind of "sleeping mode".
    - Power led is on and blink slowly
    - if I type a key on keyboard or press power switch, machine goes on and video return. The boot seems to continue in background
    - after few seconds machine goes in sleep again
    - check if was dust on funs or liquid on the basement of MAC
    I tried to:
    - change battery inside
    - reset RAM
    - reset SMU
    - remove RAM from slot in the right way (strange thing happened about it...when only 4 slots remain with Ram bank machine doesn't boot and power led blink fast 2 times)
    - remove video card (Nvidia)
    - disconnect both internal HDs leaving connected just one for time
    - reinstall from DVD Osx on the other one HD. Install was successfull and during all the installation period, sleep happened 2 times
    Thank you everyone

I would remove the network card. May not be related, but it eliminates it. Is the firmware for this component up to date? That is the main concern, if it has sat there dormant, while you have kept the OS up to date, but I doubt you have updated the firmware for the card to match the OS Updates.
Replace the battery with a new one, for a few £ it's a cheap elimination, if it hasn't been replaced in the life of the computer it's a realistic suspect.
I would reset the PMU again after removing the network card and replacing battery.
If it still doesn't start, try a simple trick, get a hair dryer, warm the logic board in the region of the memory controller, above and to the right of the lower RAM bank, quickly replace the cover, and try to start the computer. If that works it may indicate bad joints in the chip mount to logic board. This can be a problem area on the G5 PM.
If you do get the computer going, install 'Temperature Monitor' and keep an eye on the Memory Control chip temperatures. Avoid activity which cause it to fluctuate a lot. I found active banner adverts on some websites caused it. I believe rapidly fluctuating temperatures over time cause stress fractures in the connections to the logic board, or elsewhere.
