Audio has static

I just loaded itunes and purchased a tune. When I play the tune it has some static and is not perfectly clear sound. Help

You will typically get static when the sound or music you are recording is too loud. The BlackBerry® smartphone's microphone, as with all microphones, have limitations on decibel levels.

Facetime users report that my Facetime audio has static

The built-in mic on MacBook pro seems to prouce static-laden audio when in use. I can't reproduce the problem on my end by recording something with the built-in mic, and when I switch to a USB mic while on Facetime, the problem goes away.
I'm using Mavericks 10.9.1 on an 13" early 2011 Macbook Pro.

This is a normal message sent by Apple if you have reset or reinstalled software on an Apple device and is there to make you aware that either (a) you have used your Apple ID on the device concerned, or (b) if you have no reason to believe that you have restored or reset a device, you have a potential security breach and should change your Apple ID security password.

The last few times I've used headphones in my iPad, the audio has been all messed up to the extent where it's better to just use the internal speakers and not the headphones. I've tried multiple pairs of headphones to no avail. Help?

The iPad was bought in mid-June, but I did not get extended Apple-Care warranty on it. Any idea of what's happenening?

Multiple means how many? If only 2 or 3, they could all be faulty. Try the headphones in some other device, to make sure they are OK. Or there could be something wrong with the headphone port.
Your iPad is still covered by the 1-year warranty so you should make a Genius appointment and have it looked at.
Another thing to try is to plug in the headphone jack a few times in succession to see if it frees up something inside the port.

also you could add more details as above info on its own is not enough to give you and objective answer

Working with clips after audio has been extracted

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to trim clips once the audio has already been extracted? I have tried to do this, but the trimming only applies to the video strand, leaving the audio full length (an out of sync).
Or does any trimming have to be done before audio extraction?

Go into the "timeline" mode (as opposed to the "clips" mode). Place the playhead at the point you want to make the cut. Click on the video clip, and you will be able to "split" the video clip. Leave the playhead alone, then click on the corresponding extracted audio clip below the video clip. You will be able to "split" the audio clip. You may then want to "lock" the audio clip to the video clip at the playhead, so that it stays in sync.
If you already split the video clip and moved it, you may be able to re-sync it with the audio by dragging the audio clip in the timeline mode. In addition, if you set the preference to snap to the beginnings of clips, you should be able to accurately re-sync.

iMovie works best with uncompressed audio. If your track is MP3 or AAC, you may get better results by converting your track to the AIFF format and then using that in iMovie.
You can do this in iTunes. Go to iTunes/Preferences and click the General button. On the General page, click the Import Settings button. Choose IMPORT USING: AIFF ENCODER.
(note: remember what you changed it from so you can change it back later, before you import another CD)
Now, in iTunes, select your track. Then click FILE/CREATE NEW VERSION/AIFF VERSION.

The audio driver listed is the Realtek ALC Audio Driver. You can download the Vista/Windows7 driver here:

Is this the driver you are having problems with? If not, suggest you uninstall current non-functioning driver package and install this one instead.

Audio has stopped on my MacPro with Yosemite.

The audio has stopped working. Was working fine earlier today. I have shut down and restarted several ways and times.

Finally figured it out. My "Sound Output" had changed to "Digital" for some reason. Once I changed it back to "Internal Speakers" it's all good.

Audio has gone on my K800.

The Audio has gone on my phone when I am connected to a call or have answered a call .I have to switch on the speaker each time now, to hear. However all tones and music are operational. I tried downloading the p.c.software, and then I tried to get it to repair the phone, but if could not do so. What can I do now?
Edited to say I forgot to mention that I also dropped the phone on the floor!

Audio has gone from loaded apps

My audio has gone from loaded apps, I have no idea why, my iPad tells me volume is high & I switched on keypad sounds but still nothing except when I'm using the Internet, BBC iPlayer etc, any ideas anyone please?

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. Anytime i plug in my headset, i get this message IDT PC Audio has stopped working

Anytime i plug in my headset, especially the micro phone plug into the port, first of all i get a pop up twice saying "cannot find.startup file". Then when i cancel the two pop ups, i get another saying "pop up IDT PC Audio has stopped working".
Then i try to continue with it using skype, as soon as i start dailing, i keep hearing the sound playin from the computer instead of the headset. when i play music from the headset in the same situation, i hear the music playing in the headset.
What should i do please. I need your urgent response

Audio has developed a static-y hiccup. I removed and replaced Firefox on ny Windows XP Dell laptop. The audio is fine on Internet Explorer.

I have a new problem with my Dell Latitude E6500 laptop. I use Windows XP and the latest version of Firefox.
Audio through websites has a jerky, static-y sound to. Youtube, Ted, Pandora, NPR: all the same. The only site that plays O.K. is a video on the Mozilla site.
This started when I downloaded a story from NPR to their player. It was bad, and everything since then, too.
I removed Firefox and downloaded it again.
Internet Explorer doesn't have this problem. Neither do CDs played through the computer.
Suggestions?

QuickTime always has static noise while playing audio

Every time I open an mp3 (or any audio file) in QuickTime, it plays a lot of static noise in the background. These audio files work fine in other applications (iTunes, VLC, etc) so i know the problem lies with QuickTime. I have tried re-installing it, but the same problem keeps occurring. Does anyone else have this problem and know what's wrong? I'm using QuickTime 10.3, on Mavericks 10.9.5

Audio Port has Static Sound

I noticed that when I connect my mbp to my: portable speakers, earphones, room surround speakers, there is Static emanating from it. Is this a normal problem? I doubt it is with the peripherals i am connecting because its already common among all of them, or maybe it still is connected to the peripherals.
I also noticed that when I connect the magsafe power adapter, the static increases, and when I take it out, the static decreases but the static is still present.
Is this a problem with the hardware? Should i have it checked in an apple store?

Often external hard drives can inject noise, particularly firewire units. I have two Seagate drives that have to be powered off when doing audio work. Finding the culprit is just a matter of elimination.
