Audio Hijack Pro + Quicktime X

Audio Hijack Pro can hijack Quicktime X, but I can't get it to record. It will still record Quicktime 7. I use this to record some late night talk radio for download to iTunes. Good thing Quicktime 7 is still on the computer (in the Utilities folder). I've contacted the developer (Rogue Amoeba).
From their compatibility website (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/status/), it looks like an update will be coming.

Weird. Sorry, no further ideas at this time. Perhaps someone else will have run across this and have a suggestion.
Meanwhile, you might try playing and capturing the audio file using QuickTime Player 7 which should be in your Utilities folder (if not, you can install it via the Optional Installs on your Snow Leopard install disk). That might work with Audio Hijack.
Regards.

  • Audio Hijack pro quicktime player audio sync issue

I am trying to record youtube videos using quicktime player (screen recording the game) and Audio Hijack Pro (recording the game audio and skype audio). The problem is, when I edit the video, the comentary on a cirtain event very gradually gets further and further from the event in the screen recording. Is there any solution for this? If so please tell me. Thanks.

Yes. I own it. I solved the problem. I had a trial version of another sound enhancement program called WOW. I removed it and the problem is solved. It was obviously running in the background even though I thought I had uninstalled it.
    All is well now.
    Thanks!

  • Audio Hijack Pro--What Did I Do?

Audio Hijack Pro used to work very well, until I used it to enhance the sound on my MacBook Pro (latest Lion OSX). One day, it started distoring everything played through it. Now, when I want to just get the audio off a video of guitar and banjo lessons to play on my iPod, the recordings are terribly distorted. Recordings and playback from all sources through Audio Hijack Pro--Itunes, Safari, Quicktime, etc.--are severely distorted with high frequency noise and reverb. It's as if the Effects are on, but they are not.
I am not very familiar with audio settings, and have Soundflower 2ch as the input device (used with IShowU). I tried removing and re-installing it twice. I changed to Default Input, etc., etc.
I have no idea why this program was working and is now totally useless. I'm asking for help. Somewhere, somehow, I changed a setting or settings, and now I can't make it work. There have been a couple of Apple software updates that may have something to do with this...
Any advice I can get will be greatly appreciated.

  • Please help me with Audio Hijack Pro!!!!

Guys, I am really trying to get my podcast back up and running, but I ran into a weird problem with Audio Hijack not too long ago. I have gotten this to work many times before, so this is nothing new. When I use AHP to hijack my microphones, and then use Garageband to record, after 10 min, I get static on one of my mics. Now, I have purchased this product, so it is totally legit, and I know that the trial gives you static after 10 min, but I have my code and the program took it fine. I have contacted AHP, but they basically had me delete a pref file and then reinstall it. It did not work. Can you think of any other ideas that I can try??? I really want to get this back up and running and it takes AHP a long time to get back to me. PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you!

I forgot to mention the reason I am using Audio Hijack pro is because i am using 2 usb mics.

  • Ways to record radio broadcasts using Audio Hijack Pro

If I download Audio Hijack Pro what is the simplest and most efficient way to download radio broadcasts ?
I have experimented using Garageband and my radio tuner with an audio cable connected to the 'audio-in' port without success.

I'm late to this discussion because I've had no problems recording my weekly 2-hour jazz show by inputting my Onkyo tune to my 2013 iMac vs. USB (Apple removed the audio-in jack--darn it).  I recorded them in Sound Studio (which unlike Toast has easily editable audio waves--and for digitizing LPs, I found I could be more accurate and achieve faster results that with Spin Doctor, which is bundled with Toast). I had no trouble.  That is, until now.  My recordings are suddenly all static.  I can hear my voice in the background but the recording is unusable for all practical purposes.
I can only infer that the problem may stem from my Onkyo receiver transmitting a regular FM signal (it's not an HD receiver).  The station that I broadcast from is HD (like many other public radio stations), so the main channel (#1) along with #2 and #3 are transmitting a high def signal, which will not have static (it's all or nothing, the signal is clear or it's non-existent).
Therefore, it appears I need a program like AHP to record the program direct from our station's internet site.  (I'm not clear if internet radio and HD radio are the same thing.  HD radio, of course, proved a bust, but internet audio seems no longer to provoke the little bit of complaint.  (10 years ago it was like 2 dixiecups communicating with a string.  A joke when compared to the best vinyl.  But now the AIFF and Apple Lossless files appear to meet the approval of audiophiles.)
I'm wondering if AHP is still the program of choice for recording sounds from my internet radio station (My Roxio Toast claims to have the capability, but it's proven highly buggy and undependable.)  Or would I be better advised to look for an external HD radio/tuner with audio out to go to my computer.  (Possibly a tall order these days with no one making HD radios.)

  • Why is Audio Hijack Pro only recording 31m of a 2 hour program?

I'm sure many of you are familiar with Audio Hijack Pro. I just bought it and can't figure out why it's only recording 31 minutes of a 2 hour stream. I read about various ways to route the audio back into Logic 8 but Audio Hijack Pro seems really easy.

You know, it's funny you mention the bit about registering it...
When I followed someone else's suggestion to check the schedule tab (which was turned off), the mere fact of me clicking on that tab (which I hadn't done previously) opened up a series of 3 installs (Soundflower, etc.), which was unexpected, yet promising somehow. It asked me to log off and restart. So that could be totally key. I'll see how it goes today. No worries about the registration thing. Btw, thanks to you and all the other people who have responded. The Rogue Amoeba people are helpful, but it takes 1-2 days to get a response, so it's been like watching paint dry. Cheers to you all.

  • MBP, Leopard, & Audio Hijack Pro Software

    Hi:
I have updated several audio programs (Airfoil, Sound Grinder, Fission) to work with OS 10.5 because thats what came installed on my new MBP.
    These updated programs work well.
However, the updated version of Audio Hijack Pro will not open properly....an error dialogue box keeps appearing.
At this time, I'm working with technical support at rogue ameoba to fix the issue, but am wondering if anyone else has experienced problems similar to this, and if so, have they come up with a fix.
    Thanks very much,
    Michael Stryker

    Hi:
In case anyone is interested, the issue here was using an older version of stuffit expander to open the program from its zip file.
This version of stuffit is OS 9 vintage and cannot properly handle symlinks (I think that was the name of the files). If you encounter this problem, you can force OSX to unzip your program keep all files uncorrupted.

  • Adjust output level of audio files in Quicktime export??

    Hello...
I have been using Quicktime to create little ringtones (take an audio snippet, export as .aiff then convert to MP3 for my cell phone). However, the output of these ringtones played on my phone, compared to some other ringtones I have, is VERY loud.
I was wondering if there is a way either with Quicktime (where I export the .aiff file) or with iTunes (where I convert to MP3) that I can adjust the audio output level of the file so that it is less loud??
    Thanks!!
    Scott

I WAS WRONG. But there is a solution... record a screen movie using Quicktime (System 10.7 and 10.8).
Open Quicktime, in the file menu select "New Screen Recording," run your Keynote Presentation and the movie with sound will record if you use Soundflower.
Soundflower is a free program that can record system sound with QuickTime X, download at <http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/>
In "Sound" system preference, set the output to "Soundflower (2ch)". (If you enable "Show volume in menu bar" you can Option-Click the volume icon in the menu bar to select audio devices.)
In QuickTime X's screen recording window, click the triangle near the top-right to select "Soundflower (2ch)" for the audio inout, then start recording. Keep the monitor volume slider in the recording window all the way to the left or else there will be echo on the recording.
You won't hear the sound while recording because it is going directly into QuickTime. If you beed to listen while recording, you will also need Audio Hijack Pro <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/> Hijack the application producing the sound and use the "Auxiliary Device Output" effect to send audio to "Soundflower (2ch)", then make the recording.
When using Soundflower to send audio to and from applications, you may find that you are not able to send audio through another device to monitor audio output. In such situations you can use Soundflowerbed, an application that resides in the Finder’s Menubar allowing you to tap into Soundflower channels and route them to an audio device. To start the Soundflowerbed menu app go to the Soundflower folder in /Applications and within it open Soundflowerbed.app.

  • Audio lost in quicktime export

In an older thread several users mentioned a problem of loosing audio when exporting to Quicktime. I just had the same problem and found a solution.
I placed a video that contained music audio in a master slide to run in the background. I then created animations of text boxes to put words over the video, and set timings for the words using "Record Slideshow" in the "Play" menu. Everything worked great until I exported to Quicktime. When I exported, the video continued playing but the sound stopped as soon as the first animation played.
Here's the solution that worked for me:
I extracted the audio from the video. This can be done in iMovie or other inexpensive video editing programs. I silenced the video's audio by selecting the video, then clicking the Quicktime tab in the Inspector, and reducing volume all the way. In Inspector I went to the Document tab, clicked on media, and dragged the extracted audio into media box. I then recorded the slideshow. Now the audio played during the entire slideshow when I exported to Quicktime.

I WAS WRONG. But there is a solution... record a screen movie using Quicktime (System 10.7 and 10.8).
Open Quicktime, in the file menu select "New Screen Recording," run your Keynote Presentation and the movie with sound will record if you use Soundflower.

  • Audio Hijack & Screensaver(s) [Not Working]

I am having a problem with Audio-Hijack PRO & my screensaver, and, I am hoping maybe someone here has come across this.
If I have a recording in Audio Hijack scheduled to go off at 3:00am, it has no problem bringing the monitor out of sleep, however, the screensaver or monitor sleep never kicks back in, and, I am a bit worried that this may do damage to my monitor.
Has anyone ever come a across any problems like this with audio-hijack ?
Another thing that happens is, if I start a manual record of the sound of the system, the screensaver never kicks in, and, the monitor never goes back to sleep.
This is really becoming frustrating, and, i am hoping I can get some answers here. if not, i appreciate you taking the time to read this.
Is there a setting in MAC OS X that you can set so programs running will still allow screensavers?

    Hi,
Did you burn a set of the HP Recovery Disks?  You mentioned that the reformat failed. Is that correct? Did you try a full HP Recovery?  If not, then backup your data to external media.  Boot up to the HP Blue screen and first try diagnostics and see how that goes.  If that is successful, then boot again up to the HP blue screen and try Recovery.
If you don't have a set of the HP Recovery Disks and the Recovery process fails from the HP blue screen then you need to order a set of the HP Recovery Disks from HP. HP Recovery Disks.

  • GeForce 6800, Screensaver and Timer of Audio Hijack

My G5 with GeForce 6800 wakes up from sleep fine after touching any key. First there is a picture of my screensaver for a split of a second and then the whole active screen. The sleep of the HD and the screen are set on default in System Prefs, Energy Saver.
When the Timer of Audio Hijack Pro is to wake up the machine for audio recording the picture freezes, screen doesn't open and the recording can't proceed because AHP application remains closed.
I've tried variety of screensaver and sleep settings but the Timer wouldn't wake up the machine beyond the frozen screensaver. If I eliminate screensaver the Cinema 30 screen opens up but is frozen. The clock isn't running until I touch the key. It looks like the Timer's impuls isn't strong enough and can't fully wake up the machine.
Could this be a conflict of 6800 with the Timer of AHP? Does it make sense? Has anybody experienced similar issue? I would hate to test it by removing 6800 and putting the 9800 back. In my old G4, without 6800, the Timer works just fine.

    Aside from Andy's reply:
10.8.5 runs as smooth or even smoother than 10.8.4 on my Mac mini. Sure, not an iMac, and none of the issues you report.
Sublime Text 2 Build 2221 appears to launch, open and save files quicker than on 10.8.4.
Your other third-party apps may require developer updates -- or not. Even IntelliJ Ideas 12.1.4 still has a JDK 6 installation requirement. Recommend the appropriate support community for IntelliJ.
Also recommend that you run Disk Utility and verify/repair permissions. I found some stuff post-install that needed that.
Update: Just saw your latest post. Good solve.

  • Audio Hijack content not dropping into iTunes 7

Since upgrading to iTunes 7, my Audio Hijack recordings don't drop in or at least I can't find them.

I have been having the same problem and I have been searching the web for answers FOR A LONG TIME. Surprisingly AHP support was no help and told me to contact Apple. All they offered me was the following, which I had already tried:
"Audio Hijack Pro can be set to send recordings to iTunes. With version 7, iTunes introduced a new sub-library system for sorting files. Bookmarkable MP3 files and Bookmarkable AAC files are now sorted into the Podcasts and Audiobooks sub-libraries, respectively.
    Bookmarkable MP3 Files
Bookmarkable MP3 files are sorted into the Podcasts section by iTunes. If this sub-library is not visible, select "Preferences" in the "iTunes" menu. In the "General" section of preferences, check the box to enable the Podcasts library. Click OK, and you should be able to select the Podcasts library to see your bookmarkable MP3 recordings.
    Bookmarkable AAC Files
Bookmarkable AAC files are sorted into the Audiobooks section by iTunes. If this sub-library is not visible, select "Preferences" in the "iTunes" menu. In the "General" section of preferences, check the box to enable the Audiobooks library. Click OK, and you should be able to select the Audiobooks library to see your bookmarkable AAC recordings."
When I drop an Audio Hijack Pro created MP3 into iTunes 7, nothing happens, the files do not show up and I am unable to play them. Curiously, they do appear in my Podcast folder in my itunes music. I love AHP, but this is devasting, just months after converting close to 1,000 vinyl released only tracks to MP3s.
Please, if there is a fix, enlighten me!

  • App Boom & Audio Hijack

    Hello,
so i was wondering if the application that apple put on their app store: Boom (http://globaldelight.com/boom/index.html) is better than the application Audio Hijack Pro (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/)?
My friend is telling me to get Audio Hijack Pro, but he also told me that his speaker on the macbook pro blew (meaning it wasnt playing sound anymore).... i know it seems as a stupid/obvious question but i wanted someones "professional" opinion, meaning why is one better than the other?
so thank you for taking the time to read.....

    DamienC wrote:
Audio Hijack is more to do with recording audio and then enhancing it.
But at the end no matter what you use, you must remember not to unnecessarily exceed the audio levels of your speaker.
I originally purchased AH Pro years ago specifically to increase volume of laptop speakers for watching movies etc.  It has since become my main audio recorder for importing old music (Analog --> Digital,) coupled with Fission software for editing. A very sweet one-two combo from rogueamoeba.
Heed DamienC warning you can blow your speakers no matter what if you are careless.
Here is a screen shot of AHP
