Audio hum in Photobooth videos on iMac

This just started happening on my Mom's computer, here's a demo video:

The audio was always totally clear in videos prior to today.
It's a 21" 3.06GHz running 10.6.4.

Remove any and all desktop speakers, connected speaker systems, headphones and the USB microphone.
Disconnect any and all other electrical devices from the same surge strip/wall plug that the iMac is plugged into.
Now reset the iMac's SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
+1. Shut down the computer.+
+2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
+4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+
Then test the iMac using only the internal mic before reconnecting any other non- essential devices.
Now then if that clears up the feedback problem, reconnect and test your other devices one at a time.
If not, then there is an internal problem with the iMac and it needs to go in for service.

On the iPad i can happily stream the audio over to my B&W Zeppelin Air, when watching a video. But this appears impossible on a Mac! eh?!
It works fine for audio. You can even have multiple speakers. but not for audio when there's video?! Is this something to be added in Lion or iTunes 10?! I hope so! Seems ridiculous i can do it on an iPad but not an iMac. I just assumed it would. Bizaar.

you should be able to do what you want using Airfoil.

No sound in imported photobooth videos into imovie

Very frustrated, as I need to edit my photobooth videos in imovie. I can import them with no problems, but for some reason there is no sound in the videos when I import them into imovie - although there is sound when I use a diferent video converter and in garage band for example, but imovie seems not to recognise the audio in these videos.
Please help as I urgently need to edit these videos for a deadline and I can't do anything with them in imovie at the moment.

Can hear audio but get no video in QT player or iTunes or Safari

I can hear audio, but get no video (ie just a blank window or the "first frame" of the video) when playing basic ".mov" movies using QT Player. I also get the same behaviour when trying to watch movie previews in iTunes. I get the same behaviour when trying to watch QT movies in Safari (for example the latest apple advertisements from apple.com), although ironically I was able to watch the entire Macworld keynote without a hitch in QT Player?!?!
I know my mac is now "getting on", but I know it is still capable of displaying "ipod" sized movie trailers in iTunes.
Real player, cameraid, graphic converter and btv pro can all play the movies QT Player cant. Firefox can play the movies that Safari cant play. Unfortunately there isnt an alternative for iTunes.
Can anyone give any reason or solution to the fact that the core Apple applications are unable to play Apples own movie format when out of date, 5 year old, 3rd party software can?
I have tried
1) deleting the QT plist files
2) reinstalling flip4mac, perian, realplayer and flash, and
3) have just updated QT an iTunes to the latest version.
Any ideas?
The only hint I can think of, is that when playing a movie in QT Player, if you minimise the movie to the dock, and then bring it back to the desktop....it displays the "current" frame of the movie which sits there "frozen" until you do it again ... and just repeating, audio is fine.

Yes Techmo, persistence is the secret.
After the QT 6.4.5 update once again made no difference, I gave up with a brand spanking new 2.8Ghz iMac only a couple of days away.
On cleaning out the old mac getting ready to transfer files to the new mac, I unplugged everything but (of course) power, keyboard and mouse.
I dont know why, but I tried a movie...and it worked like a charm.
I dont know what was plugged in that was giving QT grief, but I suspect it may have been my ageing Orange Micro iBot webcam. Too late now to find out (and I no longer care as I gaze on my new 24 inches of beautiful screen real estate), but for all those with this problem....try unplugging everything as I did and see what happens. At least it might be a starting point to solving your problem.
Strange it only affected Apples own applications though???

If the audio stream doesn't play, or loses synch, try moving the playhead forward/backward a bit. That should kick it back into synch.

60 cycle hum when capturing video

I am using a Canopus ADVC 110 connected to my Mac via RCA (from DVR) and USB (to Mac) When I capture video/audio directly to iMovie HD I get a very quiet (but noticeable) 60 cycle hum. You can hear it on my YouYube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBQNWYnHygs
Is there anything I can do?

At home - taking a close look at my ADVC-300 which resembles the ADVC-110 much.
On this there is on it's back. Left to right.
DV I/O FireWire (6-pin), S-Video out, three RCA - Video-out - R - Audio-out - L, DC in 5V (Power switch) and Component out.
DC in 5V - is the needed power from Mains adaptor to make it work.
On Front
Three RAC L- Audio-in - R and Video in, S-Video in and DV I/O FireWire (4-pin)
NO USB at all.
I use to connect the DV I/O FireWire (4-pin) to my Mac and VCR to Front side RCA-connectors.
(and back side RCA-connectors to a Reference Monitor (sort of TV))
This works greatly for me to Capture/Import VHS tapes (or Hi-8 or Video-8) to iMovie HD6 and iMovie'08 to 11 and FinalCut Express and FinalCut Pro 6.
DC IN 8v - I can not find and it can not be any thing like USB at all.

How to send out audio wireless from a video running on AppleTV?

Airplay its a great feature, I have one AppleTv First Generation and AppleTv Black (AppleTv 2) with ATVFlash, I was wondering how to leverage the airplay feature and send out wireless all de audio comming from my Movies playing in Apple TV?
I have a Onkyo Multiroom system and I would like to use it.
My iMac its connected directly to my amplifiers and from there I can send all audio to my home, I was figure out How to do it from Apple TV. I get a great app call Airserver and you can stream all your audio from iPhone, iPad to the iMac and the you can heard using the Onkyo.
Any help? Why the Apple Tv does not stream audio from movies, actually the first generation has this "Speaker" function and you decide where to send out the audio but just from audio files not from musical videos or movies.

Simple answer is:
AppleTV1 can send audio to Airtunes speakers on the network

Audio +20 lead to video

This is the first time I've had this problem. I captured about 30 min from 2 tapes (MiniDV) with 16-bit audio. The audio is leading the video by 20 to 23 frames, which is very noticeable. I did a capture now from the start of the two tapes through till FCP found the end. I am capturing to an Iomega 2 HD RAID connected with FireWire with FCP 5.0.4. I am running on an iMac G5 with 1 GB of RAM and a 2GHz processor.

I wouldn't know. I am using the DV-NTSC Easy Setup. In the item properties it says the Audio is 2 mono channels at 48.0 KHz.

Audio hum

i need help correcting an audio hum i get when i connect my mac mini with a hdmi cable to my onyko receiver. i do not get this hum with any other audio source for my receiver. both the receiver and the mac mini are plugged into separate grounded surge protectors. i have changed the hdmi cable to no avail.

Tube amps are very sensitive, and video signals are noisy, there is very little you will be able to do about this, I can hear a hum through my speakers and I have solid state.
I doubt its an earth issue in this instance.

How do I sync multiple audio clips to one video clip?

I have video (with stereo audio from a camera mic), and for each take, there are also four additional mono audio tracks that line up with it. It was footage shot outdoors in the city, so I guess the filmmakers just wanted to have as many options for sound mixing as possible given how much background noise there would be. I have tried selecting the video clip and the four audio clips at once and selecting "synchronize clips," but it doesn't work. It spits out a synchronized clip that seems to have converted two of the mono tracks into one stereo track... and then disregarded the remaining two mono tracks. It's a mess. It's likely someone else will fine tune the audio once I'm done cutting the video together... but I'd like to get all the audio tracks properly synced from the start. Thanks for any help you can offer.

But the question they are asking is the same one I am asking. Isn't this a typical situation, having multiple mics for one camera? For example, if someone filmed a concert with one camera but used both the camera audio, and ambient mic, and a mix from the board, then that would be 3 audio tracks with 1 video track. I'm in a similar situation, and I'm finding it hard to believe that FCPX isn't equipped to edit this way. There must be some way to get one video clip (with reference audio) to sync with four audio tracks.

Can you find the audio book by using the Search feature on the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync the audio book to the iPod?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Note you have to check the boxes in Books pane for the iPod in iTunes to sync books in general and another box to sync Audio Books.

No audio when playing YOUTUBE videos on ipod touch via a docking station

Hi there, when my ipod touch is docked on its docking station, it will not play audio on youtube videos, it will play the video but not the audio through the docking station speaker. It used to play audio without problems before, but recently it has stopped. When i take the ipod touch off the docking station the audio on the youtube video returns. any ideas why this has happened? it plays the youtube audio through the head phones too, i can play all other audio through the docking station speakers with out a problem.

There are no setting to change on the iPod.
Have you updated either the firmware on the car or on the iPod since they last played in the car?

I have the mini display port cable to hdmi. When I connect I can get audio but on the video I get the display auro screen and can't get my actual display to show as that is not what shows on my display. How can I fix this?

System Preferences>Displays
There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen
