Audio importing & regions

i'm tring to do something that i would think should be very easy. i have a cd of the recording of a recital. unfortunately, the person recording just left the recorder running the entire time. i want to split the 60 min audio file up into individual files, one for each piece performed. so i've imported the file into logic. no problem with that except that the region in the audio track is a quarter of a measrue long. i can double click on it to open a new window and see the entire audio file. but i can't change the length of the region in the arrange window, so i can do anything like cut it up into smaller regions. i tried just selecting and deleting all of the audio file except what i wanted on the first track. that worked, but the original file i imported was edited the same way. i had to import the file off the cd again to get the entire file. surely there's an easier way. anyone know what it is?
kevin

thanks for the quick replies. i actually found the answer in another post, which was to make the tempo slower. that makes no sense to me, but it worked (i set it to 40). about using a "more appropriate software," logic actually worked wonderfully once i could see the whole file in the arrange window. i cut it into separate regions to correspond to the individual pieces and bounced each region to a separate file. with option to add a copy to itunes checked, it was a snap to create a cd from the bounced files.

  • How to get the "audio import option" back in Captivate 7

I need to insert audio over 4 slides in a 43 slide presentaton.  How do I get the "audio Import option" back so I can do this?

    Hi there
Look at the timing for the slide. If the slide duration is long enough to accommodate the audio clip you will not see this dialog. The only way I've ever seen it occur is to ensure that the slide duration is shorter than the audio clip.
For example, try inserting a blank slide timed for one second. As long as the audio clip is longer than that, you should see the dialog when inserting the clip. But if the audio clip would play for three seconds and the slide itself is perhaps ten seconds long, there is no need to present the dialog.

  • To Delete Imported Region

    Hi,
I imported a region in the server with import command. Now i am getting an error with that imported region, how can i delete the imported region. Plz suggest me in this issue. Its urgent.
    Thanks in advance.

use jdr_utils.DELETEDOCUMENT (P_DOCUMENT) to delete the document, please provide entire path for the same.
In case you want to delete the package where the document was uploaded , use DELETEPACKAGE procedure(the package must be empty before you try to delete it, so first delete the documents in the package and then delete the package).
    Thanks

  • No audio imported after first clip

I have been dealing with this issue for about 3 weeks now. I can import the clip with audio when I import the very first clip but afterwards all clips have no audio imported into the project.
It is bizarre. I have not found anyone online having the same issue. I am using Premier Pro CC.
I will probably have to erase the application and reinstall, but I was hoping there was a simpler option.

here are two posts. Don't know if they will help you. I thought I saw posts like yesterday and day before. The links don't look like they will work, but they are a copy and paste from browser window.

  • Quantizing of Audio causing region corruption?

I have noticed that when I quantize, then de-quantize audio regions numerous times (trying to learn what works best in a given instance), the note placement eventually becomes way off, even with no quantize is selected. Why is this and what can be done to prevent it? Is there a way to restore an audio region back to the original file's condition?
This problem makes me not want to experiment until I know there is a way to get back to 'square one'!
    Thanks!

I need to do that {turn flex off} per track, no?
Not exactly. Flex can be controlled (i.e., turned on and off) on a per track basis, and also on a per region basis (except that it must be on at the track level if you want it to be on at the region level). So you can turn Flex off per track, but you're not required to turn Flex off per track, if all you really want to accomplish is turn Flex off for one region.
The Track Inspector has a menu for selecting Flex modes, and one choice on that menu is "Off." And this is the exact same menu that appears in the track header when you press ⌘F. That keystroke is the equivalent of this command in the Arrange window local menu: View > Flex View. It's also the equivalent of the Flex button in the toolbar. It's important to understand that showing and hiding Flex information is a separate matter from turning Flex on and off.
The Region Inspector has a checkbox called Flex. This checkbox only appears if Flex is turned on for the track hosting this region. The point of this checkbox is that you can turn Flex on for a track, and then make one or more regions on that track exempt from Flex.
The Flex button at the top of Arrange only turns on the flex View, correct?
Exactly. This has to do with what I said about the difference between enabling Flex and making Flex visible. Two different things.
Is it possible that although the original file is not changed, the Region being quantized could get messed up to the point of becoming unusable?
    I don't think so.
I think there is a chance that I am getting this problem and the varispeed/autopunch problems mixed up/mixed together
That could be. These features tend to overlap each other somewhat, so it's easy to get confused, especially if you're trying to use a bunch of new, powerful features all at the same time. But there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you're willing to tolerate the confusion. Then you can take a step back and examine each feature separately, to figure out what's causing what.
There might be less confusion if you learn one feature first, before you jump into another one. Some people might prefer that approach. But it's perfectly fine to take some chances and jump right into the deep end, as long as you realize that every now and then you'll be a little bit over your head. No harm done! It's just different approaches to learning, and you should take whatever approach suits you.
sometimes one problem is confused for another because we're just not sharp enough to make the distinction
This is what happens when you try to learn multiple advanced features at once, but there's nothing wrong with doing it that way, if you like to do it that way.
    Sorry for all the questions
Don't be sorry, that's what this place is for. And you're asking good questions that are also probably on the minds of lots of other present and future readers.

  • Advice for audio import and how do i find the item ID?

    Hi all,
I am a bit stuck and hoping for a bit of help. i need to add voice over to my project but i am a bit stuck as to the best way to do this. My project is in Chinese and has Chinese captions. I don't speak any Chinese at all.
In terms of the voice recording i don't know anyone that speaks Chinese so i am sending the text captions externally to get them recorded. As i don't speak Chinese i am a bit nervous about the import process and what the final output will sound like.
In my export document i can see each caption has an item id - my audio files will come back as an individual recording for each caption, i am assuming they will name the files the same as the item id in the word doc.
My question is - i have a slide with 4 captions - when i export the captions they are each assigned a unique item id - say the voice over person records each of these captions and then they are named with the item id - what is the most efficient way of importing them back in and assigning them to the correct caption? Is there a way of seeing the caption's item id within Captivate? if i could then i could check the caption's item id and then import the corresponding audio file to it. In the absecen of being able to see the item id how will i know which caption each audio fuile belongs to? i could try to decipher iot based on the caption's text and compare that to the text in the word doc but that will take forever and as i don't know any chinese is not very foolproof
maybe i am doing this all wrong and there is an easier way??
    Please help !
    Thanks
    Deb

If you printed the Network Configuration Page, then it SHOULD be on it. It's named 'Hardware Address(MAC)' on the page. If you don't find it there, which is highly unlikely and surprising, then look at the back of the printer for a white label with a Wireless and LAN symbol on it, and the Mac address will be there.
But to be honest, Mac Filtering is not the best form of security for wireless networks. It can be easily bypassed\intruded by wi-fi network hackers. It's better to assign a WPA or WPA2 security with a WPA key longer than 13 characters. This is nearly impossible to crack currently. So if they can't find the WPA key, they can't connect to the network... which will render Mac Filtering completely useless.
    Cheers.

  • Captivate 4 problems with audio import in powerpoint presentations

I am trying to import powerpoint presentations made in powerpoint 2003 which contain audio.
When I import them to captivate 4 I cannot hear the audion on each slide when I hit the play button.
Also, when I go to "Preview" "Play this slide (F3)" I get no audio.
If I "Preview" "Presentation" (F4) the audio plays very fast (like the "chipmunks").
If I "Preview" "From this slide (F8)" I get no sound.
If I "Preview" "The next 5 slides (F10)" I get no sound.
If I double click on the audio timeline and select the "audio" tab in the "Slide Properties" box and click the play button or edit the audio it plays normally.
I need to get this audio done ASAP.  Is there anyone who knows what is going on?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Out of sync audio importing from HandyCam

I am importing video, and for some reason the track is not in sync.
I am new to Premiere again (haven't used in it in almost 15 years) and can't seem to find a way to delay the audio back to where it belongs.
to be honest, i am feeling like this is the least intuitive program i have used by adobe ever.  I hope there is something simple i am missing. cause otherwise i am feeling rather 'new'...
    Any help is appreciated.
    PS.
i'm using this on an iMac (1.5 GB RAM) cause i can't use it on my Quad G5 (8GB RAM)seeing as though there is no support for 2 year old hardware.

When you say importing, from what camera, what format and how? Importing suggests from a non-tape based camera, or did you mean capturing from a tape based camera?
PP implies a pro oriented application, not an intuitive consumer oriented application like Elements. What is your feeling about After Effects? Is that intuitive?

  • Stereo audio imported as mono

Any ideas why the stereo audio on my miniDV tapes was imported as separate mono tracks? I'm using FCE HD 3.5 -- the tape was shot on a Canon XL1 using 12bit audio (32KHz, not reset after a project using 4 audio channels).
Are there any capture settings I missed that I could use to select the audio as stereo?
    Thanks,
    Sam

Are you sure that your camera has actually recorded 2 channels ?
I ask that because I got that problem a year ago. When I checked my camera and the tape I discovered it was just recording 1 audio track. On capture FCE was doubling it up to 2 mono tracks. It must have been a malfunction because the camera has no way of switching to mono.
Months later, after threatening the beast with dire consequences, it started recording normal 2 track stereo.
I have never discovered the cause of the problem.

  • Audio imported becomes mono

When I import a stereo audio file into GarageBand, GarageBand plays it in mono even though it shows two sound waves in the track. How do I get it to play back in stereo?

I'm not sure if this makes a difference but it might:
Did you just switch the input to Stereo *after* you dragged in your material and edited it or before? If you switched it to stereo after, the material may have already been converted into mono. You may need to start again with it set to stereo first if you want to bring the audio tracks into your project and maintain their stereoness.
(Or, if the problem is only with playback, are you going through a mixer with the left output panned to the left, and right output panned to the right? Sometimes unpanned outputs can make stereo sources sound mono)

  • Finding BPM of audio imported into project

    Hello all--
I bet there's an easy answer to this, but as a noob I'm not finding it in searches (though I find lots of related stuff).
I'm trying to tempo-sync imported audio to a midi tempo in a project. Is there an easy way to analyze the tempo of the audio, so that I could maybe bring it close to the midi tempo and then fine-tune? The Time Machine demands the original tempo before alteration is applied (destination tempo), but I don't know how to get that without educated guesswork with the metronome. I guess I would then use Time Machine, Beat Mapping or quantizing, or some combination of the three. Probably I'm missing something real obvious, but I've humiliated myself before in the name of "art" (or something like it). Thanks to all!
    later,
    John

Thanks for your reply, Donald. I tried the BPM Counter (which I didn't know about, and I'm glad I do now), but unfortunately it didn't work because my audio is acoustic rhythm guitar and vocals, not pronounced enough in the transients for the Counter to grab.
When you say "I put a drum set on an instrument track and program in a midi click playing along with the audio," do you mean playing the track along with the Klopfgeist click, and setting it by trial and error? That seems like the "educated guesswork" that I thought I could do, but hoped I would find something both time-saving and more precise than I would do that way. Maybe you could correct my thinking on that if you have anything to add.
    Thanks again!

  • Premiere Pro CC, Dolby Digital License missing for MTS / AVCHD audio import?

    Hi,
I'm running Premiere Pro CC on Mac 10.8.4 importing MTS files captured on a new Panasonic V720 Camcorder that records MTS / AVCHD files.
When I add the files to my project or drop them onto the timeline, the video appears fine but there's no audio and I get the warning message:
"This installation does not have a license to decode Dolby Digital audio".
I've tried switching from 5.1 to 2-channel audio on the camera in case that was the issue, no change.
The file plays fine on the mac with VLC player or MPlayer - mplayer is decoding audio with the FFmpeg AC-3 codec. I've imported MTS files created with other cameras (but presumably with different audio codecs) into Premiere fine with my current setup.
Any suggestions for getting this video and audio to work correctly?
    Thanks!

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.  I have checked my audio preference settings and don't really see anything in there that looks helpful...the following are my settings:
The LG TV is actually hooked up through a 7.1 receiver...I'm not sure why it registers the home theater unit as the tv....but 5.1 does play through my PC just fine with every other program.
I've been playng around with the various export settings and have found that I can successfully export 5.1 audio using the H.264 preset and switching the channels in the audio tab to 5.1.  You cannot, however, do the same with the H.264 Blu-ray preset as it requires the above mentioned SurCode for compression.  I'm guessing that means the non-Blu-ray preset is then uncompressed?
The projects that I'm setting up are very basic.  I'm just using a single mp3 import and snapping it to one of the rear speakers.  While editing, the sound does fade from the front channels but nothing comes out of the rear channels.
I guess I'm just having a hard time understanding why PPCC can export 5.1 but not play it back while editing....
    Thanks again for the responses

  • Render video pon audio import from Soundtrack Pro

Unique issue I have here. My video is standard NTSC Animation Codec and is in my Sequence in FCS2. I import my project into Soundtrack Pro edit my audio, Export back into FCS 2 (following the manual to insure proper steps).
Once I arrive back into FCS2 my video needs to be rendered. It checked the codec and everything matches up fine. Why is it now asking me to render mt video?

    Paul,
Did you edit to picture inside STP? And was it in sync there?
You may have an issue with a frequency shift. Audio doesn't have frames. It really runs in "real time." So if you shift frequencies the units per second change. It still has the same number of units, so ultimately the time changes.
How did you get the audio into STP in the first place?

You're using an application that was written and tested several years before that operating system even existed. Windows 7 is not a supported operating system for Afer Effects 7.
