Audio in and Audio out - MacBook Pro

Hello!
I'm interested in purchasing a MacBook Pro mainly for music production (I'm kinda new to the whole DJing scene) and I noticed a small difference between the 13' and 15' models. The 15' model includes a separate Audio in and Audio out while the 13' has only one Audio in/out exit. Does anyone knows what's the difference between the two? What can I do with a separate Audio in and Audio out exits like in the 15' model? Is it worth paying the extra $700?

Yes it is, the 13" is rather lacking on a lot of things, including the video card.
Mac's have optical audio in/out ports in the stereo mini ports, which produce clearly audiophile level music.
If you want to impress people, marry a 2.2 Ghz 15" or better MBP to a quality receiver and speakers with a optical Toslink adapter and cable and you'll "WOW!" them for sure. Hear the full quality of iTunes music you have been paying for and listening on crappy iPods and their cheap headphones.

Audio pops and crackles on MacBook Pro

Help!!!
I have a Late 2011 15' MacBook Pro, 256gb SSD, 750gb (7200) and 16gb RAM. When listening back to music after about 30 seconds to a minute the sound starts to randomly pop and crackle. I've go to find a fix for this.
I am running 10.8.4. I have already reinstalled Mountain Lion, reset the SMC and reset the PRAM. Nothing seems to work.
It doesn't seem to be a hard drive issue as it happens on any hard drive I'm playing from.
I haven't heard it using the onboard speakers. I've only heard it so far with my external speakers connected through USB. This makes me think it could be a USB problem.
Does anybody have any other suggestions? I'm going mad!!

I think I figured it out. I found a firmware update for my audio interface (REM - Babyface) and so far so good.

Firewire audio interface and drive on Macbook Pro?

Apologies if this is in a FAQ which I can't find.
I have been recording on the internal drive of my MacBook Pro up to now, with a MOTU896 (notHD) but want to buy an external drive, partly to save wear on the internal.
My last experience of this was in the days of bronze G3 swhere it was advised not to run a drive and an audio interface on the same firewire bus - in fact, I experience glitching when I tried to do this. Perhaps this is no longer an issue? I'm recording at 44.1/24 but do want to be able to record 8 simultaneous tracks.
Is it best to get an extra FW port via the slot on the side of the computer?

Audio Hijack and PowerBook or MacBook Pro?

Hi all..
I currently have a PowerBook Ti and a MacBook Pro on order... I'm a big user of Audio Hijack and recently I wanted to digitise my Vinyl Record Collection for a Wedding DJ gig that I'm doing in February. I read the documentation on the Audio Hijack help guide and bought the *"In most cases, you'll need a stereo mini-jack (1/8") patch cable coupled with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter, like these from Radio Shack"* that was suggested.... but when I selected the Audio In... all I got was a microphone... so when I went to play the file... it was nothing but a recording from the mic. Do I now have to purchase Griffin iMic... or will my new MacBook Pro have a better Audio In port??
Any comments most welcome....

That was excessively complicated, and NOT how you import CD's into iTunes. I have imported nearly 1000 CD's into iTunes and never once, not once, have I fulled around with folders. That is done in preferences. That's not how iTunes works. William needs to post his question to the iTunes for Mac forum, where much easier solutions will be provided.

Check to see that external video is turned on.
View > External Video > All Frames. and
View > Video Playback > Apple Firewire PAL/NTSC.

Audio in and audio out is not working in imac after i install lion 10.7

i have a imac i update my mac to lion 10.7
after that i open grageband and it sayes no adieo in and out are found
and i also loke in the grageband preference and i loke in Audio /MIDI
and audio output say no drive found and in is same thing
but on MIDI Status it sayes 1 midi input found

Hi there! I want to transfer some MP4 audio recordings from iPhone to MacBook Pro. The only option I'm being given is via e-mail or message but the audio recordings are too long to send in these formats so I would like to bluetooth from iPhone to MacBook Pro.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and now my MacBook Pro won't start up.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and moved the system.kext and two others to my desktop and deleted the originals and now the MacBook Pro won't start up. All I get at start up is the apple icon then a bunch of text shows up part of which says Mac OS version: not yet set. then the apple icon turns into the power icon and tells me to turn off the computer. I've tried reinstalling from the install DVD by holding down option when powering on and selecting the install DVD and it just goes to a white screen with the apple icon and stays like that. I didn't have the disk utility on my Mac before this happened because I deleted it to make room on my computer a while ago so I'm not sure if that's why it won't load the install DVD but anyone who knows the solution to this with out going to get it repaired would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Never mind my dad just found the original install DVD and that worked. Before I was using an install disc that Apple sent me for another issue I was having, but thanks for replying so quickly and trying to help on this Thanksgiving day!!!

Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. Note, turning on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases may tie the device to that account for 90 days - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 https://discussions.apple.com/message/18484935 - "In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. Maxed out MacBook pro or Mid level MacBook pro with Retina?

I am entering my first year in university in the next couple weeks. I am going to be studying commerce for the next 4 years. I want a macbook that will last me for the 4 years and still be a good product at that time period. Now I am wondering if I should spend $2000 on the maxed out MacBook pro or 2600 for the midlevel MacBookmacbook pro with Retina display. Looking forward to great feedback. Thanks

It depends on how far you want to go - and how much you want to spend - in maxing out the computer. Let me visit the Apple Store -

This will be a 'stock' item and has the maximum amount of RAM that Apple will install and is $2,199. The only modifcation to make on this model is the CPU and hard drive, as it also comes with the maxed out VRAM for the NVIDIA graphics card. I wouldn't go for the extra speed bump on the CPU - it's just not worth it. What is worth the extra money is an uprade to the hard drive - from the 750GB 5400-rpm to the 750GB 7200-rpm for an extra $50. If you really want to max it out, of course, you could add the $900 option of the 512GB SSD, but I wouldn't do that - simply too much to pay. So for $2,249 you could get:

...and have a very fast (not warp speed, but fast) computer that should you ever decide to upgrade, you can.
As for the Retina display, it's simply something that I would not invest in at this time. The 'base' model, with only 8GB of RAM is $2,799.00. Increase that RAM to 16GB, and you're looking at $2,999. The extra $750 just isn't worth it. And with few applications taking advantage of the Retina display (if they ever do) you're going to be looking at pixelated tools, text, etc., for who knows how many years. You could get by running only Apple applications, I suppose, but I'm just not ready to be placed in that kind of restrictive mode... are you?

Read the user manual that came w/the printer/scanner, contact Epson to see if you need to update your scanner drivers to work in Mavericks also check Software Update. Check out the following links:
