Audio in Captivate 5.5

Hello,
I just upgraded to Captivate 5.5 from Captivate 4.0.  The audio I record in 5.5 sounds like it was recorded in a tunnel but when I use my microphone with 4.0 it sounds fine.  Is there a certain brand/type of microphone that works well with 5.5?  Any thoughts on reasons why this might be happening?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide!
Amy

I use a Blue Yeti HD mike (resonably priced about $100) and it works great.  I am not familiar with Cap 4.0 but I know 5.5 has calibration for mike input, don't know if you tried that.  Another thing you might try is to record the audio else where (like sound recorder) see what it sounds like (I am assuming no tunnel effect) and then import into 5.5 and see what the audio sounds like..Might help you narrow down if it is the mike or captivate.

  • Question on audio and Captivate?

What best practices do you have for incorporating audio in Captivate and minimize file size.CP 3 converts MP# to Wav. Was that addressed in CP 4?

    Hi there
Even though Captivate converts WAV to MP3 and Vice-Versa, only MP3 is actually used in the output created by Captivate.
    Captivate 4 doesn't change this.
Although I'm admittedly guessing here, I suspect the WAV format must exist inside the CP file for the purposes of Audio Editing. It would be great if one of the Captivate development team were to pop in about now and either confirm or deny that suspicion!

  • Neospeech only generates 1 sec audio in Captivate 6? Error

I am new to Text to Speech in Captivate but am dabbling. I have installed the NeoSpeech content and have selected Paul as the voice I want to use. I generate audio and then preview it and it only creates 1 second worth of audio. If I change the voice to one of the standard none Neospeech voices then Captivate generates the full audio and it lasts 36 seconds. However switching back to a Neospeech voice does the same. I tried Bridget and got the same problem. It seems to only create 1 second of audio and the process of creating audio is much faster as if it is just not going through the full body of text. Can anyone shed any light on where I am going wrong or if somethings needs fixing what that might be?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    regards,
    Jay

Not really that strange...this has been a problem for a long time (years). I always make sure I type out the two words to avoid the error.
Sorry, I was going to suggest this earlier but just got busy and forgot to respond
    Glad you found it.

  • Recording System Audio in Captivate 6

I am running Captivate 6 on Windows 7, but i don't see the option of recording System Audio during capture. Please advise ...

This option only came in with Captivate 6.1 Subscription Edition.  It's also in Cp7.  If you do not have these versions you won't see it.

  • Exporting Audio from Captivate 5.5

    Hello,
Please accept my apology if this question has already been posted in this forum, I searched but didnt see this particular question.
My department currently has Captivate version 3.3. We would like to upgrade to Captivate 5.5 so we can take advantage of the NeoSpeech TTS (Text to Speech) application bundled with Captivate 5.5. Does anyone know if the TTS audio can be exported to different formats from Captivate? If I remember correctly it was possible to do it in Captivate 4.0. We looked at NeoSpeech software as a single license for a whopping $1,000.00/license, per year. We thought upgrading to Captivate 5.5 was a better option at $495.00.
    Thanks
    Andrea

Thank you so much for that worked with no problems at all

  • Problems with the audio in Captivate 4

    Hi,
I'm working with Captivate 4 trial version  and I have problems to add audio from a microphone, so, my question is, if the trial version has this option available or I need to buy it to get the option activated.
    Thank you,
    Gloriella.

    Welcome to our community
First off, while you say you are using Captivate 4 trial, hopefully you are aware that you may not actually purchase that version. Adobe now offers version 5.5 and if you choose to purchase, that's the version you will get. (Unless, of course, you are purchasing the older version from a software reseller. I guess that's possible)
At any rate, the trial is fully functional. Nothing (other than time to use it) is restricted.
I do suppose that you might be missing a patch that would possibly address an issue.

  • Soundbooth CS4 audio to Captivate 4

I’m trying to create recordings in Soundbooth CS4 and import them into Captivate 4 and am unable to do so.  I realize that I can save the files as mp3’s (this import DOES work within Captivate), but that requires an extra step that really makes the process cumbersome, especially when dealing with a number files.
This is the first time I’m using Soundbooth with Captivate 4.  I’ve never had this problem using Audacity and Captivate 3.  I understand that Captivate 4 is supposed to import .wav’s, but I keep getting the “unable to decode and import” error.  I’ve scoured these forums for answers and tried the following to no avail:
    Soundbooth Settings
SOUNDMAX HD Soundcard in Windows XP Professional (service pack 3)
Recording at 44.1 kHz 16 bit MONO
    All metadata settings turned OFF
    Captivate Patches
I’ve installed the updates for Captivate CS4
I’ve downloaded and installed the NSAudio.dll and registered it by running “regsvr32 NSAudio.dll”.
Any further suggestions for remedying this problem will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hi there
Have you tried exporting as WAV and reimporting? Perhaps a WAV would provide different or better results.
I do recall there was an issue that emerged with Captivate 4 (drawing from memory here) where there were audio issues. See if the link below helps.

  • Disable countdown when Recording Slide Audio in Captivate 5

    Hey guys/gals,
I already recorded all my slides, and am now going back to record the audio for each slide.  For every slide when I try to record audio, it pops up the 3 second countdown.  This is insanely annoying - I have hundreds of slides, so this is wasting a ton of time.  I dont see any options to disable this countdown.
NOTE:  I have already read the discussion (which is incorrect BTW) saying that if you have pre-recorded your slides and add audio afterwards that the countdown wont appear - this is not true... the countdown pops up no matter what you do.
    Any suggestions / work arounds?
    Thanks a ton!

    Hi there
Sorry, but I have no workaround to offer. I'm only posting to encourage you to report this to Adobe as a Feature Request or a Bug (depending on your view)
Link for doing that is in my sig line.

  • Having someone else record audio in Captivate 5 presentation

Does anyone know how I have someone else record on an captivate 5 presentation if they don't Captivate? I have created online training and I need it translated. They do not need to publish, or create the presentation - they just need to record audio. I had the functionality in Adobe Presenter and I am hoping that it exists in Captivate 5. - Please help!

    Welcome to our community
Generally speaking, they can just watch your finished Captivate presentation and use an audio recording application such as Audacity, SoundBooth or other to record the narration. Then they supply that back to you as one or more WAV or MP3 files. You then insert those files into your Captivate projects and re-publish.

  • Compressing audio in Captivate 5 from 44mhz to 22mhz

Hi all, using TCS 2.5 on Windows 7, 64 bit. I'm trying to compress the imported audio (mp3s) in my Captivate project from 44 mhz to 22 mhz. I used to do this (in Captivate 4) by going into Audio >> Settings >> Selecting 22.050 mhz from the choices. This isn't there anymore and my file size is quite large.
Does anyone know where this setting is now located in Captivate 5?
    Thanks,
    Adriana

  • Audio in Captivate 2 not syncing

I have Captivate 2 and had to renistall. Now when I play back the file to review it, if I skip ahead to the next slide, the audio doesn't keep up. It either starts over or continues on if I move back a slide. It never did this before and a colleague doesn't have this issue. Is it a setting issue or a browser issue? Help!

  • Audio in Captivate 5.5 - Best Hardware?

Does anyone have recommendations for the best headset/hardware to use to enhance audio?
Also, suggestions for settings in  Captivate that enhance audio?

Nowadays I prefer to use good quality USB podcasting microphones instead of headset mics.  The diaphragm in a headset mic is tiny by comparison and you can never get the bass response you want.
I use Blue Yeti, Blue Snowball, and Rode Podcaster.
If you want to enhance the audio, you really need to use an audio editing package.  For free you can get Audacity.  For money, go with Adob Audition.  Better yet, buy the E-Learning Suite because after buying Captivate and Audition separately you could almost have afforded the suite.

  • Headset not recording audio in Captivate 7

I can't get any sound recording when using Captivate 7 on PC. Using Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000 USB headset. Works fine in all other apps. Tried 3 separate MS LX3000 headsets and external USB mic. Works fine for two other coworkers with exact same hardware setup and audio settings. Any solutions?

Are you launching Captivate with Run As Administrator privilege?
If one of your co-workers logs onto your PC with their user profile, does the same microphone that doesn't work for you work OK for them?

  • Flash audio in captivate

I have imported some flash content with audio into my
captivate presentation. The flash content is on slide 5. When I
publish the captivate file and play it in internet explorer the
audio from the flash content plays on the first slde. Is this a
common problem? and if so how can I work around this?

I am having a similar problem where flash audio loops plays again on the slide after the one with the flash swf.  Like it's replaying the sound twice, looping is not turned on... I've had multiple problems with flash and captivate like the new CS4 3d transitions just make it go balistic.
