Audio in movie burned to DVD missing or sporadic.

I have converted a movie to Quicktime using MPeG Streamclip; something I have done numerous times.  The converted movie plays fine with good audio on my iMac hard drive.  I want to simply burn the movie to a DVD (without turning it into a project).   But, after burning the movie to a DVD the audio only comes though sporadically and out of sync,  AND it seems the DVD does not want to respond to my "control".  Meaning, when I hit the stop button the DVD continues to play a bit before stopping.  I have burned a number of DVDs with this burner - succesfully I might add - and this is the first I have had this problem.  Is it possible the burner is failing or is there another problem I am missing?  Thanks!

Further to the above problem, I burned a DVD of the same movie in another machine and have the same problem with the playback. The sound plays only intermittantly.  Seems is may be a problem with the conversion of the movie but still hoping for feedback from the community.  Thanks.

Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty.  That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.
If there is an item in there drag it out.

  • Playback movie burned to DVD from iPhoto

When I burn a movie to a DVD from iPhoto I get an error message on playback that says "the movie contains an invalid data reference and will not playback". Any suggestions?

Also, the movies don't appear on the DVD when I play it in the DVD/Blue Ray in the other room.
You can't burn a DVD like that with iPhoto. You need an authoring application like iDVD or Toast to correctly format the disk.

  • HT4072 Can I play audio from movies in the DVD player using iTunes or Airplay?

I would like to play audio from movies in the MacBook DVD player using iTunes or Airplay? Is this possible?

Is it important that the music come from a video, or are you just looking to listen to music in the background, while doing something else.  If the later, you can certainly play music from the Music App, Pandora, or iHeart Radio, etc., and with the music playing, tap your home button to go to your home page and open anything else you want and the music will continue.
I don't have any videos to try out right now, but you try the same thing out and if the music continues, it works.  If it doesn't, it doesn't.

  • Watching Movie Burned to DVD on Television

I have recently just started using iMovie and iDVD to capture the video that I am taking of my hockey team that I coach. Each game "tape" is about 45 minutes in length, which comes out to about 10GB on my computer when I import the video. As I understand it iDVD will compress this for me so that it fits on one DVD. What I would like to know is if after I have done this and burned the DVD, when I watch the movie, how large will the resolution be? The reason I ask this is I want to be able to use the DVD to put in a DVD player and show on a television to my team to go over the game in our video sessions. Previously, I have just connected the camcorder to the television and done it that way. However I want to save the game videos for later use and do not want to have to keep a bunch of tapes. Thanks.

As you mentioned, iDVD will compress, that is remove certain amount of data per frame, but if you keep your iMovie of each game or practice to less than 60 minutes, the viewing quality of the resulting DVD will be more than sufficient for viewing on TV with a DVD player. The key as far as the DVD itself is concerned is the bit rate, which for the compression involved for a 45 minute video, is about 6 million Bits per second. VHS is (was?) about 2 million bits per second when everything was working. Use Best Performance in iDVD (open iDVD Preferences and look within General) for burning and keep the Themes simple.
The key to the quality in the DVD is the "production" quality that you can achieve during your video taping and for your purposes that may be mainly lighting and color, assuming your video camera is high quality. Having more than one camera recording the game also helps. The idea is to reduce the amount of camera movement as much as possible. Lighting, color and movement(motion) all impact compression process prior to the burn.
As you may know, there is some compression by the video camera to record onto the tape so you are starting with already compressed material.
Although you seem to prefer DVD to tape, tape actually provides greater video detail and color is often better.
Tape is always available for editing, while DVD requires a lot more work to retrieve old material. As long as they are kept in their plastic boxes, tape is more resistant to abuse, such as scratches. And if you are not planning to archive your videos, you can the same tape several times before seeing significant problems during playback. Tape is the preferred medium for archiving.

  • Audio drops when burning to DVD PE9

all aspects of my video and audio look and sound great....until i burn to dvd.  then the audio drops so low that i have to turn the volume up to max to hear it slightly and there is a loud humm with it.  I've used mpeg and avi files with no problems in the past. help needed

Most likely the software that you're using to create this DVD isn't saving the audio in a standard camcorder mode.
In fact, because there are red lines above the clips on your timeline, it's most likely not saving the video in a standard camcorder AVI either.
Open one of your video clips in a program like G Spot and see what it says about your audio and video specs and codecs. Chances are it will give us clues as to why your audio and video is performing so badly.

  • Simple movie burn to DVD

Is there any easy way to take the IMovie 09 project I have created and just burn it to DVD without all the theme and chapter garbage? I just want my movie on a DVD...not all the themes and crap. Seems like it should be an easy thing...but I can't find a way to do it. Thx.

    Hi
    a. iMovie'08 & 09 are not tools of choice when aiming to do a DVD
    • iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut (any version) are far more better
    b. There are two types of themes. The one in iMovie and the one in iDVD.
    • iMovie - Just don't use them if You don't like them
    • iDVD - There are several ways to do a "Non Menu" DVD and is well discussed
    in iDVD-forum
I like to drop my movie in the upper left most box in iDVD box-layout diagram
    (called Auto-Play box)
and using a very simple Menu as OLD - Brushed Metal
This I modify by adding a black photo and deleting all texts. (Now it looks like Nothing)
    Then select loop.
This will give a very close to NO Menu DVD
Else see in iDVD forum. (at least two more alt.)
    Yours Bengt W

  • Losing audio when I burn the DVD a second time

When I burn a DVD all is well, but when the system prompts me to insert another DVD, then subsequent ones come up mute.
    Jean

Create a disk image file of your iDVD project and use that for subsequent burns.
From within your iDVD project, select 'save as disk image.' The process looks like the burn process, and the encoding takes just as long, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk. You can check the disk image file to see if it plays properly by clicking on it to mount it and then opening DVD Player (found in Applications). If the disk image file plays correctly, all the disks you burn with it will be fine. Be sure you use a good recommended brand of DVD disk such as Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Also, select a burn speed of 4x or less.

  • I movie burned to DVD

I have completed my movie in IMovie and I now want to burn it to a DVD. How do I do that?

If you have a DVD Burner and iDVD installed in your Mac, you can do it like this:
    Exporting a movie to iDVD
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/6.0/en/imv1081.html
It would also help if you would fill out the questions in "My Settings" to the right of this screen. That way we know all about your set-up.

  • Registry settings for burning CDs/DVDs missing when Itunes installed

I have recently had to reinstall ITunes following a computer crash. I am unable to burn to CD - when I start up ITunes I am told that the "registry settings are missing" and am told to reinstall, which I have done without success. I have not loaded any other CD/DVD burning software, and can burn CDs using other programmes. Any ideas? Thank you.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Colors Less Saturated when Movie burned to DVD

Colors are quite a bit less saturated on burned DVD in comparison to the way video looked in IDVD. I am burning to Fuji DVD-R at Best Quality. This was my first movie, a test movie of about 5 minutes duration.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Yes, NTSC, and to a lesser degree, PAL, is really, really bad at color fidelity especially when it comes to saturated colors. I'm not sure if iDVD is applying any auto-dimming or not, but it's not surprising that the colors as they appear on your computer monitor pre-conversion are not exactly replicated.
This is one of the reasons that most pros and advanced ameteurs use a video monitor while editing their footage. It gives you a better feel for how the final product will look as opposed to relying upon the computer screen.

  • Can anyone help me ? - i Movie - Burn CD / DVD

Hoping someone can help me. My son has edited a video in i movie which is now sitting in his project libary ( version 2009 ) he needs to burn this edited video onto a CD / DVD. I am sorry to be asking such simple things, but how do I go about doing such a thing successfully ??. Also he needs to be able to play this video, once burned, on a PC.. can this be done without any issues ? Thank You ...

Okay, so exactly how old/what model is your Mac? Go to the Apple > about this Mac > more info > System Profiler (or System Information/Report) and take a screenshot or post the info here (without the serial number) - like this:
Then, scroll down a bit and post this:

  • Watermarking a movie / Burning to DVD

I'm trying to put a watermark (individual's name) on a film in imovie and then make a playable dvd of it.  But when I create in imovie, then export to idvd and burn it from there, it turns out looking terrible (soft and distorted picture).  Any tips on better steps I can take to get the true picture quality?  Is it possible to do title watermarks in idvd?  Thanks!

Sadly, breaking the encryption on a commercial DVD, a necessary first step in copying it, is illegal in the U.S. Because it's illegal, the terms of use of these forums prohibit us from discussing software or methods. Sorry.

  • Keynote + movies - burn to dvd

    Hi all,
I have a Keynote presentation that includes QT movies on some of the slides.
My first problem was to launch a transition only after the movie was played, which I solved by timing the video and asking keynote to do the transition after that time (I found that solution a little weird.. I wished I could just say "do transition after movie is played, but welll...)
Anyhow, I wish to transfer the presentation onto dvd. When I export to iDVD or QT, the options presented only allow me to set the same time between transition for ALL the slides, which bothers me a lot, for obvious reasons.
Any bright ideas to help me solve that problem ?
I'm starting to wonder whether I have to move to DVD SP and redo my whole thing with scripts and slides and movies (imagine my excitement)....
Help would be greatly appreciated since I need this project ot be done by next Wednesday...

You can playback on the computer, an iPod or Apple TV or back up to a hard drive, CD etc.
But making a DVD (like you think of renting from Blockbuster) against the rules (though a bit unclear since you can back up your purchases)
