Audio in Mplayer but not in SMplayer

I'm new to Mplayer I'm afraid, i'm used to using VLC. So basically, I've set "ao=alsa" in ~/.mplayer/config and if I do "mplayer blabla.avi", the audio works. But if I open a video using SMplayer, I get no audio... Do they use different config files?
Here is the Mplayer command from SMplayer:
mplayer -noquiet -nofs -sub-fuzziness 1 -identify -slave -vo xv -ao null -zoom -nokeepaspect -input conf=/usr/share/smplayer/input.conf -stop-xscreensaver -wid 39845900 -colorkey 131586 -monitoraspect 1.6 -subfont-autoscale 1 -subfont-text-scale 5 -subcp ISO-8859-1 -aid 1 -subpos 100 -contrast 0 -brightness 0 -hue 0 -saturation 0 -ss 26 -osdlevel 0 -vf-add expand=osd=1 -noslices -vf-add screenshot -channels 2 /mnt/autofs/download/download/Six Feet Under - 3x02 - You Never Know/six.feet.under.s03e02.dvdrip.xvid-ffndvd.avi
I'm guessing the "-ao null" is the problem? But how do I change this in SMplayer?

I must be blind, but I really didn't see any options there related to selecting an audio output?

  • Audio in menu but not in movies

I've built a DVD with music in the menu screen, and 4 mpeg2 movies. When I preview the disc in iDVD I get audio everywhere - the menus and in my movies. When I play my movies with Quicktime they work perfectly. Yet when I burn my project to DVD or Disc Image I get audio in the main manu, but not in my movies - they are silent. I have tried reimporting my movies and deleting all converted assets and I get the same problem. I have also tried changing the compression scheme used - nothing fixes my problem.
Can anyone help me here ? Is iDVD'08 really broken or something ? Any news on a fix from Apple ?

    Hi
Mixing audio from various sources and formats gives iMovie a problem. I use ONLY 16-bit audio
from Camera and only audio .aiff for the rest. From iTunes Export out as an audio-CD .aiff and use
    this in Your movie.
I guess that Garageband or iTunes also are capable to convert .mp3 to .aiff.

  • Mavericks:  Logic X works with M-Audio 2626 soundcard, but not system audio

10.9.2 doesn't recognise my M-Audio 2626 soundcard interface, even though Logic X does.  So this seems like a fault with with Mavericks?
There are issues with the 2626 and Mavericks but if Logic X sees it and is fine, but Mavericks doesn't, then what....?
    Hope somebody can help.
    Thnx, Hugo

I ran into a similar problem. I discovered one thing which may help you out though. It works OK with my Yamaha P200 keyboard but it does not work with my Yamaha NP30 keyboard. I looked at the MIDI stream and the only difference seems to be that the NP30 sends a continuous stream of MIDI clock, whereas the P200 does not. My theory is that this clock stream is somehow confusing the driver. I can't seem to disable the MIDI clock on my NP30 but if your Privia has the ability to disable MIDI clock, then it may be worth a try as it will probably fix the problem until they come out with the proper drivers.

  • Select FLV's audio is playing but not video in IE

-- Using Flash 8 Video Encoder (with ON2's codec) to generate
the flvs. They play fine in Firefox. But the video does nopt

I seem to be running the latest Flash plugins on both

this. It does seem like a video codec issue...

On your iPod, go to the main menu, Videos, Video Settings, then turn the TV Out option to OFF.

  • Bad audio on IDVD but not IMOVIE

Why is my audio sounding like slow motion when i preview my IDVD but the IMOVIE plays it just fine?

Why is my audio sounding like slow motion
Not sure, but the "preview" in iDVD sometimes is great and the final product is bad, or preview can be bad, but the final product can be just fine.
So you can try "Save as Disk Image" and see if the encoded disk image will play OK with the Apple DVD player. If it's OK, the burn the image with Disk Utiltiy.
But if your audio is still bad on the iDVD disk image, go back to iMovie and "Extract audio" and then try again. You might have 12bit audio in your DV files, if so look here for other advice:

  • Audio will preview in iDVD, dvd will play audio in puter but not player

Sharing a movie from iMovie 8.0.3 (all programs up to date) gives me a movie with audio I can preview in iDVD 7.0.4 again, all updated. When burned, the dvd will play with audio on the computer, but in an actual dvd player, it will not play audio, and the movie autoplays - to get the dvd menu I had to press "menu."
    Any thoughts?

If the burned disk plays ok in your computer, I would not suspect the software, but the DVD player that you are using. Try the disk in another player and see if it works. DVD players vary considerably in how they handle the audio tracks. I am especially sure that it is the player when you note that one must push 'menu' to get the iDVD menu to appear.
    Other suggestions:
Use a good recommended brand of DVD disk to burn your DVDs, such as Verbatim or Maxell. Memorex and TDK are not recommended here because their layers are thinner and they give inconsistent burns.
Be sure to use a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Also, most of us recommend that you make a disk image file of all your iDVD projects.
From within an iDVD project, select 'Save as Disk image' from the menu. The process looks like a burn, and takes just as long for encoding, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk.
You can then mount the disk image file and play it on your computer using the application DVD Player.
This disk image file is an exact replica of your iDVD project, with all the media data encoded within it. If it plays properly, you can use it to burn DVD disks now and for as long as you save the disk image file. It is a great backup for your projects. In fact, you can safely move, change or delete the original iDVD project and the original iMovie used in it without losing the ability to burn a disk of your project later.
An iDVD project, on the other hand, is a shell container that points to the media used in it, but does not actually keep those files in it. iDVD pulls the media for the encoding/burn, but the media stay where they are originally located. If you want to save all your iDVD projects, you have to save all the media precisely as it was when the project was created or iDVD will be unable to find it to open the project.
Many have been keenly disappointed to learn that their projects are gone because they saved only the iDVD project and deleted all the other media.
However, with an disk image file encoded with the media, the original iDVD project and iMovies used in it can be safely deleted.

  • Audio in Menu but not in Movie

Hi, I have just made my second DVD project but am having troubles with the burning process.
Everything sounds fine when I preview the DVD, but once I create the disk image or burn the DVD the audio in the Movie part completely disappears. The audio for the menus plays, but then as soon as I go to view the movie there is no music at all.
Thanks for your input! It is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums!
What is the source of the audio?
If copy-protected tracks from iTunes they will not play in the DVD.
If that is the case post back - there is a workaround!
    Otherwise:
Your audio settings may have been changed.
    1. Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
    2. Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
    3. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.

  • Audio on menus but not on videos

    Hello,
I'm having troubles using iDVD to create a custom disk. Initially, I was getting no sound at all. After reading the forums, it appeared that re-creating my project would be the only solution. After doing so, the menu sound began to work fine when I export to VIDEO_TS. However, the audio in my videos still does not work. When I preview the file through iDVD, everything is functioning as expected. As soon as I export to VIDEO_TS or burn to DVD, the issue occurs and there's suddenly no audio in my video tracks.
I updated the software to 7.1.2 in my last attempt, to see if that would resolve the issue. Still no good. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Wil

After reading some simlar posts, it appears it may have to do with my audio encoding on the source videos. I can easily convert the videos using QT Pro, but does anyone have the ideal audio/video settings for use with iDVD?
    Thanks,

  • Avatar animation syncs to audio in SWF but not in course.

I have an animated avatar built to accompany an audio transcript.
The avatar movements sync perfectly with the audio in the published swf.
But when the course plays together and that swf plays through a swf-based course interface in a browswer, the sync is lost.  The audio plays back fine but the the avatar now plays back VERY choppy, at maybe 1/2 of the regular speed.
Please tell me there is a relatively easy fix for this!?
I had promised to complete this project tonight and there are 50 swfs that use this avatar audio feedback.
    Thanks.

    what, hey, when, whois!!!!
It sounds as though you want someone else to write this for you.
There are many, many, many, many ways to skin the same cat within Flash (as with most development languages) it really is up to you with which way you want to take your development.
You might want to look at "MovieClipLoader" which will give you more options.

  • Audio in Quicktime, audio in iDVD but not in iMovie

    Hi All,
I'm pretty sure the answer will be a menu setting I haven't been smart enough to find on my own, so thanks in advance for any and all assistance.
On ocassion I've taken quicktime movie file created in Final Cut Pro, imported it into iMovie - where the sound doesn't play, then out of curiousity shared to iDVD, where voila!, I have sound again!!!
What silly setting am I missing? I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking, argh!

    Howdy Brian,
I found the perfect article to help troubleshoot the lack of audio when you play movies in Quicktime. Its named iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Audio does not play or plays incorrectly and can be found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1362.
    All the best,

  • Audio in Premier but not Encore (CS3)

I have the same material in avi, mpeg2 & wav, both play clearly in Premierc CS3, but nothing I load, even just a music track will play in Encore CS3. I'm using M-Audio and have reset the Preferences, tried everying I know how to try and cannot get audio to work. I have dual mointors and have both Premiere and Encore open, plays fine on Premiere. Shut down Premiere and still no audio.
Very confusing and frustrating. Hope for some advice.
    Jack

Have you checked that the Encore Audo Output preferences are mapped onto an active, functioning audio device?

  • Imovie mp4 imports - audio imports fine but not video

I have attempted to import several mp4 files some import fine while the majority import only the audio without the video.

That's could be caused by the incompatible codec of your mp4 files. iMovie can support mp4 files encoding with H.264 and MPEG-4. I'm not sure whether your files are in such codec. Maybe you can try a video converter to help you convert your mp4 files to iMovie first. it's simple and you just need to "Add File"-> "Convert to"-> "iMovie"-> "iMovie H.264(*.mp4)"/"iMovie ProRes(*.mov)".

  • Distorted audio on Mac but not on PC

    Hi everyone,
My colleague recorded audio to a Captivate project on his PC and it sounded great. When I opened and previewed the project on my Mac, the audio came in with microphone distortions for certain phrases (sounds like he was too close to the mic). Is there anything I can do on the Mac in preferences or Captivate to change how the audio sounds (aside from re-recording all of the audio files)? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi,
Can you go to Audio settings, when you edit, it gives you the option to adjust audio levels and normalize it.
Also, you can check by exproting teh audio from Library Menu and pay it standalone and see if the audio sounds fine that way?
If yes, try reinserting and publishing again.
    Thanks,
