HP will have any  recommended  driver updates for your computer listed  on the page you provided.
These drivers have been tested and known to work well with your system. OEM's can and do alter drivers to perform correctly with their  units.
Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers
It is your choice if you update from the manufacturer's site but as they will be untested the results will be unknown.
If you do decide to go that route, I suggest you create a restore point to go back to if they do not function correctly for your system.
I hope this has addressed your concerns!

  • No audio from hdmi port on pavilion dv6

hey everyone, perhaps someone can help me out with this audio issue. i have a pavilion dv6 and I'm trying to pass audio through the hdmi port to my dvdo edge scaler, but it doesn't seem to be working. i don't have any trouble with the audio from the hdmi port to my plasma. but i also dont have any other audio issues with other units plugged into the scaler. I tried changing default audio device and then my media players stops working. so I'm very confused if anyone has any ideas I'm fresh out as I have been working on this problem for most of the afternoon. thanks

Did you install the Intel chipset driver , the Intel IMEI driver, HP Quicklaunch driver and the HP Software Framework?
The simplest way of reinstalling the OS to a new hard disk would have been by using the USB recovery media. From the HP Recovery Manager select the Factory image recovery.

  • Audio stop working in a Pavilion dv6 with vista enterprise 64

    Hi guys,
I´m having a very strange problem with my girlfriend´s laptop. One month ago, we bought a HP pavilion dv6-1117es with Windows Vista Home 32 bits installed. I changed the S.O. to a new Vista Enterprise 64 bits. Everything works perfectly. Last week while she was working with MS Word, the sound system stops working. Nothing changes and the laptop didn´t show any errors. I made all the tests I could imagined without success. Frustrated I decided to reinstall the S.O. but there is no sound.
    Steps done:
Review and reinstall drivers from HP. I also have uninstall all the items in the audio system and the laptop rediscover the hardware without errors.
I have tried any option both in the windows vista audio mixer and in the IDT application selecting any audio source possible.
I have updated the laptop bios into the latest version.
I have tried with several external speakers and I have the same result.
    Also updated MS UAA.
    Also restarted audio services
    Symptoms:
The problem is that everything looks ok. The mixer shows the green bar up and down when I play any mp3 song. It seems to work in all the devices including external speakers, double speakers, SPIF line out and HDMI out. There is no red crosses or yellow warnings anywhere.
    Please help me.
    Thanks-

HI Jaimese, yes I tried XP service pack 2 does not help.
I did a system reinstallation apparently that worked for all of 10 minutes,
then back to teh same thign.  It must be a software issue.
Theonly time when it sort of worked was when the HP guy told me to uninstall the IDT drivers, then windows vista reinstalled it again.
I did a total clean install , meaning I wped the HDD clean through system restore that did nothing.
I  don't know what to do. Well......... actually I do . If nobody takes responsability
    A) return HP comptuer to retailer.
    B) Take a trip to local Apple store. (yes they are expensive but at this point I should not have to do a clean install one week into ownership).

  • No Sound after updating IDT High Definition Audio Codec on my HP Pavilion dv6-6154tx laptop

I recently ran Advanced Driver Update to check and updated my audio driver (IDT High Definition Audio Codec) on my Windows 7 laptop. However, after the update, every time I boot up the computer, there is no audio output. I checked the volume control options and they are all fine, showing "all devices are playing sound". But there is no sound. Even the 'test sound' option does not play any audio, although the computer says that it is working fine. I read some posts on this forum and came across an answer - to uninstall the current driver from Device Manager, and manually install IDT HD Audio Driver for Windows. This works and I am able to get back the sound. However, I have to do this every time I start my computer after shutting it down, and this is proving cumbersome. Can somebody please help me with this and suggest a solution? Thanks.

  • Pavilion dv6-1230us Black Screen after installing Windows 7...Please Help

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 and everything was working fine until my computer went into hibernation.   Before this, I installed all the drivers and software from the HP website for my computer for Windows 32 bit setup.  After my computer went into hibernation, my computer will not start up in normal mode; rather, it starts in safe mode only.  When its starts in normal mode, the screen just turns black and nothing happens.  The login screen comes up perfectly fine but after I login at startup, the screen just turns black.  Please help, I don't know what else to do whether it is a driver or software issue from the software from the HP site.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Pavilion dv6 microphone problem

    Hi,
I plug my microphone in my Pavilion dv6 but I can't hear anything from my microphone. My microphone works perfectly in my other computers. My operating system is windows 7 home premium. Could you please help me?
    Thanks a lot

First, I would like to clarify the scenario some.  You state "few month ago days ago" and the motherboard was changed.  Was the motherboard changed a few months ago and the microphone stopped working a few days ago or do you mean that the motherboard was changed just a few days ago and the microphone hasn't worked since then?
According to this, the unit came with FreeDOS as the operating system.  Is it still using FreeDOS or was it changed to a version of Windows?  If so, what is the current version of Windows installed?

  • I have a HP Pavilion dv6 that has suddenly stopped playing any kind of audio. How do I fix this?

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 that suddenly stopped playing any kind of sound.  That's with earphones plugged in or not.  The microphone indicator in sound setup indicates that it is listening to external sound, and when I play system sounds, the speaker icon in the volume mixer indicates that the hardware thinks it is playing sounds, but nothing is coming out of the laptop at all.  I thought if it were a speaker not working internally I could fix it with earphones or external speaker but that isn't working either.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver - if you do, the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC audio glitch

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, Product number: QJ920AV#ABA, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
Is it even possible to simaltaneously use the audio and micrphone jacks? I have Turtle Beach headphones which have both inputs so that you have hear and transmit voice while listening to any in-game sounds. However, everytime I try, the audio gltiches and I can no longer hear anything or even play sound files in Windows Media player and I am forced to restart.
This only happens if I try to simaltaneously use those two ports. I would very much like to use them both so that when I am playing games I can avoid the irritating error (which displays no error image and is not detected by diagnostic reports) and so that I can hear both in-game music and hear other peoples' voices. This error has always been here.

  • Unable to control one-touch Audio and Wifi Icons on - HP Pavilion DV6-1235ee

    Hello All,
For a week or so, I am not able to enable/disable my Audio (even volume control) or Wifi buttons using the one-touch button (on the the same panel of power switch) in my HP Pavilion DV6-1235ee laptop.  I restarted few times and re-installed the chipset driver and input driver guessing it might help, to no result.
I've not done anything strange in the computer but installed few application related to my job.  And I am not used to regularly shutting down or rebooting my computer but keep it locked.
My OS: Windows 7 Professional X64

    Hi,
It's always worth trying a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and see start the notebook.

  • Why do I need a headset to talk on Skype? Doesn't my HP Pavilion dv6 have a built-in microphone?

I understand most laptops come with a built-in microphone so I'm having trouble identifying how to use it (if it exists) on my HP Pavilion dv6.  It is cumbersome putting on a headset to chat on Skype all the time, and given the technology available, somewhat primitive.  Anybody help?

    CactusLander,
    Welcome to the HP Forum!
Assuming your Audio setup is typical for Windows 7 or 8, and that (in general) your PC sound is in working order,
then the next place to look is in Skype.
Take a look at the following for "how to":
How do I adjust the sound settings on my computer and in Skype for Windows 7?

  • Audio output low using stereo mix under recording HP Pavilion Dv6 Win Prof Prod# A3E82AV

HP Pavilion Dv6 Win Prof Prod# A3E82AV  with High Def Audio Codec
When I bought this I asked if it had "What you hear" under recording and was told it had "Stereo Mix" instead and it would do the same. I accepted that as my Gateway has this as well and it works great. However, using the same settings as for the Gateway and using either Audacity (Latest Version) or DAK7 Wav Editor it's like I can't get the recording signal high enough. Sound barely register on the wave chart with the recording level as high as I can get it both in the programs as well as under the Stereo Mix Property. Playing back what I record require the volume to be at max and the quality is very bad. Am I missing something?

I have had the same problem ever since I bought my laptop with "beats audio". In my former PC this worked perfectly with Realtek HD Audio. Someone please help!

  • Pavilion DV6 no longer plays any audio. I am a Windows 7 user Premium 64 Bit OS...any solutions?

I am running a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with serial number: {Private Information Removed} and product number: A1U59AV#ABA.
There was a bios update automatically performed on my machine on the 30th of Oct. and since then, my audio has not worked.
    Please advise.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let windows fully load and then check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • Captivate 4 not detecting audio input from USB Microphone

I'm using a Logitech USB microphone in Captivate 4.  When I try to calibrate it, Captivate 4 is not detecting any sound.  It is set up properly.  In the "audio settings" menu, this microphone is listed in the drop down list.  I have selected it as the input device.  However, when I try to "calibrate" this microphone, no audio is detectable.  Captivate 4 is detecting the device, but not the audio input.  I have double checked all the usual suspects--this microphone is selected as the default recording device.  It does not use special software or drivers.  It is designed to use the drivers in Vista.  It works fine with other applications.  I have made sure the input level is detectable.  I've checked to make sure it is not muted.  I have other microphones (non-USB cheapies) that work fine, but I can't get this specific USB microphone to work.
    Suggestions?

  • Missing audio input devices

I have 5 mac pro systems. All running the same OS and software versions. All using the AJA Io HD as the primary A/V capture device. 1 of the mac pros can select the Aja IO HD as the audio input in Soundtrack...on the other 4 the option is missing. But if you click configure device, the Aja is there..youjust can't assign it..I a able to use the Aja as an audio input in Quicktime on all machines as well as FCP, Audacity, etc..so I can't see how it would be a driver issue and I have used the exact same configuration in the aja control panel..any ideas?

Well, I'm still on the same machine I once installed Leopard (10.5) on, and I've upgraded to Snow Leopard to Lion and now to Mountain Lion, the only thing I always had to replace after installation was the AppleHDA.kext (in System>Library>Extensions). The version I have is 1.8.4fc3. But there's no guarantee that that'll work for you, chances are you have different hardware.
If you use an audio interface with drivers, you won't need the .kext - but you don't get the built in inputs (which are crap anyway, compared to an external (24 bits) audio interface).
