Audio input quality when skyping with Nokia BH200 BT headset

I use a Nokia BH200 headset with my iMac to skype and people have complained that they find it difficult to hear me clearly and it also sounds very soft. I have tried charging the headset fully and of course set the Skype preferences to the bT headset. Any other people have this problem?
I should also say that I have a MBP with Skype installed and running as well at the same time but I usually take calls on my iMac. I have this configuration so that I can pick up/make calls on my MBP when I am in the living room as opposed to my study where my iMac is. I am not sure if that has affected the audio in quality.

Try the above link. I know it is a screen-full, but is a search result for Matrikon. They have a whole slew of OPC servers/clients you can try out. Personally, I would go with their OPC server for the Mitsubishi, and use Labview Datasockets. That would be the simplest with the lowest learning curve.
Otherwise, if you wish to use Modbus, you would have to get the commands/syntax from Mitsubishi; might be in their user manual, but I wouldn't lay bets on it. With the Matrikon stuff, the syntax is all built in.

For Skype Video, which uses CPU and GPU to encode and decode the video, these sound about right.
Best to place your MacBook Pro on a solid (non-cloth, fabric) surface to help heat dispurtion.

Bad Quality When Sharing with iWEB

Sorry if this is posted somewhere on here. I could not find it.
I am having a problem with real choppy video when sharing with iWEB. My videos when viewed on my website are very blurry to the point that you can not see faces. Any help would be most welcome.

I am importing from miniDV. I believe it is HD, not sure if that matters or not. I recorded a clip off of the cam into iMovie. I added a soundtrack and a few sound effects. I saved my project and then shared it with iWEB. It is now on my website but just real blurry and the sound effect don't hit at the right times. It is perfect when view in iMovie (great picture quality). I also shared the same movie with iTunes and noticed, while better then iWeb, it is still not as good as when viewing in iMovie. Thanks for any help

Audio input clicks when input connected

when i plug in any input source into the audio input on my macbook. all it does is click.
did i fry something?

Did you look at System Preferences, Sound, Input, and check the input volume level?

Audio Input quality on MBP?

My wife's iBook is dying, so I am about to jump into a new MacBookPro which will now be "our" computer.
I currently have a US-122 that has always worked well on my iMac (G4) and the iBook. I understand that the drivers for the US-122 do not support the current 10.5 OS that I will get with the MBP.
So, how good is the audio input on the MBP? The "tech specs" just says it has one, not how many bits or anything. I suppose down the line I will get an interface/midi input, but for now I have plenty of pre-amp-like thingies (pre-amps and mixers) that I can use to get a signal into the thing.
Any thoughts?

I'd recommend getting an interface, even a cheap one as a stopgap until you want to get something more robust. Cheap audio interfaces are so cheap, that one would only be a fraction of the cost of the MBP, but would be more than worth it.
I've done some work on a new MBP and the audio jacks are... well... they work, but I think you'd be well served to get even a modest USB interface and then plug all your preamps and mixer things into that.

W510 not compatible with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic headset (earpiece)?

Hi all,
Have anyone came across this problem? I have 2 of those headset and I tried both in my W510. When I played any music source, the sound is so diffused like as if it works like a surround speaker that only produce presence sound. To get the vocal, I have to shift the Balance to the extreme left or right. First time encounter such problems. However, other headset work fine with my W510.

did you update your phone to the latest firmware for your phone currently it is v30......but it just got released so it may not be avaliable for all product codes just yet. also is your phone unbranded./unlocked if that is the case then you have a better change of updating than with a provider.

Audio Input Quality - Desktop vs. Laptop

I want to record quality sound through my new iBook USB when using iMovie 5 but have been unable to do so even with the top microphones available, including a Samson C01U.
Although the sound input level shows high in both the Sound control panel and in iMovie the volume just isn't there. Put it up any higher and I'm in the red and it distorts.
Even when I speak loudly AND crank the sound volume up 150% in iMovie the sound level is low when exported (the sound quality seems ok, when I play it loud on my stereo...the sound LEVEL is poor.)
To try and troubleshoot this and find out more info I visited the Apple store today.
We plugged the C01U into a G5 desktop and the sound levels were just fantastic...I could speak very normally and the input levels were way up there...we could see them on the fly because we recorded into Garage Band.
We tried it on an iBook, a powerbook, and the desktop. The sound levels were poor on the laptops but clearly far far better on the desktop.
We retried it just to be sure...we were both quite surprised. One Apple genius suggested that the USB ports on the laptop aren't as strong as on the desktop and perhaps the mic wasn't getting enough juice (but wouldn't there be an alert message if that were so?).
So he found a USB hub, four input, powered via AC, and no difference.
I was able to reproduce this at home on my desktop dual G4...the sensitivity was so much greater when recording via the USB. I could speak at normal volume and it would sound great, loud, on playback.
Why?

The use of a "compressor" makes no sense to me.
Why...woudln't I want to reduce the dynamic range so I can talk loudly without it being clipped and quieter and still be heard?
The folks who sell the Samson line are not Apple savy. I suggest you take a look at the various devices offered by Griffen including the iMic if you are going to try to use your laptop in the field as your audio recording device.
Well I have an iMic and a the Griffin laveleer mic. The mic is worth the $15 it cost. It's basically the same quality as a radio shack lavaleer...which means not too good for what I need.
The Samson mic is a pro-level mic and you can clearly hear that quality...when recording on a desktop. It's only $80 and it;s better than the $175 Audio-Technica lavaleer I previously mentioned.
But when you record on the laptop the sound levels aren't there so he suggestion compression so I can get a signal going from 60-80% (as best I understand) instead of 50-85%.
I'm finding it very hard to talk loud enough to get a nice signal...and then you get loss when you export it for the web.
Of course, like the rest of us, you are starting to save money so you can buy one of the swoopy FW interfaces for field use, right?
Yes, I am now looking for a pre-amp compressor but it can't be a $500 one. I'd have to try one to see if it's better than the Samson's built in pre-amp.

iSync doesn't sync mail at all - only Contacts, Calendars and Tasks.
Plus, Thunderbird is not integrated with the Mac OS X SyncServices framework (which iSync uses) so cannot sync with anything on a Mac.

Why would my SD export be better quality when editing with SD instead of HD?

My footage is in HD 24p. I have found that if It set my sequence to DV 24, when I export to MPEG 2 I get a good quality video. However, when I edit the same footage using a HD sequence and export to MPG2, the file size is about the same, but the video is slighty blury. Any ideas why? I would think the quality would be better edting in HD instead of SD, when exporting to SD or MPG 2?

I filmed it in SD on my Sony HDV-AU1 camera. What is killing me is if I choose upper then the footage looks fine, but then what I have done is add some jpeg images that I created in photoshop on a PC. they are simple images of text that say "Round 1" or "Round 2" in between the fights. I have them spin into view using one of the transitions in FCP, but when I get it to dvd, they look horrible, echoy, just like the footage looked like before I changed it to upper field. So as it looks now, I can't have both look good i guess. This doesn't make sense to me!! It is incredibly frustrating especially since I'm out of money and almost out of time on this project (it has to be done by next week). I keep re-doing the project, re-building it, re-setting it in one type of sequence after another and it's not looking good at all. what am I doing wrong?

PE8 - Monitor Quality when working with MPEG2 files?

Hi,
I'm still looking into whether to buy premiere or not and have a few questions which may all be related:
- My original MPEG2 file is 704 x 576, Premiere exports as 720 x576. Are there really two different standards for widescreen?
- My original video is nice and clear, it's not so wonderful in the PE8 monitor. My short 1 minute MPEG2 did finish it's background rendering and has a green line over the clip. Why is this not the same quality? (I assume it's not due to it being the trial version, which has a big banner across the middle to prevent it being ripped off).
- Premiere reports "Display performance will be poor due to incorrectly operating card or driver", although I've read that is isn't necessarily a problem.
System Spec:
- Intel i7 2.8ghz 860 Quad core, Nvidia GT220 graphics card with 1GB memory, 4gb memory
- Windows 7 pro 64 bit (Windows expeirence index is 6.5 out of 7.5)
- latest video driver updated to 8.17.11.9675 (21/02/2010)
- Currently running on PE8 Trial.
- System disk: 37gb free (Intel X25-M solid state 80gb SATA2 disk), project/cache drive: 884gb free (SEAGATE 1.5TB Barracuda 7200RPM)

I had been busy reading Adobes help and search the net and found an answer although I can't get it to work. I'll post another topic with a more relevent heading. You can change the pixel aspect ratio !

Video quality when importing with letterboxing checked

If I import mini dv shot in 16:9 using the letterboxing during import, does it degrade video quality? What settings are best when importing 16:9 mini dv?

Set the project as DV Widescreen before importing. Do not tick 'Automatic Letterboxing'.

Midi and audio regions overlap when recording with autodrop

Say you are playing a melody for notation purposes with midi. You record 2 bars. Region is 2 bars long. You learn the next 2 bars and notice that this phrase actually starts at bar 2 beat 4. So you set autodrop to bar 2 beat 4 and punch in. The new region begins at bar 2 beat 1. If you adjust the region start point you see the end of the first region hiding behind it. In the score window, before trimming that new regions start point, you see rests for the new region and notes from the first region together..really lame. If you trim the new regions start point to bar 2 beat 4 it looks right. This is in replace mode mind you.... Why doesn't the punch appear at the autodrop location instead of at the beginning of the bar. I don't remember logic working like this before, did it? Seems like it was doing the same thing with audio, had regions hiding all over the place behind punches...very confusing. I saw a similar post but it didn't seem to resolve this issue...Is it a bug? A few things (and there aren't many) regarding capture recording... For me it's been a tried-and-true feature of Logic for a very long time and continues to work flawlessly.
How Capture Works (and some operational notes)
Logic continually captures any and all MIDI data from the time you hit PLAY to the time you hit STOP, even if you're not "in record". Notes, program changes, controllers, sysex, anything MIDI will get buffered as you play and are ready to be turned into a region once you hit your Capture k/c. You can play to picture, improvise, whatever, for a very long time and never worry about Logic losing any of what you played.
The KEY is that after you hit STOP, you must hit your Capture k/c before hitting PLAY again, because once you hit PLAY, the MIDI buffer is, out of necessity, be cleared.
However, you don't need to STOP Logic to use Capture. You can play along with a track and hit Capture at any time. Logic will create a MIDI region from what you played and continue capturing additional MIDI data from your real-time performance while Logic continues to run. So you can start Logic, play some stuff, capture, play some stuff, capture, all without hitting STOP. In this scenario, just remember that if you hit STOP at any point that you will need to hit Capture that last bit of your performance (if you hadn't done so already) before hitting PLAY again.
One other operational note that's really important...
CYCLE MODE: If Logic is set to cycle and the cycle wraps to the L-locator before you've captured your performance, you will lose what's in the MIDI buffer. Jumping back to the L-locator in cycle mode is the equivalent of hitting STOP and then hitting PLAY. This is probably the single most important thing to watch out for. I've lost a few good "noodlings" because I had my L-locator set too close.

N80IE Problem with Nokia Remote Control Headset AD...

Guys,do you have this AD-41 Remote Control Headphone,found in N73 Music Edition Phones,on your N80? My problem is that, I cant remotely play a song by simply pressing the PLAY Button on it... But before I bought this headset for my N80 I check first the Nokia web site, its says that it is COMPATIBLE... Is there something missing? Like, do I need to install a certain app so that it would work? Or, Its just like, I can't do it in N80?

"The compatibility between your device and your hands-free is PARTIAL, sir.". What the **bleep**?!!... Yes, it's not fully compatible. You don't need any software or setup in the phone... You (and I) need light the Nokia's offices on fire...

External microphones don't work with audio input

Tell me its not true that an ordinary mic won't work with the audio input....I have 2 mics which I know to work mini jack [tried both stereo and mono] and zip! nothing....what is wrong with this equation
any ideas from the floor? [do I really have to go and buy another usb headset or an iMic to resolve this??

I have been unable to get the microphone input with a Viewsonic 22" monitor with webcam to work with either iChat or iVisit with my Mac Pro. There have been other reports on the web about newer versions of the OS 10 inactivating the audio input for several programs. Is this why the microphone does not work or is it true that the audio input does not act as one? If the audio input does not work with an external microphone, what is it for?
