Audio Interface Connection Issue

I have recently purchased Native-Instruments' Komplete Audio 6 for production use in Logic Pro 9 and I have been experiencing a connection issue. The USB connection light on the interface itself blinks whenever it is plugged in and my Mac Book Pro Retina cannot detect the device whatsoever. This means, I believe,  that it is receiving power. I have been able to connect the two devices for very short periods of time (maybe 5 minutes) before it disconnects and returns to a blinking pattern sending an error message that the interface returned -2. (Whatever that means)
I have contacted Native-Instruments directly about the issue and they only respond with "update your firmware to the latest version." This would be fine except that the interface has to be connected to run a firmware update. (If that even is the problem) I have also deleted and reinstalled the driver/firmware multiple times.
I have gone through and completed all of the NI's websites troubleshooting guide to no avail and am becoming desperate for answers.
Is there any input that could help me with this endeavor, or perhaps a troubleshoot that I have overlooked?
thanks.

If you are connecting the Audio 6 (or any other USB2 Audio/Midi device for that matter) via USB to a USB3 port on your Mac.. (which I am assuming you are doing..) try using a Powered USB2 hub.. and connect the Live 6 to that and then connect the Hub to the USB3 port... Make sure you don't connect anything else to the hub.. so the Live 6 gets the max power from the hub...
Using a powered Hub with a USB2 device to connect to a USB3 port on a Mac or PC.. often helps out issues that are caused by the lower power that a USB3 port provides...
Its not a certain fix but often it works...
if it does work, you can then update the firmware which may alleviate the need for the powered hub.

  • Audio interface connection issues - growing very frustrated!

    Hi there,
I'm having a **** of a time with a very basic recording set-up.  I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track with Logic Pro 9.  I have a digital stage piano which is connected via USB to my macbook pro, but I am also connecting one of the audio output ports from my piano (a Kawai MP5) into the audio interface device. Basically I want to take advantage of the software instruments, AND some of the built-in piano sounds of my digital piano.  My set-up is like this:  the audio interface device is connected via USB to my macbook pro.  My piano is also connected via USB to the macbook pro.  My piano has another connection going into the audio interface device.  I want to be able to hear ALL audio via the headphone output on the macbook pro.  I have the audio settings within Logic Pro set up such that the audio input device is the Fast Track, and the audio output device is the built-in output of the macbook.
Within Logic Pro, I create a real instrument track, and I have it record enabled, BUT - I cannot hear anything coming through.  The signal indicator on the Fast Track lights up whenever I play the piano...but I do not hear anything in my headphones (connected to the macbook's built-in output).  If I create a software instrument track, I have no problem hearing anything.
Would somebody please PLEASE tell me how to connect my devices or adjust settings so that I can hear my piano within Logic Pro?  Technically, the way I have connected everything should work from the way I see it.  I don't know if I have to have a monitor enabled or disabled somewhere in order to hear the piano, but I have been playing around for over an hour now trying to get sound to come through with no success.
    Thanks.

If I have in instrument plugged into channel 1 I will only hear sound if the inputs have 1-2, or 1. If it's a stereo track it will be on one side only.

  • Lion ui generally slow on macbook pro 5.1 -- gets worse w/ edirol fa-66 audio interface connected

so, after doing a fresh install of os x lion (10.7.1) I'm having issues with the speed of the user interface. it is just really sluggish, especially when compared to the the performance I used to get with snow leopard (10.6.8). dock, animations of all kinds, even parsing through finder trees, everything seems to stutter at around 20-25fps instead of the super smoothness I used to get in SL.
the funny thing is, it gets even worse when I hook up my firewire audio interface, the edirol fa-66. even when nothing is playing or being recorded, the UI
gets slower still. also, the cpu-temperature goes up by some 12-15°C.
the machine is a late 2008 15" macbook pro, 2.4GHz core 2 duo, 8GB ram, hybrid 7.2k/ssd drive (seagate momentus xt) w/ filevault2 full disk encryption on, and either the nvidia 9400m or 9600m gt graphics running.
to quantify: on the venerable xbench 1.3 user interface test I'm getting a score of around 90 with either graphics chip, instead of the 280+ I got in (snow) leopard. with the fa-66 connected, the score drops to an even lower 80. open gl and xquartz scores go down a similar percentage with the fa-66 connected.
so, is anybody out there having the same issues? ui just too slow? getting worse with the fa-66?
    any useful ideas?

I have the same mac, except mine has a GeForce 8600M. I don't have any external audio devices but my computer has slowed down dramtically since I upgraded to lion, almost to the point where I can't use Aperture anymore. I didn't have any issues on snow leopard.

I'm struggling to get an answer on this anywhere... I have Logic Pro running 5.1 Surround Mixes on a g5, using a Metric Halo Mobile IO Firewire audio interface - its 6 analog outs are connected to a M Audio LX4 powered surround system. It all works great - until... the problem is when I need to listen to DVDs with 5.1 soundtracks (for reference), or even HD trailers (with 5.1 soundtracks). With the Mobile IO selected as audio interface, DVDs only play in stereo. I think this is because the 5.1 soundtrack is only output thru the optical out - but connecting the optical out to the Mobile IO and selecting 'Digital out' on the g5 brings silence.. Im told this is because the MIO's optical in wont decode 5.1. I'm interested to hear from anyone with a Pro Audio interface - like a MOTU etc - who needs to switch between mixing their own music in 5.1 and then listening to DVDs in 5.1.. I cant be the first, surely?
Plantwebguy said he solved his issue with VLC. Do we know if VLC willl decode 5.1 and then output it to the Interface via Firewire? I've searched the net for a Pro Audio interface with (1) 6 analog outs & mic inputs etc (2) firewire connection and (3) optical in that reads AC3/5.1 etc (rather than just ADAT).... nada. Sorry to be long-winded but I cant get a solution anywhere..

  • ITunes won't play songs w/Audio Interface connected

I am using iTunes with a Tascam US-122L audio interface. It worked perfectly fine until yesterday evening, and now iTunes absolutely refuses to play any music when the Tascam is connected. I click a song title and the diamond slider does not move, the song stays at 0:00, and the "play" button doesn't change to the "pause" button. It seemed to have started doing this after I exported a song into iTunes from an app called Audio Hijack, which I downloaded to capture some audio from Logic Pro.
iTunes works perfectly fine when the audio interface isn't connected.
I've tried everything, from restarting my computer, to reinstalling the Tascam drivers to reinstalling iTunes, but to no avail. Anyone got any ideas?

Does anyone have a possible solution to this? I'm getting the exact same issue with the US-122L after upgrading its firmware (believe it or not... it worked with the previous firmware.. silly me, if it ain't broke, don't fix it).
Really considering returning the thing now, even though I really like it. I'd appreciate any leads, even a way to get debugging info out of it - I'm a programmer and I can tinker if needed. Thanks in advance.

  • Audition CS6 Mac Won't Play Audio Interface Preference Issue

Hi Im having some problems with Audition CS6 mac. I have the full master collection and only encounter this issue with Audition.
    On my Macbook pro
I use my internal speakers/audio or a vrm box audio interface, occasionally Ill use a fasttrack pro to record. My problem occurs after I use the audio interface. When I next open Audition set up for the built in speakers/audio and hit play, it says playing but nothing plays.
When I open Audition after using a external interface going back to my built in macbook audio I get a pop warning that:
"Your systems audio hardware settings have changed. Would you like to go review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
I click yes,  go to that everything is set for internal mac audio,
hit play, says playing bottom left, then  just sits there.
I noticed today when it did this, that it if I go into the Audio Channel Mapping Preference, it shows what ever audio interface I used last on the output/not working on it. I am unable to change theses settings.
I reboot after changing audio interfaces, etc.
I can delete my Audition preference files in my user folder and it functions again, but that also entails rescanning all plugins which takes some time.

I just found that removing MachineSpecificSettings.xml in the user/preferences/adobe/audition/5.0/  folder will get it to play again under the internal audio settings. And when I look at channel mapping it shows the internal audio.

In an attempt to establish whether it was the computer or the router I plugged in an old speedtouch 510 router which I had lying around - this worked first time, so I guess it's the netgear that is the issue and I will need to reset it and re-enter all the details, unless anyone knows of a quicker way...?

  • Audio jack connection issue

I am having an issue with the audio/headphone jack on my iphone 5c.  I plug in my headphones to listen to music and after a few minutes of the music playing, the music becomes inaudible.  The music is still "playing" on the music app, but no sound is coming out of the headphones.  When I unplug my headphones and plug them back in, the music becomes audible again.  And then the cycle continues to repeat itself every few minutes.  Anybody have this happen or have a way to fix this issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the opposite problem. The internal speaker started to make a staticy chattering sound after using the new Superdrive to do backups. All works fine if I plug in headphones. We have had the beloved 12" iBook G4 open several times as we continue to upgrade it, so it may well be a wire that got roughed up. We've upgraded to the superdrive and are about to put in a new hard drive and more ram so the wire approach to troubleshooting the problem gives us a clue what to look for.
    Thanks!

  • Connecting external audio interfaces?! Issues, help needed!

Ok well basically i'v always used a pc to do music using cubase and a variety of hardware including a steinberg mi4 external audio interface connected via usb. Now on my pc which is actually less powerful than my new macbook (the 2.2ghz model) the interface works with out fault no latency, no distortion.
However once used on my new shiny macbook, for which i'v purchased logic pro as opposed to cubase (felt like a change) when trying to use my interface via usb on the mac through logic i seem to have issues with recording and all sound comes through distorted with a great deal of latency. I'v tried altering the sample depth and the bit rate and nothing seems to work?
I have downloaded mac specific drivers for the hardware so i'm sure its not a driver issue?
Anyone with any suggestion, cos i'm a bit gutted really?
P.s. Does anyone know if you can change the graphics card in a macbook?
    Ben

Hi, im having the same issue, using garageband and logic pro. I used pc to make music with no problems at all with my Zoom g9.2tt guitar fx usb interface.
Now with mac i get distorted and lots of latency.
One way i found that can make this work with garageband is use the internal sound card to play sounds and the usb interface to record this helps a lot. This trick makes it for garageband but not for logic pro(still getting distortion/latency).
By the way i used to have an emachines laptop with 512 ram memory and a 1,6ghz semprom processor, believe or not, easier to record on that one, with no latency and no distortion.

  • Thunder Bolt to Monitor and Firewire to Audio Interface Problem

Hello. I just purchased 2 studio monitors for producing. I have a audio interface connected from my firewire plug on my 15 inch mabook pro, which are going out to my speakers. Thats all fine, but whenever I plug in my thunderbolt to hdmi adapter going to my other computer screen, it makes a really annoying buzzing sound. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Studzik,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Ummm ---- given that you have a G5, maybe it's better that you post this is the iMac G5 section of the discussions (this is the flat panel iMac G4 section that you have posted in). That way, you have a greater chance of a G5 iMac user familiar with your issue picking it up and being able to help you.
All the best, hope you find a solution.

  • My iPad Air 2 is no longer recognizing my audio interface when I connect.

Basically I am using the camera connection kit to connect to my korg kronos keyboard, which has an audio interface. The couple times that I did this before, it worked. Sound from the iPad was routed to my monitor via the Kronos interface. I don't know what happened but I didn't use it for a week and ever since then when I connect the sound only comes through my iPad. I used to be able to use the Kronos As midi device to control my music apps but even that functionality doesn't work anymore.
ive tried doing a hard reset several times and in several combinations with the Kronos...such as powering both on at the same time but no luck.
the kronos works perfectly when I connect it to my laptop, so I'm convinced it's an issue with the iPad. When I plug the iPad to my computer it is recognized...so it can't be the connection port that is faulty.
THe kronos is the only class compliant device I have to test it on and have been unlucky so far.
    ANy help?

Try doing a hard reset on the iPad. You can also check if your iPad needs to be updated too.
To update go to Settings - General - Software Update
To do a hard reset, i would suggest you do a back up first, either on iCloud or via iTunes.
First try shutting down the device off and on, if that does not help, then you can go ahead and do the hard reset.
    Hard Resetting your device.
On your iPad, press and hold both the SLEEP/WAKE button and the HOME button for about ten (10) seconds. After ten seconds you should see the Apple logo showing up, you can then release your fingers from those buttons. Wait for your iPad to turn up completely, then try connecting your projector again to see if it works. I hope it does. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

  • Line Output From Audio Interface Mutes When Connected To HDMI

    Hello Apple Community,
As my first post to the community, I would like to shed some light on an issue I have found no answer to on the internet or support lines. I have spent a great deal of time self-diagnosing and over the phone with technical support for all devices in question.
    Problem:
I have no sound when connected to HDMI. The problem is not exclusive to HDMI, as I bought two Mini DisplayPort adapters (HDMI & VGA) -- neither of which resolved my issue.
    Hardware:
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) - Intel i7, 8GB RAM, GT 650M Graphics
    Audio Interface - Started out with a PreSonus AudioBox 2-In, 2-Out. Now it's a Yamaha Steinberg UR22 (2-In, 2-Out)
Powered Studio Monitors - Yamaha HS7 (Pair)
    External Display - Vizio 37", 1080p TV
At first glance, it may sound like my problem is simply that I'm not set to the correct audio output when I'm connected to HDMI. However, this is not the case. With both audio interfaces, I double-checked that the output did not swap to HDMI when plugging in. Many communities believe this is a ground-loop issue with anything from my interface / speakers, to the HDMI cable itself. When I spoke to an audio specialist from Yamaha, he assured me that grounding issues were not the case. He said that ground-loops will only cause noise (hiss, static, hum, etc.), not a complete mute.
    Thank you,
    Matthew Morris

Okay, so Steinberg responded after 6 days to set up a call time. Three days after that, I finally received the call. Yes, 9 total days.........
Jeff from Steinberg went over all of my issues and went through a whole diagnosis. At the point where I got rid of the stock Yamaha XLR to TRS and used some unbalanced instrument cables I had laying around, the monitors worked! Jeff and I narrowed it down to either bad cables or (more than likely) bad XLR ports. I believe the ladder because the possibility of receiving 2 bad cables is less likely than possibly a single XLR port having a faulty ground or something--which would lead to the above issues.

  • Rtmp audio connection issues

    Hello,
I'm a Flash Platform Developer currently working on a player 9 streaming audio app. We are using a 3rd party provider who is has FMS 3.5. We seem to be having issues with some users behind firewalls unable to connect. The log is showing a NetConnection.Connect.Failure NetStatus error when they attempt to connect to the stream. The FMS vendor says they are automatically switching from rtmp on port 80 to http tunneling on port 80 when trying to connect (they don't support ports 443 and 1935). Is there something I can do on the client side? I've read about multi port scanning, but doesn't that only apply to older versions of FMS that couldn't auto-switch. Also, when I force tunneling by using rtmpt I can get 30+ secs of delay before buffering. So even if tunneling works, the delay is unacceptable.
My client and I are perplexed because our users can see Pandora with no problem. Is there something our FMS vendor is missing that isn't getting around these firewall issues... or is it on my end? Since I don't have an FMS sitting next to me this is extremely hard to troubleshoot.
Any insights from those of you who do?
    Thanks!
