Audio interface input/output and sound questions

I have finally managed to find the driver for my MobilePre USB and got it installed....pheeew!!!
Loaded up GarageBand.
I have selected audio input and selected mobilepre as the input.....so I am hearing myself now...but only through one headphone....why is that???
Also I hear myself record through the headphone/s and when I play back or select metrone I hear it through the monitor speakers.
I thought this could be resolved by changing the audio output under preferences to MobilePre USB....but then I lost all sound all together and could not get any back until I uninstalled the MobilePre drive and reinstalled it again.
Any ideas how I can get playback coming through the headphones....and the metronome too???

Thanks for the reply.
I was running my headphones through my MobilePre....and I have just tried plugging them into the Headphone Jack but I couldn't hear anything when I recorded...but I could hear what I recorded on playback...metronome and bass track in both headphone...thats some progress
Now I just need to know how to hear myself when I record....any thoughts?????

  • Difficulty getting Sound input configure and sound input to read more than 2 channels

I need multichannel audio input for my project. I can't seem to read more than 2 channels of my audio interface.
The interface Im using is an Alesis Multimix8 USB 2 mixer and and audio interface. This supports 10 channels in and 2 out. With other software I can read all input channels simultaneously without any difficulty. When I specify the sound input configure and sound input read, to read more than 2 channels any extra channel is a blank signal. Im using Labview 8.5 here.
    Solved!

    Take a look here

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

  • Can't select input output and name media when using MRC1 log and transfer

I am using a MRC1 from the Sony Z5E to film my media. I downloaded the plugin which allows me to log and transfer through FCP 6.0.6. The only problem is that it does not allow me to input/output and name the pieces of each clip that I want. Hence I can only import the whole clip and am wasting time and space with media that I do not want or need. Is there an additional plugin or setting to pick on FCP to get this feature to work?

Hi xhk, I'm a Kubuntu's user and I've had the same problems. I've been days reading on the Internet about this issue and finally I solve it by following this post from a Spanish tutorial: http://bit.ly/4p3XFq. It worked for me!
    Basically it is:
    1. Get install the needed packages, i.e: sudo apt-get install ibus ibus-pinyin
    2. After installing them, introduce a little code into two files:
2.1.--> type on your konsole: kate /home/$(whoami)/.bashrc
a--> add to the bottom of the opened text:
    export GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
    export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
    export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
b-->save the changes on the text.
2.2.--> type again on your konsole: kate /home/$(whoami)/.profile
      b--> repeat 2.1.a. and 2.1.b
    3. Go to main menu - system settings - advance - "autoarranque" (I don't know how it is called in English, "restarting" maybe?) and then "add a programme". Type: ibus-daemon -d, press OK and then rebooth.
It shall be working by then.

  • Nvidia HMDI output and sound on a TV

    Hi all
I'm french so I apologies if my english isn't very well
I update recently my laptop lenovo G530 to Windows 7 Home premium. I install the driver which was on the cd provided by Lenovo. When I have tried to connect my laptop on my TV with an hdmi cable, i succeed in getting the image but i have no sound. I tried to update the nvidia driver and it worked well. But there is a problem; the new driver isn't entirely compatible with my laptop : when i play some games like Sim city 4, the Computer crash... So I had to reinstall the driver provided by Lenovo. My question is : What can I do to get the sound on my TV with my nvidia HDMI output? Is there some settings that i may fix in order to get the sound on my TV?
Thanks for your helping and sorry if my english isn't very well.

Here's what they say to do if the link doesn't work.
"I found that right clicking on the HDMI output and setting it as default device, that the audio now works on the HDMI. The only issue I have is that when I want to listen to the sound through my PC speakers, I have to reset Speaker/HP as default."
I would guess this is in the sound settings.

  • How can I route my audio interface inputs to Logic Express inputs?

    Hello,
Logic Express can 12 inputs to record audio on.... fair enough.
My MOTU Traveler, together with ADAT connected Mackie Onyx 800F have 16 inputs...
How can I use the first 4 inputs (XLR) together with the last 8 input (ADAT)
Logic only seems to count from 1 to 12!
(After reading the manual, It seemed to be solved by making new Audio Input Objects in the Environment, but unfortunately these objects where removed from Logic Express)
    Does anybody have the solution?
    Thanks a lot.
    Greetings,
    Mark

    Hi Michael, thanks a lot!
Unfortunately it didn't solve my problem yet. I tried
the audio/midi utility and found that the inputs
can't be turned off. Is there not a environment patch
possible, that I can load that puts the inputs in the
    right order? I hope so!
    Greetz,
    Mark
The Environment doesn't route audio; it routes MIDI. There are audio objects IN the Environment, but you can't shuttle audio around like that.
You have to remember that LE is an entry-level piece of software. You might think Garageband is entry level, and I think it should be, but in reality, LE is VERY crippled. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ragging on Logic as a program; I think Logic is great. But Apple has made some poor choices with respect to the features of LP that get crippled in LE.
Sorry to digress from your original topic, but I think this is a bigger issue. The difference in price between LP and LE is enormous. That difference should be due to the fact that LP has plugs and effects (and other fairly esoteric features, like surround mixing, that most people don't need), and that justifies the price difference. Remember, when Emagic sold Logic (pre-Logic Pro 6), those effects and instruments cost a LOT more than the difference between LP and LE. LP is really a steal for what you get. LE is a poor substitute.
Seriously, LE is a lot less than just a lite version of LP; it's crippled by things like the 12 input/output thing (what is the point?), the useless Auxes, and numerous other little things that keep it from really competing with other 'lite' sequencers like Cubase SL or Audiodesk.
Anyway, I think the answer to your question is, if you need to record more than 12 simultaneous tracks, or you need flexibility in accessing your hardware's inputs and outputs, you need a better program.
Fortunately, the upgrade cost to LP isn't that much, nor is the crossgrade to Digital Performer...

  • Is there a way to change the name of audio device inputs/outputs?

Hi there hope someone can help me. I use my macs primarily for music production and I have several audio cards both USB and PCI on my MacPro and I use external audio cards with my MacBook Pro both running Mountain Lion. As I have many different outputs I would like to rename them from their defaults, in other words I would like to rename "Headphones" to "Studio Monitors" and so on.
I have created Aggregate Devices which almost works as a solution as its possible to name them easily. The problem is with an Aggregate Device, the system Volume Control becomes greyed out and I can no longer change the volume using the Apple Keyboard.
I'm hoping that someone might be able to tell me which system file holds the names for the Audio Inputs and Outputs so that I can basically apply a bit of a hack to change my inputs and outputs to something a little more transparent? I don't mind applying tweaks to plist files etc as I have done this numerous times in the past to tweak some aspects of OS X.
The other solution would be to tweak the Aggregate Device settings to enable the volume control. Either option would be great especially when I am working on projects with friends who would be able to choose to listen to audio on a different set of monitors or headphones without having to ask me constantly which output is which.
    All help appreciated!

These directions may be useful in the future but I was wondering how to change the actual name of the computer.
You know when you log into your iMac and then it loads all of your preferences?
Well at the very top of the login box, there is the name of your computer, I want to change that.
Not short names for Home folders.
    Thank you though...
    Any other suggestions or solutions?
    Sam

  • Input/Output And Method Not Found Problem

Ok so firstly I think I should apologise on two fronts.
Firstly, 'cause this is probably posted in the wrong board but I'm not sure this was suitable for the Swing board just 'cause I've been using Swing? And secondly 'cause the code I'm gonna post is so shoddy I would think this constitutes as flaim-bait. >_>
In my defense this is purely for a little class project to give something to write some documentation on so I'm really not too bothered about the efficiency or ace-mazingness of the end result. I just want it to work.
    To the problem at hand.
I'm trying to write a program that asks the user a question and then outputs their answer to a file, from which a tally of answers can later be made for the purpose of displaying "results".
My problem is I've been having problems with the input/output of saving the answers given to the program.
I'm still learning and input/output is probably my weakest subject (other than, y'know, being good at Java). I've had a bash at it in the following code but all it does it overwrite what is in the file with a single answer so no list of results accumulate. I generally don't have an idea what to try for that one so any pointers would be appreciated.
Also, my second problem is, in trying to gather results by tallying what is contained in the file, I've run across a problem with the charAt() method not being found and I'm not sure why. Isn't that method a part of java.lang?
    Here's the code thus far:

Oh, and in trying to work with it a bit further I realised I'm having a few problems with runtime errors due to exceptions. The first was due to the array being assigned out of bounds (fixed in the above code). But the second reads the following:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
         at Loadingsaving.load(CaseStudy.java:330)
         at QuizResults.(init)(CaseStudy.java.259)
         at GUI.(init)(CaseStudy.java:34)
at CaseStudy.main(CaseStudy.java:15)Not quite sure what this one means or how to handle it. =\

A NullPointerException means a method has been called on a null object, or a variable that isn't pointing to any object. Your Exception points to line 330, which is:
length = s.length();A NPE on that line means that s is null. So let's look at where s is set:
    if (br.readLine() == null) return answerarray;
else s = br.readLine();s gets it's value from br.readLine(), so that method must be returning null. You have a logical error here. Look at your If-Else. It reads a line, makes sure it isn't null...then it reads another line. Well what if that line is null? You are performing 2 reads here instead of 1.

  • Optional Audio Bracket for 945GM2 and pinout question(s)

Hello. The manual for the 945GM2 says it has a 14 pin audio connector for front panel audio. It says you can get an "Optional Audio Bracket" for it. I read an older post that stated the bracket "May" not be available from resellers. Was the bracket ever available from MSI? It is pictured in the manual. Is/was it available anywhere?
If I need to create my own connector..... I understand most of the pin descriptions for the audio outputs, but the manual states that there are two data pins named SPDIF0 and SPDIF1. I know these are for the digital audio, but which ones? In other words, is SPDIF0 the coax RCA output and SPDIF1 the fiber output? Are they both meant for coax RCA or both fiber? Or is SPDIF0 front R/L and SPDIF1 rear R/L? Or can either one be what you want it to be depending on how you wire it? Is SPDIF0 an input and SPDIF1 an output? I've read that the fiber uses basic TTL type 0-5V, and that the coax RCA connection uses -.2V to +.2V. So I would guess the outputs are dedicated to one or the other. Is there a better explanation for wiring these?
    Thanks!
    Robert

Other MB's with similar header even though the ones I checked are 10 or 12 pin show SPDIF0 as signal out and SPDIF1 as signal in. The difference in header pin count seems to be additional analog speaker outputs. By the way VCC3 is +3.3V, would be easy enough to double check with voltmeter though. As far as I know the co-ax does not need any power as it is directly connected to S/PDIF signal out and ground. The powered pins are to supply power to the LED & circuit board on the S-bracket for optical output. Also as far as I know the S/PDIF in is through the optical port & has nothing to do with co-ax part of it. For the S/PDIF you should be able to use a readily available 3 pin S-bracket and modify the plug end of the cable to fit your needs. You should also be able to find an analog S- bracket of some kind to use.
As said the original MSI S-bracket for that thing would be very scarce indeed. I'm sure you could locate a 10 or 12 pin S-bracket such as one from K7N2G series but not likely the 14 pin.

  • Guitar Plugged in Audio interface but no effect sound

is coming out.. I can see activity when I hit the strings but whatever setting I pick there is no change in my guitar sound.. I have changed the audio/midi prefer...to my audio interface but no luck...can someone help me...Im sure im leaving out a step..

Is the Master channel slider up?

  • USB audio Interface distortion/static when sound is played.

My USB audio interface started sending out static/distortion to my speakers one day. It's more apparent when volume is very very low. To troubleshoot I switched to the other USB port and it worked fine for a month or so. Now the second USB port is creating static. I have reason to believe it's the computer not my interface as there was static on one usb port and none on the other. Now both ports create static. Is there something in my computer I can try reseting or should I look into getting a new interface?
Thank you in advance for any guidance with this.

  • Audio: no input - output devices macbook pro late 2011

My computer has no audio input or output devices anymore.
This problem appeared after I had used a software oscilloscope to test an amplifier. The amp was connected through the mic input. It worked for a couple of minutes and then the audio went mute. I'm suspecting, that the circuits took a hit although the input power wasn't excessive.
I have reinstalled the OS, restarted the coreaudio daemons, plugged-in / out a mini jack, reinitialized the audio preference files but all with no results. The audio is dead... as if the relative circuits where non existant .
The Apple hardware test doesn't seem to see the audio circuits and ends with a "all ok".
I'm left with the following questions :
Is there a hardware test for audio ? Is there a fuse / protection circuit for the audio circuit ?
    Thank's for any ideas.
    See sig. for hardware

    Hi,
I have exactly the same problem and It happened in a similar situation.
    Did you find a solution?
    Thanks

  • MB51- list output and layout question

    Dear experts,
I have a quick question about MB51 layout. When I run the report the output by default is not ALV list output. In order to get that I have to click the "detail" view button. I am trying to set this job in the background and send the "list" output ( or excel format) to the user automatically. Creating new layout doesn't allow me to choose the desired list output. I found couple old threads related to this however I am not sure which is one is more accurate and up to date.
Option1: Spro Reporting setting under Inventory managment and physical inventory - I didn't find any setting here to achieve this. Is there any?
Option 2: Creating ZMB51 and update the routine output_list in order to replace the fm REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY with REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.
Can you please suggest is there any easier way? Option 1 sounds reasonable.Or only option 2 is possible.
    thanks,
    Duhita

    Hi,
This feature to default to "Detail List" ("Flat List") from the selection screen in SAP transaction code MB51 has been created in SAP note 1870531. Latest support package may be required.
"The output list of transaction MR51 has a hierarchical structure. You can branch to the flat list from the output list. Previously, you could not call the flat list directly from the selection screen."

  • Problem creating inputs, outputs and text in Scilab Script Block

I have recently installed the Labview to Scilab Gateway.  I am running Labview 11.0 and Scilab 5.3.3.  The example files run properly, However, when I try to define any inputs, or outputs, there is no option to add the ports.  The block also ignores any text I type in it or copy to it.  I have been trying this on a blank vi.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Ronny,
I have a few more questions to help us debug this issue.  You said you tried the same right-click procedure to create inputs and outputs on a normal script block and it worked as expected.  What specifically do you mean by a "normal script block"?
How did you drop the empty Scilab script node on a blank VI?  Did you drop it from a palette or paste it from another VI?
Can you post an image of your Help >> About LabVIEW screen (feel free to obscure your name, company, and license number)?  If not, can you provide the LabVIEW version number specified from that screen?  There have been a few patches to LabVIEW 2011 and it will help us to reproduce the issue if we know exactly which version you have.  Also on that screen, do you have LabVIEW Base, Full, or Professional (or maybe an Evaluation or Student edition)?  The Scilab script node will not work in LabVIEW Base and the right-click menu will look as you describe.  You can verify your LabVIEW activation in the NI License Manager.
Do you have any other versions of LabVIEW installed on your computer?  Is LabVIEW 2011 the most recent LabVIEW you installed?  How about previous versions of Scilab?  Do any previous versions remain or did you remove a previous version of Scilab AFTER installing Scilab 5.3.3?

  • UMI-7774 Axis1 Inhibit input/output (and Fault +/-) to corresponding Servo Drive signals

    Hi,
I have servo drive (yaskawa sigma fsp) that i configured to work in Position command mode,
And i want to connect it to UMI-7774 with PCI-7344 also configured in MAX to work in P-Command mode.
The Servo drive has these signals:
    /S-ON    (Servo ON input)
    ALM+    (Servo alarm output)
    ALM      (Servo alarm output)
The UMI-7774 on its Control Connector of Axis1 has these signals:
    Enable
    Fault+
    Fault-
i read the umi7774 manual and also the servo drive manual, and didnt understand all the things because
the umi7774 manual named the signals Inhibit-input, inhibit-output
but there is no signals in this name on the UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector.
So, i think the wiring i need to make is :
    [Servo Drive] /S-ON   < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Enable
    [Servo Drive] ALM+   < to >   [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Fault+
[Servo Drive] ALM      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Fault-
is [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Enable  is same as Inhibit-Output ?
what about the inhibit-input, is the ALM+ from the drive is acting this role ?
And, because the servo drive and the pci7344 configured to P-Command (Position command) mode,
The control signals is connected in this way :
[Servo Drive] PULS      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Step (CW)
[Servo Drive] /PULS     < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Digital Ground
[Servo Drive] SIGN       < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Dir (CCW)
[Servo Drive] /SIGN      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Digital Ground
And for the feedback connector :
[Servo Drive] PAO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase A
    [Servo Drive] /PAO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase A-
[Servo Drive] PBO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase B
    [Servo Drive] /PBO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase B-
[Servo Drive] PCO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Index
[Servo Drive] /PCO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Index-
i read the ni-motion manual,pci-7344 and umi7774 manual and also the articles about configuring the Position Command mode
    including the MAX setting.
i finally start to understand the setting after i read the PCI7390 which is position-comannd controller.
i just need to know if what i write here is correct.
(The servo drive manual is here:
      http://www.yaskawa.com/site/products.nsf/products/Servo%20Amplifiers~fspsigma.html?openDocument&seq=... )
Last thing,  the  "How to connect the 73xx inhibit and command signal outputs to third party drives"  article
    (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3442 )
shows that we need resistors etc.. to connect the signals between the servo drive and umi-7774,
can i directly connect the signals using Pigtail cables the National instruments provide?
    Thanks
    Moti

    Dear Vince,
this is the description from the servo drive manual about the following signals:
[Servo Drive] PULS  (Reference pulse input)
[Servo Drive] SIGN   (Reference pulse input)
[Servo Drive] PAO   (PG divided output A-phase)  same for PBO,PCO
i understand the following connection that i write here (for control and feedback)
from the PCI 7390 users manual (Table B-7 on Page  B-15 : CN1 cable pin assignments)
the table shows the signals from the MCA-7790Y which is accessory
for connecting the pci7390 to Yaskawa Sigma 2 drive (which is the same as Yaskawa Sigma FSP drive).
So, is that the correct connections for using the umi7774 and this servo drive in position command mode ?  :
[Servo Drive] PULS      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Step (CW)
[Servo Drive] /PULS     < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Digital Ground
[Servo Drive] SIGN       < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Dir (CCW)
[Servo Drive] /SIGN      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Digital Ground
And for the feedback connector :
[Servo Drive] PAO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase A
    [Servo Drive] /PAO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase A-
[Servo Drive] PBO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase B
    [Servo Drive] /PBO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Phase B-
[Servo Drive] PCO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Index
[Servo Drive] /PCO      < to >  [UMI-7774/Axis1/Control Connector]  Encoder Index-
thanks for your reply , i appreciate your help
since i'm alone in this, unfortunately i cant get help on this issue from anyone.
Please verify that what i write here is correct.
    Regards,
    Moti
