Audio is distorted in hdv

I am importing HDV video from a Canon HV20 using I Movie 06. The picture is good but the sound is distorted. It sounds like it is slow. The project imported at 1/2 to 1/4 time. Any suggestions as to how to solve this import problem?

Erm, you've posted this message in the iMovie '08 section, and you may get a better response if you re-post it in iMovie HD 6, but as you're here..
I've found this sometimes, and it's because - sorry! - your G4 is a bit too slow to capture HDV in real time. When this 'slow' audio has happened to me, I've quit from iMovie and restarted it. That empties iMovie's memory 'cache' (from where the audio plays slowly) and then iMovie generally re-reads the audio from the imported (and converted) footage, and it then plays correctly.
Occasionally that doesn't fix it, but I can't remember what does (..because I changed to using a fast G5, and so haven't had this problem for a very long time).
So for further up-to-date help about what to do, I'd re-post in iMovie HD 6. Sorry not to be able to help more..

After Install IOS 8 and 8.0.2, the Ipad audio was distorted, and the bluetooth connection to audio speaker have wheezing.

I ALSO just updated my brand new iphone 6 to 8.0.2, and I ALSO had my cellular service BRICKED.
All I get on the signal meter is Verizon 1x.  Every so often 3G would popup and you could send a text (no calls though) but it's gone in seconds. So  I can't send texts or make phone calls.
This phone worked immediately before the update and stopped working immediately after the update.
My neighbor has a iphone 5S. He updated to 8.0.2 lat week and had no problems UNTIL just this morning, when his phone stopped working - no cellular voice or data. He downgraded back to ios 8.0 but his cellular service never came back.
Called verizon - was told there were no service outages and then I got transferred to tech team.
Tech team had do all the Apple troubleshooting steps but nothing more. So they said "take it back."
So this BRAND NEW iPhone 6 phone is BRICKED because of iOS 8.0.2.
    Thanks Apple!

  • Audio playback distortion?

Is there audio playback distortion with itunes and icloud?

Since I have upgraded and/or using itunes cloud, sound from itunes on computer is really fuzzy, distorted. I have read that perhaps it is because I have an older computer (Intel Core 2 Duo [email protected] GHZ 4G RAM?) 6 years old, which is old by computer standards.

  • System Audio Starts Distorting

For some reason, I was watching a movie in VLC and after the crazy amount of skipping and dropped video and audio stopped happening, the audio was distorted. Not just the audio through VLC, but all the system audio. Even iTunes, or just the blips changing the volume were distorted. I think it's a memory problem cause I was using a lot of different programs at the same time, but when I open up Activity Monitor and get rid of some stuff, it still won't go away.
It has gone away now, but what if it happens again, is there anything I can do to get audio up and un-distorted immediately when it happens?

    that really did nothing
in the audio tab, it displayed that audio output was unavailable
i don't think it has to do with anything like that, just memory, because whenever I'm downloading a lot, or have things working, exporting or anything, it goes from skipping playback, to distorted audio. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this cause it really ****** me off every time it happens.

  • GPC Latency Problems and audio dropouts/distortion

I have spent three days trying to find definitive solutions to the audio dropout/distortion problems with this Pavilion dv7 - 1245dx Notebook running Vista sp2 x64. Having taken all the suggestions by Daniel P in the forums, including updating all drivers, running the DPC Latency Checker and disabling all the relevant drivers, firewalls, etc., I have come to the conclusion that HP has simply manufactured a poorly designed product, replete with mediocre software like the Atheros WLAN drivers, the IDT SRS audio chip drivers and the RealTek Ethernet drivers. While the latency spikes can be vitiated somewhat, they cannot be eliminated entirely. Perhaps the AMD Turion x2 processor is inferior, since my son also own a Pavilion dv7T-4000 with an Intel Core 2 chip, with the usual bucket of HP bundled crap, and there is absolutly no sign of yellow or red spikes. I even tried running the Microsoft RRATV3 to try to identify the offending drivers, but the program will not run in 64-bit mode.
One word on HP technical assistance: once an HP product is out-of-warranty (usually one year), they've never heard of you. They hand you off to some third-party contracted service that wants to dip into your pocket to extricate $100 for their troubleshooting advice.  This seems to me to be highly excessive, especially for a poorly designed machine, and most customers thus burned (as revealed in Forum comments) have expressed the desire to make their next computer purchases elsewhere. I have noticed that this audio dropout problem is listed by owners as far back as 2006. It is unconscionable that the problem still persists with HP computers, and I have also observed that many, if not most, of the queries have not received a single reply. If this is so, then what is the use? Why should a person with the same problem, who posted in 2009, not have the courtesy of a reply by 2013?  This is absurd!  Under these circcumstances, it is hard to recommend HP products/services to anyone.

I have raised your post to the appropriate team for review.  Someone should contact you via private message in these forums, but it may take up to two days.

But you said that the new OS installation has helped!!! So it must be something wrong with the OS or with the sound driver files..
The notebook supports an Realtek ALC 861 HD Audio sound chip. Visit the realtek website and try to reinstall the newest sound driver.
If it does not help install the OS again.. who knows why it happens... maybe a 3rd party applications has a bad influence on some registry keys or system files

  • ITunes 10.6.3 suddenly audio is distorted HELP?

I am not sure what happened. I am running OSX 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.3.
I have never had a problem before but suddenly the audio is very distroted with some podcasts sound as if they are in very fast motion to the point I can't understand any word spoken.
The songs are distorted. LIke someone singing into a tin can, and some very low volumn.
The volume adjustment, as always is at 0.
I have disabled and then turned on the Equalizer and there is no change.
Any other audio from my headphones is fine. Final Cut Pro is fine as is my Quicktime movie files.
PS I have recently had to repair my 30" Cinema display.

    IE and Chrome
I'd try Firefox ... it handles network connections a little differently from Chrome, IE or Safari, so in cases where there's an issue with IE or Chrome, Firefox can sometimes get a working installer (and vice versa, though IE working when Firefox doesn't in this sort of context is a bit rarer overall than Firefox working when IE doesn't).
If still no joy with Firefox, I'd try the download of the installer to a different PC.

  • Audio skipping distortions after upgrading to iTunes 7.5

Since I downloaded iTunes 7.5 all of my audio on my laptop has random distortions in it (sounds exactly like a prcessor glitch but isnt caused by that). It isn't corrected when I play media through other programs leading me to think that it wasnt iTunes at first. But after many hours of trying to see what else it could be (and that fact that this happened just after I had upgraded to itunes 7.5) I'm now sure that it must be the new iTunes.I found that if i converted my music to ACC through iTunes then it played correctly but this doesnt solve it messing up the sound on my DVD or windows media player and I can't convert any songs purchased through the music store.
(Have checked it's not my soundcard or CPU usage that's the problem)
    Any suggestions?
    Dexian

I had the same horrible skipping problem. Here's what I did to correct it. You need to get itunes ver 6.0.5. My problem started when I upgraded to ver 7 and every version thereafter. First, backup your iTunes library of purchased songs. Get rid of all traces of iTunes ver 7 installation off your hard drive. Install iTunes ver 6.0.5 - then import your iTunes music (I found I had to also delete the two small library files that were created by the later versions of iTunes to be able to import and create the library for ver 6.0.5). After creating the library, all my purchased iTunes songs then appeared in iTunes. The first time I clicked on a song to play it a pop-up window appeared asking to authorize the song on this machine(my PC). I used the same ID and password that I always had used to purchase the iTunes originally. Then everything was great again. It took me a long time to figure out that an earlier version (pre ver 7) was the fix. By the way, prior to doing all the above, I had just re-installed WinXP on a blank hard drive. Hope this works for you - if it does don't ever click yes when the pop-up shows up in iTunes saying that a newer version is available.

  • Audio sound distorted since 10.6.3 and Pro Apps 2010-01 - bug iTuneshelper

As of OS X 10.6.3 and Pro Apps Update 2010-01 (FPC 7.0.2) I was encountering in both video sound and music sound tracks odd and somewhat unpredictable audio distortion (wrong pitch and left and right stereo sound running out of sync).
This problem seemed to pop up around the end of March 2010.
I have determined that it is related to iTunes 9.0 which has placed in my startup items iTunesHelper which is a startup item, just after AdobeResourcesSynchronizer, iChat and Stickies. I am not certain if it is the order of the startup that introduces the problem or the version of iTunes (which currently is now 9.1).
If you have this item in your startup, just delete it and perhaps your audio problems will go away.
    Don

Had the same exact problem. Just got off the phone with Apple Support. The tech asked me to create a test administrator account under Accounts in Systems Preferences. Then log out of account you are currently using and log in to the test account. If you are like me then you will find Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat under Applications. Open Adobe Reader and choose to update it. I actually did not have to choose anything as the program began to update both itself and Acrobat Pro automatically. It will take about 10 minutes, depending on speed of internet and computer speed. Once completed, then logout and log back into your normal administrator account. Both programs should now be updated and you can use them. Delete the test administrator account you created. And, good luck on that school work.

  • Premiere Elements 7: video/audio asynchronous in recorded HDV only in PrEl

I recorded five tapes with PrEl with my HDV camera (Sony HVR-HD1000E, european version) on my harddisk each as one large MPEG-2-file. I edited for hours and found that the audio increasingly did not match video in only one of the large files (about 3 sec. max; although the others are the same kind: HDV MPEG 1080i 25fps 48kHz) in preview, timeline and export.
    I tried:
Playback with VLC/Media Player Classic and Womble MPEG Video Wizard is okay in every test case until the end of the video file.
opened the file in a new HDV 1080i project but the same
re-record: First it seemed to be okay, but today I found it's the same again. No frame drops reported (option "report frame drops", translated from german, was active), too.
I tried to demux with ProjectX and PVAstrumento ("No System Header found"). Both programs canceled with errors. Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip says "warning: 8 data breaks"). Again successful demuxed with ProjectX says (translated german): "first video PTS starting later than last PTS in stream! Critical for synchronicity ... 11 frame(s) (264ms) added".
    used MPEG2Repair: even worse results
re-record with HDVSplit: aborts every time at different timecodes because of frame drops
re-record with VLC (and conversion from m2t with MPEG Streamclip later to MPEG), same result: asynchronous only in PrEl
In the clip properties in PrEl audio source is "compressed" but audio project setting is "32-bit floating-point".
But I cannot change this (can I?). May be that's the problem?
I had several crashes during record: Visual C+ Runtime Error, suddenly began to play fast forward etc. but the
video files I use now had no interruptions.
Perhaps I should use another hardware to record, copy the miniDV tape ... But I've got no other hardware and my time is running away. Spend one day and a half on this.
Any ideas why only one file is asynchronous and only in PrEl?
    Thanks.

Thanks again for your fast help!
Yes, I used PrEl over FireWire to capture. (Later I tested HDVSplit and VLC as described.)
My project is a HDV-project. There are no red lines above HDV-clips. But I use DV wide files in this project, too. They naturally got red lines but they are totally fine and all other HDV clips - except for this one tape I captured.
I think the Adobe KB article, thanks for that, is no use for me, because I had C++ Runtime Errors during capturing. I had no problems installing PrEl like this article describes. Or should I reinstall?
I used MediaInfo to look into the specs of the file: "MPEG Audio 384 Kbps 2 channels, 48.0 KHz". G-SPOT unfortunately does not show up with any video or audio info except for: "File Type: MPEG-2 Transport Stream, Mime Type: video/mp2t". Sure it is compressed, isn't it? That's what Premiere is recording.
I tried to open the audio of my MPEG in Audacity. But Audacity says it will last 1193046:21:06 hours. Too long for me. My file is about more than 11 GB. I guess Audacity will abort with a memory error as memory is increasing usage on and on. I had this problem before. But perhaps not ... I will test it.
Can I demux my MPEG and mux it again with uncompressed audio? (I don't think so.) I need the whole file in one because I already cut many clips out of the whole file and cannot sync every little clip with a part of a wav-file again.
Why is it that only one of five files got this problems? The others got the same audio type as MediaInfo says.
For anyone who wonders: OOS is "out of sync".

  • Upon using USB Headsets the audio gets distorted

    Hi
I have used USB headset in other laptops including HP but have never faced this problem. But I get this problem with the new notebook, and after a few minutes of use the audio quality automatically gets distorted and loud.
This is not a problem with the USB headsets since I have been using them since long without any problem, and they dont give me any distortion with other notebooks even today.
    Please advise.

The headset has an independent C-Media audio chip that accepts USB on one side and has it's own AC97/DAC. Because are 2 devices (one USB controller and one AC97 sound chip) apears in 2 places in Windows devices! For more info look here:
    http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/usb_audio
CM06-F+/ L+ is a highly integrated single chip USB audio solution. All essential analog modules are embedded in CM06F+/L+, including 8CH DAC and earphone buffer, 2CH ADC, microphone booster, PLL, regulator, and USB transcei'ver.
I would correct the affirmation made by somebody that USB audio devices are no soundcards - YES there are soundcards with an USB controller instead of the usual PCI one! The digital data flows on USB instead of PCI to the audio controller that send it to the integrated DAC's and to the headsets.
So trying to use the USB headset via the X-Fi is like you are trying to use the on-board soundcard via the X-Fi...

  • Master gain problem with Direct Audio Device: distorted sound

    Hi everybody,
I'm in a bit of a fix here. I've got an application that plays music. Developped with 1.4.2, got it working.
However, when I run it with the the latest 1.5 release (5.0 update 6), the sound is distorted. More specifically, though I'm not entirely sure, I'd say it's the bass that gets distorted. By "distorted" I mean it's shrieking, scratching instead of... well, sounding.
I'm using the FloatControl.Type.MASTER_GAIN control to change the "volume". Since it's playback, I'm using a SourceDataLine, and that one ain't got no VOLUME control. Now the problem only appears when I'm amplifying the audio data, i.e. when the MASTER_GAIN's value is greater than 0.0 decibel.
Inverstigating a little more, I found out that 1.5 is using the "Direct Audio Device" Mixer as default as opposed to the "Java Sound Audio Engine" used by 1.4.2. If I force the use of the Java Sound Audio Engine with 1.5 (getting the line from the appropriate Mixer), the sound is OK. However, since the application is intended to be cross-platform, I'd prefer not to impose any such specific behaviour (plus the performance of the Direct Audio Device is twice as good).
Tested on Linux version 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 and Windows NT.
Looked at www.jsresources.org, but didn't find any information specific to this problem.
    Bugparade: no hits.
I'd be glad if anyone could help me on this.

    Nobody ?
It narrowed it down to the following testcode. Please try to run it with Java 1.5 and some compatible audio file (a WAVE file, for instance):

  • USB Audio Input Distorted

I have a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB device.  Audio input coming in to my Macbook Pro sounds distorted and Cyborg like.  I've tested the hardware on my wife's macbook air and it works.  I've been through the process of removing and reinstalling the driver but still continue to have the distortion.  I've tried different USB Ports and even reseting SMC and PRAM but nothing seems to shake the distortion from the external Audio device.  Any thoughts on other solutions to look into?

That could definitely be a possibility, as none of our products are officially Mountain Lion compatible as of yet.  Keep an eye on this answerbase article for updates on that.

  • USB audio Interface distortion/static when sound is played.

My USB audio interface started sending out static/distortion to my speakers one day. It's more apparent when volume is very very low. To troubleshoot I switched to the other USB port and it worked fine for a month or so. Now the second USB port is creating static. I have reason to believe it's the computer not my interface as there was static on one usb port and none on the other. Now both ports create static. Is there something in my computer I can try reseting or should I look into getting a new interface?

  • Previously completed project: all audio now distorted in edit playback

I completed a 25 min training video six weeks ago with several hundred clips. Audio is mostly voiceover broken into 100+ tracks, with a few background music tracks, some camera audio, and about 20 total sound effects. The project is complicated for imovie, but saved and exported to idvd without problems. Now when I open it, ALL of the audio is terribly distorted in playback. Sounds like a radio broadcast not quite tuned in. Opened the version on my back up hard drive with same result. Tried to delete an audio track and re-record and even the new voiceover or music track is distorted. No other archived projects have this problem. I have completed another larger project since last modifying the problem project. The new project is fine. My hard drive has 27GB available and I am not running anything else when attempting playback. I also did a software update just in case but nothing in the update for imovie.

Since the sound apparently plays back fine in iDVD, I suspect that the sheer number of sound clips in your audio track is overwhelming iMovie's playback feature. You describe a pretty complicated sound track for a 25 minute video.
The goal of iMovie is to create a movie that can be exported to iDVD and subsequently burned to a DVD. If you achieved a good DVD then maybe it isn't important that iMovie distorts the playback.
As a test, you might just delete out 75% or more of the audio clips in your iMovie project, and see if the remaining ones play well in the project. Just don't save the modified project when you close it and everything will revert to the original. Keep your back up project intact, of course, in case something goes wrong.
If the number of sound clips are causing the problem, you might need to consolidate them into fewer clips. One way to do this might be to divide your movie into three segments, exporting each segment to a full quality quicktime movie. Then import the quicktime movies into your project, deleting the original audio and video clips. The result would be 3 audio clips instead of 100+. Or, you could export the entire movie project to a full quality Quicktime movie and import it back into your project. Again, always keep a reliable back up in case you are not satisfied with the results.
