Audio is playing but no picture.

Hi,
I just upgraded from CS6 to CC 2014.. When i play my project the audio is playing fine but there's no picture in the program window. I moved the res down to 1/4 i cleaned my cache i restarted my comuter and still no picture in the program window.
Im working on a mac pro 17 gb ram 2 x 2.4 ghz quad-core intel xeon NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2048 MB
Please Help!

What version of iMovie is this? Where did this media come from? It's probably in a format or codec not supported by your computer.

Select FLV's audio is playing but not video in IE

I seem to be running the latest Flash plugins on both
machines i testing on - though I am not sure the best way to test
this. It does seem like a video codec issue...

On your iPod, go to the main menu, Videos, Video Settings, then turn the TV Out option to OFF.

Audio Tracks playing but instrument tracks almost mute - anybody had this?

I have two audio tracks which are playing correctly but the instrment tracks are playing almost mute. I don' tthink I changed anything to cause this to happen... Any ideas? thanks

Itunes video appears to be playing, but no picture no sound

Help...new to Mac. Just purchased this from a friend who didn't use it for anything but business. Macbook Air. Loaded iTunes, Authorized the computer on my account. Then tried to watch videos in itunes. It launhes to a widescreen view which is grey where the picture should be....no video or sounds. But when you move the cursor to the area to press play of pause or other actions...it shows it as playing. When I click on the chapter area, it shows the pictures of the chapters as it should. Though clicking on them does not bring video to the main screeen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have the same problem. I have a 30gb Video Ipod. Was lying in bed listening, started changing songs, next thing I know it is no longer playing. Everything appears normal, makes clicking sound, you can change the volume and the white noise gets louder but no sound. Hooked up to many earphones as well as a fm transmitter, same thing. Tried resetting didn't work. I let the battery run out, than I hooked it up to my computer and fully charged it. Music played through itunes. Disconnected from my computer and it actually played. The next day I tried playing it again, and no longer worked. Haven't been able to get it to work since. Tried erasing all the music and resetting to normal factory settings, didn't work. Any help would be great!.

I have a macbook pro 2012 13 inch, which i use for uni and youtube etc. I use firefox for my web browsing, whenever I go to watch videos, from youtube or even uni lectures (for all my subjects) the video and audio play fine, but as soon as i switch into another tab, the audio continues to play whilst the video lags and stops all together, freezing on the current screen. The timestamp on the video players also stops, which gets incredibly frustrating when I am watching uni lectures, does anybody know how to fix this?? Please help.

Which os version are you using?
Which Firefox version?
Have you posted in the Firefox forums or contacted their tech support for assistance?
Have you made sure you are using the latest version of Adobe Flash Player?

Flash in AW sound plays but no picture

I've googled for this but haven't found any definitive
answer.
I have a subroutine which plays flash files through the flash
xtra. It works fine but for the 3 files in which there has been an
mp3 embedded (to time the animation to the sound) - the sound plays
fine but i get one line of the picture only near the bottom and it
doesn't play the anim.
I have tried the same procedure with a fresh file - just
having the flash xtra and loading the anim into it directly with
"browse..." but with the same result. The anims play fine from the
media folder tey are located in, playing in Firefox or IE.
Any suggestions? Using Flash MX, AW 6.5 and Mp3s.

When you view the Flash file as standalone ... outside a
browser, then
right-click and Show All, what do you see?
Wild guess ... maybe you have something off at the top of the
Flash movie
that's pushing it down the screen???

No audio from Play, but audio from Chapter

I'm running Encore CS3. I burned my disc and popped it into my DVD player (same thing happens in the computer's DVD player).
If I click Play (which plays the timeline), I get no audio. However, if I navigate to the chapters, then click a chapter, I get audio.
Any idea what's going on here?

Solved.
I had dragged the m2v file to the play button instead of draggin the timeline to the play button. So, the play button played ONLY video, but the chapters, which are simply points in the timeline played video AND audio.

I am getting audio...but no picture...

I have my Apple TV running through an HDMI switch built into my Onkyo receiver. I have component video and optical audio from the Apple TV to the receiver. I then have HDMI from the receiver to my TV. I know that it isn't between the tv and the receiver because my DVD player and cable box both work. I can hear the Apple TV clicking through the menu but I can't see anything. I have tried resetting the resolution, but it continuously cycles through them and never chooses one. I have reset the Apple TV to no success. Any guidance would be appreciated!

There's a difference between a receiver simply switching HDMI inputs which I originally thought you were using throughout the chain, and one that converts other input sources such as component/composite/S-video and output that signal via HDMI, possibly upscaling on the way.
If it's the same model receiver or very near, then there's a good chance you'll get it working, it just may be that there's an option buried in a menu somewhere you haven't set. Do Onkyo have a user forum somwehere you could ask?

HD picture does not play but audio does. Why?

I have a MacBook Pro 2010, I have HD footage that is at I believe 1080p and only the audio will play, not the picture, it is just black. I have tried opening the clips in quiktime, final cut...any suggestion or help. Tried to do updates but can't quite figure it out. Thanks.

Hi. I think what you need is Imovie. It will play HD video clips. Do you have it in your Macbook Pro. You show OS 10.6.8 If so should be Imovie 9.0.4 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1412?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US This is the update for 10.6.8

Video clips have perfect audio but no picture in Quicktime, VLC has perfect audio and jittery picture... How is this fixed?

I have a Canon 550D and a class 6 Sandisk extreme 3 card which I have been taking great photos and film clips.
Yesterday I captured some content and when I put it into my macbook pro, the images were clear as per usual however the videos only appeared to play the audio in aperture 3 and also in quicktime.
I then tried the videos in VLC and it had perfect audio once again but with picture this time. This picture quality seemed to freeze.be jittery.
Has anyone had/fixed this before..?? The content I have captured was of a once off opportunity for work...

i clicked on "open in rosetta" for flip4mac and now it does open once more but the same...no video.
i don't understand why nothing is working.
do i have to upgrade fliprmac and buy it to make it work? i am not going to do that tho.
this is really frustrating.

open and listen and watch?

Multiclips and multiple audio tracks playing at the same time

I've only just taken delivery of my first ever mac (only ever used PC) with FCP, and I'm loving it already! Done lots of reading and viewing of video etc etc, and it's not as daunting as I thought it might be. I have one question the books don't seem to answer, and I can only find one reference to this on this site, with no definitive response. FCP5 probably doesn't work this way, but just in case someone knows different......
I film and edit motorsport (karting) programmes for television in the UK, using multiple cameras. I usually lay all the video and audio tracks on the timeline, (synched) lock the audio for each (as it is engine noise, and I want it playing without abrupt changes at cuts as each kart passes each camera, whether in shot or not) then cut the video tracks and delete those video segments not required.
The most exciting aspect of FCP5 for me is the multiclip editing facility, which I have found very easy to learn and is going to save me hours of work! However, I want to know if there is a way of having each audio track from each camera used in the multiclip laid down on the timeline when you import the multiclip to the timeline from the viewer, in order that I can play each audio track from each of the cameras at the same time.
I know how to cut from angle to angle, leaving the audio from the selected angle as the one audio track playing, but I want all of the tracks to appear in the timeline and play at the same time. I know there's a bit of a workaround by locking the video and importing each audio track from each clip independently, but if you do have to re-synch one of the multiclips, this means the audio is not then synched with the original clip, which will have had an in point set before being imported in as part of a multiclip.
I can understand why you might want to keep audio from one camera only playing over the whole multiclip, or to switch between audio from each, but in my case I prefer all audio to play at the same time. The workaround is still do-able for me as I'm only talking about engine notes, which if they are a few frames out is not very noticeable at all, but I would like to know if I'm right in thinking I cannot do it the way I would like to?
Wish I'd used FCP from the start, but glad I've got it now.....especially with the 30 inch screen! It's 4.40am, been going over 19 hours straight and I'm still making comments like...."WOW, that's brilliant"...every half hour!

Theme music plays, but no video

I just watched a tutorial on iDVD, and wanted to get started, but I open the program, and a new project is ready for me, but when I click on the theme, the video won't show up. When I hit the moton button, the music plays, but no picture. I clicked on the info button and the theme shows up there, but I can't see anything. Any words of wisdom?? Thanks!

Audio not playing in Preview

I have a slide that audio was recorded within Captivate. When I play the slide the audio does play, but when I preview/publish, the audio is not there. I have three caption boxes that fade in during the slide presentation. Not sure if this could be affecting it. Any ideas out there?

Check under Preferences > Project > Publish Settings to see if the box for Include Audio is checked.

Audio slideshow plays only first slide

I am trying to build a musical slideshow from scratch. I created the slides as jpeg files (6 files, 56 to 80 KB each) and an aiff audio file (27 seconds, 4.6 MB). I follow the QT help instructions - slides in a folder, File > Open Image Sequence in QT, select first to make a slideshow. Then new player, open audio file, copy and paste; then paste slideshow by Edit > Add to Selection and Scale.
The resulting QT movie appears fine, plays and shows all slides just as I wish. But when I save it, quit QT, then double-click on saved file icon, the audio all plays but ONLY THE FIRST SLIDE is shown.
Any suggestions?
