Audio is shortened on import ?

Can someone tell me why my imported mpeg (that exported from Premiere Pro via Encode)  shows up with the audio shortened?  The audio is as long as the video clip in Premiere Pro.  Thoughts?
Thanks
Dan

As Stan mentioned, the Multiplexer setting is incorrect for what you are doing, put it back to NONE and leave it alone. The defaults ae generally set the way they are for a reason, but us humans, being inquisitive creatures, like to look under every tab and change things ;-)
By turning on "DVD", you are actually converting your original audio to MPEG audio, highly compressed and muxed into the video stream. Then Encore wants to convert that to Dolby AC-3, so has to DeMux the signal and then re-encode it all again....very lossy and takes more time.
With the NONE setting, AME will output a .wav audio file, along with the .m2v video file. In Encore, choose "Import as Timeline" and select BOTH files. They should match in length every time. Now Encore needs only to convert the uncompressed .wav file direct to .ac3, very fast and high quality encoding.

A small update to this issue....
I have been trawling the forums to find an answer but to no avail...
And... I've tried exporting and bouncing individual stems and the full session, either by muting all bar the stem or soloing the stem.....and still nothing.
Same problems.....everything is audible in audition but nothing plays on playback.
Since the 'prelisten' channel strip is Solo safe this would indicate that you have a track or channel strip soloed somewhere else, out of sight. Are the Mute buttons on your channel strips blinking?

  • Variable bit rate audio assets cannot be imported

Extracted some ac3 files from personal content DVDs I authored and burned myself (using DVDSP) to make a compilation. When I try to import these 5.1 ac3 assets, DVDSP is refusing stating: "Variable bit rate audio assets cannot be imported." These ac3 files play fine in QuickTime and other programs that handle ac3 files.

  • External Audio recording to be imported & used in FCE

    Hi there,
I am thinking of using this audio interface to record some vocals. It is a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB. It comes with a software called Ableton Live that can record the sound in wav or aiff format.
    http://www.focusrite.com/products/audiointerfaces/saffire_6usb
According to this spec, it uses a *24bit 96kHz a/d covertor*.
    http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR326826
    +TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:+
+2 channel USB audio & MIDI recording interface+
    *+24bit 96kHz a/d & d/a converters+*
I am using a standard defintion miniDV tape video camera and in my FCE, in the Easy setup, I have selected DV-PAL 32kHZ Amorphic.
My question is, will the sound recorded using this Focusrite Saffire audio interface be imported into FCE4 for editing together to mix together with my video clips (recorded in my standard defintion video camera) ?
    Thanks you.
    Cheers

    QUESTION 1:
I also discovered something strange when I check the settings of all the previous video & audio clips imported into FCE4. Those that imported in from video camera, the values are 16 bit 32 kHz (How come ? My video camera is set to 12 bit 32 kHz)
Despite the material is recorded in 32 bit, the capture process with 48kHz setting are allowed, but on long shot, you can expect a audio drift from video if sequence's audio is not the same as original sources.
    QUESTION 2:
Then, I look into all the audio clips I bought from iTunes & imported into FCE4, they are all listed as 16 bit 48 kHz.
The funny thing is that both these type of different clips (ie, 16bit/32kHz & 16bit/48kHz) can be rendered without problem. How come ? FCE4 can mix clips of different audio types ?
BTW, importing iTune purchased song into FCE is prohibited by iTune EUA. Any non-natively supported media can be rendered in FCE, but as explained in question 1, you can expect audio drift on long clip. This problem is not relevant with music track audio which is it not part of a video footage.
    QUESTION 3:
If I set the Ableton software output to 16bit 48 kHz, does that mean that I actually cannot make use of the hardware abilities to produce sound of 24 bit 96 kHz ? Is there much difference ?
96 kHz is used for professionnal multi-track audio editing. You have to use high-end audio monitors to ear the difference... if you can. Usually only audio engineers can ear the difference.
Audio CD use 44 kHz and the quality is pristine on hi-fi deck. 48 kHz is the standard in video production and even used in dolby 5.1 home theater configuration.
    QUESTION 4:
In the Easy Setup, I cannot find 16 bit 48 kHz. I only have the following option in the Easy Setup of FCE4:
    a) DV-PAL
    b) DV-PAL 32 kHz
    c) DV-PAL 32 kHz Anamorphic
    d) DV-PAL 32 kHz Anamorphic Basic
    e) DV-PAL 32 kHz FireWire Basic
    f) DV-PAL Anamporphic
    g) DV-PAL Anamorphic Basic
    h) DV-PAL DV Convertor
    i) DV-PAL FireWire Basic
So, which one do I chose ?
    Use DV-PAL.

  • Audio wont play after importing from camcorder

I import video fine via the camcorder, the audio plays fine while importing but when I went to edit it, the audio track stops playing after about a mintue or two.
It shows up in the timeline, I have it checked to play, but for some reason it does not play, any ideas why this happens? I extracted a small clip of audio, and it still wont play. Any help is appreciated!

  • IDVD lack of audio on 12 bit import

Lots of coasters, (looked at articles deleted encoded etc.) but no audio to iDVD. The forums and articles talk about sound synchro problems with 12 bit. To me, a complete lack of audio is not a "synch" issue. Is it a matter of semantics or will iDVD 6.01 simplly not encode 12 bit audio?

I don't think 12-bit audio would effect having no sound at all. As you said, it is a sync issue, so I suspect what you are experiencing is something else. But it brings up some questions...
    1) Is the missing audio only with 12-bit audio? Can you hear the audio fine if you import 16-bit audio?
    2) What are you importing from? Is this a DV format camcorder or are you by any chance trying to import MPEG files? Multiplexed audio can be an issue with iMovie.
    3) Did you check the audio settings of project? On the bottom you don't have volume set to 0 or something like that?

  • Imported Audio CD, two songs imported but not included on album with rest of songs

I just bought an Audio CD "Red River Blue", Artist Blake Shelton. I imported the CD into my iTunes library.
The CD has 11 songs on it. All 11 songs were imported into my iTunes library. Two of the songs had additional artists listed on the credits.
Track 7 Blake Shelton with Martina McBride and Track 11 Blake Selton with Miranda Lambert.
These two songs were imported into my library but not included in the Album. They were labeled with their correct track number and the album was missing a song for track 7 and track 11. There was no cover artwork associated with those songs.
When I moved the album to a playlist these two songs were not included.
This is clearly an error in the current iTunes!
Back before iTunes had the new visual format and new user interface I did not have this problem.
I have reviewed all the preferences for iTunes but can not find any that would seem to control this behavior. I can not conceive that importing a cd should work this way.
I tried to find a way to correct this situation and found that if you did get info on all 11 songs you could force them to be included on one album.
The resulting album did not show track 7 in the correct order and the two tracks were still missing the cover artwork.
I believe that in one of the iTunes updates that required a library conversion all my albums that had this situation were converted wrong so they broke apart songs from their albums.

  • No audio video streams upon import of .mov files?

Hi... recently upgraded OS onto Intel 240 GB SSD. Running Widows 7 64 bit, clean re-install, 24 GB RAM, NIVIDIA Quadro FX 4800. I have been trying to optimize the system for maximum GPU accelerated effects while also taking advantage of the high speed read and write of my disk. OS runs on SSD, Adobe media cache on separate 2 TB eSATA connection, Media stored on external drive USB 3.0. Without getting into the fine details this is a snapshot of my workflow.
The few problems I am encountering are some .mov files cannot be imported to PP. Error reads no audio or video stream in the files. I suspected metadata issues so tried to import with media browser and still no luck. These files worked perfectly before I began surgery 2 days ago on my computer. I have installed the latest version of quicktime and yet to no avail. Any recommendations here regarding my issue with imports or suggestions to benefit from my hardware would be appreciated.

  • Annoying Bug ('feature'), requiring video to have audio (or not) to import!!

There are several occasions where I'm in the middle of a job and I wish to change, say, a video. I have some other video that can directly overlay it. Premiere Pro CS3 (as opposed to older versions) will not let me relink a video in my project to another video unless they both either have audio, or do not.
    Why?
Why do you care, Adobe, if both videos have audio?
Why do you care if they both don't?
I think I can make my own decisions based on if they have audio or not. 99% of the time, I don't use the audio in the clip as it it, so please stop failing my re-linking of a video based on if they both have audio or not. That's for ME to decide if it's "ok" to replace.
Just remove audio off the timeline if the video I relink to does not have it. Vice versa, do NOT put the audio on the timeline if it DOES have it and my original video did not. This is not difficult, this is expected behavior, and having to re-create videos so they match audio-wise is insanely counterproductive.

Not true. In fact most of what you describe I was able to achieve. I tested it now and it worked fine. What exactly are you doing to relink a clip?
I already explained this but, no, it's not working for you, you must be doing something different entirely. Once my machine is done rendering in after effects I'll post a screenshot, but I already explained this. To reproduce this problem the steps are simple:
    1. Import a video with mono audio
    2. Place on timeline in any sequence
    3. Right-click on the video in the Project Library, Make-offline
    4. Right-click on the video in the Project Library, select link the video, choose
some other video clip with stereo audio, or no audio
You will get an error that the source video has a mono audio channel and cannot be replaced by a stereo (or no audio) clip. It will fail. Every time.
Then hold down ALT and replace the audio/video with a track from your bin.
This is an entirely different thing than what I'm doing. Replace clip is not my solution, and is limited as I posted about earlier.
This is natural of course. You cannot expect Premiere to match and keep internal In & Out points for clips that have different total durations. Also each clip has a different timecode In Point seperate from it's duration.
Ahhh.. The good old "assumption" screwing everything up.
This is not the case, all the time. My
videos are identical. That is, exact resolution, exact time (down to the frame count), etc. The only difference is in the content in the video itself (text and visuals). They are an
identical video as far as the computer is concerned,
only differing in audio. And premiere things this is a good enough reason to refuse relinking.
And honestly, even if the duration differs, there are better ways of dealing with it than just outright failing. So what if the in and out points are out of range for a clip I'm replacing it with? Just use the 'video offline' effect or create a new visual indicator that the timestamps are invalid for the range, but
    work for the
valid timestamp ranges. Then I can wholly replace clips easily with other clips to see which I like better, without making me re-create my keyframing effects.
Again, this is not my problem, I don't like or care to use replace clip. I am trying to RELINK files, which as you said, is a completely different thing. I am not confused, I have been using premiere for as long as anyone else here. This is a valid issue that older Premieres did not care about, and rightly so.

  • Audio quality in video imported from VHS tapes

    Hi All,
I am trying to import old videos on VHS tapes, using a Canopus converter. The video is importing into iMovie just fine, but the audio has a loud buzzing sound that covers up the actual audio and is very annoying. Is there a way to extract the audio so I can clean it up using Sound Soap, then return the cleaned up version to iMovie?
    I am using iMovie '09, version 8.0.5.
I also use Final Cut Express, so maybe it would be better to just export it to FCE and then extract the video from there?
Please give as much step by step detail as possible for both approaches. In the iMovie "Help" it said to extract audio using advanced tools, but I couldn't find a command in any of the advanced tools to do that.
    Thanks.

Is there a way to extract the audio so I can clean it up using Sound Soap
iMovie 06 has some good filters for that.
I also use Final Cut Express, so maybe it would be better to just export it to FCE and then extract the video from there?
Final Cut Express (or iMovie 06) will give you better quality but it won't solve the buzzing noise. I also suspect a grounding problem.

  • Audio sometimes missing on imported QTs

    hi all.
sometimes when i import a QT into AE the audio seems to go missing.
if i play the QT on the desktop it's fine but inside the little switch controlling whether you hear the audio or not is greyed out or solid.
it seems to be an intermittant error.
I can import previous QTs and they are fine.
looking at the info page for one that works and one that doesn't the only difference seems to be 'channel count 2' for the one that works
and 'channel count 1' for the one that doesn't
I think it's a problem in how they are generated (they are coming from autodesk smoke) but i wondered if there's anything i can do at the AE end to get it working.
    cheers

Can you see in QT Pro's Movie Properties panel to which channels the audio is actually assigned? They may simply not be on 1 and 2, but have shifted or assigned custom names/ ID's, possibly when they were exported from smoke* to retain the order of the clips as they were on the timeline in case the file is re-imported into a system that reads the info back and can auto-assign tracks... Certainly more of an issue in the Autodesk product that should be possible to fix with the flip of a switch...
